Lawrence Agent’s Cold Shower For Bucs
January 28th, 2018Some Bucs fans are holding out hope that Cowboys edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence, off a 14.5-sack season, hits the open market in six weeks so AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht can throw open the Team Glazer vault.
However, Lawrence’s agent, David Canter, all but closed the door on those hopes when speaking with ESPN’s Jenna Laine this week. He admitted he cannot foresee the Cowboys failing to reach contract terms to keep Lawrence in Dallas.
“I would imagine that they’re probably not just letting us get to free agency and leave Dallas,” said Canter. … “Whether it results in a contract extension, I don’t know, but we’re not afraid of the franchise tag either. I imagine the franchise tag will be higher than the average per year that I got Olivier Vernon a couple of years ago, which is $17 million a year, and I’m sure the Cowboys know that. I can imagine, just based on having done the analytics of their books and their cap situation, it’s not something they’d prefer to carry, but certainly they can and they will.”
Canter confessed the only way he can envision Lawrence hitting the open market is if the Cowboys, like the Dolphins two years ago with Vernon, say all the right things during the winter but neither sign nor tag Vernon, which is how Vernon was free to sign with the Giants.
The only way the Bucs will land a decent veteran defensive end, it seems, is via trade or if some team lets a guy go as a result of a salary cap casuality (hello, Michael Bennett?).
When Adrian Clayborn is likely the best available free agent defensive end, that’s a low bar.

and as Joe always says : why do you want someone else garbage ?
January 28th, 2018 at 8:16 am
Well if Im licht Im signing Clayborn. He has got to get a few and get a rotation going. He better hope lawrence or ansah makes it too. Then drafts one in rounds 1 or 2. He now knows mike smith wont help him out so its all in or adios.

Word on the street is that the Cowboys would trade their 1st (17th) and 3rd round (81st) for GMC93!!!!!!!!! Instead of needing 5 players to make GMC great , switch to a 3-4 and then would only need 3 players!!!!!!!!!!
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!
Fix the “real” problem, the “trenches”!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol stfu troll

Trade GMC to Cleveland to move up to #4 in the first round and move up to #1 in the second and third round. Good deal for both teams without either giving up picks!
January 28th, 2018 at 8:43 am
Realist
No team is giving up anything for A broken down dt who is A locker room cancer and POS career loser…
Getting rid of cancer93 had to beteams
January 28th, 2018 at 8:44 am
Has to be teams top priority. Cant win with soft fragile captains like cancer93
January 28th, 2018 at 8:53 am
No way Dallas’s would pay 1 and 3 for GMC.
If so, we make that deal yesterday.
January 28th, 2018 at 8:55 am
Free agency is nothing more than an over rated garage sale. Mostly crap that someone has no use for but trying to unload on some sucker who is willing to pay. Again I will say NO ONE gets rid of their rising star players! What you get is cop hating, chain pulling, pot smoking, gun toting, fight starting, cabbie slapping, disrespectful, loud mouthed, over hyped, A$$ Clowns who’s only good contribution would be to the girls in the spaceship on Dale Maybry. Did I mention they are as old as dirt!

I get it Our Bucs need a DE or three. What is to happen if the Bucs sign Me. Bennett and he is what he was his first 3 seasons a backup with not to much to back up, he was years younger as well. Yes his last season here how many seasons ago he had 9 sacks Great, for whatever reason management or ownership or coaching let him go. Where he only 1 season had the elusive total for DLman on our team with 10 sacks fantastic. What did he do when he was here for four seasons, 3 pass defensed, 4 fourced fumbles, 2 fumbles recovered, 15 sacks total 4 seasons, 84 tackles and 14 assissts. I get it he has been way better as a Seahawk in his 5 seasons there. He has been a player. I am just not sure he will come back here and be as successful as he was in Seattle, who did he have on the other end of this DLine? Who was like need up beside him at DT in Seattle? What type of Defense do they play in Seattle? Is it like Coach Smith’s D only 50 times better? Again I get the bewonderment about what might have been, it is the nightmare of paying for what you think your getting and realizing you got burned that makes me tempid to take Mr. Bennett on any longer than 2 seasons. As of now Mr. Bennett will have 33 candles on his birthday cake during the 2018 season. 1 at the most 2 season contract for Mr. Bennett is my take on it. First is only one guaranteed.
Go Bucs!

