I sure thought 21’s hand got on Evans before the ball got there! I thought ME should’ve gotten a few calls. I always do though and he rarely gets the call.

  2. DoNUTS Says:

PI – no doubt about it.

  3. unbelievable Says:

    PI for sure.

Did you all see how many PI and defensive holding penalties were called in the Monday night game last night? Yet the zebras in our game called 1, when there was twice as much contact on a regular basis.

The officiating in the NFL has completely sucked for the last 5 years.

There is NO consistency from game-to-game, week-to-week, crew-to-crew. It has ruined the game from what it used to be.

  5. Kobe Faker Says:

“Trade this bum for a 2nd round pick…If Tampa gives this average receiver 15 million, it will set this franchise back for 5 years…use the the 15 mill for a top defensive lineman and draft corner/de with the 2nd round pick”

    Kobe Faker

“Godwin and OJ will be our top targeted recievers in 2018”

  6. Kobe Faker Says:

    LOL PI?????

“You catch with your hands…not your body!”

“Hey Monken! you offensive smelling imposter! what the hell you teaching these recievers?”

  7. 813bucboi Says:

idk….I played cb in HS and collgeg….looks like a bang bang play to me….the ball is touching evans hands and trufant is swipping/grabbing at the other….that’s good defense….

the problem is, why isn’t mike high pointing the football….if he extends and catches the ball at its highest point its a TD….he allows the ball to get into his body which allows trufant to make a play on the ball….that wr101….high point the ball!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  8. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

Yep but somehow he’s supposed to catch it right bucs fans LMAO

  9. DB55 Says:

    Not PI.

Obstructing hands is never called. Richard Sherman swears by this technique. Furthermore if Trufant got his head around to look for the ball for even a milli-second they won’t call it unless he slams his body into mike. And even then if he’s looking for the ball it’s a no call. See Brett Grimes, he’s a master at pushing wr off their routes by looking back for the ball.

  10. Bucsfanman Says:

Only an idiot would want to get rid of Mike Evans! There, I said it!

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Yes….Kobe

You catch with your hands……that’s why when a defender hits your wrist before the ball gets there it is PI.

Wasn’t called for ME13……and I agree, rarely is…..I have seen many DBs rough him up and not get called.

Mike caused some of this with his antics…..but refs are not supposed to consider the past when making a call…..not good refs….

  12. BucFanFromOH Says:

Lol ya’ll griping about PI. Look closely at the pic, see how you can see the TB logo on his right glove? You wouldn’t see that if his hand was on the ball. Clearly his index, middle, and ring fingers are pictured with his pinky (the blurry finger) being the only one to even touch the ball! The ball is bouncing off his fingertip, already past the point of a catch. This is nothing more than a DROP!

  13. DB55 Says:

    813

Football 101. Right there with jamming receivers off the line and holding your run gaps. Basics people these are basic things you learn in football. Go up and get the ball at its highest point now make a play after the catch and protect the football. It’s like coach is sitting right next to me.

Monken and bj are NOT nfl coaches. Apparently neither is Mike Smith go figure.

  14. Kobe Faker Says:

“Bucsfanman, tear the number “1” off your counterfiet mike evans jersey and just leave the “3”….at least you dont have to burn the jersey”

    Kobe Faker

“Absolutely nothing elite about ME. He is the number 1 most overrated player in the NFL. Trade ME and get a 2nd round pick”

    Kobe Faker

  15. Lord Cornelius Says:

The picture would be more useful if it showed Trufant grabbing his arm before the ball touches his hands. Can’t really tell from this if that’s what happened.

IF he was grabbing his arm before the ball ever touched ME’s hand – then that’s PI and gets called all the time in the NFL.

In the live game it just looked like a good defensive play and lack of focus / strength to overpower it by ME.

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

LOL! Wait, how’d you know it was counterfeit?!
    I wouldn’t burn a jersey anyway. I re-gift them!
Kobe there’s like maybe 3-5 WRs that are better. I stand by my statement.

  17. SB Says:

Guys…….It was PI but it was a ‘bang bang’ play. Refs don’t have the luxury of a review on every play. I wasn’t concerned as much by Trufant’s hand placement as I was of the contact he made with Mike before he got his head around. It pushed Mike off his path but I do agree that Mike could have jumped and turned around to get the ball rather than letting it come to him. If he had elevated it would have caused a True PI by Trufant having to run through Mike.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

On the other side…..you have a very slight….but a push off from Julio Jones of Justin Evans……it was unquestionably OPI….not called….won’t be called in Atlanta by Julio Jones on a rookie Safety……just sayin’.

