Eagles’ Success Unnerving Bucs Fans

January 21st, 2018

Stud RB acquired with a cheap draft pick in October.

Yes, Bucs fans, Joe is reading your Twitters directed at Joe while watching the NFC Championship game between the Eagles and Vikings.

And as the Eagles took a 17-point lead at the half, there is ample evidence of questionable personnel moves — reasons why the Bucs are the Bucs and the Eagles appear to be heading to their third Super Bowl appearance.

Of course, any time LaGarrette Blount does anything, it drives Bucs fans mental. Joe’s been over this before and won’t go into much detail other than to again type how Blount was a major pain in the posterior. Let’s just say Joe has a hunch Blount wouldn’t get Christmas cards from Kwon Alexander and America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

What Joe finds ironic is Blount was essentially replaced by drafting now useless Doug Martin. And while the Bucs foolishly banked on Martin this season despite more red flags than a political rally in Beijing, Blount looks to be on his way to another Super Bowl since the Bucs parted ways with him.

Oh, and unlike Martin, Blount is productive and he may very well still be starting in the NFL next season while Martin is unemployed. Not too many teams are willing to sign a backup running back who had the lowest yards-per-carry in the NFL the last two seasons running who doesn’t play special teams.

Then there is Eagles running back Jay Ajayi, who the Eagles purloined from the Dolphins for a fourth-round pick. Read that again: A fourth round pick!

But the Bucs had Martin; they didn’t need Ajayi.

And to rub salt in the wounds, Eagles defensive end Chris Long is having a helluva game. He was a free agent last season and signed with the Eagles for a paltry two-year, $4,500,000 pact.

The Bucs? Nah, they have Ryan Russell. All good.

And folks wonder why Bucs fans are currently peeved at the team?

(Oh, anyone remember who Joe begged the Bucs to hire for a defensive coordinator two years ago? Same guy who looks to be 30 minutes away from coaching his defense in the Super Bowl.)

I think you may have had a few…..Joe…

About the last thing on my mind watching this game is Doug Martin….and not getting Long.

I mean….can we simply watch a game without coveting teams for having some of our rejects……sure Blount was OK….ran for 1000 yards….but he had some attitude problems….and, wasn’t it under the great leadership of your buddy, Mark Dominick?

What I am thinking when I watch these two teams is that with a mediocre QB….if you have a good defense and a running game, you can get to the Superbowl……just like we once did.

To make myself a better person I am quitting internet porn and this website. For the same reason- I always know how it ends before I click on the link, I learn nothing I didn’t know beforehand and I would be ashamed if somebody knew I spent time on it.
You are amazing. Let’s see, just today, you already knew what Derrick Brooks said on national radio last week (on a show not heard on the Tampa airwaves) and you already had a take on potential free agent corner in Seattle. Don’t let your mouse hit you in the … –Joe

Unfortunately the Bucs don’t have the mind meld helmut that the Patriots have that transforms former thoughts and habits into out of body playing abilities and not to mention model citizens. When the Patriots reign eventually crumbles I can’t wait to read the book of how the do it!

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

And….as far as the subject brought up in the other article tonight…..I would certainly rather have one very good player than two mediocre ones.

We have had some luck with mediocre players but most seemed to get injured…Jack Smith, Louis Murphy, Mike James…..and that WR Shorts before he was injured.

Our problem is busting with high draft picks…..

2nd rounders…..Bowers, Price, ASJ, Aguayo, Banks…..Martin in the first round and losing a first round pick for Revis……there is 7 starting positions that we shouldn’t be looking for.

  6. Not there yet Says:

Goes back to your previous point long ago. If the game see it and the media sees it but this regime can’t see it there’s a serious problem. Either light is a horrible gm or has to get permission to sign a player.

I guess taking Martin’s picture off the building is this regimes way of moving on. No wonder he looked angry on the sidelines when I saw Martin but it’s ok they made sure to play you for nothing as he’ll likely never wear a football uniform again but her he knows the offense so I’m sure koetter will resign him again

Licht and Koetter get along so well because they are both timid apparently

  7. lightningbuc Says:

“Let’s just say Joe has a hunch Blount wouldn’t get Christmas cards from Kwon Alexander and America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.”

