Guicemode
April 18th, 2018This may just keep Bucs fans up dreaming of next week.
Joe has no idea who the next running back for the Bucs will be when Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht selects new players in the draft. It is difficult to imagine him not drafting any running back.
Well, Joe would be quite happy if Derrius Guice of LSU wound up on the Bucs. The only way Joe can see that happening is if the Bucs trade down or back into the first round. It’s hard to imagine Guice would last to the Bucs second round pick at No. 38 overall.
Former NFL offensive lineman and current NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger is breaking down tape of running backs in the draft on his Twitter account and he is in love with Guice. In the clip below, he compares Guice’s stiff-arm to Le’Veon Bell or Marshawn Lynch.
Watch the clip below and tell Joe what you think.
.@LSUfootball @DhaSickest with a stiff arm that is as violent as it gets. Where does it rank on the stiffarm meter? #BaldyBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/hwsltXXgTJ

Screw trading for Le’Veon Bell.
If your gonna make a trade, get this guy.
April 18th, 2018 at 12:27 am
I call it “the defender was really off balanced”…..
Cmon now………he does have star potential but comparisons to bell and lynch is a bit taking it too far
Honestly…….if this guy sets the nfl on fire I’d be surprised…..he seems like all hype before the draft
There’s other under rated RBs that I think will do better
April 18th, 2018 at 12:28 am
That’s one of them ….we need at least two backs from this draft!!CONTINUE TO BUILD A WALL ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BAY!!
April 18th, 2018 at 12:43 am
There will still be plenty of good backs in the 3rd rd…….that’s where the GM should be targeting
April 18th, 2018 at 12:56 am
Bucs anthem….there will be good RBS in the 3rd, we don’t have a 3rd though, and our secondary might be a more immediate concern, our next RB will be a committee type back in the 4th, John Kelly, Nyheim Hines, Royce Freeman, Kerryon Johnson are potentially available guys after the top 5 guys are gone
April 18th, 2018 at 12:59 am
Barkley, Guice, Michel, Chubb, Penny, Ronald Jones are the top 6
April 18th, 2018 at 1:10 am
i would loveeee this guy but i don’t think we’ll get him I really like Chubb from Georgia I think he’s gunna be healthy as anything now and I think he’s gunna be a complete monster I like Sony also a lot two I would love any of Guice Chubb and Sony but truth be told we are pigeon holed we have to draft a RB in the second so like I would take Ronald jones or penny also
April 18th, 2018 at 1:13 am
To* and joe i wish you had an app my man i always feel like the way this website is set up it’s weird on a phone like it’s always delayed when I type and what not idk i obv love the site to death my man but i do wish you had an app lol
April 18th, 2018 at 1:27 am
A lot of good running backs 2nd to top of fourth. Nelson first, then let’s play run through the wide open hole with Chubb or his equivalent.
April 18th, 2018 at 2:20 am
I’VE LOVED GUICE SINCE HE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL! The kid has the talent to lead the NFL in rushing and can catch too, and yes, he runs extremely angry!
Also … I don’t know about waiting until the 4th round to draft a back as I believe Saquon, Guice, Michel, Chubb, Jones II and Penny will all be drafted in the first 2 rounds and guys like Freeman and Kerryon might go in the 3rd. If we wait all the way to the 4th, the best we may be able to do is Marc Walton, Bo Scarborough or Nyheim Hines and I don’t think any of those 3 guys are anywhere near the talents the top 6 guys are …
April 18th, 2018 at 2:23 am
gambelero gets an Amen from this corner.
If Nelson makes the hole, someone will run through it.
I have watched complete game films against ranked teams for all of the top RBs, and Guice impresses me the least.
April 18th, 2018 at 3:16 am
Which guys in this draft are a capable of pass pro?
We keep talking about how good they are, yet that never comes up.
Anybody remember why Peyton barber could t get on the field as much???
