Punished
The Buccaneers’ Pro Bowl receiver got what he deserved today, via the NFL league office.
It seems the suits in charge of conduct don’t take kindly to offensive players going on all out sprints after the whistle to drill a defenseless cornerback in the back.
Evans will sit for a game, per ESPN, for doing just that to Marshon Lattimore yesterday (he can appeal). His assault of Lattimore came after injured, benched and helmetless America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, walked on the field to poke Lattimore from behind. That drew a nothing shove of Jameis by Lattimore. And then Evans lost it.
Formerly winning head coach Dirk Koetter today said Evans’ actions were totally unacceptable and he was pleased Evans apologized.
Koetter added Jameis’ actions were out of line and he expects Jameis to take the same level of accountability the next time he’s asked about it publicly. After the miserable 30-10 loss to the Saints yesterday, Jameis’ comments revealed he was fine with his behavior and Evans’ response.
What a mess.
Joe hopes Evans appeals. Joe would rather see Evans on the field for his fans this week against the Jets at the Den of Depression. Better he sit a road game.

Definitely needs to appeal. if Elliot can do what he did and play the entire season and Brady for that matter this should really be a non-issue.

Unless, of course, they take the money he would have made and give it to victims of police brutality or any other cause these clowns take a knee for. That kneeling crap is what started this death spiral that is getting the coaching staff fired. These immature punks read way too many of their press clippings stating how great they were when in fact they are as fragile as a 50 year light bulb. This joke of a franchise continues to disappoint year after year after year. What a terrible group of players with no true leadership on a coaching or player level they are. I’d rather Jameis get suspended, as he was the idiot, I mean “leader”, who started it all. Evans was taking his teammates back, and while it was certainly a cheap shot, I can’t fault him for that passion.
If the other 52 guys played that pissed off we would prob having a winning record…

It’s amazing how quickly things can turn. Just a few weeks ago, this team had the chance to go 3-1 if they didn’t have a mental case at kicker…and now fast forward to today and we are here, with J-Miss licking his fingers for a pregame speech, his sideline antics followed by zero accountability when asked about it afterwards and that whining face the entire second half. ME13…I thought this was behind you, dude. Acting like a complete buffoon circa 2015. But I guess we’re back.
I thought Michael Clayton said it perfectly on his post game show…that is the type of day that makes you want to throw your j-miss jersey in the trash. And I bought 3 of them this year for myself and family. smh. 🙁

Mike being suspended is fine by me. This season looks to be over already. Jameis is out for at least two games. And Mike was down on the field with what looked like was a scary knee injury yesterday. But of course, like Jameis, he is an important player on this already garbage fire team that was allowed by the coaches and medical staff to return to the field and put him at risk for further major injury.

First off what was Lattamore doing on our sideline jawing at Jameis. Was he taunting a 15 yard penalty…or did the natural flow of the game take him way over to Jameis. I honestly do not know.
I do know that #3 and ME13 just added some more cement to their bond and as for being embarrassed for lacking classy play….spare me…New Orleans and Sean Payton are known for being among the dirtiest class team in the league. Remember when they got busted for their bounty program and people….coaches…sat out a year?
The bottom line for me…it did not effect the game one bit…nor our season…ME sitting a game is not the difference in a playoff run. LMAO.

I think it has everything to do with context. E.G. If you’re at Lowry park Zoo with your family and you see the monkeys it’s perfectly fine to call them monkeys.
However if you see a group of young black Cub Scouts and say look at those little “monkeys” that would be unacceptable.

This is a mentality that tough athletes have in every sport no matter the race. Several NFL players have played entire games with broken bones! Problem with the Bucs is they either avoid these hard core types or just can’t separate skill from passion.

Mije Evans was suspended because he wasnt ejected. AJ Green, and every otjer player involved in fights yesterday, were not suspended because they got ejected. What the fans say/want has nothing to do with it lol

How in the world could JameisNOT and Evans be team captains anyway. They have zero respect from their teammates. You are now starting to hear some expert NFL analysts stating what I have been saying for months….. you cannot have a preacher boy QB not lead by example. These men are all Alpha Males and will only listen to his garbage for so long. Particularly when he does not perform well.