I doubt GMC is worth 1st round pick. He is on the other side of his career….2nd rounder at best. The other thing not being calculated is if Lawrence does hit the open market would he want to come here? I think the shine of playing with Winston is starting to dull after last season. Our team image is poor in the market.
This team is in serious trouble when you compare it to the other 3 teams in NFC-South and in reality a good 3 years away again from being a playoff team due to the failures of FA and the draft. You just cant pick up Ayers and Baker in FA then draft Aguayo and Hargraves and not be held accountable at the talent level. Look at the 2016 draft, we may be able to say soon that Davanta Bond is the ONLY NFL player from the entire draft class. Spence- what a miss in the 2nd; its safe to say now he was a reach.
January 28th, 2018 at 9:23 am
Lol, why would the buccaneers trade away their best defensive lineman? Some of you so called fans are clearly smoking some good stuff or are plan idiots
January 28th, 2018 at 9:54 am
Hey tamxcon…. So you have accessed the Bucs Locker Room and seen the negative cancer impact that GMC has on his team mates? Broken Down?
Boy, what a sweet contributor you are to Bucs Fan support… Turd!

Buc jim ia a moron
January 28th, 2018 at 10:00 am
Dealing with mulitiple injuries (knee & shoulder) WR John Ross -2017 season never took off. Consequently, now they’re still on hunt for an explosive receiver to pair w/AJ Green. DeSean Jackson?
And since Carlos Dunlap ($6M 2018) is heading into a contract year.
Maybe a player swap + additional compensation gets a deal done.

Bucnjim Says
“Free agency is nothing more than an over rated garage sale.”
Simeon Rice was a free agent.
January 28th, 2018 at 10:07 am
Laugh at Claybon all you like. But My eyes saw the man playing with passion this past season. He was in on a lot of rushes and tackles. Disrupting offenses left and right. He had more sacks than our entire Defnse all season. Kinda Sad huh? No free agent wants to come to a loser unless he’s been here before Or..you are opening up your pocket book. And the Glazers ain’t gonna open but but so far…..
January 28th, 2018 at 10:21 am
Realist what in God’s name are you even spewing. Word on the streets is that’s what the cowboys will trade for GMC…do you even believe the no sense you say. I mean good God I’ve read alot of stupid comments but that tops the list and sets the bar
January 28th, 2018 at 10:33 am
Word on the street – what street do you live on – stupid lane
January 28th, 2018 at 10:34 am
One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure Joe(Hence the Dolphins releasing Brent Grimes and Mr Licht signing him.)say we can land Michael Bennet Joe,then who is our second option…
January 28th, 2018 at 10:44 am
You’re hanging out on the wrong streets.
January 28th, 2018 at 10:46 am
Wasn’t Demarcus Lawrence drafted 4 picks ahead of ASJ in the 2014 draft?
January 28th, 2018 at 10:48 am
We don’t care about this dude. I want the bucs to face their fate. It’s licht who neglected the defensive line all these years and this guy hiring the market would probably be the luck he needs to get an extension with the bucs. Nope I would like for him to see the error of his ways before he is shown the door. How could you ignore the most important positions on a roster unless you have no visible.
He should have had John spytek job and had no business being a gm. So why has this team lost for over a decade? The answer is simple, the glazers are still being cheap as hell. They won’t hire a credible coach or a credible gm with knowledge and experience, we keep getting these rookie GM’s and coach that don’t know crap
January 28th, 2018 at 12:32 pm
Realist
93 would be a great 5tech.
January 28th, 2018 at 1:49 pm
We should seriously consider drafting DE Marcus Davenport if DE Bradley Chubb is taken before 7th pick
January 28th, 2018 at 2:43 pm
I can boil down the FA discussion (in this case DE) to one simple question. Is player X better than who we have on the roster? Then go get them. This applies to Bennett, Talib and anyone else.
January 28th, 2018 at 3:47 pm
Is there anyone so dumb that they actually think the Cowboys will let a young guy coming off a 15-sack season walk? Wow. If you thought that you should go immediately get sterilized as you shouldn’t be breeding.
January 28th, 2018 at 4:30 pm
The Bucs need to bring in a minimum of 8 new faces on the offensive and defensive lines to COMPETE, battle the incumbents, improve the starters, and bolster the depth.
Period.
Fix the trenches, fix the Bucs!!
January 29th, 2018 at 10:31 am
We have depth at LB and LD is on the downside, maybe has one or two good yrs left I say trade him grab a second and build thru draft, get CB in talib or trumine , draft 2-3 DE , sign ziggy or Poe at DT and grab a RB we should be able to make playoffs after that , if we need more draft ammo to get it done trade djax for a second and have Goodwin step up with humps in slot
January 29th, 2018 at 10:32 am
Also think we should trade up grab a Extra prick or two and get keys at De
