The Lying Season

April 19th, 2018

Bucs GM Jason Licht and new trade chatter

Joe isn’t sure what to believe now just seven days before the NFL Draft, so Bucs draft items Joe hears or reads that could be true, Joe’s just going to pass them along.

Phoenix sports radio voice Mike Jurecki of KMVP-FM seems to be of the mind that Cardinals general manager Steve Keim and his former right-hand man, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht, just could be talking turkey on a trade.

The Cardinals, with Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon as quarterbacks on board, will be in need of a quarterback. Just as the sun rises in the east, Bradford will get hurt and Glennon will suck.

Keim is in a pinch.

Now in recent days, scuttlebutt is all over the place that UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen is slipping and may just fall out of the top-10. Again, caution rules the day this time of the year in what to believe and what not to believe.

If those Rosen rumors have a kernel of truth to them, it would be a perfect set up for Licht to trade down with Keim, flipping the No. 7 overall pick for additional players and/or draft picks?

A loyal reader of Joe’s floated this last week; at the time, Joe didn’t give it much thought. What if the Cardinals dangle cornerback Patrick Peterson out for a trade? Joe isn’t sure Keim would do that because the cap hit would be nasty.

Here are the draft picks Arizona has in next week’s draft:

Round 1: 15 overall
Round 2: 47 overall (15th in round 2)
Round 3: 79 overall (15th in round 3)
Round 3: 97 overall (33rd in round 3)
Round 4: 134 overall (34 in round 4)
Round 5: 152 overall (15th in round 5)
Round 7: 254 overall (36th in round 7)

Licht would want at least the Cardinals’ first- and second-round picks for the Bucs’ No. 7 overall pick. So with three picks in the first 47 spots, would the Bucs be fortunate enough to grab Marcus Davenport, Will Hernandez and Sony Michel?

That is, of course, if Saquon Barkley or Bradley Chubb are off the board at No. 7.

Posted earlier under Sweezy…..but I like this better than Arizona.

OK JBF posters…..You are on the clock and Nelson is there but you get a call from Buffalo offering you their 12, 22 & 53rd picks.
You could pick up Davenport, Hernandez and use the 53rd and our 69th to move back into the first round to draft whatever running back you like….(Guice for me)
Then with our 38th we select the best DB on the board.
So you end up with 3 first round picks and a second.

I realize Nelson is a can’t miss prospect….but you have to admit the extra picks would be very enticing. A nice dilema to have.

  2. MadMax Says:

Hmmm. thats one I could work with. Would rather have Vea or Landry though….but Vea is probably off the board at 15.

Big Will!! Im all about that beast!….then Sony or Jones II

  3. MadMax Says:

And the f’n secret low radar flyer Safety Jessie Bates is no longer under the radar….thanks Mayock (a$hole lol)….but na, thats great for Jessie!

    Ok, at 12, Big Vea
    at 22, Big Will
dont move back into the first (we need that for the 3rd round)
2nd round, Jones II or Nick Chubb
-Move back into the 3rd for S Jessie Bates

  4. SCBucsFan Says:

Thank God only 8 days until this 1/2 of this board trashes whatever moves we make and whatever players we pick

  5. DB55 Says:

Just as the sun rises in the east, Bradford will get hurt and Glennon will suck.

^ Yeah, but the excitement!!! (Is that you Seany?)

  7. meh Says:

Davenport screams bust to me. Vea is a terrible fit for a 4-3. I’d rather have Landry if we’re taking defensive line.

  8. Leighroy Says:

Buffalo trade scenario proposed has zero chance of happening. It’s a lovely fantasy, but you may want to study this chart:

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/draft/draft_trade_value.htm

  9. German Buc Says:

Sorry TBBF, but if Licht gets that kind of cornucopia for pick #7 we need to discuss the size of his statue outside RJS before thinking about who we draft.

  10. MadMax Says:

Yep, Landry could be another Von…..But that Big V at NT, come on now, you know we need that, lol.

  11. Harry in Costa Rica Says:

@TBBF, I am ALL in if that offer was to be made. But…

@German, I have to agree with you too. That would be a huge hall of picks. But, because of this year’s situation of so many quality QBs with potential, it is NOT outside the realm of possibilities

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I like a trade with Buffalo better than Arizona……it will net 2 1st round picks….and pick 12 instead of 15….

