Jameis And Chemistry
August 20th, 2017[UPDATE: 2:58 p.m.] Boy, Bucs fan got a treat today, those who came out for training camp practice.
The crowd (bleachers were mostly full) seemed to be half asleep. Part of it was the Bucs were running special teams drills and part of it was maybe the heat. Of course, a hidden aspect could have been the previous night’s activities.
Aside from hearing a tune from Montell Jordan, the crowd was pretty much dead.
America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, DeSean Jackson and Mike Evans took care of that in a hurry.
With the ball near the Bucs-45 yard line (if you can envision the Bucs playing against another team), Jameis went back to pass and heaved an absolute bomb down the right sideline, about 40 yards in the air. Jackson ran under it as the ball dropped right in his arms and Jackson… was… gone! A 55-yard artillery bombshell. The crowd went crazy.
Oh, but it wasn’t over. Adding some Magic Johnson-like Lakers showtime to the mix, Jackson crossed the goal line and alley-ooped the ball to Mike Evans who slammed the ball over the crossbar.
The crowd, as Al Michaels would say, was at full throat.
Damn that was fun to watch. And Joe sure hopes it was a taste of things to come in the regular season.
Jameis certainly has chemistry with Jackson and he sure as heck has it with Cam Brate, who may have had his best training camp practice this summer, which is saying a lot. Dude was catching damn near everything from juggling catches to selling out and laying out for a catch.
“Since Jameis first got here, those two guys clicked,” winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said of Jameis and Brate. “The chemistry thing, it’s hard to put a finger on it. Some guys never get it. Some guys get it early. Those two guys definitely have.”
A fun, high-flying offense coming to Tampa Bay? Joe can scarcely believe it.

Here is video of Jameis’ bomb to Jackson, and Evans’ slam. Hat tip “Nole on Sat.”

Koetter’s comments were for the consumption of opposing coaches…

I think almost as exciting as the chemistry between #3 and his receivers is the chemistry between DJAX and ME13!!! It was clear on the last HK episode.
These guys have become as tight as Frick and Frack…Laurel and Hardy…they are tight.
To be honest that was my biggest fear when we signed DJAX. How would two lead dogs fare when it came to pulling the sled together. How would ME13 feel when he looked at DJAX making so much more $$$ than him. They both “get it”.
They’re clearly looking for SB rings as much as individual honors and so they realize one’s success will enable the other.
But is it just me…that HK episode made it seem even more than just professional respect and need…it’s like these guys are actually friends.

This offense is going to clown a whole lot of opposing defenses this year.

One thing I’ve noticed from Jameis is it really looks like his accuracy has greatly improved (not that it was that big of an issue to begin with). It seems like he is focusing a little more on the short, easy throws, which is opening up the down the field throws. I just can’t wait to see it when these games start to count.

Brate reminded him of O’leary back at FSU. That’s my theory as to why those two have connected so seamlessly.

That seam route he threw to ME the other night OMG😮. If it wasn’t PERFECTLY thrown the safety would’ve blasted Mike.

I think of Dallas Clark when it’s comes to Cam Brate, Howard as a Tony Gonzales type skill set and we have the premier speed wr and premier jump up and abuse you wr. Gonna be a fun season

” the crow was pretty much dead.” Welcome to Tampa. The only time they can get wild at practice is if the Commish and joe have a party to fire them up?

If Winston’s accuracy has improved by one foot, that’s a lot of previously uncatchable balls that will now move the team forward.
