Telling Quote From Kwon
November 13th, 2017Players like to talk in clichés. In some ways, players are coached up by an organization how to speak that way. It’s safe but not enlightening in any way.
Yesterday, Bucs middle linebacker Kwon Alexander was asked about the tremendous defensive effort in beating Gang Green, keeping the Jets out of the end zone until just seconds left in the game, and allowing only three third downs to be converted.
Now what Kwon said in answering a question about the solid defensive effort on the surface sure reads like a cliché, but Joe thinks this may be different.
“We all played together,” Kwon said.
Hhhmmm? Yes, this may be an empty cliché. But what Joe had been hearing both on the record (like here and here) and off the record the past couple of weeks, it sure painted a sharp picture of some players half-arsing their way through practices if not freelancing in games. The results on the field were self-evident.
Given the fact the defense likely turned in its best effort of the season (the defense against the Patriots was damned good, too) and Alexander said the key was the defense played together, Joe’s going to take an educated guess that all the Bucs defenders were on the same page last week and motivated to beat the Jets and snap the losing streak at five games.

It looked like it. Now, if only the offense can put it together in that same vane.

If you’re going to continue to keep holding back MM Joe podcast until early to mid afternoon time, then you need to change the name. How’s it the Monday Morning Joe podcast when it’s between 1-3 in the afternoon b4 it’s finally released?
Podcast has never been released that late, and see more of an answer below. –Joe

All I know is that I kept seeing this #54 flashing on my screen. He was so sick and scary I told my mama “mama there goes that man again”. I was clinching my blanky in fear. That #54 is a bad bad man. Just plain NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 13th, 2017 at 12:31 pm
The only thing good I remember Raheem Morris saying as head coach was:
“I will tolerate you…until I can replace you.”
He was all talk…but Koetter and Licht actually do it. They can’t start cutting players right now, but come the off season, we’ll see who the locker room issues are.
My money is on Baker being the biggest issue. He is one lazy SoB.

@DB55
It’s great seeing 54 actually making a difference.
I have to wonder if he stepped up his game because he realized Beckwith could replace him if he didn’t.

Buc4Lyfe79 got you there, Joe. LOL

This just boggles the mind. Don’t they know they get a grand total of 16 chances to show their worth and to play together. To blow even one of those opportunities is just ridiculous and embarrassing to those individuals who are doing their own thing.

Agree with Bonzai.
We obviously had effort / passion issues this year – especially on defense. Yeah we had some injuries but so does everyone.
If there is anything to gain from this season; it’ll hopefully be the final weeding out of the weaker characters on this team / in this locker room; and identifying the type of players we need to bring in in terms of character.
Sadly that sh1t shouldn’t take 4 years to figure out with the same GM being here all that time; but it seemingly has. Then again Light has only had total roster control 2 years. If he just had a solid 2016 draft his resume and this team would probably be looking a lot better. But the 2017 class definitely looks promising with 4 solid contributors this year (Howard/Godwin/Evans/Beckwith); and 2014-2015 still looks to be the nucleus of the future.
We’ll see how the team finishes but god it just feels good to win. The next couple games are winnable.

Totally agree except for the fact that Baker brings fight to the front 4 and has outplayed the ice cream man all season. Plus he’s making his teammates better. For example, in the 2nd qrt around 10mins left Mike Smith put in 90 & 98 in the middle and these dudes flourished. Baker owned the oline making play after play.
But yea other than that he sucks, lazy fat sob if you ask me. 🙄

So was he saying fingerlicker was sucking up all the oxygen in the room ?
November 13th, 2017 at 12:44 pm
I’m not one to blame this on HK…but I do believe the overall LOVE for the Bucs prior to this season DID get inside their heads. They made a typical and tragic mistake of believing their clippings.
A five game losing streak has certainly disabused them of their grandeur!
Now we get to see what’s really inside of them.

A yo Bonzai. People make millions of dollars writing good comedy like this. You should interview with Louis CK or somebody. You have a gift my friend.

^^^Joe why can’t you please everyone?! LMAO damn dood chill.
A. Joe has never released the MM Joe podcast after 1 p.m. Second, Peter King and Sports Illustrated have an entire website called Monday Morning Quarterback. Are they supposed to release everything on Monday morning? Joe delivers the podcast when it’s ready. Appreciate the passion. It pops on Monday,, sometimes morning sometimes noonish. Simple as that.–Joe

^^^^ F#@k yeah you can look at Gase in Miami, trading, benching… Koetter and Licht have no backbone that’s why they play the way they do. Like pampered babies and that’s coaches trying to be friends. Need to tough love at one buc.

You know times are tough when JBF fans are complaining about the timing of the release of the JBF MM podcast. I think some of you have too little to do.
OK, back 2 work 4 me (whip crack!). The podcasts are like a fine wine; they need time to breathe.
November 13th, 2017 at 1:06 pm
The Bucs will finish 5-11 or 6-10, Not even close to being good enough.
November 13th, 2017 at 1:18 pm
All the more reason to get rid of a coach who allows players to half arse it in practice. A real head coach would never allow that, Dirk is running this team like his last college coach gig. He’s not qualified and I don’t like the coaches Jason licht interviewed either or he really has no vision or they wanted to get rid of certain players when scouting this roster and licht wouldn’t allow it
November 13th, 2017 at 1:26 pm
@Joe
You should rename it the “lovie morning Joe podcast” since he would have “morning” practice in the afternoon!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feel bad for guys like David when the Bucs stink.

So what changed? Why does this team have to wait until half the season is over to “play together”? Why does it take losing to motivate them?
Good teams dont have to ask these questions.

“So what changed? Why does this team have to wait until half the season is over to “play together”? Why does it take losing to motivate them?”
next years roster spot…here or elsewhere…these guys will be lucky to make one years salary equivalent over the next 30 years in the real working world
November 13th, 2017 at 2:27 pm
Gee, what changed? Gee,..donno, right? No one wants to say the obvious. Let’s see what happens next week…
November 13th, 2017 at 3:20 pm
I can only hope this week was the beginning of the Defense playing with a sense of pride. #54 is the heartbeat…when he is healthy and given the opportunity to make plays, he does not disappoint. When he is on, the energy of the team is different. He has been on a tear the last couple weeks and I hope this game was the start of the rest of the defense raising their level of play!
I love #93 and I’m just waiting for one of those “3 sack, completely unblockable games.” If he only gets 4 one-on-ones in a game, I need him to play with his hair on fire and win two of them. To whom much is given, much is required.

Ironic that the Bucs “D” played a solid game with Hargreaves injured early in the game?
November 13th, 2017 at 6:38 pm
Before they were playing with themselves!!!
November 13th, 2017 at 8:56 pm
a win is a win…but watch the jets finish out the season at
6-10…they’re prolly the top team in the league that fits into the “playing over their head” category…and i bet it has ended…
focus on sacking the crap out of cutler next weekend…rattle him and you have a chance to get something started…
time to go on a major winning streak, or get koetter a new set of tumi
