The Barber Hug & Fan Loyalty
July 30th, 2017Gerald McCoy was making an impact off the field today at Day 3 of Buccaneers training camp.
It all started with a hug.
Joe didn’t see the hug in question, but two reputable sources — one media, one fan friend — told Joe about it, so Joe is going with it here.
McCoy came over to the media area on the north side of the practice fields and found an old friend, Bucs icon Ronde Barber. McCoy delivered a sweaty embrace, as if to say the recent comments from Barber that painted McCoy as a personality incapable of championship leadership didn’t happen.
Damn, Joe missed it. Anyway, Joe hopes the two are truly good with each other.
After practice, McCoy literally spent a full hour mingling with fans in attendance. Signing everything and talking and loving. Joe doesn’t recall every seeing a player stay that long. And at least for the final 15 minutes of the interaction, Joe didn’t see one Hard Knocks camera in the vicinity.

Past is the past, put it there big guy. Still a teddy bear off the field but be a mean mauling bear on it. Cant wait to see how he does at DE in some of those 3/4’s with Baker beside him and Ayers on the other side. Send Spence right around GMac and theres your sacks. I predict Spence will be our first since Rice to get over 10 this year. QB pressure will be on. Have Gholston eating up what gets past them.

if you think GMC is a mean mauling bear you must be terrified of Tinker Bell

I’d like to see tmax sacked by GMC….I’d pay money.

What Barber said is 100% true – and I’m a big GMC backer, but facts are facts, he’s not a leader, but who cares, the team has a leader already GMC just needs to do his job and not worry about being a leader, it’s not in his personality and that’s OK, it really is.

Im trying to encourage him tmax.

Joe…I’m not here to judge GM one way or the other. I just know he is well thought enough around the league to be voted to the Pro Bowl five consecutive years. Of course arm chair QB slobs and never have beens, when it comes to the NFL (some of us in life in general) are here to cut him down…with no constructive or apparent reason. I’m left to believe that they really aren’t Buc fans. Now yes, I was critical of Lovie Smith when he came in here… and a particular Rock Star GM, as well as Bruce Allen….but they have nice landing places and aren’t laying their safety and health on the line on a weekly basis. And a player that doesn’t do it right is worthy of criticism. But man…5 years Pro Bowl in a row? That is BS.

Of course, in the last sentence, I meant…”to criticize GM is BS”. You are the same guys that would say Paul Gruber was a poor tackle because he wasn’t vocal enough, or nasty enough, or enough of a leader.

Of course gmc hugged barber because there is no bad blood. Reporting it as such was purely speculation. To report that mccoy’s twitter rant was in response to barber was purely speculation. Just report the facts and not speculation. Mccoy could have been responding to a twitter troll for all we know. Tying barber’s name to it when mccoy did not specify is purely click bait.

@tmaxcon We all know you are an internet troll who gets excited at the idea of saying absurd things just to annoy people. Move along
