New Return Man?
April 28th, 2017Joe is troubled reading about and hearing about new safety Justin Evans’ lack of wrapping up on tackles, which drives Joe just up a wall and down. It may be Joe’s biggest pet peeve this side of warm beer.
However, the Bucs may have found the answer to their dreadful kick return team.
This Evans was fantastic as a return man. Last season for the Aggies, the Bucs’ new second-round pick averaged 28.5 yards a kick return, 15 returns for 428 yards. Not too shabby at all. By comparison, the Bucs averaged a lousy 14.6 per kick return, worst in the NFL.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:30 pm
also had a kickoff return for td
April 28th, 2017 at 9:32 pm
Don’t know much about this guy. Was this really a “safe” pick?
April 28th, 2017 at 9:34 pm
It felt like a big reach!
April 28th, 2017 at 9:34 pm
Average
Jason reached
April 28th, 2017 at 9:35 pm
Never heard this guy mentioned. I really have no idea about this pick, it could be total boom or bust and I wouldn’t see it coming. Don’t get why we would draft someone like that this early
April 28th, 2017 at 9:36 pm
2nd rounder on a kick returner? Hope he can play safety as well. Surprised we passed on Willis and Walker for this guy.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:36 pm
Evans can miss a tackle and give up a touchdown, then receive the kick and take it to the house. Perfect fit.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:36 pm
Jason panicked when the RBs went. SAD!
April 28th, 2017 at 9:37 pm
Athletic HARD hitting safety. Slight reach, but a “Safer” pick then Obi bust.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:37 pm
If he is going to be the starting FS I dont want to see him on special teams at all.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:37 pm
Oh my Licht is at the end of the day an average at best talent evaluator with serious issues making pressure picks. What a sht show
April 28th, 2017 at 9:38 pm
Joe is being overly negative. If you r worried about the pick, go check out what scouts are saying about him
April 28th, 2017 at 9:39 pm
Guys this is NOT a drill!!! Lance Zerlein literally says in Evans’ bio on NFL.com that he is “soft spoken, but carries a walloping stick.”
This sounds like our kind of dude, fellas!!!πππ
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/justin-evans?id=2557945
You can use this for an article Joe, I wouldn’t be mad!
April 28th, 2017 at 9:39 pm
An instant upgrade to what we’re currently working with at safety, just don’t know how much that is really sayin though π€
April 28th, 2017 at 9:39 pm
Well Walter has him at a 4.5 40 but someone said that was on a bad hammy and he’s actually quite fast as in 4.4.
Let’s hope because the Panthers just loaded up with some lightning…two of the fastest prospects in the draft…McCaffery and super fast Curtis Samuel. We’ll need some speed to match up against these guys!!!
Although again I’d like to stop them at the origin right after the snap. I’d like a disruptive DL…why I would have preferred Walker. Then again maybe Smitty really values the safety position…perhaps even more than others in the league.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:39 pm
Whole bunch of whiny babies
April 28th, 2017 at 9:40 pm
“Safe” Licht = I hate my bobbleheaded testicleless life
At Tampa’s expense
April 28th, 2017 at 9:40 pm
His rating per nfl was 5.82
last year falcons first round Keanu Neal=5.88
sounds like good value
April 28th, 2017 at 9:41 pm
HOLY HECK Mike Evans GOAT IS THE REAL MIKE EVANS
WHAT UP MIKE!
April 28th, 2017 at 9:41 pm
Walter gave us a B grade for the pick. Judging by his tape, the kid should play on our Fg blocking unit as well.
Needs some coaching, but hopefully he will work out for us.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:42 pm
You said it GOAT. And you nailed it.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:42 pm
His junior highlights show him using his shoulder mostly to blast guys. Went high a lot leading with his head. His senior highlights show far more wrap ups plus good hands on a couple picks. Mostly though, he flies to the ball and through the ball carrier. Teach him to tackle and he’s gonna be a monster. Great nickname too – the Eraser!
April 28th, 2017 at 9:43 pm
Dude sounds and looks(tape) like a flag magnet.