Koetter said because he struggled in pass protection.
Hard to believe the Bucs will take another guy who struggles with the same thing as the guy he’s supposed to replace.
April 18th, 2018 at 6:25 am
TheBucsAnthem … “There will still be plenty of good backs in the 3rd rd…….that’s where the GM should be targeting.” Even IF we had a 3rd Rnd pick (which we don’t but might recoup in a trade-down scenario), all the top RBs (potential game-changers) will almost surely be long-gone by then (Barkley, Michel, Guice, etc). Bucs need to pull the trigger on their future bell-cow RB in the 1st or 2nd Rnd, then hopefully follow up in the latter Rnds by drafting a 2nd RB with complementary skillset (still vote for Bo Scarborough in the 6th). Injuries are a fact of life in the NFL, and Bucs have lost 2 RBs several times in recent past.
April 18th, 2018 at 6:26 am
This is the RB this team needs. Trade back and get him.
April 18th, 2018 at 6:37 am
Guice = RB1
April 18th, 2018 at 7:05 am
Nelson at 7 then trade up for Guice.
Or trade down with Buffalo and take Derwin James at 12 then Guice at 22.
If it’s Trade with Arizona I would take Guice at 15.
This guy is this missing piece to our power/play action offense.
April 18th, 2018 at 7:52 am
Guys, finding “gems” like Kamara or Hunt are the EXCEPTION not the norm. If Guice is there, you get him. He’s the RB that Tampa Bay needs, a runner with attitude!
April 18th, 2018 at 8:10 am
Research Guice’s knee injury(ies). Research Guice off the field at LSU. Research Guice’s lack of pass pro, and pass catching proficiency irrespective of “asks” at LSU.
SAQUON BARKLEY.
Go Bucs!
April 18th, 2018 at 8:42 am
Several good RBs. Personally, I agree with those comments about Nick Chubb. Hope they trade down from no. 7 and take him in round 2.
April 18th, 2018 at 8:47 am
Joe wrote about that before. Guice was asked at combine about lack of receptions and he said he wasn’t asked to do it that often.
Joe thought that was a fair response.
April 18th, 2018 at 8:54 am
Joe & BetterBucc- At his workout, he ran receiver drills for the scouts in response to that question.
April 18th, 2018 at 8:56 am
My guess is Guice will go top 15 after Barkely who is going probably top 5.
April 18th, 2018 at 8:58 am
🙂
That’s good that @Joe thinks “that was a fair response”, that’s fine. THIS Bucs fan thinks not only that (they didn’t ask me to do it a lot routine) doesn’t pass the smell test, just as Fournette wasn’t worth a darn at it either while at LSU. They don’t incorporate it fully as an integral part in their offensive scheme because Guice and Fournette aren’t worth a damn at it. Fournette still isn’t. The key is…proficiency. NOT getting by.
Take a look at Guice off the field. And his knee concerns.
No point in having to “work” to like someone, much less to draft them.
Go Bucs! Go Bold! Go Barkley! Go Primetime!
April 18th, 2018 at 9:17 am
Get him and draft bo late and we will have quite a backfield
O line is still pedestrian though.
April 18th, 2018 at 9:30 am
that is a great run, but in the NFL he would have been tackled back at the five or so.
Unless he was playing the bucs then he would have gone all the way….
April 18th, 2018 at 9:33 am
The only way the Bucs stay at 7 is if they can get Quenton Nelson. Otherwise they move back.
April 18th, 2018 at 9:38 am
@BetterBuccinBelieveIt
You keep saying to research Guice’s “off the field” concerns yet you never mention any of them.
I cant find anything so I would appreciate it if you let me know where you are getting this information.
As far as his injuries go, has he had them? Yes. But he only missed 2 games in 3 seasons.
You’re pro Barkley agenda is becoming comical
April 18th, 2018 at 9:38 am
If everyone has been paying attention they have been talking about getting nastier up in the trenches and emphasizing about it all offseason. They are either going to get Nelson or their going to move back so they can get Hernandez and Guice if possible but will for sure get Hernandez!