I realize there is disagreement with Davenport vs Landry/Vea….but the point is we could pick up DL, OL, RB……

I really like Nelson…but we may have to pass if the trade offer is good enough.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I think all will agree that there will be intense interest in what we do at 7…..

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Idon’t think any of these teams will trade up for a QB…because I don’t think more than 2 will go in the first ten picks.

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I don’t know why so many think this is a good class of QBs. People must be buying into the media added in with some wishful thinking.

  16. German Buc Says:

Harry, according to draft value chart #7 is worth 1,500 points, #12 is 1,200 and #2 is 780. So, these two picks are already a 32% premium.

I know it’s crazy season, but expecting to get with #53 another 370 points to sum the premium up to 57 % is wishful thinking. If I were Buffalo’s owner the GM would be looking for a job before Godell has finished his announcement.

  17. AlteredEgo Says:

I’ve been saying all spring that player trades could be making a come back on draft day….it used to be common

  18. AKick'nTheBucNuts Says:

Off topic. In case anyone was concerned JPP does not want to be here, he just listed his home.

“Jason Pierre-Paul, who was traded by the Giants to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason, put his Montclair home on the market on Wednesday for $1.25 million”

I think we will get a committed JPP, not a Swaggy version.

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @German Buc

Every year, that draft value chart goes out the window once the draft starts. Don’t rely on it.

  20. The Buc Realist Says:

I just don’t see the Bucs #7 overall to be a sweet spot for trading down, Unless NFL GM Licht takes a low ball offer to trade down!!!! look at the teams behind the Bucs and that will be the reason that the Bucs will get terrible trade down offers!!!!!!

I wish to trade down as well, but only for a haul of extra picks!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If none of the big 3 are there at 7 then that means only 3 QBs were chosen prior to our pick…..there are several teams looking for a QB….our position at 7 is the only one that would permit teams to be sure they got their choice…..regardless of the teams right behind us not needing a QB….teams will want to move up ahead of other competing teams for QB.

My hopes are that the worst we can do is Nelson or a trade down…..

I don’t like being forced into a DB @ 7…….but that may happen.

  22. Bucballbaby84 Says:

I personally think the Bucs have been playing coy on their defense all offseason. I really think they believe Vernon is going to continue his growth and Ryan Smith is going to continue his growth and one of them be the 2nd corner on the outside but aren’t saying it(of course you wouldn’t). Their still not done getting nasty in the trenches of the offense! This will be a Buccaneer team that is as of Pirates who are mean and nasty and will take what they deam theirs! This will be a Buccaneer team that takes their ship into the deepest of waters and take what they want without hesitation! This will be a Buccaneer team that has their riches while still looking rugged cause they have no care for what others think. They trust their own and their own alone! You see each adventure as your destiny to be the greatest Buccaneer to ever board that ship! Let’s go BUCS!

  23. Rick Says:

For THOSE 3 I would make the deal. However while Davenport is realistic to be there at 15, not sure at all that big Will and Sony are there unless Jason deals a package made up of our picks in the 2nd and early 4th combined with the Arizona picks we acquired. Would rather we came away with Davenport (feel with learning from JPP & Buckner he could become special in a year or two then take over for JPP when he’s ready to hang up the cleats. Then get best Rb ,G, Pass rushing DT, and DB. Still need an OT to backup Dot or replace him if/when that knee just can’t go anymore. Whatever RB we get in 2nd or 3rd (don’t want to wait until 4th) round I’m still hoping for N Hines in 5th or 6th we need that speed!!

  24. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Bonzai

Its not so much that it is a good QB class. Its more thinking that teams will get desperate and make a move. Thats how I see it anyway.

  25. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

If you are hearing about a trade, that means that they wanted it known to try to drum up interest or offers!!!!!!!!!!

It is not a good sign!!!!!!! I don’t think it will be easy to trade down!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!

  26. doctor_berto Says:

    Davenport? Hell no

    _________________________________________________________________

Judging by your 27 exclamation points I think you meant, “IF YOU ARE HEARING ABOUT A TRADE, THAT MEANS THAT THEY WANTED IT KNOWN TO TRY TO DRUM UP INTEREST OR OFFERS!!!!!!!!!! IT IS NOT A GOOD SIGN!!!!!!! I DON’T THINK IT WILL BE EASY TO TRADE DOWN!!!!!!!!!!”