  19. Buc Fan in NC Says:

We have the worst fan base in the NFL

  20. Tnew Says:

If Fitz would’ve thrown it up higher, like Evans likes them, would’ve been an easy catch. As it is, I will contend, the Mike Evans of last season makes that catch.

  21. JimmyJack Says:

I used to think Mike could make that catch….I guess I remember wrong.

I do know one thing that if you give an elite receiver the 2 looks that Mike got Sunday they don’t go 0-2 on them.

If you want to call Evans elite he needs to make elite plays. That’s just fair. But maybe he is just good, not great.

  22. JimmyJack Says:

And the look on Evans face said it all after that play. They showed him on the sideline afterward on TV. He knows he should have made that play especially after he failed to make a play on the first TD.

Only fans would make an excuse. Evans himself knows he should have scored a TD on Sunday and we should all know that too.

  23. Bucsfanman Says:

Kobe, now I know how you knew my jersey was counterfeit. You sold it to me out of the back of the minivan you borrowed from your mom!!!
    🙂

  24. DB55 Says:

IF he was grabbing his arm before the ball ever touched ME’s hand – then that’s PI and gets called all the time in the NFL.
    —————-
    Respectfully disagree.

  25. Kobe Faker Says:

“My mom and I take public transportation….Godwin is our go to outside reciever…ME will not be a BUC next year”

    Kobe Faker

  26. unbelievable Says:

Grabbing his hand / arm before the ball gets there IS pass interference.

It’s just a matter of whether the zebras call it or not. Evans does not get the benefit of the doubt. That particular play actually was bang-bang, but I’m talking about overall.

My point is go back and watch the Monday night game. PI and holding are being called left and right, on plays with far less contact than what we saw Sunday.

I just want some damn consistency. Either let them always be physical, or don’t. But it changes week-to-week, crew-to-crew, and even player-to-player. Evans is like LeBron, he has to get getting mobbed out there for a flag to get thrown.

  27. DB55 Says:

I’ll never ask you to simply believe me without proof.

    https://www.google.com/amp/ftw.usatoday.com/2016/10/richard-sherman-julio-jones-pass-interference-seahawks-falcons-video/amp

    But Wtfdik

  28. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Was it PI? Probably. Should it have been called? Probably not. The refs don’t get the benefit of seeing a photo literally milliseconds before the ball got there. The other team gets paid too, and this was a helluva play by a helluva corner. There’s no need to blame Evans, the other guy just did his job well. Sometimes you have to give credit where credit is due.

As for those saying Evans should have high pointed the ball, this wasn’t that type of throw. This wasn’t a ball that had a lot of arch on it. It was more so thrown to go past the CB (Evans had him beat by 1/2 a step) versus going over him. Look at the nose of the football and you can see the angle it’s coming in. It’s not that type of throw. We don’t have to always blame people when we don’t get the result we want.

  29. Kobe Faker Says:

    Mike Evans is consistent

ME consistently can not run after catch

ME consistently gets out muscled by smaller defenders

ME consistently catches with his body and not his hands

    ME consistently cant run routes

ME gets frustrated when he gets outplayed by rookie shut down corners(lattimore) and blindsides them when the play is over and tells the Buc sheep its because he is going after the QB

“Giving this chump 15 mill for the next 5 years will be the worst contract given in the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers history”

    Kobe Faker

  30. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @unbelievable,

I think we all want to see consistency. However, the game is played at an unbelievably fast speed. What looks easy to see on TV (especially in slow motion) is very difficult to see when you actually have the whistle in your mouth and the game is going at 100mph. It’s very similar how it’s easy to call plays from your couch, but a whole lot different when you’re on the sideline. Now obviously it’s their job to make those calls, but as long as the game is officiated by humans (who by the way aren’t even full time employees), there is going to be a lack of consistency. And because the game is played so much through the air and the guys are so big and so fast, it’s not going to improve.

  31. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Kobe Faker

    You’ve lost your damn mind.

    Sincerely,
Hawaiian Buc (and every person with half a brain)

  32. Erik w/ Clean Athletics 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs fans' Says:

    Joes,

To be honest, despite everything else, I’d say that we basically lost the game because of NON-calls on our recievers & tightends.

It was so flagrant in my eyes.