April 18th, 2018 at 9:39 am
They believe in their guys they got. More time in a system will help each player always. Trust the process.
April 18th, 2018 at 10:09 am
DRAFT GUICE!!!!!!
DRAFT BO SCARBROUGH!!!!!
#NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!!
April 18th, 2018 at 11:07 am
Ahhh…@Poppems.
Luv it.
Go Bucs! Go Bold! Go Barkley! Go Primetime!
April 18th, 2018 at 11:51 am
i haven’t seen much of Guice, but the reason i want Michel is because I’d love to finally have a back that didn’t get caught from behind when he got to the third level….
Still hoping for a trade with Buffalo involving their 12 and 22 or with the Cardinals involving Johnson and their 15
April 18th, 2018 at 12:15 pm
@BetterBuccinBelieveIt
I was serious. If you have info about Derrius Guice’s off the field issues the send me a link to where you found it because I cant find anything.
Until then I’ll just assume any RB not named Saquon Barkley has “off the field issues” to you.
April 18th, 2018 at 1:14 pm
@Guzzie
Agree with your list although I believe Barkley is in a class by himself and Guice while not in that class is the next best. I toss the rest into the same class.
@Celly
Guice doesn’t have blazing speed like Barkley but he’s a barely sub 4.5 40 so he’s not as slow as the others. Mainly he runs really hard and with ‘tude.
My fantasy is Barkley…realizing that’s not likely…next fantasy…Nelson and Guice. Mean blocker…mean runner.
April 18th, 2018 at 1:25 pm
On this play, why did he cut his run back to the inside?
April 18th, 2018 at 5:14 pm
@Poppems….
When I (or anyone) refers to “off the field” issues, in general that phrase is used in reference to “judgment” while away from structured team football activities, or out of the season. That said, MANY punks attend and fester at LSU, see Arden Key, Tyrann Mathieu while there (reformed), and many many others from 2013 to present. It’s punk central, it’s who they recruit.
So when anyone asks themselves, as a starting RB at any major college level program, and has NFL hopes in the future….”should I do this if I were hoping to run the ball for a living in the NFL????”Of course, someone in the ilk of Saquon or many other RB candidates entering the draft, would not.
See below…..
1. Who the EFF makes this ishh up?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/04/06/nfl-is-expected-to-find-no-improprieties-in-derrius-guice-case/
2. In the wacked-out Bayou down there…sure (?!) starting RB’s do this sort of thing, especially when they want their legs to, ya know…still work for the remainder of their SCHOLARSHIP, not too mention the NFL! Make sure to read the text in the article.
https://www.seccountry.com/lsu/watch-derrius-guice-tries-wheely-atv-falls-off-somehow-fine
3. Campus police questioned him in another “altercation” in 2016 and retracted the details to do other “inconsistent” parties involved.
Bottom line….it’s PUNK central down there @LSU. They recruit punks, they allow punk behavior, they don’t train together in the offseason (to keep them on the right track–see Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, etc..)
If you want to pine for the punk, that’s fine. It is your prerogative. BUT NO ONE of sound, mind, and body, can compare a Derrius Guice, to Saquon Barkley, in any facet, or in all facets.
BTW….Guice injured then RE-injured the same knee twice 2 months apart during the 2017 season!! No thanks, on the longevity of that, see Jay Ajayi. NOPE.
So yeah, I’ll stick with my “comical” Saquon Barkley. You can have the idiot punks.
Go Bucs!
April 19th, 2018 at 4:39 am
Seems like you just hate LSU lol. Being asked if he is gay and doing a wheely arent off the field issues lol
April 19th, 2018 at 6:28 am
And I never said it is comical for you, or anybody, to want Saquon Barkley.
Your reasonings for wanting him are the comical part.
