Jameis Will Start

October 20th, 2017

Starting.

Rock Riley knows what he is looking at on the fields of One Buc Palace.

As Rock reported this morning, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, was throwing the ball with authority. So much so that the Bucs, via the team’s official Twitter feed, announced Jameis will start Sunday at Buffalo.

@TBBuccaneers: #Breaking: Jameis Winston is will start on Sunday against Buffalo.

The Bucs need this game badly and Joe is comforted knowing the offense will be in good hands.

Good thing I don’t get a vote….I think sitting for the injury and the inconsistent play this season would have done some good.
I figured he would have come out healthy and on fire for the Carolina and New Orleans games…which we HAVE TO HAVE.

  3. Pickgrin Says:

    Good news. Get-R-Done Jameis.

  4. volbuc2 Says:

Starting is easy, finishing is a lot more difficult. Hope he can finish!

  5. Kobe Faker Says:

I hope Koetter starts calling shorter passes to get the ball out of Jameis hands

  6. 813bucboi Says:

Winston will start….but will dirk let him finish?…that’s the question….if Winston comes out his usually self and starts slow, will dirk pull him?…will dirk help Winston out by running the ball against a weak dline?(as joe stated yesterday)…we’ll see soon enough….GO BUCS!!!!

  7. 813bucboi Says:

    @VOL gets it…GO BUCS!!!

Awww the feel good news of the week/season

  9. Bculaw Says:

Can’t understand the calls to “bench” Jameis, or the questions of whether Dirk will do so if Jameis starts slowly. The main reason Dirk was named HC was to continue to develop Jameis. If Dirk benches Jameis, he is effectively saying that he failed in his job – especially if he replaced Jameis with a journeyman like Fitz. Ain’t going to happen unless Jameis plays awful football – which he has not, despite the opinion of too many fans. He needs to continue to improve his decision making and accuracy on certain throws, but he’s not going to “learn” to do that on the bench.

It’s much harder to find a 23 year old QB with 10,000 yards passing in the league and franchise potential than it is to find a good HC.

It’s all a process. If he is going to reach his potential, JW needs to be on the field, and Buc fans need to show a bit more patience.

  10. DBS Says:

Another great day to watch them get 12 points. Hope the kicker can score. And leave the defense hung out on the field the rest of the day.

Yup. Those folks need to be institutionalized. Only the card-carrying crazies would ever suggest benching Jameis for Fitz.

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Say Joe..The Bucs need this game and actually going out there and doin it are?
Ok..you know wheres I’m going. Again, its on our Vaulted defense. Can we stop anybody. stop there QB and we win. Easier said than done.

  13. Bculaw Says:

My first response from “Joe!” It’s gonna be a good day!

  14. Defense Rules Says:

Pistol Pete, I share your concern. Buffalo’s DLine is very stout & does a good job of getting after the QB. They’ve been excellent against the pass (only given up 2 TDs & have 8 INTs, 5 forced fumbles & 12 sacks in 5 games … not that shabby). And their run defense isn’t a slouch either (only given up 4 rushing TDs this year). Every team they’ve played has a defense ranked #13 or better, so their offensive stats might be a little misleading (Bucs are ranked #22 overall in comparison). And isn’t it strange that the Bucs old DC (Leslie Frazier) is now the Bills DC … and leading a #2 ranked defense. Hmmm, I wonder if TALENT really does have something to do with how well a defense (or offense or STs) plays?

  15. tmaxcon Says:

hopefully the mentally weak defensive captains do not put jameis in the hole double digits before the 2nd qtr starts. it would be nice to see what kind of game Koetter and Jameis can have without having to bail out the mentally weak defensive quitters led by captain blowout. might even be able to establish a run game if your not down by 21 before your third possession.

  16. 813bucboi Says:

The main reason Dirk was named HC was to continue to develop Jameis.

Dirk is falling on his face in that category….GO BUCS!!!

  17. Big Stinky Says:

Please play good this week Jameis. Don’t want to talk chit about you or Dirk next week if you lose. Take what the defense gives you and stop forcing the deep ball. We need this game BAD! No more excuses! Playoffs or Bust! Go BUCS!

  18. tmaxcon Says:

jameis does not have a chance to develop when the defense led by the mentally weak captains and complete and total first round bust vh3 play dead better than football… awful hard to hold the coach accountable when the gm blows both 1st and 2nd round picks and gambles on a proven unreliable POS rb in 22… they deserve to be in the basement with moves like that.

    1. Winston set franchise records for passing yards through his first 4 games.

    2. His YPA is currently higher than any other year.

    3. It’s only been 4 games basically… with a variety of new role players and weapons…1/4 a season… since when did the first 1/4 of a season define a QB? I’d say the final 1/4 of a season would be more important in determining development.

    4. Winston didn’t even play the 4th quarter basically of the Bears game. Imagine his stats this year if we let him air it out in that game. He’d probably have had 4 straight 300 yard passing games before the early injury in Arizona. He’d probably be on pace to set every franchise record.

