Folk Is A Four-Letter Word

Call winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter the Father Flanagan of NFL coaches.
Why? Because he has the faith of a devoted priest.
Anyone else at the Den of Depression Thursday night never, ever would have let Nick Folk try a 55-yard field goal to end the first half. This guy is barely better than Roberto Aguayo. The better option would be to let America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, just launch a ball in the end zone.
Then, early in the fourth quarter with the Belicheats leading 16-7, and the Bucs facing a fourth-and-two, rather than go for a first down Koetter gave Folk his blessing and sent the directionally-challenged kicker in to get three points.
We all knew what would happen. Folk shat himself. Again.
And with 5:36 left in the game, Folk again tanked in an effort to pull the Bucs within one score.
Now Joe is typing this before the end of the game. Joe will lay $10 that after the game, Koetter will say of Folk, “He’s getting paid to make those.”
Yes Mr. Koetter, you are right. And you are also getting paid to make smarter decisions than this, to recognize one of your players cannot be counted on in a pinch. At all.
If every fan six-Miller Lites in at the Den of Depression can see through the fog that Folk is unreliable, so should the head coach.
Koetter will also likely say he was playing the percentages. Joe is going to go out on a limb and say Folk’s miserable kicking is the outlier in those percentages, not the norm.
Folk is now 6-of-11 on field goals this season and has missed two extra points.

Got to replace him now. I said it in Camp…neither of them was worth keeping, but I would rather have kept Roberto just in the off chance he finally got it. And as bad as Roberto was, he never cost us games…and even won one of them.

Folk can’t be on this team tomorrow. It sends the wrong message to the team if you don’t give the guys a player that gives them a chance. I have never seen a Patriot team make so many stupid penalties. They pretty much were trying to bail out the Bucs. The Patriots 2 turnovers, the Bucs none. Belichick punted the ball, while in FG territory. This game was a gimme to the Bucs and they refuse to win it.

Folk has got to go. I don’t blame him for the missed 56 yarder, that is on Koetter. HC should have kept passing down the field, until they scored or the Pats stopped roughing Jameis. That being said, the 6 points we should have based on the other 2 kicks, is the difference between winning and losing this game.
At this point, I don’t care if we have a kicker that can hit 50+ yards better than half the time, I just want a guy that can hit from 40 or closer for better than 90% of the time (that shouldn’t be too tough).
I wish we would have won this won, but we took the World Champs to the very last play, with a realistic chance to win (not like needing a 60 yard Hail Mary).

This kicking game is ridiculous, its like the Creamsicle Bucs when Coach McKay had the late Greg Yarno kick in one game after his kicker missed a short FG. Just making one of the FGs could have made this a W or at least made Brady rally. Very disappointing. My question is if Folk gets cut tonight or tomorrow morning?????

Great game for Jameis as a confidence builder. Toe to toe and should have won if not for teammates letting him down. Kickers are weird. He could not miss rest of the year

Jameis played great in the fourth quarter
folk obviously cost the Bucs the game
Not only did he miss three but if he would have made just one of those the Bucs would’ve had a 36 yard field goal to win it at the end.
Folk basically cost the Bucs 12 points this week and 7 last week.
Also terrible decision by Koetter to kick on 4th and 2 and to kick the onside kick.

If there is a bright side to this, if at the beginning of the season you had told me the Bucs were 2-2 while missing Alexander, David and two of top safety’s
, I would have taken it.
With that said, we need a kicker now. Team is good enough to do damage this year and we can’t choke away points.

You ever think to blame the coach for these kickers? Folks been a good kicker in the past but this is 2 kickers in a row with the same poor result for Tampa. If two kickers in a row are struggling, usually you find a new position coach.

We didn’t play well and had a chance – and that’s with a kicker missing 2 should make kicks. Also gave them 3 before the half not being a little smarter with the ball with 3min left.
Should have kicked the ball away instead of the onside kick…(another give them 3)
Our 23yr old QB took some time to figure out what they were doing on D. He had 225 in the 4th Q
JW needs to play better but he needs to carry this team for us to win. Brady didn’t have to carry his team when he was 23 – they had a great D and were balanced on O.
Go Bucs! Got Martin back – should be healthy after the next 10 days. I think things are looking up…

All this silly talk about kickers. I mean really, they are a dime a dozen. Growing on trees after the draft. Every intelligent football fan knows that you can pick up any loser after the draft and they can kick the ball perfectly. I mean really, the position has no value at all. Those damn kickers are lucky they let them in the locker room. They are right up there with Running backs. You should never draft one high up. Its just not worth it. Its not like they would ever cost you a game or anything.

In Koetter’s press conference someone mentioned Folk and Dirk said Licht came up to him and they talked about it walking off the field. Propably telling him to clean out his locker before he went home tonight.

Jameis, which is never the norm, hit Brate in the chest twice tonight–drops (at least Brate made up for one on next play with the td). Folk made one kick in pregame from 45 yards, missed every kick beyond that–guy sucks! Jameis press conference, once again, all talk, its all he does. He may be a franchise QB, but he’ll be a great one. Will say it was obvious Howard turned the wrong direction on the last play, Howard was looking around after the play saying “what happened?” which would have been a td of he had run the correct route. Crappy game overall, bucs didn’t deserve to win.

Romo called it at beginning of game, laid out exactly what Koetter would do, how Koetters offense is exactly like the 80’s Redskins under Joe Gibbs, as well as how Belicheat had the most success against them, and he did it again tonight. Bucs made Pats D look like the number 1 defense in the NFL tonight!

Putting all this heat on Koetter is idiotic. If you were so uncertain of your kicker….he shouldn’t have made it to gamely. He shouldn’t have made it past the Giants game. Players have slumps…players of all positions. Keeping them down and not giving them the opportunity to redeem themselves is not the way to coach. With the defense playing surprisingly well and the game being close…I 100% agree with Koetters decision. You HAVE to see how your kicker responds to the pressure…he is your only kicker and it gave the team the best chance to win. I mean honestly after missing the first and second one there was no way in hell he would miss the third one right? Odds were heavily in the kickers favor.
Nick Folk needs to go. Hell….start letting Anger hit field goals and save a roster spot for another position.
