“20 Of Us In The House”
September 22nd, 2017When America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, talks about the Buccaneers needing to play as a “family” and operate as a family to thrive, it’s not some sort of BS line of public relations fluff.
Bucs fans got a small taste of that on Hard Knocks, but Jameis shed more light today on WDAE-AM 620.
Jameis was promoting a fancy, expensive bash launching his new foundation with a bang.
“Being in the house with ages varying from toddlers to 60-year-old men in the house, you know, 20 of us being in the house, being raised by my grandmother, it just showed me that true concept of family and really serving others,” Jameis said. “I view this community, I view these kids as my family. If I have the ability to help them out, if I have the ability to guide them in the right direction, whether that is financially or just mentally, I’m going to do that because we’re dependent on them and I just want to be able to serve them.”
Great stuff from Jameis. It’s really stunning to think what an impact throughout the Bay area Jameis could make over, say, a 15-year Bucs career with a few hundred million bucks in his bank account.

I hope he’s willing to play for less than he can get when it comes time for the big contract or there won’t be as much money for the rest of the Bucs family. How much does one player really need. He’ll make it up on endorsements ala Brady anyway.

@Cometowin2
Play for less??? What the heck, you’re already short-changing the kid…..look what Matt Stafford got! Let’s see, the franchise is now worth $2 billion according to Forbes, Malcolm paid around $100 million……PAY JAMEIS HIS MARKET VALUE and stop already with this play for less nonsense….Jameis will make it the old fashioned way — He’ll EARN IT…..dammit!

@Tom
Boom goes the dynamite!
Jameis will get what he wants, he’ll be happy, and he’ll be a great Buc for a long time. No worries.

One never knows about our Bucs. I’m anxious to see what our Bucs pay Jameis come new contract time. Our history indicates we can be stingy with QB’s..Just sayin!

We can be stingy with qbs. What are you talking about name the last qb to get a second contract from the bucs. And I don’t thing 8 million offer to Glennon was stingy or 5 million to Fitzpatrick. What about 10 million for McClown. I’m just not seeing this stingy pattern you speak of.

Let the fear go away folks. Don’t let it govern your life.
The Glazers know the gold mine of employees they have. They took care of McCoy, David, Smitty and I’m willing to bet before the year is over Licht will have happy $$ signs in his eyes with a contract extension.
These are not your old Bucs folks!!! That includes the Glazers.
Its DYNASTY era for this franchise.
Expect Different!!!
Go Bucs!!!

RayJay if they could only exercise that first line. Ish is like a infectious disease.

Jameis is like much of this team.
A great talent, and a great person.
Contrary to what some believe, I dont think a team with aholes wins championships.
Otherwise, the Bengals would be champions every year. Ive watched their idiots cost them more big games,than they’ve won them.
I believe that teams of high character win.
I believe this team will win very soon.

He deserves to get paid whatever he wants. Pay the man, Buc for life!

When premier QB’s sign for big bucks it does put a crimp in the team’s cap…but only for awhile. As the cap keeps going up the big salary gets relatively smaller and smaller if it’s a long term deal.
#3 will get paid…and Licht will balance the books. Think of how much money we’ve literally wasted in the past ten years. The major difference once #3 gets paid is we’ll have to pay better attention to FA’s.
As much as everyone wanted Calais Campbell I think the length of his contract at 31 was simply something this team didn’t wish to mess with. It’s one thing to pay a guy big bucks for a year or two but 4 or more get’s ridiculous.

Capt Tim, Wise words once again. Teams filled w/aholes always self destruct in the playoffs. Happens every time. When the pressure heats up, they decend into fighting and stupid personal fouls that kill the team in the end. They just can’t control their little egotistical pea brains. Pittsburgh’s Defense is another example.

Tom,
I’m not suggesting not to pay Jameis, only that if we pay him 35-40 million yr with all the others we need to eventually resign i.e. Evans, Kwon, Marpet, Smith, Pamphile, Hargreaves, Spence, Howard and Beckwith and also keep McCoy and David let alone resigning Grimes or TJ Ward that we are headed to a salary cap problem. I’m saying if Jameis is all about family like I think he is, he could play for 25 mil per year which is still 5 times what making now and we will have a better shot of keeping the talent together. Brady does this. See results.
