King Of The Tipped Pass

July 30th, 2017

Impressive concentration.

If there is a tipped pass, Joe has a hunch who will come down with it.

It seems rookie tight end O.J. Howard has a magnet for the ball. Not so much that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is always targeting him, but it seems any time a ball is tipped, Howard comes down with it.

Already Joe can tell that Jameis throws passes differently to different receivers. Fans complain Jameis may throw the ball too high, to Mike Evans to be precise, but that’s because Jameis knows Evans can sky for the ball over corners.

Joe has yet to see Jameis overthrow DeSean Jackson, for example. But with Howard, who works with the “twos” (second team) as much as with the “ones” (starters), Jameis throws balls more high than low, because Howard can go up and get it.

And, boy, can he ever.

Today, again, Howard made a crazy catch off a tipped ball. It is like he has some sort of science fiction like ability to draw the ball towards him.

Call it, a superpower. Howard is, Joe has now deemed, “King of the Tipped Pass.”

Man, this offense is fun just to watch in practice. Can only imagine what it may be like in a real game.

I thought Brent Grimes already held that title on this team…

There is another benefit to all these weapons for #3. It’s been discussed but perhaps not enough.

This has to be great for our back seven and especially the DB’s. Everyday they’re going to be working against some of the best talent in the league. In most games, not all, the Buc defenders will be facing receivers who are not as talented as what they see everyday in practice.

And our defenders are seeing it all. Killer speed from DJAX…one of the best all around WR’s in ME13..and a TE who can block and receive…

As #3 likes to say…iron sharpens iron!

I don’t want to hear or see the “tipped passes”, or “jump balls”!!!!!! We saw too much of that last year!!!!! I will be looking for “accurate passes” and “hitting in stride”!!!!!! There should be plenty of space and talent in this offense to easily do that!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!

Realist has a point. Accuracy updates are what most of us are looking out for.

Hide your eyes and cover your ears. Jameis is Jameis and he should be embraced by Bucs fans, not nitpicked to death.

If Jameis isn’t good enough for Bucs fans, pretty sure Josh McCown could be reacquired at a friendly cost.

Geez, the way some people kvetch, you’d think Rob Johnson is the starting quarterback. smh

There are at least 10 NFL owners who would give up their left nad to have Jameis.

If accuracy is all you care about, pretty sure Dirk Koetter could change Jameis into Checkdown Charlie and have a completion percentage of 65 percent with most passes never going eight yards.

    @Joe

I meant that I wanted to hear more about our “weapons” getting open and/or separation, and not having a defender easily draped on them in coverage,,, then the accuracy of the QB!!!!!!!!!

I think that the old “dunkaneers” model, was too slow and to easy defended and really the “jump ball” was the only open type of pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe you cant give a guy a handle in underwear football… Thats not fair to the Kenny Bells of the world…. LOL

For real though…. You cant be a King of anything in underwear football… Unless you just forgot to make that part clear in all your gittyness…. Which is understandable….

Hmmmm…… those tips will turn in to ints in the reg season. No?

  12. DRFEELGOOD Says:

Funny you say the Destinjohnny. Our QB was SEC offensive PLAYER of the year as a true freshman. He wasn’t the problem. Lane Kiffin going psycho and getting booted before the title game was really the main problem. That, and Clemson made some amazing plays in that 4th quarter. Gotta tip the cap, although painfully, from this Bama fan. GO BUCS!!!

Here we go again it’s called practice!
where you sharpen your dull edges. What game in REAL TIME has been played with perfect accuracy. You practice how to over come disruptions from the defense…that’s more like reality…not fictional perfect ball. The game is all about how well you OVERCOME adversity!

Talented players know how to look good in perfect situations but how do you make a great play in an imperfect situation. You learn in PRACTICE!
You use this time to improve on the TIPS that took you down the last time.

Finally like Joe referred to…Jamies and the players know the best ball placement each receiver needs, to be successful!

    Go Bucs iron sharpens iron☠