  28. Hawaiian Buc Says:

“If you are hearing about a trade, that means that they wanted it known to try to drum up interest or offers!!!!!!!!!!

It is not a good sign!!!!!!! I don’t think it will be easy to trade down!!!!!!!!!!”

    ———

Unfortunately, I think you are right. This year, there is a clear top 3 players (non QB’s). Once those 3 are gone, I don’t see anyone worth giving up much for. I think this QB class is a lot worse than some want to believe, and I don’t see teams outside of the top 10 giving up the farm to get one. I’d love to be wrong, but I have a feeling we will stay at 7 and either get a CB or safety.

  29. Bucsfanman Says:

Somebody help me out here. What’s with the Hernandez love? He’s big. OK, but he played at UTEP.
Seems to me that if we’re not targeting Nelson, it should be Wynn that we want.
I’m just curious. I always hear Hernandez.

  30. MadMax Says:

    The “Lion season”…..

Detroit needs a RB and Barkely is still there @7…..do we trade down to their #20 plus pick up their 2nd and 3rd?

Thats a trade I would jump on in a heartbeat!!!

  31. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I don’t think we are making any calls….I think we are receiving calls……teams are positioning themselves to see what it will cost them to move up…..I could be wrong but I think Buf & Arizona are both potential trading partners.
I also wouldn’t rule out NE but that would involve players & picks to move that far up.

  32. MadMax Says:

@Bucsfanman….I present you, Big Will, enjoy Sir 🙂

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aux55iUNtk

  33. Bucsfanman Says:

TBBF- You’d have to seriously consider that trade. I don’t know if I’m picking the same guys as you though. Davenport scares me to death, he’s a 50/50 prospect from jumpstreet. I’d prefer Wynn over Hernandez and I might take my RB earlier. MIGHT! Maybe you grab DB or S help there.

  34. OneBucPerson Says:

Joe I’d make that trade in a heartbeat, a top-5 CB still in his prime as well as an additional 2nd round pick? If that’s the price for moving down 8 spots then sign me up.

  35. BucDan Says:

I think my favorite thing about reading trade down scenarios is listing out who would be taken with the extra picks. “Once we trade down, we are guaranteed these picks!” I love it.

  36. 813bucboi Says:

    realist

first time in 4 years you’ve said something smart!!!!!!…..lol……

I think team would rather trade with the raider, bears or 9ers…..it would cost them less…..

and if they’re talking about a trade, they’re just blowing smoke……and other teams know it….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  37. ADown88 Says:

    I want the Bills picks…

    #12: Derwin James

    #22: Sony Michel

    #38: Maurice Hurst

  38. BucFanFromOH Says:

    @OneBucPerson

I don’t think we can afford his contract. I don’t know a ton about how all the figures work, but we only have around 13M in cap space left (and we have to leave some to sign rookies) and Peterson’s cap hit this year is nearly 15M.

  39. The Buc Realist Says:

    @813bucboi

Good job on “getting it” it out so quickly!!!! If you and the other sheep catch on and keep it up, I won’t have to do so many repost because it takes months to a year for you and the sheep to figure it out!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. Bucsfanman Says:

MadMax- Thanks for the link. I like him, I’m just not as high on him as some. My reason is that when you look at the opponents he’s faced, there’s just no comparison to the SEC. Most of the DL he faced will be high school PE teachers in a few years.
Maybe he’s the next Marpet, who knows? He is strong and does have all the traits you want at OG.
I’m not opposed, just not overly impressed, that’s all.

  41. StPeteBucsFan Says:

While many here are sick of all the draft chatter and lies? spin? I’m actually enjoying this.

At the end of the day we’ll end up with whomever Licht picks but in the meantime the fantasies are going crazy.

Patrick Petersen? C’mon man. He was a 5th overall pick..he’s a physical freak with his size at DB and his speed. He would be a perfect addition for any team in the NFC South given the WR’s we face. He would instantly fix one need. Petersen and Grimes would be a tough combo and VHG or Smith or some additional UDFA or late pick could compete to be the 3rd DB and the backups.

