I think the tanking days have passed us by. Best case scenario is a move up to 3rd..worst case we drop to 9th…most likely we draft in our current position 5th.
It’s not a big deal like drafting first which allows you to pick any individual player.
As for tanking for any reason…nah….I think a rousing win…35-28…#3 finishes with his first turnover free game in forever…hits DJAX..ME13 and OJ for TD’s.

We need numbers in the trenches. If a QB desperate team or another team needing our spot wanted to sweeten the pot with extra picks I’d certainly listen.

The Browns will likely now either take SAM DARNOLD at #1 and SAQUON BARKLEY at #4, or, and maybe more likely, Saquon #1 and the best QB available (probably Josh Allen or Baker Mayfield) at #4.
Either way, I expect the pick to now be Bradley Chubb, and if the Colts take him at #3, I expect us to TRADE DOWN with a QB hungry team and maybe take Arden Key or Clellin Ferrel … in short, I’d be shocked if we drafted anything other than a DE with our #1 pick.

I just can’t root against my Bucs especially against a division opponent.
This is not a meaningless game for the Saints….or many of the Buc players…..it’s not meaningless to Carolina either.

The Saints didn’t tank last season when they beat the Bucs in week 16. They came into the game hoping to knock the Bucs out of the playoffs. They beat the Bucs, dropped in the draft and still had one of the best drafts during the past 20 years.

I am as frustrated, if not more than most on here about our coaches, GM and QB. However, why are we worried about how they play today? We know we need 11 defensive players and some help on the O-line. I for one have given up a few weeks ago and am just hoping we can get the highest pick possible. Sure I want to see them play well and do just enough to lose. The main focus should be “winning” a high pick.

OK I need one of you football guru’s to clue me in.
Each team gets eleven players and then they choose how to deploy them.
If they select a mismatch in one area…as in a double team..they have to surrender coverage in another area. And so unless the Bucs are not sending the normal number of receivers and are just running a couple out there….how does the other team get to double and triple team any of our receivers without another one being wide open somewhere?
I honestly do not get this. Are our plays so messed up that the other guys are not getting open? Is #3 so fixated on ME13 that he just keeps forcing it?

Also, Winston isn’t a bad QB. First he is still young and has been relatively injury free – the kid is still learning and growing up. If we had a respectable RB that would go a long ways towards making. Winston that much better. Also a solid O-line would help too. There is also the pressure of Winston and everyone else in the world knowing our defense is one of the worst in the league. Throw in some coach controversy and that is a lot for a young QB to handle.

My random thoughts so far: The offense is playing respectable except for Jekyll and Hyde-Jameis throwing two INTs and constant throws into double or triple coverage. Barber sits for an entire drive at the end of the first quarter in favor of Doug Martin? Why Coach?! This is the last game. There is no need to rest people. Evan Smith is having a really bad game. The special teams coach will be fired. One thing about Coach Koetter: I don’t think that he is stubbornly loyal to assistant coaches. The Stick Carriers would know more about that than I would (since they awarded him the Godfather picture). What can I say about the defense? The Joe(s) would ban me from this website for the profanity, and so I won’t go there. Besides, the third quarter is about to start. Go Bucs!

in case you guys don’t know two int games are common in the nfl. it happens to every QB several times per year. it’s not as big a deal as your making it out to be.
what seperate the good from bad QBs is 4th quarters and if they can drive the ball she the game is on the line and the pressure is on. Winston can drive the ball in those situation IMO. he does not crumble when the game is on the line. the guy can hANdle the pressure and the win will come when the team around him can do more to get us into these moments and to close out games.

I can recall many times deep in the careers of a Brees, Ryan, Newton, Mannings, Brady, Rothelisberger, Luck, Wilson, Rodgers etc. etc. etc where they look horrible and throw 3+ picks in a game making rookie mistakes and bad decisions/throws. We’re talking about 5+ year ‘elite’ qb’s looking straight up awful from time to time. It’s funny how those qb’s still manage to post winning seasons during those rough patches. Idk, not entirely sure what that’s about but it MIGHT have something to do with the team and situation around them. You know… for all you who also want to bitch about ‘his’ record.

And had the Panthers won, the Saints would have LOST THE DIVISION and dropped all the way to the 6th seed … they were playing their hearts out today and got beat by the Bucs … the Bucs are nowhere near as “far away” as some of you think

The difference between 3rd and 9th pick are not a franchise maker or buster.
There is a 50% bust rate for those picks anyway. Licht has played well ahead of those odds with that one bad draft of Aguayo and VHG. Otherwise he’s had two drafts of four studs each…and I mean stars!!!!
If Licht can and four this year for the trenches we’re set. They don’t need to be JJWatt…they need to be solid producers capable of 10 sacks if not 15. 2 of them…2 more starting level OL to push our current lineup…and we’re set. We can always nab a decent running back and in fact Barber is decent and growing.
