Super Bowl Bound?
August 28th, 2017Even after a few glasses of Eagle Rare bourbon on the rocks, Joe would be hard-pressed to imagine this.
It seems the Bucs are going to the Super Bowl. This season. Really. And with an MVP quarterback.
That’s the word from Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel.
Now Joe isn’t sure if Bianchi is being sarcastic or not (very possible) but he believes this year will be a season for the ages for the Bucs.
Write this down so you’ll remember who said it first: Jameis Winston will win the MVP and lead the Bucs to a 12-4 record and a division title before losing to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.
People need to slow their roll, man. While it’s nice to dream of jiggly things like this in the dark of the night, the Bucs must first make the playoffs. Even winning the division seems like a steep task when you look at the NFC South teams.
Hell, even with all the new toys for Jameis, one could make a logical argument the Bucs could still finish last in the NFC South. Yes, the division is that good.
Joe is ready for real games to start and the prognosticating to end.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:05 am
Absolutely no chance. Team has to get its feet wet in playoffs first.
If they can do that this year would be a huge step
August 28th, 2017 at 11:13 am
Playing the overly rosey expectations game and that’s a good way to set yourself up for disappointment when your team doesn’t get to, not just the playoffs but, to the SB? Really?
August 28th, 2017 at 11:16 am
Ahh Eagle Rare
Nose: Complex aromas of toffee, hints of orange peel, herbs, honey, leather and oak.
Taste: Bold, dry, oaky flavors with notes of candied almonds and very rich cocoa.
Finish: Dry and lingering.
Hangover: Intense and lasting.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:20 am
Bianchi is well known for his hyperbole and while at times entertaining should always be taken with a grain of salt
August 28th, 2017 at 11:23 am
Jameis MVP I can imagine but Pffft… Super Bowl hahahaha That Dline will make this a pipe dream. Keep Spence out until he learns he can’t bull rush Joe Thomas. That was embarrassing.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:26 am
While I don’t think that Mike Blanchi is drinking the Kool-Aid, he’s had a couple of drinks at the bar with that statement. The Bucs are going in the right direction, but the the Super Bowl is still some miles away. We’re getting closer, but still got a ways to go.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:34 am
Spence’s bull rush on Joe Thomas was probably one of the funniest plays I’ve ever seen. As it was being shown, could just picture Joe Thomas (10-time All-Pro & outweighs Spawn by 75 lbs) saying “Yo youngster, what exactly do you you think you’re doing? Next time, try to go around, not through.”
August 28th, 2017 at 11:44 am
@Defense Rules hahahaha exactly!
August 28th, 2017 at 11:45 am
I’m a Huge Bucs fan but Super Bowl talk is just crazy. No one seems to talk about this brutal schedule the Bucs have. Giants, Pats( on a short week), at Green Bay, and then having to play in the NFC South!?
August 28th, 2017 at 11:45 am
If Joe Thomas was “dominating” NS57 so much,,,, I wonder why they had the running back helping him on so many plays???? Weird!!!! its like another team thinks NS57 is out best pass rusher!!!!!!
Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!
August 28th, 2017 at 11:47 am
Sounds about right. Now for those whwro doubt it,tell me who the BIG bad teams are that will give us trouble. Russell won his his third year. Is Fameis not as good as he was three years in??? Of cousre he is maybe better. Mind you cam has thrown 2 passes in the pre season,Ryan was 4 of 11 yesterday. Again who are these teams???
August 28th, 2017 at 11:50 am
How long will yal be on this brutal schedule bulls#@$??? Its the NFL man,if you dont prepare properly a so called weak team will whip yal @$$. I’ll ask again Who Are These Teams So Better Than The Buc for now lets just say on paper. The Giants??? Have noticed they have no Oline and minimal running game dude. Pssss.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:53 am
I was thinking the same thing just this morning.
If the preseason truly is the opposite world of the regular season then not only are we Super Bowl bound but we’re going undefeated too!