LOL! Like Blount cares. People don’t like getting Christmas cards from losers. Everywhere Blount goes, he’s a winner. Guarantee he’s like “Tampa Who?”.

  8. Dlavid Says:

Spot on again and yes this is pushing more off every game I watch . Players galore that we passed on in FA or drafts or released for unknown reasons ….. blah blah blah ….. and bringing back the same D staff ! WTF ! Wondering how I can support this team next year after 41 years . The losing , the horrible coaching hires , outside of the Dungy / Gruden era it has been a real shi* show !

A guy like Blount is a great example of the difference great coaching and winning cultures make.

The same rule apply when you see good teams hit on free agents while we WiFi year after year…….These teams are just master evaluators. They have excellent leaderships. It matters

Lagarrett Blount Season Stats vs Peyton Barber Blount $2.8mil Barber $540k

    173 108
    766 423
    4.4 3.9
    2 TD 3
    8 Rec 16

Sure the thug Lagarrett Blount averages a bit higher per carry than Barber but I would sure rather have a guy who left school to buy him Mother a home than that giant P,,,,,O, S….t.

  16. Pelbuc Says:

JBF, you’re right about DC Schwartz. Bucs ended up with the clown/ retread hired bc he’s buddies with Koetter. To think, when Eagles fired Kelley, they were a mess and now they’re headed to SB. Some franchises have competent front office execs. Too bad it’s Philly.

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m not worried. We had 21 of 22 starters injured in 2017. We have some holes. Licht and Koetter will fix it.

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Blount is a turd……NE & Pittsburg let him go….so are they idiots like we are?……He was an UDFA…..nothing ventured, nothing gained….oh, we did get the great Jeff Demps & a 7th rounder for him……Hoorah!

  20. JimmyJack Says:

Funny tampabaybucfan. Nobody in New England or in Philly says anything like that about Blount.

The obvious difference is his environment. Maybe another way to look at is is that we just have P.OS. Leadership here in Tampa. The same leadership that ran off a mile-long list of “problematic” players that went on to have much more success then they ever ever had here.

  21. JimmyJack Says:

Agreed SB…..It takes a very fickle fan to be jealous of successful teams…..We should be aspiring for our Bucs to be like them not be jealous about them.

  22. NFLNut Says:

The EAGLES are a loaded team … and their coaches are amazing as well … I hope they destroy the Patriots though I don’t see that happening …

As for the Bucs … we’ve got the pieces on offense to be better than the Eagles but the coaching is lagging behind and the defensive side of the ball, including the coaching, is just a disaster

  23. LakeLand Says:

    Congratulations,

    Legarrette Blount
    Stevie Means
    Najee Goode
    Bernard Reedy

You wasn’t good enough for the Bucs
Who is in a 10 year playoff drought

But now you’re on a Super Bowl roster

  24. JimmyJack Says:

Nut, I wouldn’t quite say that as we have a one dimensional offense. But I think the running game could be easily fixed if we get the right running back in here. Especially if we wind up drafting Nelson.

  25. SB Says:

7:21 here. I am going to make my last Bourbon and Coke and lament my losses. $100 on Jax and $50 on Minny and realize that my new putter will have to wait until Spring. Lol. Win some lose some.

  26. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Yea….JimmyJack

NE & Pitt loved him so much they both dumped him,,,,,and he was doing so well in Phil that they traded to bring in Ajayi……like I said….he’s simply a TURD.

  27. Joe Says:

Blount is a turd……NE & Pittsburg let him go….so are they idiots like we are?

Um, Pats let him go because of $$$. Pittsburgh let him go because, they have some dude with the name of “Bell” at running back.

Oh, and it seems Bell is more of a turd than Blount.

  28. LakeLand Says:

    LeGarrette Blount,

    Three Super Bowls Appearances

    Maybe another one this year

    The guy just wins

  29. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “And folks wonder why Bucs fans are currently peeved at the team?” Ooooh oooh, can I play Joe? I know this one. Jason Licht. Am I close? Huh, am I?

