  1. Tampa Tony Says:

WR or TE, as the Bucs will be in the same position as last year if Jackson is hurt proving that Licht has learned nothing from last offseason. Can’t rely on injured players coming back

  2. Tampa Tony Says:

DeSean Jackson has missed at least 1 game in 6 of 9 NFL seasons and hasn’t played a full season in his last 3 years. Signing 1 receiver isn’t weapons for Winston

  3. DB55 Says:

    OT

Found myself watching week 17 vs Carolina. If you can watch the last 5-6 minutes of the fourth qrt, please do. We tried to run the ball and went no where.

Winston had a wide open Shep running across the end zone but got sacked (Dotson vs Addison) before he could throw.

Our offense will continue to be impotent unless we strengthen the oline.

What happens if Jameis gets hurt on a jailbreak blitz or even a three-man rush? I’m just saying without a healthy and confident Jameis we won’t win more than 4 games. No RB, TE, Safety or WR is going to change that.

Don’t even have to draft a OT I’ll gladly trade for one, a good one.

  4. Tampabayucfan Says:

I chose TE because I think we need another one…..it seems to me that there will be some great WR, RB available in later rounds.

Whatever, I’ll just be happy when this $hit is over……it is mind-numbing to have multiple potential candidates trotted out every day knowing that we will only get our shot at one or two.

  5. Evan Says:

I voted for RB, but I am not opposed to the possibility of a good DE or WR.

  6. Hecticbuc Says:

Wr will be the pick and it will be zay jones another wr in the later rounds also.

  7. Yungry Says:

Don’t worry everyone Yungry is back—Let the real draft talk begin now… I’ll be answering questions today until 2pm…

  8. Lord Cornelius Says:

BPA should be an option because that’s what I’d pick.

  9. BadHombre Says:

DB55 has it right. We need to protect JW3 better. While an offensive linemen isn’t a sexy pick, it would benefit us more than a WR/RB. If a legit DE is there at 19, I’d take that, but I don’t think one will be.

  10. Rob Says:

    Agree bad

  11. DB55 Says:

Welp! So much for Louis murphys “comeback”. Just got arrested for carrying a loaded weapon into the airport without a license. These guys went to college right?

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

DB55 you argument is valid. But we gots lotsa needs. OL is my 2nd choice. I’m stickin with DE as my first. If you got a great pass rush? That solves a lotta problems. Just seems like to me, when we get that pass rush, our whole team plays inspirational ball. And we need more pass rush. My 3 pick is RB followed by a TE.

  13. Dubcity06 Says:

Its not about the position but about the player available at that position.
That being said.. no RB please

  14. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    BPA.

  15. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

No WR in the first. We really do not need that as a priority.

The more I think about it, I would like:

    1- RB
    2- Safety
    3- DE
    4- RB
    5-7 BPA

RBs are Cook and James Conner.

  16. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Also the fact that OT isn’t an option is pretty sad.

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

A center in round 5 would be nice too.

  18. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’ve come to accept that we will not be able to address all the positions of need. So that first pick takes on a whole new light.

We could go RB. We could go Safety. OT. Center (a first round center for a change would be awesome and hopefully give us a 14 year solidity there).

  19. DB55 Says:

    Blake

Why is it not an option. At least 1 of the top 3 OTs should be available at 19.

    Ramczyk, Bolles or Robinson.

  20. Brett Says:

If the Bucs want to win this year, they need a reliable RB. Sure, some 5th round picks work out, but I wouldn’t pin my hopes that your 5th round RB is a guaranteed star in the league.

  21. Joseph Mamma Says:

What no Kicker option? Or would that be under the other option?

  22. Gencoimports Says:

WR, TE or DE. I will be disgusted if the Bucs draft a RB or S in the first round.

I also would like to see the OL addressed but also not in round 1.

Ideally, I want them to draft down and pick up an extra 2nd round pick. It’s such a deep draft.

  23. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    @DB55

I meant that it wasn’t an option on the poll. I would be very happy with Garrett Bolles or Forrest Lamp at 19. I say Lamp because I’m fairly certain that he can play RT.

  24. Lord Cornelius Says:

I don’t want any of these OTs personally but maybe I’ll be proven wrong..

Ramcyk – medical concerns (moreso than Cook so if anyone is making that argument for Cook cross this guy off the board)

Bolles – is already 25 years old or an entire 3-4 year contract worth of life older than most R1 picks

Robinson – looks like a G and seems to have a sh1t attitude.

  25. Lord Cornelius Says:

I could live with Lamp but he’s projected as a G not OT. We have so many guards already that I doubt we go there unless we see him as an OT (which is possible since most people saw Donavon Smith as a G and he was selected to play LT).

I think they’d rather do their youth and shuffle experiment tho and if they find out that Dotson/Benecoch/ or Pamphile cannot be good enough to be RTs or that D Smith could be upgraded then that will be a priority in the 2018 draft which will have much better OTs..

  26. KW Buc Says:

This year pick a soild DT, so in 2018 we can cut McCoy and his $13M off the cap. OL in the 2nd

OL — every draft we should pick one in the 1st or 2nd.