And it was ALL DAY. It was really starting to infuriate me…

Anyone, watch the tape… Like 80% of our incompletions were defensive penalties by ATL DB’s that were NOT called for some stupid reason.

I mean it was to the point where I think there needs to be an evidence tape made and a formal complaint filed with the league office.

  33. Hawaiian Buc Says:

ME has never not had a 1000 yard season.

ME makes tough catches over the middle.

ME scores a lot of TD’s.

ME is the best WR on the team.

Getting rid of ME because a chump on JBF says would be so stupid, even the Bucs won’t do it.

  34. Erik w/ Clean Athletics 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs fans' Says:

… 80% of our incompletions that weren’t errant throws, that is.

  35. Hawaiian Buc Says:

You cannot blame a game you lost by 2 TD’s on the referees, especially when you give up a million yards. It’s not like that game isn’t exactly like the other 10 games – settling for FG’s when we should be scoring TD’s. Are those games the refs fault too? Losing teams blame the refs. Winning teams don’t let the refs control the game. We are a bad team right now, and that’s why we are losing. That doesn’t mean we aren’t talented or are far away from losing, but blaming the refs is completely wrong. There is no NFL conspiracy by the NFL refs to screw the Bucs.

  36. tnew Says:

All you PI guys. ME’s right hand is touching the ball at the time of this picture. This will never be called PI. But your missing the point. Biggest thing to notice is just how low he is getting to make the catch. No doubt this is a tough play but there are many receivers that go make this play for the QB. Go watch the Vikings vs Bucs highlights very first play is the same thing for Thelan. Then watch the Stefan Diggs play in the end zone vs Hargreaves again. He stops, elevates and uses his height and body to shield off VHIII. This is the type of play that has to be made if Mike Evans wants to get truly paid.

Mixed in with that is an example of DJax low pointing a football as well.

To me this has to do with a lack of aggressiveness the entire team is playing with this entire season. You want the ball… Go Get It. This team is so in the need for some swagger. I think swagger is built in the off season with hard work. I know, Joe had someone on that said that what went on during the soft as butter preseason camp didn’t matter, but the off season sets the tone for the entire season. I know Koetter was scared of injuries, just as he is scared of turnover and the big play, but if you perform how you train.

  37. tnew Says:

Oh, and you get the benefit of the doubt regarding penalties when you are playing harder. Showing the want and hunger. I hope this isn’t the result of having a “professional” receiver showing up on the team.

Godwin did the same thing BTW before the second pass to Evans everyone is complaining about. This contagious attitude goes both ways. Guys that are there willing to compete rub off on each other. Guys that are there to catch a check do the same. There is a new sheriff in the WR room, no doubt about it. ME is learning from DJAX IMO.

  38. unbelievable Says:

@Hawaiian I don’t disagree about having to make the call in real time, and how much different a replay on TV looks, etc. Not at all. Nor would I blame this loss on the refs. Game was only close for half of it, and we weren’t good enough the other half.

My point is that over the last 5-6 years, the consistency of officiating has really become lousy. I watch a lot of games, and as I said, player-to-player, week-to-week there is such a HUGE discrepancy in how penalties are called or not called by different crews of refs.

I get less enjoyment, because you’re not playing from the same baseline officiating. Obviously it won’t ever be perfect of course, but IMO, it has gotten much worse the last 5 or so years.

  39. ClodHopper Says:

The only reason he didn’t catch it is because Mikes not used to balls thrown so accurately. It takes time to relearn how to catch an accurate ball. -Greg Schiano.

  40. ClodHopper Says:

Yes. The officiating is VERY inconsistent. The rules are getting worse the harder they try to make them better. Who’s knows what a catch is these days? I remember as a lad knowing if it was catch with almost 100% accuracy because they had clear cut rules. Now I don’t even try to guess. Just another reason to fire Goodell!!

  41. Bucnjim Says:

Evans is an excellent receiver and means a lot to this team. The thing that drives me crazy is the duck and cover like a 1960’s nuclear war drill. I wondered why his YAC was so low until I started paying attention. After every catch he goes to the ground like someone threw a hand grenade in his general direction.

  42. Bucnjim Says:

CB’s should bounce off him like pinballs but we may never see that unless he breaks that habit.

