Remember Memorial Day

Joe read something over the weekend that we should never say or offer the following: “Happy Memorial Day.”
Why? It’s not meant to be a happy day.
Joe just loves the summer. No more coats. No more cold. And when women wear less and less clothing, there is no way in Joe’s eyes that is a bad thing.
It also helps that the summer is traditionally bookmarked by three-day weekends, with America’s birthday right smack dab in the middle.
If you are like Joe, at some point today you will throw raw meat on the grill and crack open a beer (or more). If you are fortunate, you are chasing quality tail at the beach. If so, Joe is envious.
So please take a moment to remember the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to allow us to guzzle beer, ingest mass quantities of meat and throw (digital) rocks at each other when discussing the Bucs.
Enjoy today but remember the heroes. As Joe’s old man, who was a naval officer in the Pacific theater in World War II, used to say, “Heroes didn’t come home.”

As a veteran who served from 97-2009 and did 1 tour in support of OEF, I can honestly say, don’t ever thank a veteran on Memorial Day, it tends to piss us off. Memorial Day is and always will be about those who gave everything fighting our nation’s wars. Thank a veteran on Veterans Day, and pay respects to our true heroes on Memorial Day. Wanna say thanks on Memorial Day? Go to your nearest National Cemetery and pay your respects there.

A few retired military veterans I have talked to have said the same thing to me.
They say it is a cynical type of thing akin to the person that only attends Church on Christmas and Easter.
They told me that if I really wanted to honor military veterans, I should foster a Reservists pet that is sent overseas.
He told me that giving away a pet to the pound b/c they can’t find anyone to take care of it while they are on a deployment is extremely gutwrenching.

As a proud veteran, I witnesses many die for this great country. Thats why I get a lirrle upset when I hear phrasology like, take our country back. The country has been here for centuries and will survive and thrive until the end of time because of the sacrifices of all who make up this country. Happy memorial day to all and tip your cups..to those who fought bravely throughout our history and never made it home. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Never served, but have a very deep respect for the military. For those that have I thank you from the bottom of my heart.It takes a lot of balls to go to another land and risking your life. Some don’t make it back. Lot’s actually. Have a fun Memorial Day everyone.

Remember all those people who fought for this country only to have Dumpster Fire Don take a big crap on the entire thing. Best way to honor the fallen – pray for impeachment.

The men and women who have served certainly didn’t fight to have an ignorant jackass with questionable allegiances tear it all down. On Memorial Day, talk of Trump impeachment is about the MOST patriotic thing I can imagine. He’s turning this country into a cesspool.
