“Captain Mike” In A New Phase
September 21st, 2017Mike Evans turned 24 years old last month but he views himself as a seasoned NFL veteran.
A turning point was reached recently and Evans emerged on the other side.
That was the word from Evans himself this week on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
“I’m a vet. I’m a captain now. It’s my first year being a captain. Jameis has been a captain. So yeah, we’re both vets. Call me ‘Captain Mike’ now,” Evans said.
“It’s awesome. The main thing, you want the respect of your teammates. You know, you want the respect of the players around the league and the fans, but the main thing you want is the respect of your teammates. And that’s awesome. I try to be the best teammate I can be. I try to push guys to be the best they can be. I’m happy they voted for me to be a captain. I’m going to try to continue to push the issue and play the best that I can and help lead this team.”
Great insight into the mind of Evans, who continues to mature and mature and mature. What a 13-month roll he’s been on.
“He’s an extremely mature guy now,” Koetter said today.
Breathe easy, Bucs fans. Evans is already locked up for next year at what will be about $14 million. There’s plenty of time to pay him a fat contract — and for him to continue to prove himself.

Never in my life have I seen such a big guy with such good feet. Not sweating Xavier Rhodes this weekend at all and a Guarantee Jameis isn’t worried either. Jameis knows Both guys better than anyone in the league. I LAUGHED when the four letter said you shouldn’t start ME13 this week in Fantasy

I turned in to some of his college games… while Joe was getting all hot and bothered over Johnny, I was thinking to myself, “who is that wr making that QB look so good?”
I am so glad we have him on our team!

Rayjay J-
Neither would I. I really believe Mike Evans is thr best WR in the league!
I guarantee that Xavier is losing alot more sleep thinking about Evans, Than Evans is worrying about Rhodes!
Great watching this young man mature into the fantastic player he is today!
Our young QB and recievers are striking fear in the league!
Expect Godwin to Shine this weekend , too- Along with both our TEs!

Your right Capt Tim. Remember last years Seattle game? Richard Sherman kept crying to the officials every time he got schooled by Evans. Rhodes is one of my favorite FSU players and the dude can play but Mike is elite himself. It should be a good match up.

Wouldn’t trade 13 with any other receiver in the NFL either. **Can’t help but dream the 3 to 13 combo goes down among the greatest duo’s of all time. Only time will tell!**
