Barring a trade down – whichever of the “Big 3” that falls to us I would be very happy with. Nelson seems the most likely so I voted OL.
If Chubb, Barkley and Nelson are off the board – with no decent trade down offers – then Derwin James will likely be sitting atop the Bucs Big Board. I’m not thrilled about drafting a safety #7 overall (again) – but I know James is the real deal and would be a hug boost for our secondary. James is a better fit for our needs than Minkah and a “safer” pick than Ward. Gotta get a stud player – regardless of position when picking top 10. Derwin James will be the next Eric Berry/John Lynch type of safety – of that I have little doubt – so perfectly OK with taking BPA if there are no trade down offers and James would be BPA with Chubb, Nelson and Barkley off the board.
The Bucs have so many positions that need to be addressed that it would be ideal to trade down and pick up a few extra draft picks, unless a Barkley or Chubb slips to 7, which I doubt happens.
I can’t believe you guys are still crying over spilt milk…and the milk hasn’t been spilled yet.
So let me see if I get this straight. You willing to LOSE on purpose to move up two spots in a draft where 40% won’t even be playing in a couple of years?
You see no value in building for the future by leaving a dramatic come from behind win to close the season. No value in letting #3 show us his arm is OK and so is he.
Meanwhile you’re whining waaasy too prematurely. First the draft hasn’t occurred yet and you don’t even no who we’ll end up with. We do not need a QB…we can definitely use a DE…RB and another OL..especially if we get a “generational” talent at one of those positions.
It may be lucky…we may end up having to trade down and get more picks some of which turn out to be solid NFL players.
The draft…including the very top pick…is a crap shoot….a win is a win is a win!
So, according to this poll (at this time), 9.11% of the people (total of those who voted for anything other than RB/OG/DE/CB/S) who voted are verified idiots … sad.
And, 32.73% of the voters (those who voted for anything other than RB/OG/DE) are low-football-IQ types … also sad.
Congrats however to the 67.27% of the voters that voted for RB/OG/DE as those positions correspond with the three best non-QB players in the draft in Saquon Barkley, Quenton Nelson and Bradley Chubb.
This poll doesnt quite work for positions. Has to be for Players..
Yes Chubb is still at the top of my list, and hes a DE. but if hes gone, then DE moves down my first round wish list because the next best guy is Davenport. I want Nelson second most, but not necessarily Oline in general in round 1. I definitely dont have CB at the top of my round 1 wish list, but its very possible that Denzel Ward would be the pick I make. Same goes for RB and Barkley. So this poll doesnt work. If the top answer is Defensive End, then its reflecting the fans desire for Chubb, not necessarily round 1 DE – which is what Id guess the Joes would say after the results conclude.
after seeing the results so far, RB is the lead. This obviously means Barkley, and not the RB position in general. Just letting the Joe’s this for any future reference made to this poll.
I agree with you … now, I will say I wanted the Bucs to tank the Jets and Dolphins game when Fitzpatrick was in their, and had they done that they could have finished 3-13, still won their last game dramatically which I believe was great for the team, and ended up with the #3 pick!
Now THAT would have been amazing, as we could have traded #3 to the Bills and received their #12, #22 and their 2019 1st rounder.
However, I’m thrilled with the #7 pick and expect us to either get Saquon, Nelson, Chubb or to trade down for a great package of picks!
ALL teams in the NFL have multiple needs…some teams more than others..but let’s talk about the Bucs.
I was literally panicked about our DL. Licht’s FA moves have ended my panic but I still view it as a “need”.
In order I know believe our needs are equal at DE…RB…and OL. I realize folks here are going crazy for a CB. I place that beneath the top three and I feel it will be the easiest spot to fill.
DE’s and OL’s are freaks of nature. How many guys that size are walking around with speed and athleticism. DB’s are the most average size on the entire squad…kicker aside of course. There are many….many…more talented guys who are six feet 200 and athletic just walking around in our general population.
I do NOT want to waste a first round pick on a DB unless it’s near the bottom of the round. We can find a competent DB plenty of places…if we actually started rushing the passer…knocking him to his butt…getting hands up batting throws…at minimum moving the QB off his spot and disrupting his timing it’s going to make our DB’s and LB’s instantly better.
Hmmh,so a year later this fanbase still hungry for premium rb. Didn’t take seeing Dak win 13 games as rookie (with one) to realize the importance. Didn’t take seeing Bortles almost go to a superbowl (with one) to realize the importance. Didn’t take watching a career backup win a superbowl (with a few horses) to realize the importance of having a premium rb. Goff did alright,h3ll even vanilla @$$ marita did okay. But stop dreaming Buc fandom, they’re drafting a cb.
We will get a RB in the 1st or 2nd rd NOSBOS. Pick #102 at the latest.
Cook lasting until pick #42 last year is pretty good evidence that he was not worthy of the #19 pick – at least as judged by pretty much every NFL GM. Licht did allegedly try to trade up for Dalvin about the time he got picked but was obviously unsuccessful – so he tried to get your boy for us at what he thought was the right value…
I’m glad the Bucs drafted the players they did last year.
OJ, J. Evans, Godwin and Beckwith is a great haul for 1 draft.
I hear that Pick, but you do realize DC was second in the league in rushing at the time of the injury. That while sharing rush attempts with Murray and McKinnon. My humble opinion was he only went in the 2nd rd because of off the field concerns.
I picked corner back. I would like to see the Bucs pick a premiere defensive player but if the Bucs really believe the RB available can be the next AP you draft that guy.
D-Rome they won’t need the next AP if they make they’re business to snatch up Nelson by any means. Sony in the 2nd. Solidify the o line man. They’ve aquired a premi edge rusher that has to be gameplanned for. This team needs to learn how to score points. Eagles D was one the best in the league, pats still put up over 500 yards against them. Bucs don’t play an aggressive style of D. They play the bend but don’t break D. Solidify this offense.
NOSBOS – agree about Nelson – except for the “by any means” part.
Sony Michel will be long gone before the 2nd rd even starts. Looking at Nick Chubb or Penny with our 2nd rd pick most likely.
I like Sony a lot – he would be a great pick for the Bucs at #38 – but not top 20 which is probably where he will go.
Only real shot at Sony for the Bucs is to trade down w/ Buffalo – take BPA for defense at #12 and then hope Sony is still on the board at #22. Would be too expensive to trade back up into the 1st as high as I think he will go. We don’t have the 3rd rd pick necessary to pull that move.
we were 4-11…..whats the difference between 4-12 and 5-11……maybe chubb….maybe nelson…..maybe a boat load of picks….
and to answer your questions, NO I don’t see any of the value your talking about…..Winston showed me he was fine 2 games before the season finale vs ATL when he went 27/35 and 3TD’s…..the best way to build toward the future is thru the draft……we could’ve been in a perfect spot at 5 to trade down and get a kings ransom….that would’ve allowed us to build towards the future…..multiple picks…..
that last drive showed a decrease in value for dirk……nothing like a HC being shown up by his young QB…..that was very telling….Winston ignoring dirk has more value than the win itself…..it shows Winston knows football and more importantly situational football……
I said it is what it is…..im over it….but I don’t remember fans in an up roar when we tanked for Winston…..
again, that last second win wont carry over to next year….if that was the case, they would’ve carried over things they did well in 2016 into 2017…..but every year is different….every year presents new challenges…..
but we’ll see….maybe your right….maybe im right…..time will tell…..

