  1. Rod Munch Says:

You take a running back at the top of the 2nd round you expect them to come in and start from day one. Being a 2-down back to start with is just fine, but if he’s not starting day 1 then it means he’s either injured (which would be bad since he has the delicate flag on his draft profile) or he’s slow to pickup the playbook. Hopefully he’s in there and ready to go, if he’s really the game breaker people think he is then he should make a difference right away and it will be fun to watch.

For those complaining about lack of catching ability, there’s plenty of RBs that couldn’t catch that come to mind, mainly 2, AD Peterson and the Muscle Hamster himself, who despite Joe’s hate is the only 1st team all-pro RB in team history.
Joe doesn’t hate Doug Martin, never did. Joe had no use for his lack of production and suspension in 2016 and, not surprisingly, what he did in 2017.–Joe

  2. Not there yet Says:

Everyone loves the new guy coming out of college that’s never played on the professional level. I expect every rookie to earn their start

  3. LocalJoker Says:

I expect every 1st and 2nd round rookie to start.

  4. Eric2706 Says:

Jones the starter but he and barber should split the load. I don’t think either can do it for a full season. If if they bit h stay healthy they won’t have to. My main concern is soft was training camps. Time to ratchet that $hit up. These lines going against each other should be fun to watch

  5. BucEmUp Says:

I don’t see anything on these flash polls…

  6. BucDan Says:

Chuck Sims has slight breakaway speed, however he doesn’t play with a “run through you style”.

Peyton is a bowling ball, but he’s not going the distance anytime soon.

Ronald Jones is supposed to be a home run hitter, with the ability to plow through defenses (for his size). Let’s see what he can do.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Potential starters from the draft.

    Vea
    Jones
    Davis
    Cappa (depends on Sweezy)
    Whitehead

  8. LargoBuc Says:

Barber will probably start and get a majority of the carries with Jones coming in on certain situations. At least at first.

  9. Pickgrin Says:

Of course you WANT your shiny new RB picked high in the 2nd round to come in and look great from the getgo. But it doesn’t always work out that smoothly.

Lots of new pieces to work with and “chemistry” to build.

Bucs have the next 4 months to sort it all out.

  10. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

I love Peyton, but Rojo is the freakin man!

We basically just drafted: Jamaal Charles, Melvin Gordon, Shady McCoy…

Jones is those guys (plus more, hopefully).

  11. Eric Says:

If the man breaks along run and doesn’t get caught from behind I might have a heart attack.

  12. ManzielMadness Says:

I see them splitting carries, I don’t believe Jones is an every down back but hopefully we can use him similarly to the way the Saints use Kamara.

  13. Roy T. Buford Says:

The fact the highest percentage the unknown who has never taken a snap in the NFL speaks volumes…

  14. JAB83 Says:

So we should start a rookie over a 3rd year guy that has over a 4 yard per carry average. Knows the offense and his QB.

HMMMMMMM, 1146 of you are in for a SHOCKER!!!

Jones is projected to do exactly what he did in collage. Just be happy with that. He may fold as a starter.

The pressure is on Barber’s shoulders. A man well suited to shoulder the load.
    Same with Vea.

None of our draft picks really have any pressure on them. Ala RobertOhhhhh-No

They just need to perform to the best of their abilities. The veterans are why I’m excited about this team.

Wouldn’t feel good about this season if our draft was all we had.

    JL made this possible.

    Hat Tip

    Next Man Up? COACHES!

This is the time of year you earn your money!

    Geter DONE!!!

    Go Bucs

  15. chargedcbh Says:

Why are so many people in love with Barber? I don’t see it, he is an OK player. I still would prefer for the Bucs to bring in a vet RB

  16. JAB83 Says:

    @chargedcbh,

He is, “The Man”, that’s why.

Do some research. Not only is he super talented, he is an over comer and a fighter.

His attitude and work ethic will be the hard to match. IF Jones comes in and matches that. We will have a 1 2 punch NEVER seen in these parts.

Thunder and Lightning would be child’s play.

These guys will be Shock (Barber) and AWE (Jones). The order is what it is.

Agree we need a veteran back. This is why I want “All Day” here.

We would have a “Shock and Awe, All Day” (Adrian Peterson) backfield…