August 28th, 2017 at 11:53 am
Even Tom Brady made a statement two weeks ago saying its not quite fair people talking as if its a forgone conclusion they will get back and this years Big game. He said yes we have a good roster but this team is alot different from the one that won last season’s superbowl. Raise ya weak @$$ expectations man.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:55 am
Yea they singed Cooks, but can you gaurantee he’ll have the same impact Edelman had??? You can’t.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:55 am
Eagle Rare on the rocks? That would kill it. You should try Noah’s Mill – it’s excellent as well, but if you put ice in it- don’t write about it. Sad to see good bourbon go to waste.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:59 am
Hate to say this but this defense is badddd
Leaks on all 3 levels
Do not have the talent and playmakers on the defense side
Too many wiffs on the draft on defense while our div rivals hitting hrs
Smitty is a very good coach but he cant do nothing with this mess of lack of talent
We are going to get run on after we sliced and diced by the short quick passing game
Koetter is going to have to go full offensive attack but his playcalling and scheme isnt high percentage and effective
Worst 5 defense on 2017
August 28th, 2017 at 12:01 pm
Like why should the players even play hard with these low expectation having @$$ fans. Seattle wasn’t some historically winning @$$ organization. They hired Pete he built the team drafted the right QB a won a chip three years later.
August 28th, 2017 at 12:08 pm
Who Are these teams!!! Last year this time I was saying Seattle had five new starting o linemen. That was their undoing in the playoffs. Now tell me these teams so I can break’em down for you.
August 28th, 2017 at 12:11 pm
Way to thin at too many positions. QB needs to not rely on mike evens so much . He looked average without him . That said I do believe he will get there . We need the defense to carry us early , stay healthy at key positions and let this offense start rolling . Playoffs are possible .
August 28th, 2017 at 12:13 pm
Kobe says we have no defense. Out starters have surrendered how many points this pre season??? You might wanna check out some of these scores from over the weekend. To me defense is looking like a thing of the past my G.
August 28th, 2017 at 12:14 pm
@The Buc Realist NS57 got owned one on one with Joe which is understandable, but not throwing another move in there at least, ANYTHING was embarrassing. When he was doubled he was getting washed out by a RB is just plain sad. Devonte Lambert is playing better than NS57 right now.
August 28th, 2017 at 12:24 pm
@shouldhavedraftedeifert
you can watch, around the 30 second mark. Is it sad??? When a DE playing a vanilla scheme is getting this much attention, I want him on the field !!!!!! The question is what are the 3 other guys doing on their assignments!!!!!!!

August 28th, 2017 at 12:27 pm
Our success this season is 100 percent contingent upon our 95 percent of our starters staying healthy.
All of us saw how ugly our offense can look without key starters like Mike Evans, Djax, and Kevin Pamphile.
All of us saw how putrid our pass rush truly is without GMC causing chaos in the middle, and how much trouble we will be in if Brent Grimes or VHIII goes down when the games actually count.
I love this team with all my heart, but I am a realist, Our over depth at numerous positions is still no where near good enough. At least not this year.
But if we do stay healthy everyone plays at or near their peak potential, we could make it to the big show this year.
August 28th, 2017 at 12:29 pm
Defense is a thing of the past as far as the rules are but kobe you may be on to something with the bucs defense, i have faith in coach smith that he is playing a vanilla defense to see if the players can do their job in the preseason games and then come regular season there are some specific packages to gain advantages against the cutlers of the world
August 28th, 2017 at 12:32 pm
Has anyone mentioned the oline or is the plan to get Jameis murdered again this year?
August 28th, 2017 at 12:36 pm
Idk what you are talking about? Could still finish last? The Saints are gonna suck this year have seen their defense?
Hope you are right! However, the Saints did thump us in with the season on the line last year in New Orleans. And, of course, they drafted and signed players, too.—Joe
August 28th, 2017 at 12:40 pm
Ive said for monthes that 2018 is the year. too many new pieces and Jameis still needs to work on his chemistry with everyone not named Mike Evans and red zone scoring.
