We’ve played hard for 3 games in a row and it’s enough for everyone to forget a stretch where we half-a$$ed our way to blowout after blowout. And there’s truth on some level of Jameis losing faith in Koetter. Next year could be brutal, but because we “fought hard” and got a couple moral victories under our belts our soft fan base and team are happy with a returning losing coach.
If the players and coaches don’t care about winning, why should I keep sinking time and money into this joke of a franchise in a league that is clearly in decline.
Awesome, cant wait for another mediocre season next year with a head coach who doesnt even understand clock mangement. What a f….. joke.
I love the bucs and have through many coaches. I cant see dirk holding a lombardi trophee with his blunders and average offense.
I voted other. I’m pretty indifferent. I think both opinions have valid points. I’m pretty tired of the coaching carousel. I’m tired of the losing too. Whatevs
The next great news will be contact extension for Sims and keeping Dougie, Dirks favorite toys! Hey and let’s draft more skill position players and ignore the trenches AGAIN! This franchise has sucked almost my entire life!
Gruden was the only guy worth firing him for. If that’s not happening Ill stick with Koetter. I know we always say no excuses but this season was doomed from the start. Hard Knocks didn’t help, bad weather cancelling practices, Hurricane taking away bye week, Injuries ect ect. Jason Light has been the biggest bust with free agency. We have the most expensive D-line? Our O-line is horrible.
More mediocrity from our playcalling and coaching aspect! I see us going 3-13 or 6-10 next year. And you wanna know why we suck? He hire the outcasts and rejects from the worst teams. There’s a reason why the falcons fired Dirk Koetter AND Mike smith. Koetter lost the locker room and next season will be no different. Hell, he’s gonna bore us to death with his post-game speech “we gotta play better” or “we have to score more points”. Why can’t we have a real coach with real grit? One who calls out the slackers and players who constantly do stupid stuff on and off the field?
Mixed feelings. I have been in the give DK another chance camp but part of me was warming up to the Gruden coming to Tampa reports. Overall, I would have to say I’m glad he’s getting another year to turn around the ship.
Im alright with it…..time to stop the coach carousel. But he needs to fix the coaching 101 basics probs hes had. I think a new DC and a few new additions to our D (specifically DE Chubb and maybe Vita Vea [trade up]) should help us a lot.
Bring in a new DC and let him hire a new defensive staff…..Get rid of (release): Desean Jackson, Chris Baker, Robert Ayers, & Doug Martin….trade Gerald McCoy for a 1 or 2 draft pick…..Draft 2 DE’s an OT, and RB in the first 3 rounds of the draft….sign Cam Brate and Adam Humphries to extensions….Godwin takes over the #2 WR spot….target Safety, Center and DT in free agency.
What a huge disappointment these last three years have been. Now we get another year with the same coach who can’t score more than 20 points a game and the same garbage quarterback who can’t throw a deep ball to save his life. Gruden is a smart man not wanting to tarnish his legacy because he has to work with Jamarcus Leafwhich aka Aimless Loseton. He will wait for that POS to be cut after his 6 game suspension, Bucs will lose more games next year and be desperate to the point that he will demand 10 mil a season, have the #1 pick in the draft and get a REAL NFL QB who knows how to keep his hands to himself and not lick his fingers in the process. Next year Ray Jay will be even more empty than this year and we will continue to be the 4th best team with the 4th best coach and the 4th best QB. What a freaking joke this team has become since drafting Winston!!
#0-16
Eric…Sad but lovable folks…those paying hard earned dollars …which considering the average wage in Tampa means long and hard work…buying season tickets year after year, to watch this bad team.
Thank god more sense from upper management than you idiots who insist on getting a new coach and new coordinator and new system every 2 years.
That is the number one parameter that every losing franchise has in common.
Instability.
Constant change.
This team is a couple players away from competing for the division title and half these pseudo fans would rather throw everything away and become Cleveland, start over again every two years.
It’s absolutely idiotic.
I don’t know if anyone has noticed! But we’re at the same level as Cleveland already!! So instead of changing coaches this year, will wait a year and change coaches next year!!
If you can’t figure out how to use the weapons we got on offense your never going to figure it out. This offense should be going up&down the field.
I would LOVE to see all of you NFL coaching experts hating on Koetter prepare a plan, execute it, adjust at half time, and use perfect clock manangement. Now that would be FUNNY!
It’s about time that this ownership realize changing head coaches every two years is counter productive. This team is young and still needs a lot of pieces. Since the Gruden area we have changed head coaches and general managers every few years. Allow these talanted people time to grow with their personel they bring in. As far as free agents you get what you pay for. If a team doesn’t want to keep a player, I am sure they have a very good reason. Allowing our team an opportunity to mature and grow together takes time and patience. I don’t think it’s time to give up on Mike Smith, time will tell.