All you folks talking about these other coaches in the playoffs maybe should take a look at the TALENT that’s on these playoff teams. Yes, they’re good coaches, but they’ve actually got some TALENT to work with. Bucs are so TALENT-poor that we have no decent criteria to judge how good or bad this coaching staff is. Bucs have some solid position groups (LBs, WRs, TEs, QBs) but we’re also bereft of TALENT in areas such as DLine, OLine, RB, Secondary. We’re just not a complete T-E-A-M at this point.

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

ASJ is another turd (literally) that we dumped….

Yea….he’s doing so great for the Jets.

Avg 7.1 on 50 receptions for 3 TdS

Our rookie avg. 16.6 on 26 receptions for 6 TDs

So more yardage on half the receptions and double the TDs

    Oh…you say…but Howard was a first round draft pick…

    OK….How about Brate…UDFA

    48 receptions averaging 12.3 with 6 TDs…..

    Anyone miss ASJ?

  31. SB Says:

Anyone want me to mix them a ‘Montana Rough Stock” and coke???

  32. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs went 10-6 with Legarrette Blount as the Workhorse RB. They were a bad call away from the playoffs. The Bucs hasn’t sniffed 10 wins since.

    The guy just wins

  33. Defense Rules Says:

@Tampabaybucfan … “Our problem is busting with high draft picks … 2nd rounders…..Bowers, Price, ASJ, Aguayo, Banks…..Martin in the first round and losing a first round pick for Revis……there is 7 starting positions that we shouldn’t be looking for.” You’re right TBBF, and the difference between winning & losing teams sits right there. Good GMs simply don’t miss on 1st & 2nd round picks. We habitually do that and it’s killing us (since 2010 I’d also include Benn, Barron & to a lesser degree Spence and VHIII since jury’s still out there).

  34. Rod Munch Says:

Another article where Joe goes off the rails and just rants about Martin… LOL! Come one Joe, just let us know what happened, we all want to know.

  35. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Joe,

The last time I checked most teams have more than one running back so the Bell excuse for Pitt doesn’t hold water…..and I hardly think less than $4mil breaks the bank for NE…..

And….since when did simply being on a SB team make any player an automatic star?

And…..if you are correct and we were fools to trade Blount….who made that deal?

  36. cmurda Says:

Jim Schwartz defense by itself scored as much as the Vikes as well as setting up another TD. I can’t help but wonder how our Bucs would have fared with the defensive genius. Ugh.

  37. Rod Munch Says:

I was a HUGE fan of Blount when he was here and it’s one of the reasons I hated the Jersey Trash ™ Schiano so much – when you have two RBs, use them! Instead Schiano gives him away to his b-buddy Belichick in hopes that Bill will finally return his love.

Blount still has perhaps the greatest run in team history, the run against the Packers in GB – and the underrated run at Arizona, which was probably the last time the Bucs won out there.

However I don’t know the story with Blount, Alexander and Winston – which I’d assume is because Winston and Alexander weren’t on the team when Blount was here.

  38. JimmyJack Says:

Tampabaybucfan just read what Joe wrote. Your Obvisously either ignoring or just don’t know the facts.

And bang on ASJ all ya want. The Jets actually like him and plan on getting more from him next year……….Guy, it’s the NFL and you gotta work with people that don’t always have the best of characters…….Afte4 all they have chosen a profession that allows you to inflict pain for a living. Different breed of cat dude. And there’s nothing wrong with a few Aholes on a football field. Can actually be a good thing.

  39. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Blount has rackied up 6 carries for 21 yards on his way to the Superbowl…..whoopie, whoopie doo!!!

He had all of 2 TD this regular season…..what a great, great…Superbowl star!!!

  40. Joe Says:

Blount has rackied up 6 carries for 21 yards on his way to the Superbowl…..whoopie, whoopie doo!!!

You see Martin’s stats the last two years? 🙂

  41. LakeLand Says:

I actually believe the Bucs are doing guys a favor, when they release them. Look at guys like Gerald McCoy and Lavonte David, Will Gholston, Demar Dotson etc. Those guys has went no where with the Bucs. Then you have guys that the Bucs release, go to the Playoffs/Super Bowl. The Bucs released Luke Stocker in late November and he went to the playoffs with Tennessee. They released Bernard Reedy in Mid-November and he’s going to the Super bowl.

  42. Joe Says:

However I don’t know the story with Blount, Alexander and Winston – which I’d assume is because Winston and Alexander weren’t on the team when Blount was here.

