“Not Worried” About Touches
July 5th, 2017It doesn’t appear that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is concerned with egos.
This year, there is no question Jameis has targets. But wide receivers, as we know, can be diva-ish. There is only one thing receivers want more than a check with a bunch of zeros in it: the football.
Early in underwear football this year, Jameis was asked if he is worried about getting his receivers the ball enough. Jameis quickly dismissed the notion, saying he doesn’t “discriminate.” If a receiver wants the ball, Jameis said the solution is simple: get open and get fed.
At his youth football camp last weekend at his old stomping grounds in the Birmingham, Ala. area, Jameis was again asked about dealing with wide receiver egos that demand the ball. Jameis brushed off the notion there may be friction.
As a quarterback, how much do you worry about making sure gets their touches???
“I’m not worried. I’m not worried at all,” Jameis said. “We have some selfless guys on our team. It’s about how we execute. Let me tell you one thing: when you are winning, everybody, in some way, is happy. If you get two catches or one catch, if you are winning, everybody is happy.”
And thus lies the key: Winning cures all ills; winning is the greatest perfume. Dirk Koetter himself talked about touches and winning and egos last week on the Ira Kaufman Podcast (20-minute mark).
And as we all know by now, Jameis is all about winning.

Realistically djax and ME are the only ones that would and could complain. Oj Godwin and others are young and not established. If mike gets over 80 and Jackson get his 50-60 they won’t be angry
Feel like you guys are making too big a deal

The touches puzzle looks daunting in preseason, but when was the last time the Bucs made it through an entire season without losing a single WR, TE or RB to injury? One of the ‘givens’ of NFL football is that injuries will happen, it’s a violent sport. And for some reason, injuries seem to happen to playmakers … WRs, TEs & RBs expecially … more than to some other positions. Fortunately Bucs have much better depth at those positions this year than in years past. Jameis is absolutely right … and touches won’t be an issue when all’s said & done.

Catches per game prediction
ME- 6.5
DJax- 4.5
OJ- 4
Humpries- 2.5
Other WRs/TE – 3
RBs- 2.5
He has averaged about 21 completions her game. I have added a couple more because of better targets and maturity with the offense. Both of these will improve accuracy
Everyone will be happy! Especially Buc’s fans as we watch a dominate offense get better and better.