August 28th, 2017 at 1:01 pm
Oh all the classic stories I recall…the little train who made it to the top of the hill chugging…”I think I can’t…”I think I can’t…”
Or there’s Norman Vincent Peale’s best seller…”The Power of Negative Thinking”.
Thankfully our QB does not post here!!! I can freaking guarantee you he BELIEVES we can get to Minny….So forgive me for putting my chips on #3 and not the disbelievers here.
Our schedule is NOT brutal. In fact look at it again. It lines up great for us!!!
Our bye is not until week 11…time to heal for the playoff run…which by the way will start right after that bye when we play Atlanta twice and Charlotte and N.O.
The front of our schedule is also pretty easy…the Fins…Bears and Vikings are simply not world beaters. The Gmen are in our house….should have beaten them last year if ME13 and a moronic penalty didn’t interfere…and Odell is banged up…
Some here are looking to beat the Pats at home…works for me.
I agree with Bianchi. If we do not meet that prediction it will have nothing to do with our schedule and everything to do with OUR performance.
August 28th, 2017 at 1:02 pm
Super Bowl Bound?? Are you kiddin me!!! I gotta tell my supplier to hook up with Mike Bianchi’s connection cause he’s smokin that…Star Trek Beyond stuff!!!
August 28th, 2017 at 1:10 pm
Weak minded people I tell ya. Like Jameis says, if you are gonna do it, do it big. Dream big! Why not us?…
“Im tired of low expectations!” — My MVP QB
August 28th, 2017 at 1:17 pm
NOS
Kobe doesnt care absolutely nothing about the preseason
too many holes in the defense
old,slow,small, and lack of playmaking
2016 def is much better than this 2017 misfits
Kobe see 6-10 with 2 gimmee Ws at the last 2 games because Car and Saints want to lose to get better draft position
August 28th, 2017 at 1:48 pm
Include that hole you talking out of homie. And with the amount of dolly doubters round these parts I figured someone would be willing to give a list of at least three teams we don’t stack up against this season. You won’t because you know better.
August 28th, 2017 at 2:07 pm
I’ll have what he is having…
August 28th, 2017 at 2:23 pm
First our depth is putrid and like every team on every season there will injurys but lets pretend there wont be one
Slot corner? Who? Off coords going to put big recievers to overwhelm our mini mi s
No where spence is a tweener who will get his 5garbage sacks end of the games. Cant play the run and is a handicap
Defensive line is old and no push up front.
Will be exposed when the 3rd linebacker is in pass coverage
Safties are 1 year older and never really talented
Def fa- wilcox? Wasnt even a starter in a mediocre dal team
Baker? Just got paid and chillin
Bucs sheep didnt even know who wilcox and baker was last year
Def draft? Wif
Serious question for the long timers
Have there ever been a high 2nd round that has hardly ever talked about, mentioned / so quiet at training camp and preseason than our evans in the history of the bucs?
Its amazing
NOS,
KOBE oves the bucs but im not a blind lover
August 28th, 2017 at 2:39 pm
It would have been best to keep mcdougle and draft a DE like Demarcus Walker or Jordan Willis or even get Joe Mixon. But wtf do I know? I’m sure tons of GMs who “know the business” draft 2nd rnd safeties who struggle to tackle and don’t start. Spending a 2nd pick on a guy to faircatch kickoffs and cover punts seems like a reasonable use of resources. I’m positive mike smith loves the pick.
August 28th, 2017 at 2:41 pm
@The Buc Realist Good question indeed. You see that hold on Spence at the 2:30 mark? If it doesn’t get held that’s a sack. Still tho, he’s got a long way to go. He lost too many one on one battles.
August 28th, 2017 at 3:13 pm
Just remember guys. Realist likes to go through the old threads to see who was right and who was wrong.
IF the Bucs make the playoffs and advance about half the posters here have lost every bit of their fan cred. I don’t want to hear any bull about not wanting to be disappointed and being conservative.