Bucs selected Texas A&M S Justin Evans with the No. 50 overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft.
Evans (6β0/199) spent his junior and senior seasons in College Station after transferring from community college, starting both years and tallying six tackles for loss with five interceptions. SEC coaches voted him second-team all-conference in 2016. Evans also played special teams, averaging an impressive 28.5 yards per kick return as a senior. Physical with plus ball skills, Evans flashed combination free-strong safety ability with outstanding range on tape. He is a springy athlete with a 41 Β½-inch vertical and 10-foot-9 broad jump. Evansβ main flaw is a tendency to miss tackles due to over-aggressiveness. Regardless, he is an upside prospect in the D.J. Swearinger mold
April 28th, 2017 at 9:43 pm
We had a hard hitting safety…his name was Goldson. Flag machine.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:44 pm
Evans is a hitter. Will look good in a BUCS uni. Too much saltiness about Cook
April 28th, 2017 at 9:44 pm
His comp is Karl Joseph and as I recall people where whining that we should draft him.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:47 pm
Better find that rb in the 3rd unless you know something about “good” Dougie coming back for us.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:49 pm
You can teach tackling – I’m not to worried about that. The kid apparently has much better speed than what he tested and lead the team in INTs last season – and he hits hard. Sounds like he goes for big plays rather than making solid plays, but assuming he’s not a dunce you can teach him up.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:50 pm
@87…… I was thinking the same thing. Flag magnet.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:51 pm
last year Saints second rounder Vonn Bell 5.69
this kid=5.82
he sounds very athletic and passionate, looking to lay the wood, just misses sometimes. good ball skills–4 interceptions
not perfect but good
April 28th, 2017 at 9:52 pm
ESPN let me down mightly. No highlights of this kid. I hope he is a heavy hitter like I was asking for earlier. Joe if you could be so kind as to post some clips it would be much appreciated.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:54 pm
JimmyJack, there are clips on an earlier Joe post.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:55 pm
Jason Licht does not deserve credit for obvious fall in your lap decisions. This guy is an absolute train wreck with Tampa franchise capital.
April 28th, 2017 at 9:57 pm
Dallus, do you realize how irrational you sound right now, we got O.J. Howard in the first round, we’re 2 picks in, and we won’t truly know anything until the games are played.
Hold you’re horses my dude. You were doing so well.
Just rip on Nosbos again to blow off some steam. Lol I kid.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:00 pm
dallas your drunk
April 28th, 2017 at 10:01 pm
He was my gav 2nd round safety.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:01 pm
I didn’t see any flags on his highlights. The hustle is there, a fierce hitter, what’s not to like about his potential. This guy will be good.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:02 pm
draftanalyst.com had us taking him at 50. haha
April 28th, 2017 at 10:02 pm
DallasBuc literally knows nothing. What an asshat.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:02 pm
I thought we had bad tackling covered.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:04 pm
Not okay Blake. This is typical sht from the guy that has to act like the smartest guy in the room but doesn’t know that everyone is aware. And in this case everyone is aware this dude is still available next round or tomorrow.
Licht does not get credit for easy picks, sorry. No credit for filling in the bubble with a No.2 pencil. Sht is unreasonably repetitive and shtty.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:06 pm
Interesting because he was a projected 2nd or 3rd round pick. Once again, DallasBuc know nothing.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:07 pm
I half expect him to draft AguaOh,no again thinking in 2017 he might kick better. Rest of the GMs are enjoying his wheeling and dealing!
April 28th, 2017 at 10:08 pm
On top of that Dallas Downer the highlights of this kid are impressive. Looks like a thumper that flies to the ball. I will trust the scouts and guys that get paid to do this over the most miserable fan in America who just spouts hatred at all times.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:08 pm
Pups he really be worse than Chris Conte
Give em a chance
April 28th, 2017 at 10:09 pm
Chris Sims and crew love this pick on B/R
April 28th, 2017 at 10:10 pm
Okay
So my first comment is a typo
“Could” he really be worse than Chris Conte
April 28th, 2017 at 10:10 pm
Jaboo, why exactly is it that interesting as a slight on me that in a sliding draft this player is better at mid 2 than mid 3 given your own base argument?
