GMC Sensed AP Would Blow Up

No shock for GMC.
For Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, the fact that 32-year old Adrian Peterson torched his defense didn’t really shock him.
Appearing yesterday on “The Blitz,” co-hosted by Mark Dominik and Bruce Murray, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, GMC said he had a hunch Peterson just might run wild.
Bruce Murray: How shocked were you at the productivity that [the Cardinals] got from Adrian Peterson last week?
Gerald McCoy: Well, me personally, I went to school with the guy and I know his DNA and I know what he is capable of doing. Especially, if you are just looking at his track record and his history when he is upset, feeling people are pushing him to the side or saying that he is losing a step or his ability, he always shows up. So I knew there was a chance of that coming into the game. It wasn’t our intention to let him come out and do that to us. I mean, when a future Hall of Famer like him, man, it is not surprising.
GMC is an intelligent guy, and Joe doesn’t think it is a stretch to guess GMC relayed this information to his teammates leading up to the Arizona game. And yet the Bucs defense responded as if they never heard of the guy in their lives.

GMC aka “Mr Softie” was too busy in his batcave playing with his batman dolls instead of making plays out there on the field and firing up his defense and holding them accountable.
GMC is just an empty uniform and just plays to collect a check.

Answer probably should have been it was an embarrassment that we knew he was getting the ball and still couldn’t slow him down. Like they were waving at him as he was just cruising by.

There have been several excellent analyses out this week … on other sites … as to what really went on in the Bucs-Cards game both offensively & defensively. There were some bonafide reasons for just about everything that happened on the field it sounds like. Those things need to be fixed for the Bucs to be competitive, and I’m sure that some will be fixed this week. Some quite frankly can’t be fixed this year. Y’all might try reading some of those before taking the lazy-man way out (i.e., ‘GMC needs to go’ or ‘GMC is just an empty uniform’). GMC is NOT the problem.

@defense rules true sounds like the players realize what went wrong which is good. personally id be happy to see a competative game for the full 60. the bills game will break in their favor if they play sound defense. Bill offense is horrible. GMC isnt the problem but 11 players with his minset is bad mojo. hes a great player just not a great leader.

Oklahoma lost and he was flat since then……. Iowa state dogged them out and he was sad. Made the bucs feel his sorrow and we got crushed.

If u think he is our top lineman let alone our top defender, u are wrong. He passed that torch a long time ago. This particular team NEEDS a leader of men. Not a role player with top 5 stats

I think it was less of AP “blowing up” and more of the Bucs imploding. I think the Bucs D will redeem themselves this week…and I also think they’ll win.

I’m perfectly content having a Top-5 guy anchoring the interior of our DLine … whether he’s a ‘leader’ (by your definition of course) or not. To me, Jameis is the leader of the offense, and Kwon is the leader of the defense. The rest are ‘role players’ as you call them, although probably each of the guys on this team have various leadership skills (many were team captains in college if you remember). Oh, and regarding those women with 100 past boyfriends, none of whom worked out. Which # in that pack of 100 were you? But don’t worry, it’s them, not you.

That is not the mentality of a champion… That was a really bad response. You go into the game realizing you need to hit this guy in the mouth. This defense is soft and Gerald would rather watch batman than play football!! Maybe Kwon can help this SOFT trash defense out.

And BTW, the handle Defense Rules dates back quite a ways. Bucs have had some excellent defenses over the years, and for most of those years we were pretty much known as a defensive team. For instance, during Gruden’s 7 years here, our defense was ranked #8 (on average). Our offense ranking during those years under the one so many are drooling for right now? Bucs offense ranked #21 (on average) … ranging from #18 (in our 2002 SB year) to #31 (in 2006). Be careful what you wish for.

This is not the type of mentality you want to hear from your players. I do understand what hes trying to say but man going into the game thinking AP might blow up on us instead of thinking you are going to dominate him and the rest of his team does tend to make him sound soft like some others call him.

Gmc doesn’t need to say a word about anything after this loss. I rather hear from mcdonald. Gmc is not the leader. He is a role player. Gmc is even a poor backup 4th string leader. Just a background dancer that just does “his” job while everyone else around him struggle.

I only put spence for now until he gains more pass rush moves and power. He too often out matched. At least 99.8 percent of the time and he is easy to offended. He told him to lose weight anyway? He is way too small and oft-manhandled

I’ve been done with this guy for a long time, so nothing he says anymore really surprises me.
He looks so stiff out there. He looks broken down to me. Is there times when he gets a good jump on the snap count and busts through the line? Yes. Every once in a while he’ll even have a good game. The guys lateral movement and bend is bad.
Sapp and the other good 3-techs of the past and present could/can get low and bend around blocks. McCoy is straight up and north and south, there is very little east/west movement.
It’s time to move on, and I’m not saying that as a “hater”, he should probably be a situational rusher.