Too bad we have to give up our 7th but it would be beyond worthwhile. But since we’re all fantasizing about stuff that’s never going to happen anyway…if we could get Petersen and Barkley and gas up and get ready to drive to Atlanta for the SB!!!

  42. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Tampabaybucfan Says
“If none of the big 3 are there at 7 then that means only 3 QBs were chosen prior to our pick…..there are several teams looking for a QB…”

You are summing these teams are stupid enough to trade up when the QB they want could likely fall into their laps.

Sure, you see the media talking about trades a lot right now…it’s their job to cover all possibilities. But most of the likely trades in the top 10 have already taken place.

You an I both know that every year we see the unexpected happen after the top 3 picks. There was a time when the top ten were very predictable, but teams have mastered the ability to distract the media into thinking they want something they do not.

These QB needy teams you mention…the top couple are obvious. The others? Well, after the top two QBs, the rest are pretty much low first round or second round worthy (of the names being talked about in the media. There is a reason that we see QBs fall in the green room every year. Its because the media convinces us that teams will want them early, when they actually do not.

For example…if you can get one of the top WRs in the first round, and the QB of need is available, but isn’t likely better than a QB you think will be there in round two, you take the WR.

There are always desperate teams that make stupid moves…the Browns for example. But for the most part, teams will try to make the smart moves. Of those stupid teams, there are usually only two…and this year, they both have top 10 picks.

  43. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If three QBs go, then the Giants will have surprised everyone and taken one to be the heir to Eli…but don’t count on it.

We want extra picks, so we are far from unbiased, so we see needs for other teams that are not as extreme as we think.

  44. MadMax Says:

Yeah, its cool Bucsfanman….small school players. But did you see how many times he was one arming them? Thats what Im talking about. Even Voch didnt point that out.

  45. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Bonzai

Agree with your assessment of this year’s QB’s. Plenty of them exist but none seem to really stand out. I’m not wild over the DE’s either.

@TBBF….I agree totally with your observation.

I’m not sure why everyone is writing off Vea because he might play better in a
3-4 defense. Many here also believe Spence is better suited to a 3-4. This does not mean they can’t both contribute heavily in Smitty’s defense which moves players around anyway. If we add Vea to the run stoppers we just picked up in FA nobody is going to humiliate us again by running it down our throats.

  46. Wausa Says:

If I am the Bucs and the Cardinals are interested in trading I would offer the Bucs 1st for the Cardinals 1st and 2nd this year and 2nd next year.

The Bucs could then pick Alexander, Hernandez or Guice with the 15th pick or if they got really lucky Derwin James could fall into their lap like OJ Howard did last year.

    1) Will Hernandez OG UTEP
    2) Mike Hughes CB UCF
    2) Nick Chubb RB Georgia

  47. 813bucboi Says:

  48. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Waiting for a QB to drop to you?

Let’s assume that Baker Mayfield is there at 7…..and let’s also assume that three teams are interested…..

If Buffalo is one of them…do you really think they would sit around and assume he would drop to them…or gamble that the other two teams won’t trade up…I think not…..this happens in drafts constantly….teams will move up for their players…
Just look what we did for Aguayo (yes, I know that hurts to bring him up)
But….not as bad as Tmax’s poison throughout this entire draft season…..
Thanks again, Joe for taking care of that for us….it has been a much more pleasant JBF experience.

  49. 813bucboi Says:

if we get buffalo’s picks, I hope we get:

    derwin james@12….
    guice@22

I think guice may go earlier than folks expect…..for our sake I hope not…..

And you are wrong about the stooges on the hot seat, NFL GM Jason Licht maybe, but not team Glazer!!!!!!!! And show a little more respect to the owners will ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And we heard the owners learn their lesson about creating distraction for their own team!!!!!! Just like Demar Dotson called it in a podcast!!!!!!! We just need the GM to fill the holes on the roster to match up to the rest of the division!!!!!! The GM is adding talent, We have good coaches!!!!! Just have to fill out the roster!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  52. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Here’s how I think the top 5 will play out:

    1 Browns – QB

2 Giants – People think they want Barkley. You don’t trade up to the second pick for a RB. They either want a QB or Chubb at DE. Probably Chubb since they need to replace JPP.

