Jameis Says He Is No. 4
July 4th, 2017Interesting fresh honesty from America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and it just might be another self-motivational tool.
Like his teammate and fellow Alabama native Kwon Alexander, it seems Jameis looks for all sorts of ways to stay motivated to be his best self. Back in his old Birmingham-area stomping grounds over the weekend, Jameis confessed to reporters he is the No. 4 quarterback in the NFC South.
Jameis was asked if the NFC South was the toughest division in the NFL since it is filled with strong quarterbacks, and if the Bucs have a chance to make it three straight years that an NFC South team advanced to the Super Bowl.
“I am very privileged to play in the division,” Jameis said. “All of our quarterbacks have went to a Super Bowl; all of our quarterbacks have won an MVP – besides me. So I am just trying to compete against those guys. I know if I can outplay those guys, we will be in good shape.”
So far, Jameis is doing well in the division. Jameis is 3-1 vs. Atlanta, 2-2 against both Carolina and New Orleans. A winning record against division foes after two seasons isn’t bad at all.
And depending on if Cam Newton can bounce back from a rough 2016, Jameis may already be the No. 3 quarterback in the division.

He will be #1 as soon as he wins us a super bowl

I like this truth. Jamies realizes you gotta earn everything.
A big reason this isn’t the 2011 Bucs

Love Jaboo’s humility here, and notice how he isn’t saying that he’s the worst QB in the NFCS? He’s merely acknowledging that Drew, Matt, and Cam have all accomplished more than he has to this point and that he can’t rank himself above them yet.

Coach K can utilize those new weapons along with Evans…with DJax going deep, Howard over the middle….I mean who the heck do you double? DC nightmare! And if our run game gets going…btch please lol.

Love that humility (Jaboo trademark). Keeping my longtime support of all things Bucs this year from Montana!

True – but not for long. And yet I wouldn’t trade Jameis for any other QB in this division or the league for that matter.

Me neither Pickgrin. Happy 4th of July everybody.
July 4th, 2017 at 8:02 am
@Picgrin
Good point. None of us have QB envy……at least I don’t think so….I’d sure like to hear from someone at JBF who would trade Jameis even-up for any of those three. They are at the very least older and more expensive.
And Cammy….well, he showed his a$$ after the SB and will never recover from that.

Speaking for Pablo
“Pablo thinks Haboo is number one…..and Pablo wishes all of his JBF amigos a
happy Cuatro de Julio. Pablo will drink mucho cervezas today along with BBQ chimichangas and baked bean chalupas. Pablo will take his many, many, many childrens to see fireworks……sorry 87 & Realist….Pablo no dance tonite”

I neither liked nor loathed JFRO personally. I was one of the fans booing his selection. He had certain skill sets but he was NEVER a true franchise QB.
If you need to really absorb the difference in the JFRO era and the #3 era simply imagine this jarring image!!!
Can anyone on this board even imagine #3 posing laid on the ground with a baby tiger and a suit appropriate for a 70’s porno star? No you can’t because that is sooooo NOT #3!!!
Happy 4th of July everyone. It’s a great day in Tampa Bay and an awesome time to be a Buc’s fan!

Freeman did that on his “day off” in the middle of the season.
Jameis leaving town on his day off in the middle of the season? Ha!

Jameis has the right attitude….the attitude I’ve said he has and should have. All the accolades and gloss mean nothing to him. it is about the drive to be the best he can be…mentally and physically.. to lead to a SB victory. He will earn the accolades and feel it deep in his gut. We will prove something no one can deny. From that perspective, we haven’t even made the playoffs yet, so time to work. It is about taking it….demanding respect….taking a backseat to no one in the league. There is no room for maybe’s, if’s, could be’s. And does anyone think Licht or Koetter sees it any differently regarding where we are and where we are going?

Happy 4th everyone. Be safe. Keep those fingers away from the heavy artillery. We all need them to type our comments on JBF.

The day after Winston was drafted he stated…
“The money?…the money’s for my family”
That told me all I needed to know about Jameis Winston. (A side I never saw)
Winning a SB is pretty much Winston’s number one goal. You can say that’s everyone’s goal, but this kid is different. His drive is so great that he won’t be denied. I believe this kid sets accomplishment goals for himself, and he never looks back. Learns from mistakes and moves on towards his goal. Couple that with the talent and the ability he has then you can start to imagine as a fan multiple SB’s for this kid.
That’s what I see in Jameis. He could have flashed his bling, but to him he has no bling….yet.

Good point. #3 is after the right kind of bling…a Super Bowl Ring!
Minnesota here we come!!!!

Joe: it was his day off!….and they talk about me having an Agenda!!!!
July 4th, 2017 at 2:53 pm
Unwritten rule in the NFL: starting quarterbacks don’t take a day off during the season, unless it’s a bye week.
Promise you Jameis doesn’t.
July 4th, 2017 at 4:15 pm
Talk about days off. Carson Wentz was hot until he went hunting on bye week. He sucked after that trip
July 4th, 2017 at 9:43 pm
Number 4 in the division number one in our hearts
July 4th, 2017 at 11:27 pm
Um, it was a stuffed animal and he was posing as Michael Jackson, not a porn star. But anyway, no one can argue against your point. And it’s so ridiculous it’s worth another look.