So basically – Winston is moving the ball with more ease this year down the field; is on pace to break franchise passing records; has reduced his turnovers; but somehow isn’t developing AT ALL and we’ve determined this in just 4 games of play; while facing a few of the top secondaries in the league (Vikes/Giants); and not even playing a full game vs the Bears.

Yeah run with that narrative man. You’re f*cking awesome I love that you’re a fan of this team. So much amazing insight and knowledge. So much positivity.

    LOL….OK stat boy….SMH

setting a record for a franchise that has NEVER had a franchise QB is really impressive….RIGGHHTTT!!!!

    YPA…WTF….LOL….

how about his completion %….has that improved over the years since he’s been here….

screw the stats…what does your “eyes” tell you….is he improving the ways other young QB are?(dak, wentz, carr, goff)…GO BUCS!!!

Anyone who thinks Jameis should be “benched” for “inconsistent play” MUST think that the last two MVPs (Ryan & Newton), sure-fire HOF’er (Roethlisberger), SB Champs (Eli & Flacco) and many other QBs (Carr, Mariota, etc) should all be THROWN OUT OF THE LEAGUE as Jameis is outplaying ALL of them by a wide margin this season!

Jameis came into last game on pace for 4,792 yards, 28 TDs & 12 INTs … the last two MVP’s are on pace for 19 TDs & 19 INTs (Ryan) and 24 TDs & 22 INTs (Newton) while Mariota is on pace for an abysmal amount of passing yards to go with just 12 TDs & 12 INTs, Carr has been horrible outside of games against the Browns, Jets & Chiefs, etc.

And, if these loons complaining about Jameis don’t think these other QBs shoud also be benched or even tossed out of the league, such just proves that they are non-sensical Jameis-haters and utter trolls …

    ******************

  22. Lord Cornelius Says:

LOL yeah why look at stats when you can just read as dumb4ss rant by 813 full of negative hyperbole?

Winston’s YPA is top 5 in the league right now and a full yard per attempt better than the NFL average. That has nothing to do with the history of Tampa. It’s one of the more important passing stats because it shows how well he can move the ball given X amount of attempts. It’s more important the QB rating to most people for example.

And by my eyes he’s been better and it’s obvious. He has thrown away passes that he used to force. He has taken check downs he usually wouldn’t. He still has to work on the long ball / and still take more check downs / but I see progress that you refuse to see.

I’ll trust my eyes over the guy who said Arizona was playing prevent the entire 2nd half lol; and who has said a bunch of dumb sh1t that I have never agreed with.

Winston has outplayed Carr this season outside of last night lol. That just shows how much of a hater you are to make such a comment; and Carr is a year more experienced. Before last night’s game Carr was barely topping 200 yards a game; while facing an easier schedule of pass defenses than Winston’s faced.

And lol @ anointing Jared Goff through just 5 freaking games. A QB who basically is last in attempts per game running a QB friendly offense that no one ever had any film on going into this year. Surely they won’t face any potential regression. That is a safe sample size to judge an entire career on.

    lol.

  23. NFLNut Says:

    *******************

    813bucboi … you’re yet another loon

Carr? You have the gall to mention Carr? Carr, who by the way is three years older than Jameis, has SUCKED this year other than big games against the garbage Titans/Jets and last night.

Before last nights big game against the porous Chiefs defense, Carr was on pace to finish the year with … wait for it … 2,772 passing yards! YUCK, that’s TIM TEBOW territory!

Even after last night’s monster game, he’s still on pace to have just 3,353 passing yards when the season ends … wow, he’s up to what, Kaepernick territory?

Many talking heads have been talking about the regression of Derek Carr this year and Colin Cowherd recently said he thought Carr’s regression would get Del Rio FIRED.

It’s as if you Jameis-haters are literally mentally handicapped and just live in a room with Jameis posters you throw darts at and tvs that replay Jameis’ poor throws … JUST ASININE!

Many believe Dak, who is a year older than Jameis, has also regressed and his numbers bear that out.

Goff … Goff has one of the worst rookie seasons in NFL history, so of course he has progressed, don’t be an idiot.

Wentz, who is also a year older than Jameis is playing good ball … but even his completion percentage is down from his rookie year and he and Jameis had the exact same yards per attempt and their completion percentage and interception rate is almost identical as well … Wentz is also playing on a team with a much better offensive line and defense than Jameis is.

Rehardless, you’re just a Jameis-hating, nonsensical loon … Jameis is vastly outplaying the last two NFL MVPs and outplaying most other QBs … yet you’re whining … typical … and stupid.

“Jameis is vastly outplaying the last two NFL MVPs and outplaying most other QBs … yet you’re whining … typical … and stupid.”

Dude 813 came into this season praying for failure so he could go on these rants. He probably typed them all up in word docs to copy and paste as soon as we had a record that wasn’t positive. He doesn’t give a sh1t about facts or objective reality. He has no time for a nuanced balanced opinion. He is only prone to insane hyperbole and freak outs.