Its the heart of any great team. Tons and tons of skill players are available every year but having the TIME to use them is the key.

Control the LOS and give JW time & the offense will roll up points.

  27. Blake_bucsfan Says:

@Lord C agree with you 100 percent on Robinson, Ramczyk is little worrisome because of the hip and that he only played 1 season.

But I don’t Agree with you on Bolles, he still has a ton of tread on the tires seeing that he started football pretty late in life, and that Olinemen tend to stick around for a while. That plus Andrew Whitworth was drafted at 24 and he is still going strong at 35.

  28. Blake_bucsfan Says:

And Brandon Schreff was a LT in college projected to play guard, but he seems to being doing pretty good for the Skins at RT.

    So the precedent is there.

  29. DB55 Says:

Whatever works just protect The Messiah.

  30. DB55 Says:

My biggest fear is Jameis turning into Andrew Luck bc we can’t protect him.

  31. Blake_bucsfan Says:

A legitimate fear to have DB. One can only hope that the top dogs at One Buc Place have that fear too.

  32. Joeypoppems Says:

I voted I don’t know. The depth of this draft happens to be at just about every position of need, I don’t see any of the 1st round guys as a “must have”. OT makes sense but I dont think that will happen.

  33. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

    OT is the need

  34. Trubucfan22 Says:

Should have included o lineman. O line or d line with EVERY first round pick, imo.

Since TE is an extension of the o line, i picked TE. A solid blocking TE That can catch is a huge bonus for both our run and passing game.

  35. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

I don’t know. Because if dalvin is there then I say rb. If OJ is there then it te. If Davis or Williams is there then it’s wr. Let the draft come to us. Just don’t take any of these GARBAGE O lineman

  36. Alstott up the gut Says:

I officially don’t want Ross in the first…. he’s too Heyward-Bey to me. Get me an RB or almost anything defense in the first and Cooper Krupp in the second…. he’s too Edelman to me!

  37. Pickgrin Says:

I didn’t even vote because its a dumb question. We are drafting at 19. Nobody knows who will be available. The preference of who to take depends on the players available – not the position.

If Cook is available at 19 I want a RB. If OJ Howard is available at 19 I want a TE. If Corey Davis is available at 19 I want a WR. If Derek Barnett is available at 19 I want a DE. If either Adams or Hooker is available at 19 I want a Safety.

None of these players are likely to be on the board at 19 though so we just have to let it all play out and trust our GM to make the best possible selection when our turn finally comes. What I DON’T want to do is trade up for a RB in the 1st round. That I DO know.

  38. rayjay1122 Says:

This was a tough decision for me and really it will all come down to who is on the board when we pick. I selected WR and that is only because Flash Jackson or ME13 could easily get injured and I do not want us to be in the same position as last season with a sub par WR which allows teams to roll coverage against whoever is on the field that poses the biggest threat.

So a very good WR to use in certain situations or if one of the starters goes down to an injury, having a starting caliber WR to step in is not a luxury but more of an insurance policy.

I do think we can get a good RB in the 2nd round then after that i think we should go DE or Safety. I also think TE and OT should be addressed.

  39. USFBUC Says:

The poll should have had a “best value” option. I don’t want the Bucs locked in to RB or TE if Jamal Adams is available.

  40. Tampa Tony Says:

Last super bowl champ to draft a RB in the first was the Saints, nuff said

  41. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

    BPA

  42. JayBucBoi Says:

There should be an option for “whatever Licht chooses” Joe.

  43. JayBucBoi Says:

“Other” and “I don’t know” is not specific enough.

  44. Colin Says:

Only bad teams draft tight end or running back in the first round. It makes no sense. Successful franchises (with a QB) draft defensive lineman, defensive backs and offensive lineman with their first round picks. The patriots havnt drafted a ball carrier in the first round since lawerence maroney in 2006. Lets follow what the top teams do. Thats because OL, DL and DBs that are good are all paid over 10 mil a season now. So you need to get them in the draft.

  45. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Well I would pick, we’ll I would take and we should and we need and what if and you gotta love it!

  46. Jeremy Says:

Yes, please for the love of god GM do not listen to JOE about the draft. Joe, I love your blog, daily reader for years, but I want to curse you out every year around draft time (except the year we drafted Jameis).

Am I the only person who thinks we should grab an OT number 1??? Tackle didn’t even make the poll

  47. JameisDungy Says:

If Licht doesn’t add more weapons then he truly hasn’t learned his lesson.

Jackson may miss 1 to 3 games being nicked. Stuff like that can cost us the playoffs.

Need another TE and WR in this draft..

  48. SCBucsFan Says:

I can’t believe how many people want an RB. Must be FSU homers. Trade back and draft a Safety. Otherwise BPA besides QB.

  49. Amar Says:

Do Bucs fans ever learn? Majority voted running back, wow what a waste. You guys will never learn will ya…sheesh.

I voted other, for OL, Jameis needs protection. That line isn’t even average.