  43. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @unbelievable,

I agree officiating has become less consistent. However, that’s a result of rule and game changes versus the competency of the officials. The guys are bigger, faster, and stronger, which makes them tougher to officiate. As an example, ask any NBA ref who was the hardest guy to officiate and they will all say Shaq. Why? Because he was so big. It’s not going to get better, especially as the league is so pass happy.

  44. JimmyJack Says:

Just catch the stupid ball Evans. If your goal is to be the best receiver in Bucs history then you’ve made it my friend…….If your goal is to be amongst the leagues best then next time come away with six in a game like Sunday.

These Buc fans may have their heads up their azzes from years of neve4 having an elite receiver……..But Mike, you know it and so do I that a truely elite receiver doesn’t get shunned from the end zone like you did on Sunday. I’m not cool with settling for a second tier receiver when Evans has shown more ability to make those tough plays. Why are Buc fans always so accepting of their players playing below potential.

Nobody will ever say that those are easy TDs…….Scoring easy TDs isn’t what makes a receiver great…….new wants swagger from his players, maybe the fans need some too.

  45. DB55 Says:

    Def

We can’t be aggressive it will scare the “real fans” we might get suspended or have a penalty called on us. If we’re too aggressive the media will solicit that fines and suspensions be handed down on OUR OWN FCKN PLAYERS!!!!! Damn shame really!

We are playing like choir boys isn’t that what TB wants? No ASJs, no Talib’s, def no Blounts, no finger pointing, blindside hits from thugs. We want ice cream dammit and don’t let no one tell you different.

Yesterday I literally heard a member of the lgbtq community criticize Jameis for the Uber allegation and he said and I quote I’ve never been accused of touching a women. Well no chit Sherlock you never have and never will Shirley temple. And there you have it, call Mike Sam if you’re looking for an edge rusher.

  46. DB55 Says:

    *def = tnew

  47. Erik w/ Clean Athletics 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs fans' Says:

    Bucnjim,

ME ducks like that bcuz the safeties are headhunting out there and guys are getting knocked out of the game and put in the concussion protocol like it truly is a mini-warzone or something…

He has to do that for safety purposes if he’s in position to get targeted when he makes the catch.

Oh, yes, guys are still targeting dudes out there. They want to hurt people…

Don’t u see how Keanu Neal tries to literally decapitate people??? It’s part of the game still and it will probably always be a part of it… The penalties are a little worse for it now and they are called more frequently, but the refs don’t catch every helmet-to-helmet and they let them get away with out-of-the-strikezone hits like 50% of the instances, it seems.

  48. not there yet Says:

Exactly why he is where is. You want to get paid like a top receiver but you’re still trying to catch a ball with your body instead of your hands. This is the response he caught so many balls last year but apparently a lot of bucs thought they would cake walk through the season. TD if he go grabs the ball instead of trying waiting for it to come to him.

Get back to the basics if you wanna get paid like a top Target, no time to shine like the present. Him and Winston should be killing it

  49. Hawaiian Buc Says:

My goodness people, are you really telling a professional receiver how to catch a football? What a joke! There are times to catch with your hands and time to catch with your body. His left hand is being held down, so I would say that would qualify as the time to try to catch it with your body. Mike Evans is not the problem with this team. It’s not the stars of the team, it’s the role players that aren’t performing.

  50. Rrsrq Says:

Get the ball up and ME brings that in above his head

  51. Richbucsfan Says:

There’s a cancer on the team that has ME distracted by non football issues. He’s not the type that can succeed when his mind is on other things. Across the NFL some of the players are distracted as are the owners (the Jerry Jones issue). Bad year for ME, the Bucs and the NFL.

  52. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

Kobe Faker you are such an IDIOT
Evans was not drafted to be a YAC guy! And guess what that’s just fine, idk if your really a Buccaneers fan FR FR buddy, because if you were, you would remember a guy named KEYSHAWN, who may have worn out his welcome, but for a time was a force putting up a 100 catch season and he was ZERO YAC. Ok BRO? So STFU because EVANS is a Dunkaneer your so stupid man. Like really? Evans is having a down year and everything that’s going on with the QB position also has an impact on the receivers as well, the different spirals release points, and maybe just maybe when the offense is hitting Djax for Bombs away TDs the defense adjusts to cover other threats and Evans gets less attention rt now OJ gets few targets Godwin gets ignored and Brate is not even showing up in the game much so I think a lot has to do with the offense.

Right now for you to be trashing ME13 is a DOUCHEBAG move. The guy deserves some respect for what he has done so far and how he has grown up since 2 yrs ago.
