Union Man Ali Marpet Wins Team Vote

Perhaps Mitt Romney should have worn Hawaiian shirts, played the ukulele on HBO and mauled tacos with a passion that rivals Joey Chesnut’s fervor for hot dogs?
That seems to have worked for Ali Marpet, who bested a couple of Bucs veterans in a recent team vote.
Marpet is the new NFL Players Association team representative for the Buccaneers, aka the head union man on the roster. Marpet bested Clinton McDonald and Kevin Pamphile in a recent team vote, and they will serve as alternates.
“I totally wanted to do it. Vincent Jackson was our team rep before. It’s just a way to represent the guys,” Marpet said. “It’s an honor just to represent the Bucs, pretty important decisions ahead. I want to make sure our players are well informed and in a good position. So I think it’s a job that suits me.”
Marpet said he put a lot of pre-vote time into learning about the responsibilities of the position. He also said the NFLPA has always been “extremely responsive” to his questions through the years, so that helped inspire him to get involved.
Joe asked McDonald about losing a vote to Marpet. McDonald said it wasn’t rigged and Marpet will do a great job.

Correction….I should have said “appears to have colluded”…. the legal process has yet to play out. And I believe in the Constitution and Due Process.