How about best available?
April 10th, 2018 at 8:59 am
I think a trade down and drafting Jaire Alexander is my dream scenario for the 1st round. So I voted CB.
But really a DB in general is a good idea. Dont care if its a CB or a Safety
April 10th, 2018 at 8:59 am
Double down and get another pass rusher.
April 10th, 2018 at 9:07 am
Why is Quarterback even up there? And yeah Best Available should have been, that’s kind of a no-brainer.
Howeva….SA-QUONNNNNN, Say-gonnnnnn Barkley is the ONLY PICK!
Go Bucs!
April 10th, 2018 at 9:27 am
What? No option for kicker?
Barring a trade down – whichever of the “Big 3” that falls to us I would be very happy with. Nelson seems the most likely so I voted OL.

“huge” boost. Where’s that edit button you keep promising about Joe??
April 10th, 2018 at 9:31 am
It’s best available
April 10th, 2018 at 9:33 am

IF only we had tanked..Chubb might be ours…………..
April 10th, 2018 at 10:30 am
MJ….if only they had played normally…
April 10th, 2018 at 10:45 am
K2 nailed it as that is the only correct answer to this question. Pick the best player that will also will a need and those needs are.
Cornerback (due to the fact that we need two this is the top need)
Running Back
Strong Safety
Guard
Defensive Tackle
Defensive End
Swing Tackle
April 10th, 2018 at 10:46 am
Best Available of the Big 3 or trade down.
April 10th, 2018 at 10:47 am
Also the fact that 13 people voted QB says a lot about this fan base.
April 10th, 2018 at 10:49 am
MJ
I agree…..either chubb would be ours or we could demand a kings ransom for that top5 pick……oh well….it is what it is….