We think your the damn idiot saying we’re a couple players away. People like you have been saying that for a freaking decade like Tampa is the only team that participates in the NFL draft. Because the coach sucks and gets fired we’ll become Cleveland? We’re Cleveland because we lose and can’t make the playoffs
If we’re a couple players away then what about the teams that go into the draft having made the playoffs dude? They’ll get better too so the only way we’ll get into the playoffs is with the coach with three mind for it not some guy still learning time management and player management skills. Young coach and gm equals another year missing the playoffs I for one will find something better to do. I’ll watch the team but find another team that also plays hard but owners and management have common sense
Changing coaches every two years isn’t what the owners do. There are actually people that suddenly think Raheem Lovie and Schiano should not have been fired? Please step up and make yourselves counted!! It does appear that there are morons that think Mike Smith is the reason we are losing aside from 2-3 games over the past two years it was the defense that got is all of the wins. It was the defense that was the talk of the Town last season not the trash offense which is worse this year with more weapons.
Anyone can win with a superstar at every position so I guess Florida plays more Madden than the rest of the country but that’s what people think will make us winners

I honestly can see both sides as to why we should fire or keep him… hard call
December 29th, 2017 at 4:40 pm
It good that Dirk Koetter is coming back. It’s not his fault that he is tied to a dumb GM. $66 million in cap space and nothing to show for it.
December 29th, 2017 at 4:49 pm
As long as he gives up play calling and cuts Martin I will not be happy.
December 29th, 2017 at 4:52 pm
As Lovie used to say ” very disappointing ” but hey we’re Bucs fans…. feels like the 80s all over again!
December 29th, 2017 at 4:54 pm
To the pit of misery! Dilly Dilly!
December 29th, 2017 at 4:54 pm
I’m giving up my tickets. That’s how I feel.

I’ll find something else to do with my Sundays.

Bravo!!!!! Now lets here that Coach Smitty is too!!!!!!! And get that man a reall DE for next year and everything will be fine!!!!!!!
An apology from the Glazers for creating a distraction at the beginning of the year with the NFL’s reality TV show would not hurt as well!!!!!!!
Fix the Lines and don’t make larger problems!!!!!!!!
GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 29th, 2017 at 4:58 pm
Im more concern with lack of game time decisions
Playing martin (players who don’t produce ) over barber who produced

They go 5-11 or worse next season and get another top draft pick. Who knows maybe, just maybe they make the playoffs in 10-15 years.
December 29th, 2017 at 5:28 pm
All I know is we should of had a high powered offense this year and we didn’t!

Eric mangini was just in plane to Tampa with my family member , hmm coordinator interview ??
December 29th, 2017 at 5:59 pm
I think the Glazer’s didn’t want to go through an off season paying multiple coaches at the same time. It took forever to pay off gruden and schiano

Thank you Glazers!!! Glad to give Koetter another year… he’s a good coach… unlike the infamous, incompetent, Lovie Smith
December 29th, 2017 at 6:18 pm
The only way I see this working is:
Bring in a new DC and let him hire a new defensive staff…..Get rid of (release): Desean Jackson, Chris Baker, Robert Ayers, & Doug Martin….trade Gerald McCoy for a 1 or 2 draft pick…..Draft 2 DE’s an OT, and RB in the first 3 rounds of the draft….sign Cam Brate and Adam Humphries to extensions….Godwin takes over the #2 WR spot….target Safety, Center and DT in free agency.
December 29th, 2017 at 7:12 pm
Why get rid of DJAX guy can still play when thrown the ball he caught it , of thrown in target and not overthrown like JW did.
Thank god jeagan yoir not a GM u live in fantasy land.
Get rid of only DLINE man that produces. Haha than back to square one cause I’m sure you believe every draft pic will workout that u select.
December 29th, 2017 at 7:17 pm
I’m telling you…remember the name…. Les Steckel. You will be hearing it alot next year.
December 29th, 2017 at 7:21 pm
Who are kidding, Chucky said NO and now they are stuck.
December 29th, 2017 at 7:38 pm

Thinks the coach and QB suck.
Really?????

Jameis and Dirk are scum and suck???
You’re clueless.
