Bucs Must Score 20 (Or More)
October 22nd, 2017It is up to the offense.
That’s the way Pat Kirwan sees it. The former player personnel director of the Jets and former Bucs scout doesn’t see the Bills going crazy today. But if the Bucs don’t have a modicum of offense, look out.
Speaking on his excellent radio show last week, “Movin’ the Chains,” co-hosted with Jim Miller, Kirwan was very impressed by Buffalo’s defense and believes the Bucs offense must be better than what it has been the past two games.
“I have plenty of experience going up there,” Kirwan said of shuffling off to Buffalo. “They start playing that crazy song and you think it is going to be hard to win up there and it is hard to win up there. They beat Denver at home and the Jets, which has pleasantly surprised a lot of people. And they beat Atlanta on the road. This is a legit team, so here comes a game that they can win.
“They are going to bring it. They are going to be physical up front. You are looking at a defense that has given up under 15 points a game. That’s who they are and they will be at home and look at what they did at home. They gave up 12 to the Jets… OK. They gave up 16 to the Denver Broncos.
“If Tampa Bay comes in there and scores under 20, they are going to lose.”
So the way Kirwan sees it, the Bucs need to squeeze three touchdowns out of Buffalo’s defense with a quarterback who may or may not have a gimpy throwing shoulder.
Are they be up to the task?

I see it the other way. Defense is the key. Hold Buffalo under 20 points and Bucs win.

I like the way you think Pickgrin (“Defense is the key”), but reality is that BOTH sides of the ball (and STs) need to get their act together today to win. And to rebuild confidence in this Bucs team that’s loaded with P-O-T-E-N-T-I-A-L (especially on the offensive side of the ball). You may not agree with the ‘dink & dunk’ strategy, but Bucs have the weapons to get a lot of explosive plays out of the shorter passing game. Just as importantly though, it’ll keep Buffalo’s DLine from exploding forward on every play, especially when combined with a solid rushing attack. And oh ya, it’ll eat up the clock & keep our own defense fresher. But to even be possible, it requires that we ‘start faster’ than we have been. Falling way behind early is the best way to make this Bucs’ team one-dimensional. And we’ve seen how that turns out.

This will be a low scoring game today. Let’s see if Murray can earn his keep

a lot of misdirection with Taylor
Taylor is going to really miss his tight end
key to the game is Jordan Matthews
buff will move him around to matchup with milli vanilla
if Jordan Matthews plays a complete game…we lose

I am up for a more of the Dunkaneer type offense. A 10-15 yard reception is a win in my book. Jameis ran this offense effectively in 2015. Up to Koetter and
Jameis to mix up the passing game and unwrap the weapons for Winston.

Agree with Kirwin 20-21 points from the offense every game. More is better,
As we have seen , thiis defense is better when it is not playing from behind,
and so is the offense for that matter.

As always, I preach DEFENSE. Can we chase Tytod Taylor effectively? He shall roll out of that pocket and he will run for gainers. Does our Defense show up today? That be the key. Our D shows up and we win. If not..the usual. Its gonna be tough because Buffalo has yet to lose at home. Surprise the hell out of us Bucs!

I agree. Dink and dunk wins the game. What do u do when Ur defense is a question mark? KEEP THEM OFF THE DAMN FIELD. I actually had a nightmare of every third and short we were throwing it 20 yards. It’s something Koetter hasn’t learned yet. Keep the offense on the field and just get the first down. I’m sick and tired of seeing incomplete passes 15 yards down the field. On third down nonetheless
