Time To Shine

August 11th, 2017

Number called.

In the very first clip “Hard Knocks” released of this season’s focus on the Bucs, the very first words out of winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter’s mouth to the rookies was about “preparing to make the most of opportunities… be ready when your opportunity comes.”

Ryan Smith, here is your opportunity.

Last year, the former safety never logged one snap on defense as a rookie. Late in the season, the Bucs scrapped their plans and sent him back to corner, where he was a small-college stud.

Now, with Brent Grimes out with a gash to his shin, up steps Smith. He is expected to start tonight against the Bengals.

In the winter, a Bucs type told Smith absolutely jumped out in practices late in the season when he returned to corner. He practiced well enough against the “ones” that the Bucs now had renewed hopes in him.

And while to the untrained eye corners like Javien Elliott and Robert McClain have flashed in training camp, Koetter has lauded the summer Smith has had, though Joe thinks Smith has looked tentative and slow.

So now, Smith gets to prove the Bucs are onto something. It’s a good opportunity to make a name for himself.

Other than some lackluster kickoff returns in 2016, this will be our 1st chance to see last year’s 4th rd pick get any real playing time.

    Watcha got Ryan Smith?

GAME DAY BITCHES!!!! Finally the long wait is over.

The 5 players I’m looking to get a good long look at Friday are Qb R. Griffin, Rb Barber, Wr Godwin, S Evans and Cb Smith.

Anyone notice McCoy on HK say coach Smith turned down a head coach offer. I knew he was considered but don’t remember if it was reported that he was offered a job. Jags, Chargers?

“Nico Marley is stealing the show.

The Washington Redskins linebacker and grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley has been all over the field in his NFL debut, and was just rewarded with his first career NFL sack.”

    You can’t teach HEART!!!
