  1. Big AL Says:

Not sure how we improve on offense with that OL. If the OL is intact from last year – how do we improve? Trenches decide games. Look at the number of hits JW has taken in his short career compared to the first 3 years of Manning, Brady, etc. Too many QB hits = bad offensive football.

  2. Brandon Says:

Big Al, did you pay attention at all to this offseason? They signed a big-time center, moved Marpet to guard. They’re going to make Sweezy win the other guard spot from Benonoch and a 3rd round draft pick. This line is improved just by moving Marpet to shore up the LG spot and bringing in an even better center to improve that spot. Two positions were upgraded significantly.

I haven’t reviewed too many plays so far, but one of the seven “pitch and catch” red-zone plays that the coaches are talking about occurred in the game vs. Detroit.
On this particular play, there is great protection from the OL, and Jameis throws to the left side of the endzone incomplete to ME13, who was admittedly single-covered, and he must have been the primary receiver, because Jameis’ gaze never moved from him. Directly in front of Jameis was OH80 who was open, and whose defender had his back turned to him. Even worse, Adam Humphries was wide open and totally uncovered on the right side of that play, but Jameis was totally locked in, and did not see him. I am not sure how to post video to this site, but perhaps the Joes can find this particular play.

It would depend on the prize being offered.
If I had terminal cancer and they offered a trip to Hawaii I might get a tattoo on my butt.

  6. TampaTown Says:

@Dave Pear: Too funny!! So you’re saying you would only consider it if you were already dying?

  7. Dave Pear Says:

    TampaTown,

    Absolutely,

Take a look at Ira’s mug. I couldn’t live too long with that image haunting me.
    🙂

  8. TampaTown Says:

    Dave Pear,
Thank goodness you’re only considering a head shot because he says he doesn’t wear any underwear.

  9. Duke Says:

    Tickrdr,

Excellent points. Unfortunately, the play you have highlighted isn’t unique. If you watch the post game highlights of the Panthers game you will have multiple plays that illustrates the same thing. This isn’t a recent development and its not caused by trying too hard or no defense, running or kicking game. It’s not play calling or design. If it was then we wouldn’t see the exact same issue at FSU. But we do.

JW has to improve in this area and it is to the point that it may not be fixable in the foreseeable future. Thank goodness He has the talent to play around this and be successful. Obviously this is an anchor that will limit His ceiling until He gets it
