Beckwith Is Getting Hosed

Man, talk about a slap in the face.

There is something about Bucs linebackers that really hack off the NFL Network folks. Two years ago, they didn’t even know Kwon Alexander was on the Bucs roster. Then they produced a feature on “top 10 linebacker units” and didn’t even mention the Bucs.

Now, it’s Kendell Beckwith getting dissed.

Before Joe gets rolling, Joe really, really, really respects Daniel Jeremiah, the former NFL scout who does outstanding work for NFL Network. So Joe is just going to chalk up the following to Jeremiah not having his morning cup of coffee early enough when he typed this piece.

Jeremiah lists the top 25 rookies as the month of November begins. And nowhere on the list is Beckwith, who without OTAs and coming off knee surgery started for the Bucs and has played all over the place at linebacker. And while filling in at middle linebacker, he did such a good job Alexander was barely missed.

Beckwith leads all defensive rookies in tackles with 40. That’s 11 more than Jets free safety Marcus Maye.

How can a guy who leads all rookies in tackles, by a wide margin, not be included in the top 25 rookies? That seems not just strange to Joe,but a borderline insult.

Again, Joe admires Jeremiah’s work and Joe will just believe Jeremiah ran out of coffee filters the morning he put this list together.

It’s a Bucs life! Dilly Dilly!!!!

  2. Architek Says:

No this team performance clouds the individuals performance constantly and when people are all in on the Bucs, they find a way to choke.

People are tired and will continue to write them off.

  3. Joeypoppems Says:

Im fine with the list. A lot of talented rookies making an impact early on. As far as Beckwith goes, weren’t you guys just saying on Ira’s podcast a few days ago how Beckwith has disappeared recently?

  4. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

This should not be a big surprise being that we have a crap show of a football team. Same thing happened to Lavonte David a few years ago.

  5. Negative Jeff Says:

Ummm, 2-5 team here folks. Nobody is paying attention to Yucks. Maybe if Beckwith made a splash play he probably would have made this coveted list. Right now all he can do is make a basic tackle. He’s too slow to really have an impact. Just a boring 4-3 linebacker. .

  6. The Buc Realist Says:

Good thing that they did that huge distraction that is nfl hard knocks so they can get national recognition!!!! That really paid off!!!!!!!!

  7. Bucsfanman Says:

It’s not surprising. Our LB corps has QUIETLY become quite the force. Keep ballin’ Kendell!

  8. dooshlarue Says:

This team has always done better when flying under the radar.
Accolades bring great expectations Joe…..and we’ll be having none of that!

  9. Conte Piscateli Says:

Welcome to football Siberia. I’ve said it for years, this is also the reason we miss out on good free agents and coaches refuse to come here. Football Siberia!

  10. BucFanFromOh Says:

2 sentences, 12 exclamation marks. Apparently Realist drank the whole pot of coffee this morning.

  11. Hodad Says:

Sacks, and picks get you noticed, nobody cares about # of tackles. That’s why David never got credit. Playing on a loser, with a losing head coach doesn’t help either.

  12. Bird Says:

Always been like that When the team sucks so bad, guys don’t get noticed.

Total shame but hopefully kwon shows him the video to get him angry

  13. Not there yet Says:

That’s the way it goes when you are playing for the bucs who can never find a way to turn the corner. No one identifies with losing franchises so of course they have no reason to look at our roster for any reason

  14. Tom Edrington Says:

Joe should give said writer a call and get it from the horse’s mouth….

  15. Defense Rules Says:

Don’t know if anyone actually looked at Jeremiah’s list of Top-25 rookies, but guess what … there’s only 1 LB on the entire list (plus 2 OLBs). Lots of offensive rookies on the list (RBs especially). Far as Beckwith goes, last 3 games he’s all but disappeared (8 tackles in 3 games probably isn’t honor roll material). Monday he had an MRI on his knee (the one that was surgically repaired) but coach assures us he’s fine (why do players who are ‘fine’ need an MRI you ask?).

Beckwith played virtually 100% of games 1-5, less against the Bills & even less against the Panthers. First 5 games he had 36 tackles, almost all at MLB (Kwon went out early in the 1st game & didn’t come back until Game 6). Last 2 games on the outside (Kwon was back at MLB then) Beckwith had 4 tackles total. Gut feeling is that he’s a lot more effective as a MLB than he is on the outside. Speed counts out there.

    A Toast! Dilly Dilly!!!!

Keeps my mind off the Saints.

    Dilly Dilly!!

The bucs don’t deserve anything except a new GM

  18. FortMyersDave Says:

Negative Jeff is paying attention to the Bucs, along with some other trolls and those who really like the team. Bad Buc team, ala the 2006 4-12 Gruden Bucs, Scianos 2013 4-12 bunch, and the 2011 4-12 squad that got Rah run…. Thats where I think the Buc will end up, 4-12 but with far more talent than the other 3 4-12 teams. Gruden got a pass in 2006, likely due to the fact it was the first double digit loss season since Dungy season 1 and the fact that he did win the Super Bowl and a few division titles. Koetter does not have that cushion so 4-12 will likely get him an assistant’s job somewhere in 2018. Hope the Bucs turn it around but all of us long haul Buc fans can tell if a team is going south, this one is headed that way, not sure if its all Koetter as he did not get the groceries just wrote Licht a list that lacked D…..

@JOE…didn’t you write about beckwith possibly hitting the rookie wall a week or so ago?….

when you lose, no one gets praised!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  21. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

Because he was playing as a fill in not as the future at the position.

  22. LongSeason Says:

Maybe Jeremiah don’t watch loser Bucs because loser Bucs ain’t worth watching. If you don’t watch Bucs then you don’t know Beckworth. Maybe if Bucs start winning they will be worth watching and people will see Beckworth.

Believe me, though. This ain’t a changing because these are the same old lame, lazy, shiftless, uninspired group of pansy asses to play the game Bucs. Losers.

  23. BigMacAttack Says:

How many times do you have say this? Winning teams get accolades and losers get overlooked. Who even cares what Jeremiah thinks. He’s not signing your check. The Bucs need to focus on their crappy play on the field. Beat the Saints and then they may start to notice players. I’d still try to trade GMC while he has value. He can be a great player but obviously not in Tampa.

  24. unbelievable Says:

So you’re surprised that the Bucs, who are currently 2-5, are not getting national recognition?

    Are you new here?

  25. LakeLand Says:

No one respect the Yucs. Why should they?

Why is it so important to see our players acknowledged.
