Jameis No. 5 (!?)
May 31st, 2017Top five???!!!
Joe has a hunch we are all witnessing the early stages of the best Bucs quarterback in franchise history with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. entering his third NFL season.
But a top-five quarterback now? Joe wouldn’t go there yet, but that’s exactly what Patrick Daugherty of Rotoworld.com is preaching.
In his ranking of NFL quarterbacks for the 2017 season, Daugherty has Jameis at No. 5!
Jameis Winston, who just turned 23 in January, has already posted two 4,000-yard seasons. Not too shabby considering his skill corps has consisted of Mike Evans and … other players. Winston has been far from perfect, tossing 33 interceptions across his first 32 starts, but he improved across the board last season, guiding the Bucs to a 6-2 finish after both he and the team got off to a rough start. Winston has essentially done everything that could be reasonably ask of a No. 1 overall quarterback who came into the league at 21. Winston’s extreme youth and sophomore progression gives him an edge over similarly-accomplished young guns Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota, with the tiebreakers being Carr’s age (26) and Mariota’s injury history. Durable, cannon-armed and daring, Winston has the looks of a decade-plus answer at quarterback in Tampa.
Daugherty even ranked Jameis higher than Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Yeah, seriously!
If someone would have assured Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht the night he drafted Jameis that the Florida State product would be a top-five quarterback, Licht would have splurged for his staff to have such an epic booze-and-babes bash in Vegas they’d still be hungover to this day.
Given the history of signal-callers with the Bucs, this just seems like some twisted Dawson’s Creek episode. You know, where random hot chicks climb through your bedroom window in the middle of the night? Sort of an upgrade from pizza delivery.

See there’s the Fameis that we have seen, the one with limited weaponry. Then there’s the Fameis we will see next season, the one with a full arsenal to work with. You all will notice a difference. I’m good wit 5.. And rising.

The golden boy up there in NE can’t hold the scepter forever.

The article is about the best situations overall, not just this year. They aren’t saying he is a top 5 QB, but if the league were to re-draft all the players tomorrow that he would be 5th off the board due to age and upside etc.

I can’t wait to see Jameis with a full arsenal of weapons.
He has gotten away with forcing the ball to Evans for awhile, now he will not have to anymore.
If we also establish a running game, the NFL had best look out.
Go Bucs!

I want what he’s smoking.

You always have to flavor your articles with filth and perversion. Dawson’s Creek?
is that teenage girls your excited about Joe?
Do football fans a favor and keep it to yourself.

Again people, it’s about who you would draft now to have over the next decade. Drew Brees and Tom Brady are old…

El Beamo is on to something. It really depends on what question you’re asking.
1.) Which active QB’s have been the most successful heading into the season. Despite his 2 4,000 yard seasons for a record start…#3 is nowhere near the top 5 in terms of achievement but it’s only his third year.
2.) Which active QB would you want on your roster if you were putting it all on the line for this upcoming season. The debate grows interesting. I don’t know if I take Brady or Rodgers but I do believe #3 is easily in the top five of who I would take.
3.) Which QB is the best for your franchise for the next ten years. #3 is clearly in the top five in this category and for many of us he is #1.

Hey y’all I need some help please. I am trying to get tickets to the Giants game this year. Is Vivid seats the best place to get them from?
May 31st, 2017 at 11:13 am
@Joe and Mixx
Joe a money making idea….lots of posters here are from out of state or at least city and they frequently are looking for tickets and tailgate parties like Mixx.
You should hook up with a ticket seller and keep a spot here on JBF. Win-win-win You get ad dollars…ticket broker gets business…JBF poster have a place to score tickets. Should be an easy tech hookup.

(Ahem) Either someone isn’t reading JoeBucsFan.com or this is a really bad joke. 🙁

Yo
Well, if football fans want boring, AP style, take-a-snooze-coverage-when-there-is-no-media-availability stories, there are plenty of places to go to find such copy. When there is no siesta, that is.
Joe didn’t turn into the success he did by being boring. No intention of changing, either. Joe wants to be successful and make money.

I would take Jameis over any other QB in the League.
May 31st, 2017 at 12:11 pm
I’m no expert, but putting Dak Prescott outside the top ten seems like a travesty after what he did last year.
Andrew Luck should not be in the top 5 given what he has done lately. That;s pure reputations there.
So really, Winston should be at #4.
May 31st, 2017 at 12:14 pm
Then again, Winston really didn’t do well on his stats when compare to the rest of the league. In fact, he ranked like 47th out of 50 on his passing percentage.
May 31st, 2017 at 12:27 pm
If the article is about who would be the best QB for the next 10 years, then who the hell is 1-4? All the top dogs (Brady,Breese,Big Ben,Rogers) don’t have 10 years left.
May 31st, 2017 at 12:28 pm
Jameis at times looks like a top 5 qb then at times he looks like Jay Cutler 2.0 (see 24 turnovers in 16 games)
Here’s hoping in 2017 he puts it all together
May 31st, 2017 at 1:35 pm
OMG – there is light at the end of the tunnel. Tony is now qualifying his Winston criticism with tinges of praise… There’s hope for you yet Tony.

No Mike, Lee made a joke. You read into it what you wanted to.

For the FIRST time ever (allegedly) I will now be entering the restroom with Joe Bucs Fan in one hand and a towel in another!!! And this article just became my screensaver!! The season can’t get here soon enough!!!! GO BUCS!!!
May 31st, 2017 at 11:12 pm
Jameis would be the consensus #1 pick in all-player NFL draft imho
June 1st, 2017 at 7:15 am
jameis will be the premier QB in the league , in a short period of time, brady can’t last forever, nor can breese, nor can rivers, rodgers is getting up in age, alex smith is, well alex smith is who he is, bridgewater and mariota are fragile, cam newton is a bitch, bortles aint panning out in jville, matty ice has lost his cool, big ben is winding down, vegas will eat carr alive, that and constantly moving every three five years, who knows what you’ll get out of flacco, i want to be like mike, glennon aint no jordan, luck has not been to lucky lately, and the list goes on, i would not trade young jameis for any damn QB out there, as he said on record good ain’t good enough this man and his cast of payers, band of brothers, motly crew of misfits will own this leauge, the NFCS and threaten to be in the show, from this season untill jameis loses his mojo in about 15 18 years
