Grimes Knew It Was Coming
November 12th, 2017Joe has no idea where the Bucs would be without the services of ageless Brent Grimes.
The 34-year old warrior plays like he’s 24. Today, as usual, he was making plays all over the place whether it was tackles or breaking up would-be touchdowns passes.
But his biggest play may have been his interception.
In a battle of offensive juggernauts, the Bucs held a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Jets had a second down on their own-11 when Josh McCown tried to hit Robby Anderson down the middle but it was picked off by Grimes.
Nice play, but it was a cerebral play, which is what Grimes is known for. Joentalked to T.J. Ward after the game and he told Joe the pick was basically a called shot.
Ward said the Jets came out in a formation that the Bucs defense recognized, or least both Ward and Grimes did. So when the Jets came to the line of scrimmage, Ward got Grimes ‘attention and mouthed the name of the play the Bucs had for the formation, expecting McCown to try to hit Anderson.
Grimes nodded his head in agreement with Ward and mouthed the name of the play back to Ward. The two veterans were on the same page.
And the film work paid off. What both Grimes and Ward fully expected McCown to do is what he did; fire the ball down the middle to Anderson and Grimes was in position to pick the pass.
Sadly, the Bucs threw an interception on the very next play, so the homework Grimes and Ward never did pay off.

Brent Grimes was getting toasted all day by Robbie Anderson. Josh McCown couldn’t get the ball to him.

Once again, defense shows up and offense does everything it can to lose the game.

It was sad that we couldn’t capitalize. That’s the biggest problem with this team. The offense and defense aren’t feeding off each other in a positive way.
I think this game played out differently because our offense was at least good enough to keep the D off the field. We were also aided by very sloppy football from the Jets.
This team will never win in this league if our units can’t carry each other. And they need to get the negative energy out of their heads when things go south on the other side. It takes leadership from the sideline but it also takes it on the field.
Half us fans want to blame management and half blame the players. It’s probably somewhere in the middle.

Humbly I will say as many on here are as well i am tix holder and watching Fitz’s passes he does not have the zip that JW’s passes have and it gives the DB’s that little instant to react to the route. Which allows them to jump the route and intercept. Makes me appreciate JW’s throws except for the lack of accurancy.

The defense was better with him out there for sure. It was obvious.

Lakeland How was Grimes getting toasted all day by Anderson if McGown couldn’t get the ball to him?🤦🏼♀️

I don’t care how old he is we have to bring BG Spider-Man back. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

I honestly think most of you posters prefer to post negative things about the team bc deep down inside you really hate the Buccaneers I know this team and organization has brought us more heartache than happiness including the SB run, I get it and understand it but I still love my Bucs…..why don’t some of you guys just do what most Madden players do that is just jump on the Seahawks bandwagon!!!I promise us true Buccaneer fans won’t be mad , you guys are like the cancer that has plagued our locker room for years!Today was a good day…