Teams and athletes that advance beyond expectations are simply LUCKY. Teams and athletes that believe in their abilities and advance are GOOD!
August 28th, 2017 at 3:15 pm
You said a lot without saying anything Kobe. I’m waiting on your list of bad @$$ teams.
August 28th, 2017 at 3:22 pm
If the Bucs DO make it to the Super Bowl – then its not that much of a reach that Jameis would earn MVP honors getting us there. The two may well be tied together.
Now whether that’s this year or I don’t know – but it seems doubtful for this year unless something magical happens and the OL ad DL both play at a top 10 level in 2017.
Let’s just get to the playoffs and win a post season game before any realistic thoughts of Super Bowl can take hold.
Its fun to dream when your record is 0-0 I guess…
August 28th, 2017 at 3:31 pm
@NOLE…I AGREE!!!!….when are some fans gonnna stop with the tough schedule BS….
I don’t see why we cant make the SB…..
coming into the season…..
no one saw cam winning MVP….no one saw CAR making it to the SB…
no one saw ryan winning MVP….no one saw ATL making it to the SB…
Russell Wilson said it best,” WE NOT US”….GO BUCS!!!
August 28th, 2017 at 3:34 pm
This was my exact prediction a couple months ago.
August 28th, 2017 at 3:40 pm
Who Are These Teams So Better Than The Buc for now lets just say on paper. The Giants??? Have noticed they have no Oline and minimal running game dude. Pssss.
How long will yal be on this brutal schedule bulls#@$???
You might wanna check out some of these scores from over the weekend. To me defense is looking like a thing of the past my G.
I know it aint sunday, but nole just took yall to church….PREACH BROTHA!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!
August 28th, 2017 at 4:23 pm
813 I’m still waiting for someone to give a few teams. The falcons didn’t even make the playoffs the year before they ultimately went the superbowl last season. Maybe I should rephrase the question. Who do you dolly’s feel are the favorites to win the nfc conference. There, that should be easy.
August 28th, 2017 at 4:41 pm
13 – 3
We will dethrone Mr. Deflated and BillyCheat.
Matt Ryan had the deer in the head light look on the 2nd half of the super bowl. You will never see that from Winston.
These are not the old Bucs folks.
Expect Different!!!!
Go Bucs!!!
August 28th, 2017 at 5:43 pm
I think we have the talent and team chemistry to win the big dance if we can stay healthy enough. Count me in as a believer.
August 28th, 2017 at 6:17 pm
@Nos
If we can stay healthy, we match up pretty well against just about anyone.
August 28th, 2017 at 6:32 pm
We just played a game where our entire defensive front got owned for 60 mins and last week our QB threw a int(basically) that he aimlessly threw without a clue where it was throw to.
Totally agree with Joe. It fun to dream about but to call us a true contendet, at this point, is just guzzled the koolaid while wearing 2-foot thick blinders.
This team has a lot still to prove on the field.
August 28th, 2017 at 7:14 pm
I can’t believe a junk-yard dog named ‘Joe’ is drinking Eagle Rare. lol
August 28th, 2017 at 8:11 pm
The Bucs have as good a shot at making it to the SuperBowl as any NFC team … there isn’t a single NFC team that scares me … the ONLY two NFL teams that I would say are “obviously better” than us are the Patriots and Steelers, that’s it.
August 28th, 2017 at 8:12 pm
That’s all I’m attempting to get them to understand Blake. All things equal we match up with anybody.
August 28th, 2017 at 8:12 pm
I actually think a SB berth is far more probable than Jameis winning the MVP as I don’t think the team will have as many wins as Green Bay and the Patriots so Rodgers and Brady will get more MVP votes even if Jameis throws for more yards and TDs imho.
August 28th, 2017 at 8:14 pm
NFL do a little research on that Steelers defense bro. I have a partner who’s a Steeler and he’s admittedly concerned.
August 28th, 2017 at 8:18 pm
NOSBOS … I hear ya and I don’t think Pitt is on the Patriot’s level but I would absolutely favor them against the Bucs as-is … I could see the Bucs winning if things broke right but they are the only other team outside of New England that actually scares me … not a single team in the NFC scares me one bit … some may beat us but none seem “obviously better” than us.