April 28th, 2017 at 10:12 pm
Aww, now I’m just not positive enough for the fanboys tonight. No one accused me of that last night. Must be the climate
April 28th, 2017 at 10:12 pm
You are ridiculous DB… jesus H
April 28th, 2017 at 10:12 pm
getting close
April 28th, 2017 at 10:13 pm
Oh, well Chris Simms thinks so…
April 28th, 2017 at 10:16 pm
My base argument is that you’re a troll who’s got a boner for Jason Licht. Give it up clown. Why should anyone take you seriously? Again, we are all sorry Jason never called you after wearing that ass out but get over it.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:17 pm
Holy sht with a catbird seat in round 2 we literally decide that we are not good enough to compete this year in front of the nation, our fans and the coaches and players. Smartest guy in the room …
April 28th, 2017 at 10:18 pm
Apparently, Jason Licht f**ked DallasBuc’s wife. The only thing that could explain this high level of irrational contempt.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:18 pm
Did you watch the video it was pretty good ! Just looking for positivity!like you know who’s good or not anyway I forgot your a nfl can’t miss scout lmao
April 28th, 2017 at 10:19 pm
I hope that Chris Godwin is still available when we pick.
Yeah, Im SALTY that the Bengals got Joe Mixon. With that passing game the Bengals just moved past the 1st Rd of the playoffs.
Before I forget, NO OBI..??
Ok, I guess we shouldn’t expect any “coaching-up” of the secondary.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:19 pm
No. This moves Joe and most of us wrong. DM is our guy this coming season. Clear. Doug is our back.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:19 pm
Sorry. This draft proves dm is our back this year.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:20 pm
Jaboo has one silly written narrative that he escapes to, repleat with ghay romance for the GM cause that’s the best football argument at all times, right?
Jaboo is an easy road kinda guy. Not football so much
April 28th, 2017 at 10:23 pm
He was an average returner that’s not his strength please stop torturing fans that believe your poor assessments on players and talent, you get people excited over nothing.. This is not the guy that will change Tampa being the worst in the nfl in that area.
15 returns in a college season doesn’t really sound like a full time gig, that’s not nearly enough to call him fantastic
April 28th, 2017 at 10:26 pm
Stop lying out loud people and stop being happy with mediocre bulshht. You are all beaten dogs. We aren’t the Patriots or the Packers and never will be with guys Like Jason Licht who is more about his ego than Tampa. Stop kidding yourselves.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:26 pm
Interesting reply since you never come correct with any football knowledge. Just venom towards the GM which is why you’re just a troll. Fine to criticize if you bring some substance. My narrative is no more silly and makes as much since as yours given the lack of alternative information. Suck it troll.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:30 pm
Tampa fans are more excited about a savior and a slowly elusive tiny bit of national attention than they are about being great. Bobbleheaded Jason Licht knows this and knows the elasticity in your weak patience. He is using this fanbase horribly
April 28th, 2017 at 10:35 pm
If only I’d just be a popular fanboy. That way I don’t have to take all the pain from you heavies!?
April 28th, 2017 at 10:36 pm
Chris Godwin.
I am wrong.
All is forgiven.
April 28th, 2017 at 10:38 pm
^^. Twit
April 28th, 2017 at 10:51 pm
This makes no sense
April 28th, 2017 at 10:59 pm
I was wrong about this kids I’m glad he’s a Buc. Straight thumper!
April 28th, 2017 at 11:01 pm
^^Twit
Makes zero sense, really
April 29th, 2017 at 1:24 pm
The Lindy’s Draft Guide had him as 3rd or 4th round so a bad overreach. They also talked about his missed tackles and called him a high hard hitter. They did say he had good range in his coverage. If he doesn’t quit the high hits he will be a poor imitation of Goldson and a real flag machine. Throw in the injury that has slowed his 40 time and this is another waste of a second pick just like Licht has done the last two drafts. Hopefully he can contribute on special teams. Licht needs to be put on probation for these poor draft picks. Half the posters here could have pulled in a better class in this draft.