I think after this post season it is clear we need a new GM. Licht is garbage at putting a roster together. That and he has no idea what a good football l player looks like. I mean how could anyone watch and meet Chris Baker and think he is someone you invest in? Look at the people not players he has brought in. Baker =lazy, Djax=selfish, Ward=selfish, it’s like he doesn’t even talk to these guys? I mean is something wrong with him or does he just not know what a team player is?

  93. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @Not there yet

Tampa has a lot to learn about fan support. Ten years plus of sour grales have so blinded them that they refuse to see the forest through the trees. Ever hear of the twelfth man?

Take a good look at these teams that have huge fan bases. When is the last time the Packers won a super bowl? They have dedicated fans who know how important fan support is to a team.

I had hopes last year that the Stick Carriers would be the change in the fans that this team needs, but as soon as the going got rough, where were they? Where are they now?

Going into last year, we all saw the true potential of this team. It was not a fluke. Injuries did this team in for the most part. Injuries, a couple bad free agents and the fact that some players needed time to develop.

It wasn’t bad coaching. It wasn’t a losing culture. This team fought constantly.

That’s what fans should latch onto…the fact that this team never quit. As long as that remains the case, good things will happen. It’s time the fans follow the team example..don’t quit.

  94. Ed Schwartz Says:

Drew Brees exposed the Vikings defense in second half as they couldn’t cover over 15 yards. Alshon Jeffery got behind their defense for the TD, Torey Smith got behind them twice, dropped a TD but made a great catch for the others. We all saw it 2 games in a row, an accurate throw on the deep ball beat those guys. Our guy while great throwing in front or in between the zones or to the sidelines would not have made the same throws Foles did and thats one of the reasons why our offense didn’t score many points vs Minn.

I do know one thing, Jim Schwartz’ defense played lights out and Pedersen’s play calling vs Minn. was some of the best I’ve seen. Both Philly’s defensive and offensive lines dominated the lines of scrimmage, one of the easiest victories ever in an NFC championship game.

  95. LakeLand Says:

I know that Blount plays for the Eagles. I was responding to someone who was saying that Blount was a non-factor. But he scored 6 points, even though it was in a blowout against the Vikings. The Pats won by 4 points. So how can a player be a non-factor if he score a TD (6 points).

  96. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Bonzai

First I noticed in the Times today that an Uber driver had killed his passenger after a heated disagreement. Can’t believe you let that one slide. 🙂

Second. Philadelphia and Boston are MUCH larger markets than Tampa. In addition they have have Corporate HQ’s…we do not…big corps that buy season tickets and suites in bundles. They SHOULD have better fans support than us!!!
Philly fan and Patriot fan earn FAR more on average than workers in Florida in our tourist based…”service” economy. Yeah even their average fans have a lot more disposable income than we do…and yes it makes a difference.

As for the Pack…as someone who spends three months a year in Pack territory it’s not fair to compare ANY team to the Pack.

Their fans are literally their OWNERS. How does that work out? Well when those socialists totally redid Lambeau Field with all the bells and whistles of other stadia they actually brought it in UNDER budget. Meanwhile in free enterprise not a single…NOT ONE owner/community combo brought a stadium in even close to budget.

When you look at the jerk Sternberg brought in to hose us out of our tax dollars and land..think New York Yankees and look at how FAR over budget that stadium was?

Pack fan is truly special as are the Pack. How many fights have occurred in our stadium with Philly/NYC/Boston fans? How many with the Pack fans? And they used to come here every year but I do not hear much grousing about them being aaaahowles like the Philly fans.

Philly has been in the SB, but never won one. Not sure about the Vikes. Bucs went to 1 SB and won it hands-down. Watched the Putrids (Pats)-Jags game. Jags are so much better than the 40-year-old-who-colors-his-hair-QB, and the rest of them. I wonder what the final score would have been if the game had been played in Jax? Refs never called holding on Putrids. Only roughing call they got right was the helmet-to-helmet one that knocked that Gronk guy out. Bucs would have beat them if Buc Luck hadn’t struck with no kicker. Will skip the S(tupor) Bowl as am sick of the Putrids. Hope Philly wins their first SB.