August 28th, 2017 at 8:21 pm
@NFLNut
I’d agree with your two teams, but Oakland is very much on my radar as well. Their offense is already pretty much elite, and their defense is pretty damn good as well.
August 28th, 2017 at 8:28 pm
^ I’m not as high on the Raiders as many are … they’ve got a ton of talent no doubt and they may beat the Bucs but they don’t “scare me” like the Pats or Steelers … I’m also not sold on Lynch and think he could end up being a disappointment for them.
August 28th, 2017 at 8:34 pm
Capt tim…lol team needs to get its feet wet first in the playoffs? That is totally false…any team can get to the super bowl if they are in the tournament…dont you remember the 99 rams? That’s the most overrated thing I’ve heard anyone say
August 28th, 2017 at 8:41 pm
^ I agree with you “Q” … in the NBA I do think teams need to “get their feet wet” as young teams don’t win titles, but the NFL is different … any team can get to a SB from any seed and there isn’t a single NFC team that is “obviously better” than us!
August 28th, 2017 at 9:02 pm
We are paper Champs handwritten by the fans of JBF. That’s all gumdrops and rainbows but in reality our defensive line just got manhandled by the laughing stock of football and our leader is still struggling with his decision making.
There is no chance this team can get into the playoffs playing like this nor how they played last year.
I like to give credit where credit is do and I guess some fans just have there heads in the clouds…………the fact is that this team has proven to be a true contender yet no matter how you look at it. If they did they would have some chrome……….and no, the girl on TV that has a crush on Winston and the goon on ESPN that says Winston is MVP bound don’t qualify as anything
August 28th, 2017 at 9:10 pm
And I can’t quite recall the number but I read something about their are four or five new teams in the playoffs that weren’t in the tournament the previous season. It said this has been occurring in the NFL for I believe over the past ten season’s.
August 28th, 2017 at 9:21 pm
He’s obviously talking about the last two seasons with Atlanta and Carolina. But screw what the media thinks. No one gave the 2007 (the last time the Buccs were in the playoffs) Giants a shot, they made it in as the sixth seed and won it all. So, the Buccs should only worry about their own expectations despite what scribes write about on the team.
August 28th, 2017 at 10:28 pm
Yo some of you just need to relax. The defense was solid at the end of last year and we added some pieces. The offense was a work in progress and we added several solid pieces to the offense.
You guys have to change the mindset to being positive about the team. Every team has question marks. And no team is so stacked that they have this “solid” depth some of you want. There is no way anyone here can even name the second string of the Patriots and they are the defending SB champs.
The Bucs could make the playoffs and then its a 50/50 shot each game to move forward. The Bucs could also tank and not make the playoffs. But go look at the schedule and I think most of you will see a winnable schedule where we can get to 10 or 11 wins.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:11 pm
Make since to me USF. NFL I don’t feel the pats and steelers are notch above the rest of the league. The steelers gave up a gang total yards to oposing teams last season and have done the same thus far this pre season. The pats well yea they’re well coached and seem to get the most out of they’re players but brady 40 bro and he looked as much against the texans last post season and the falcons for a half. H3ll edlman miracle catch was thrown into triple coverage. The Gods were on they’re side that Sunday. But can they bank on that forever??? Time will tell.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:16 pm
I’m really looking forward to week 5 when we face those dudes from the north east. I’m hoping its hot and muggy that Thursday evening.
August 28th, 2017 at 11:28 pm
To be honest I stop viewing the steelers as being a notch above when we marched into they’re house and walked out victorious with Mike Glennon as our starting QB a few years back.
August 29th, 2017 at 7:21 am
If we get to the Super Bowl we won’t be losing it.
August 29th, 2017 at 12:06 pm
Kevin Garnett once said “Anything is possible.” Actually he kind of shouted it at the top of his lungs, but you get the point.