It doesn’t matter. Take the game suspension and move on. I liked ME’s passion butbit was a boneheaded move. I think it was brought on by frustration more than anything else. I agree they let Godwin play and see what he can do. If given the chance I think he’ll outperform Evans. The Bucs need a win but it’s too little too late, and don’t see any wins coming soon. Will Koetter get another guest? I think he may be out, but only if Chucky will take the job. What a mess.

Maybe you didn’t see the play, but Evans saw an opposing defensive back over at his sideline, shoving his QB. I already said the shot was cheap, but he was sticking for his QB. He wasn’t standing there watching Jameis be an idiot and come off the sideline and poke a guy in the head, and then deciding to do that.
And as others have stated, Cincinnati fans are cheering what AJ did, despite it’s complete stupidity, while Tampa fans call on their own player to get suspended for a lesser offense.
Nothing surprises me about Tampa fans though. Good to see at least some people on here actually get it.

@ unbelievable, yeah, you are right. Evans did the right thing by blindsiding someone after they “pushed” the anointed one after being pushed himself in the back of the head as he was walking away. I’m sure Derrick Brooks would have done the same, or Leroy Selmon, or John Lynch, or Ronde Barber, or Mike Alstott, or Hardy Nickerson, or Hugh Green, or Batman Wood, or Cecile Johnson, or Scott Brantley, or any number of other Buc greats. Evans is a highly skilled player that can’t control himself. Take out the aggression on a downfield block to free Doug Martin. Be angry at your sorry a$$ offensive line that can’t block for the franchise or even remember to move on the snap of the ball, not before. That was a frustrated player taking out his anger on a defenseless opponent. I hate every team but the Bucs but I want to win when the play is live and not after the play looking to try and hurt a defenseless player from behind. That’s what a coward does and everyone should be happy Evans did not injure Lattimore. Winston is acting crazy, not like a team leader should act.

Again, not disagreeing with it being a cheap shot at all. But I do understand turning around and seeing a guy from the opposing team at your sideline, pushing your quarterback, and running over to have his back. He did not see how it started.
I was disappointed with Jameis in that situation far more than Evans. Evans reacted to what he saw. Jameis started the BS himself. Yes, Evans lost his cool and acted immature, but ya know what? I wish half our roster gave half as much sh!t as he does when we’re losing.
Speaking of downfield blocking, our receivers mostly stink at it, outside of Evans. And I think he learned that in college, not in the pros. People keep saying that Monken should take over OC but I’m not sure he’s even that good as a WR coach. And Bajakian is definitely not the guy for QB coach.

My goodness what a bunch of holier than thou, self-righteous hypocrites. I don’t agree with the way ME and JW handled their frustrations, but I DO UNDERSTAND THE PLACE THOSE EMOTIONS CAME FROM, but of course the posters here only know how to gripe and complain from the comfort of their couch.
It’s amazing the abuse you need to be able to take on the field and off because that money you earn makes everything acceptable from the fans! You need to be perfect every game, every play, you need to suck the pain while still performing the way my fantasy player would.
Personal problems is not allowed, human weaknesses not allowed, emotional reactions mot allowed.
And if you do show any aggressive behavior you are a THUG, unless you
play the way WE want you to.
You have to be all things to everybody…give me a freakin break.
Neither JW or ME or thugs, they’re just 2 young men who are still maturing just like millions of others, except they have a large microscope and growing up in the public literal ‘ARENA’.
Bucs or no Bucs …ME and JW can do so much better, somewhere else.
You pay to see the team play…you don’t own them… on their feet or on their Knees…Smh..they don’t want to lose either!!!

This behavior is typical for losers. And I mean people, not teams. Some of the so-called leaders of this organization are not mentally tough enough to be called leaders. Being loud or just charismatic is not being a leader. One’s true character is revealed in the toughest of times and trials. We have loafs, cheap shots, and antagonizing behavior (JW) rearing their head in the toughest of times. We have a leadership problem. When you are winning everyone is happy and there are no distractions. When you are losing you find out who is “all in” and who is a sorry teammate or is fake. Time to make some guys walk the plank, and we can start with the loafers!

Winston apparently started it, but the camera’s didn’t show what led up to Winston’s actions. For all we know, Marshon Lattimore did something to Winston just before that.
