Buyer Beware
February 26th, 2018A few hours after the free agency dinner bell rang in 2016, then-Bucs running back Doug Martin seemed to flirt with other teams as he didn’t immediately re-up with the Bucs.
At the time, talented Dolphins running back Lamar Miller was also a free agent and some Bucs fans — including Joe — thought Miller may have been a better option. As it turned out, a greyhound from a local rescue agency would have been an upgrade as Martin turned out to be a total dog.
Now with Martin’s days with the Bucs over, and one-trick pony receiving back Charles Sims also a free agent, the Bucs, as Joe types this here story, have holes in the backfield that must be addressed.
Could Miller again be on the radar of Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht?
Per Sarah Barshop of BSPN, it seems the Texas are mulling over the possibility of cutting Miller to boost their salary cap cushion.
Miller averaged a career-worst 3.7 yards per carry and finished with 35 fewer touches despite playing in two more games than he did in 2016. Foreman saw more playing time as the season went on and showed improvement before he tore his Achilles in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals. Foreman had surgery in late November and is expected to be ready for the 2018 season.
Joe would be a bit surprised if the Texans throw Miller aside. Yes, they want to give D’Onta Foreman the rock more, but Foreman blew out his Achilles and needed surgery. That’s pretty dicey for a running back.
Awfully risky for the Texans to get rid of an established veteran, especially when his replacement is hardly a sure-bet to return at 100 percent. And it spooks Joe that Miller, who will be 27 when the 2018 season kicks off, had his worst yards-per-carry average. That’s sort of a red flag.

I was always underwhelmed w this guy since joining the Texans. Never showed that burst he had in Miami.

Pass, especially if we’d need to trade anything for him …

Licht will probably pay him $6 mil a year and get nothing from him

This would be one of the dumbest moves they could make

no thanks

Beware indeed. He might be one of the few guys we can get that wouldnt be an upgrade.

Bucemup,
Don’t underestimate this Team’s ability to dumb things.

Miller is NOT an upgrade. At least Martin broke tackles in the backfield, this guy would get tackled by a blade of grass!
A big PASS!

Let’s get a brand new set of tires to put on this Bucbandwagon.

If only the Bucs had a bell cow like Blount. If only…

Pass on Miller but I’m in on CJ Anderson who could be relatively cheap compared to his value.