    3 Jets – QB

    4 Browns – RB

    5 Broncos – OL
The Broncos once had the best OL in the league. They’ll want to return to that. And they know the talent will drop off with the QBs after the top two are taken, so they’ll wait until round 2 for QB.

  53. Phil Says:

If we trade our number one for theirs we better get their number one this year, their number one next year and their number two & three this year.

  54. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

My ideal trade with Cards would be to swap 1st and they throw in their 2nd and early 3rd and we have a deal. Then we select Vea, Davenport, Ward, or Fitzpatrick if available with #15, and trade our newly acquired 2nd and 3rd to possibly NE to move back into 1st round and select best available RB Guice, Jones III, Chubb, Michel. With our original 2nd grab OL Hernandez, Wynn or Miller …any thoughts?

  55. BucFanFromOH Says:

Wow Realist w/ the mom jokes. I guess we all now know she’s roughly 10-13 years of age.

  56. Alanbucsfan Says:

The Bucs are down 2 OL starters from last year
They signed 1 in free agency
They need to draft 2 OL, at least 1 DL , 2 secondary and at least 1 RB
Unless they trade down, 3 of these picks will be 5th thru 7th round- low pct chance of making team
Licht and Koetter will need to be creative…

  57. hoover923 Says:

Marcus Davenport isn’t coming to Tampa. He’s a project, and he interviewed poorly with the Bucs, according to a reputable local Bucs fan site. There was also a comment that MD has a lot of other interests and may not be that into football. PASS. Big bust potential.

  58. Lord Cornelius Says:

This whole idea of the teams picking directly after us at 8-10 not needing QBs = a trade down is unlikely is super dumb to me. That’s not a “realistic” take for a realist.

You really think that if a QB 2-3 teams covet is available at 7 and we are shopping the pick those 3 teams are going to say “we won’t offer you sh1t because the teams picking at 8-10 don’t need QB”

That’s insanely stupid. If they want the QB they make the move to avoid other teams making the move. It’s basic sh1t.

Here is the basic logic of this draft and the top 7 picks:

There are 3 elite prospects in this draft and all at positions of need for the teams in the top 7. If any of them are on the board; the price to trade up is likely MUCH higher. As soon as those 3 are gone; and a team that doesn’t need a QB is picking; the pick becomes an auction but at much more reasonable prices. That could be at pick 6/7/8 but not any earlier as we know 2 QBs are going in the top 5.

I’d be absolutely shocked if the draft played out to where the big 3 went / 3 QBs went and the Bucs couldn’t get a trade down. There’s no way multiple teams would say “we’ll wait and trade with the Bears or Raiders because it’ll cost us slightly less”

Makes no f*cking sense at all.

  59. Lord Cornelius Says:

In general the only way I see us not being able to have a trade down option at 7 in the scenario that the big 3 are gone and 3 Qbs are gone; is basically if no teams picking after us value the QBs left highly. Like if Rosen or someone completely fell in the draft

That’s possible. But us not having a trade down partner will not have anything to do with the teams picking 8-10 not needing QBs. On the list of important variables driving the trade – that’s barely a factor.

  62. Pickgrin Says:

Cardinals 15(1), 47(2) and 134(4) gets the deal done for a trade up to #7 at fair value for both teams.

    Bucs then have Picks 15 (1), 38(2), 47(2), 102(4) and 134 (4). 5 picks in the 1st 4 rounds.

Those two 4th rounders could be used to trade up into the 3rd rd – up to about pick #92.

Bucs would gain a mid 2nd pick and recoup the 3rd rd pick traded for JPP in that scenario. Net 4 top 100 players including 3 of the top 50 players in this draft.

Tempting – but I would only do it if Chubb, Barkley and Nelson are off the board.

  63. Bucsfanman Says:

MadMax- I love seeing guys like that just “rag-doll” other players. He’s strong!

  64. rrsrq Says:

Pat Kirwan did that move in the mock draft last week, Cards and Bucs trade, then also traded back with the Pats – I believ the Bucs got. Derwin james, Derrius Guice, CB out of Auburn, Tackle out of Oregon and then another defensive lineman

  65. SOEbuc Says:

    Top Four

    Round 1- #15-Ward
    Round 2- #38-Hernandez
    Round 2- #47-RB
    Round 3- #97- Terrell Edmunds/ Ogbonnia Okorownkwo
    Round 4- #102- Ogbonnia Okorownkwo/ Jessie Bates

    Nice.

