Unique Bucs Season Breakdown
August 1st, 2017Nothing screams credibility quite like a 40-something white dude wearing an FAU football jersey and a Dodgers cap backwards with a pack-of-Marlboro-a-day-habit-voice.
The video below was Twittered to Joe last night. No idea who this cat is or who he works for — per the video he goes by the name “Gabe” — but he does have a very nice studio setup. That tells Joe either he is a TV producer and got free use of a studio, or the guy has serious coin.
Anyway, Joe started watching this and thought it was a total joke. Winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter wanted “Hard Knocks?” That’s flat out false.
“Gabe” seems to want to like the Bucs but he has issues with the team. He is not a fan of Koetter but is a fan of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. He’s not a fan of DeSean Jackson but he is a fan of Jeremy McNichols. The more Joe watched this, the more the guy made valid points about the Bucs.
* The Bucs struggle closing out games. That’s true!
* The Bucs offense (last year) was overrated. That’s also true. The Bucs averaged 22 points a game — less than the Chiefs and maligned quarterback Alex Smith.
* “Kwon Alexander is the most underrated player in the NFL. … Kid is a stud.” Hard to disagree.
* “Gabe” does not like the rushing attack of the Bucs. He’s right. That is the a weak link. Even though “Gabe” likes McNichols, he openly admits the NFL ain’t no Utah State.
Just an interesting video Joe is passing along and you may be surprised at the ending.

His name is Gabriel morency. He used to host a show here in Canada with a guy named Cam who called himself the flaming redhead. They used to make predictions based on Vegas odds and were always overexcitable and like to push the censor boundaries. May have been cancelled due to censor issues.

Wow, this is what happens when some schmo just looks at stats and then tries to tell you what they like and what they don’t about a team without watching 1 minute of game tape!!!!!!! I haven’t seen so many wrong conclusions since I wasted my time reading a “kobe liar” post!!!!!!!!!!
Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!

LMAO… This guy got Killed on his youtube video!… stickcarriers having a hard time speaking softly 😮
August 1st, 2017 at 12:45 pm
lmao wtf
The Bucs have absolutely been closers with Jameis Winston. I charted the game logs and he has a very good record in close winn-able games.
We lost 2 games by close scores last year; not 7 lol. On the other hand we won a lot of close games with Winston.
So many other things I could point out but not worth the time

He lost me at Chris “Good”win? Lol…

I think the guy looks and sounds like a caricature of a 90’s sports radio host, but he did make a number of a valid points. The offense always started slow last year and the defense wilted when it mattered in a number of critical games. The Rams game was horribly mismanaged by Koetter last year, losing to a Raiders team who committed the most number of penalties in a game and the Cowboys game where the defense and offense both let each other down. I hope the additions of D-Jax and Howard help open up the run game to take more pressure off of Jameis. Nine wins may seem like a disappointing season but it is also a very likely outcome.

Gabriel Morency! Used to listen to him all the time here in Montreal…was at my Bar Mitzvah!

The guy needs to ditch the hat and jersey. Looks like a dork and hard to take him seriously.
August 1st, 2017 at 1:57 pm
spiritof76 – it is hard to take him seriously – not because he looks like a dork – but because he barely knows what he’s talking about.

This is the opinion of someone who doesn’t watch much Bucs football…He’s right on some point, but it’s like he read the storylines versus watching the games..

Never trust a guy that cut his teeth on football watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders! Speaking of Jeremy mcnichols. If the basis of his argument about him coming from the mountain west is a detriment of whether he can play in the N F L then I’d love to hear what his argument is on why Jerry Rice made it from ,I think it was Mississippi valley state ! Talent is talent no matter where you play.Hey Gabe shut up and watch ! Go Bucs !!!

He’s right about a few things actually. He’s right about kwon , desean, popcorn vs beef, the running game and the losing.
Kwon is underrated. 21 tackles? Who does that?
Desean didn’t help the eagles or the redskins which is sad but true. Last time desean went deep into the playoffs he was playing for the eagles with mike Vick and shady McCoy. He got hurt for most of the game and they lost to the packers.
No secret we ignored the oline this year. Unless I see something in the preseason games I’ll bet we see Fitz and Griffin “trying” to play ball this year.
No Jac is not a feature back in the NFL. He’s a GREAT #2 back in the NFL but he’s not a rushing leader.
Winning? Shiiiii do we even have a kicker? Lol, coach can’t presently line up for a 52 yards game winner or 48 for that matter.
Truth be told the Bucs can as easily go 0-5/1-4 as they can 4-1/3-2 to start the season. The one thing I disagree with is Koetter. If this season goes south the blame is squarely on Licht shoulders. If it doesn’t then I say Koetter and Jameis win disputed the owners and GM.

Charles
Jay ajayi and Dougie fresh both came from BSU. So although he’s right about the level of comp, there are BSU players making pro bowls.

I brought this video to Joes attention last night. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. I do agree on MAYBE a couple of his points but most of it is garbage. I couldn’t believe that everything we as fans are excited about this season is what this guy was harping on. Hard to not drink the kool aid right now with all of the talent on this team. Funny thing is, he still predicted 9 wins for us. Lol.

He likes Chris “Goodwin”….it’s GODwin. Told me all I needed to know about his analysis.
August 1st, 2017 at 3:44 pm
He has a great non objective view of the bucs and is spot on with many things esp from a short term investment persepective, hope bucs prove him right in some areas and wrong in others
August 1st, 2017 at 4:09 pm
Without looking it up, didn’t DeSean Jackson play in a playoff game with the Eagles? Do know the Redskins were in the playoffs with him.
For those that don’t think Jackson is an upgrade for the Bucs, would you really prefer Bernard Reedy?

2015 redskins lost in the wildcard round. Desean was hurt most of the season and recorded career lows in receptions and yards that year.

Please Joe. I give you the most credit of all the TB mafia. Don’t play yourself.

He is actually more knowledgable about the bucs than anyone at ESPN. Still not as knowledgble as he should be though.
August 1st, 2017 at 6:03 pm
And we did add Sweezy this year. That is a big Prime rib if you ask me.
August 1st, 2017 at 7:30 pm
Hahahaha 🙂
August 1st, 2017 at 10:58 pm
I don’t think he knows anything about the bucs or worse about football
If he was a mediorce bettor he would take the bucs +375 and + 200 easy.

What a DOUCHE!

New England fans. How can we end up 9-7 and not improve with Jackson, Howard, Godwin and I’ll say it again Mcnichols. Will see.