This actually may be a good thing. This time last year 813 was absolutely convinced that there was no way we topped 4-5 wins and that Koetter would be fired. Basically stated it like a fact. Then never owned up to any of his bullsh1t predictions when we went on a win streak and almost made the playoffs. So maybe we should encourage him to keep hating and saying dumb sh1t.

  26. NFLNut Says:

Quick Question … WHY wouldn’t Koetter and crew keep saying, “I don’t know who will start, it will be a game-time decision” rather than reveal Jameis is starting?

I would think it’d be best to keep Buffalo’s coaching staff guessing until game-time, no?

+1 and thanks. It really is insane here. I duno why I even bother but for some reason I feel compelled to call people out when it’s just so obvious they’re being a loony a4shole.

Yeah I’d agree typically I’m really not sure why he’d commit if he didn’t have to. I guess everyone knew he took all the snaps with the 1s Friday and looked OK so maybe that’s why. He’s a little unconventional for sure.

  31. MadMax Says:

yeah, thinking of a plan b triggers the little snowflake nflnut….go ahead. but when our qb needs a better backup because hes hurt or has a bad day, im looney for thinking of it. haha, youre a special kind of snowflake arent you?

  32. Jimmy T Says:

You have JP Peterson & Ron who had a theory that Dirk wanted Jameis to sit Sunday to “learn” from FITZ because they were so impressed that FITZ threw to his checkdowns. Kind of ridiculous to imagine Dirk thinking watching FITZ would benefit him. I get it, Jameis has missed open guys, he has been a little high, been a little low but he has improved from year to year. All of a sudden JP, because he watched film w Shane Stanford critiques every pass Jameis or if he throws a completion JP points out who he should have thrown it to. Jameis is hurt on the second series & he had a bad game ? If we had a kicker & a defense no one would be talking about Jameis, they would be saying wow he had only had one in which he has turned the ball over. I’m glad Jameis is starting sunday

  33. bucnut2 Says:

Hey Guys- Fitz posted JW like numbers in garbage time. Why are we not calling for him. JW has THE BEST weapons in the NFL is is nothing more than than average QB. Want the evidence, forget yards, they are for losers, look at wins. This team, 2-3, headed for 2-4.

  34. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Sorry for the repeat…but it’s for the new haters, I mean posters, I mean fair-weathered fans, I mean fans 😥😦

Amazing…these have to be posters, not fans who once they found out Jameis is playing they cranked the hate rhetoric up…SMH…

Football is a business…why would the OWNERS sit their ijnvestment on the bench and play his back up, if he CAN PLAY!

aaaand good QB’s is not that easy to comeby…notice I did not even say great QB’s which is definitely not easy to comeby!

Nor has the Bucs QB success been anything…hence is why we have Jameis! Even if he turns out to be just a good QB he has some characteristics that a replacement can’t duplicate.

Listen to his team mates, better yet listen to his back up.

“It’s Jameis team….Jameis is the heart of the team”

But it still takes the other players help to win!

    GO BUCS

  35. Jimmy T Says:

Jameis doesn’t call the plays. He doesn’t empty the backfield at midfield on third and 2 down 14-0 in desperate need of a first down. Jameis has ZERO to do with the loses this year. At Minnesota the defense played like they did against the cardinals. Jameis was 18-22 in the second half and two of those incompletions were picks. Don’t complain about picks when u so called fans are kissing FITZ’s behind after his two picks resulted in BACK BREAKING TD’s for the Cards. U guys complained when Jameis took what the Bears gave him, 1 TD NO PICKS. The pats game Cam Brate drops a perfect pass in the end zone so this is not about Jameis. It’s about crappy kicking, horrible defense and weak at best play calling.

  36. SOEbuc Says:

Our true defensive captain Kwon Alexander is returning this weekend and if the LB corp stay’s heathy we’ll be one of the best. After that a$$ whopping last week, I think their ready to play some ball. We shall see on Sunday.

  37. adam from ny Says:

a joy ploy to get them to focus on jameis, meanwhile fitzinfuss will be coming in for the 2nd offensive series…jameis will likely go 3 plays and out to the bencherooski…then ole fitzie the lumbersexual comes shuffling on in…

hopefully this isn’t the realtime sunday scenario

  38. denjoe Says:

Has he learned how to throw deep? I can’t wait to see another 90mph 7ft pass to Doug where you guys blame Doug for not catching it. Is Fitz the answer no, has anyone noticed that this coaching staff never has any answer’s? It’s like they Draft guys and don’t develop them. They develop UFA’s fine, its crazy.

  39. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Bottom line:

I don’t care if he’s throwing 1000 yards a freaking game, if the points are not there or if he’s not throwing the TD’s, what’s the point??????

Those stats mean nothing unless the points are being scored!

Jameis in his 3rd year should be doing a lot better..Look at Wentz, Watson, etc.

  40. NFLNut Says:

^ Jameis is completely outplaying the last two NFL MVP’s … don’t be a loon