  66. gambelero Says:

About the idea of throwing a player or two in draft day deal, it’s often speculated about, but doesn’t happen that often on draft day. Most trades are subject to a medical evaluation. We’ve seen trades nullified this year because of failed physicals.

You can’t really make a draft day trade subject to a medical clause because you can’t go back and redo the draft. I wonder how the fine print in a draft day trade that included players would work. Maybe future picks put up as surety pending medicals?

  67. NFLNut Says:

    ***********

It sounds like Josh Rosen is dropping but I still think there is a 95% all 4 of the top QBs are gone by pick #6 … however, if he drops, I do think we can get a bidding war between the Bills, Dolphins, Cardinals … and maybe even Ravens.

Anyways, my original mock hasn’t really changed:

    BROWNS: QB
GIANTS: QB … or a trade to the Bills who also take a QB
    JETS: QB
BROWNS … trade to the Bills or Cardinals who take a QB
BRONCOS: CHUBB or Nelson or Barkley … probably Chubb
COLTS: Chubb or Nelson or Barkley … probably Nelson
BUCCANEERS: Chubb or Nelson or Barkley, whoever’s left, likely Saquon

Draft chart shows exchange of the 1st Rnd picks, plus their 2nd Rnd and their 5th Rnd pick are actually even, with us being a bit ahead at 1511.8 pts. But for more premium in the deal, we could request their 3rd Rnd pick instead of the 5th Rnd, using a trade back with them of our 4th Rnd pick for it, which would put us up at 1583 pts net. Not sure if they would give up this much however, as all it takes is one phone call to the Bears at the 8 pick right behind us, who also have no need of a QB, who may be willing to take less?

We could get #12 + #22 + #96 from the Bills, though I think the Bills move up to #4 and maybe even #2 if the Browns take Darnold and the Giants don’t want any of the other QBs … we could get a 1st, 2nd and David Johnson from the Cardinals … we could get a 1st, 2nd and 3rd from the Dolphins as well imho.

However, at this point, I think the top 4 QBs are gone by #6 at the latest and we get either Chubb, Nelson or Saquon … likely Saquon.

    Pickgrin,

My bad, Arizona does have a lower 4th Rnd compensatory pick, which I thought was not tradeable, however the NFL is allowing the trading of compensatory picks this year for the first time, so we could take their 2nd and 4th Rnd picks, with no need of trading back any of our picks and come out with a net 1519 points in the deal.

NFLNut – NO WAY the Bills are giving up both their 1st rd picks + a 3rd just to move up 5 spots to #7 and take a chance on the 4th QB selected…

The two 1st rd picks alone is more than enough value to get them up to #4.

  72. Pickgrin Says:

Atlanta Buc – I would like to see Licht squeeze that late 3rd rd pick of theirs into the deal instead of the late 4th as a premium for moving off such a valuable draft pick (#7 overall). Then he would have some legit “move up” firepower available – or just sit tight and pick 5 of the top 102 players in this draft…

    Pickgrin,

Agreed, I think we need that 3rd rounder for dropping all the way back to 15th in the first rnd. I have to admit, I would definitely prefer trading with Buffalo if possible to get the lower of their 2nd round picks and only having to fall back to 12th in the first and we would net 1570 pts for the 1500 pts pick value. We could still get the guy we were targeting at pick #7 and then pick up another great athlete in the 2nd along with our own 2nd round pick; that way we get at least three great players be it any of the following: DL or OL, RB, CB

    PICKGRIN,

I disagree with you. The Jets gave the Colts around a 40% profit in pick value to move from #6 to #3 … the market has been set. The Bucs would demand the Bills #12, #22 AND #96 to move up 5 spots as that would be right in line with what the Jets paid to move up just 3 spots.

No GM with a brain is going to accept “equal value” to move down … that’s idiotic. You don’t trade a rare $100k car for (10) common $10k cars; the team that wants the premium player, ESPECIALLY IF IT’S A QB, has to pay the premium price!
