“He’s Mean. He’s Mean.”
June 14th, 2017It’s always fun when Joe asks a Buccaneer player a question and the guy responds with a query of his own.
Perhaps the most interesting time was in 2014, when Joe asked Logan Mankins whether he felt pretty good about his play through half that season, and whether it was representative of the kind of player he was in New England.
Mankins’ response was a question that may not be appropriate for a family website.
And then there was back in 2009, when Joe asked ex-Bucs defensive tackle Chris Hovan a question at local bar. Hovan fired back two questions? “You’re JoeBucsFan? How bout you go #%@^ yourself?” Hovan elaborated and explained that he didn’t like how Joe made fun of Hovan’s pregame face paint routine.
And that brings Joe to yesterday.
There’s been all this chatter among Buccaneers — officials and players — about the nastiness of guard J.R. Sweezy, who has yet to practice in pads with Tampa Bay.
In simple terms, Sweezy hasn’t hit anyone in Tampa in 15 months. So Joe’s been a bit obsessed with why/how everyone is so certain Sweezy is a tough guy.
Joe asked Donovan Smith about that yesterday. And Smith responded with a question. Thankfully, it was friendly and G-rated.
“Have you seen Sweezy? Do you see it?” Smith fired back at Joe.
No, Joe replied.
“No? He’s mean. He’s mean. He’s a fun guy, quiet, but on the field you see it.” Smith said of Sweezy.
Okay. Joe gets the message. Sweezy is a bad hombre. Perhaps he was the guy at the root of the recent practice skirmish?
Joe did more digging on Sweezy’s nasty streak and found a better answer than what Smith provided. Joe will type it up in the coming days.

At long last TMAX has a Buc he can root for!!! Now if Sweezy could just go barhopping and beat up a couple of women in the off season he would be TMAX’s all time favorite hero.

I hope Donovan is right about Sweezy. Hopefully some of that will rub off on the team.

Why do so many people react to Tmax? Let him do his shtick and why don’t the rest of us just ignore it? I have avoided commenting on his crap, but seriously some of you sound like you have wet dreams thinking about the guy. Let it go man, let it go. It’s seriously funny when people bring him up and he hasn’t even commented yet. Exactly what he wants. This is the first and last time I bring him up.

You can’t be a badass team without any badasses on it…..now we have Ayers, Sweezy & Miko. Other teams beware!!!
Oh….I forgot to throw in GMC…..

Describing Sweezy as ‘mean’ & being a ‘bad hombre’ & having a ‘nasty streak’ is AWESOME! Marpet seems to have a bit of that too, but I’ve never heard anyone describe Donovan Smith, Dotson or Pamphile in those terms (although they may each have a ‘nasty streak’ in them too). Hopefully having Ali & JR in the middle of our OLine this year prompts all of them to kick arse & take names.

When Sweezy and Marpet open up holes in pre-season for Martin Joe will, with a bit more rapid pace, confess of Martin deserving the no.1 spot as a running back in a Buc uniform!!!!

Love me some Hovan.

It is time to quit talking about this guy and see if his play can cash all these “mean” checks.

^ That! BOOM!!!! Me too Nosbos…..lets see some work!
Guys, I think a lot of them are gonna be mean and nasty the next 3 years.

StPete
I don’t care about mean. I care about WINNERS… NOT MENTALLY WEAK CAREER LOSERS like martin, gmc and dotson. i’ll give lvd a pass hopefully now that the team has leaders which it was lacking for better part of a decade his slow starts and giving up after a bad play or call are behind him.

Could someone please fill me in on this…
Our starting line – Dotson, Sweezy, Marpet, ?????, Smith.
WHO is taking over Marpets old position?

For a “family website” there sure are a lot of hooters. Not that I’m complaining, mind you.

David doesn’t want or need a pass from those that continually espouse moronic comments about our best players. He probably wouldn’t give you the time of day. Fans say something supportive most of the time, vice moronic , negative comments every time they open their traps.
