No, no, no, the Bucs didn’t miss the playoffs because big-game December pressure in New Orleans and Dallas got to them.
That’s the fresh word from winning Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter, who went into detail on that subject at the NFL Owners Meetings in Phoenix last month.
Joe’s microphone captured the full audio, available for you above.
In short, Koetter explained the Saints and Cowboys just flat out beat the Bucs because they were better. When the Bucs report back to work on Monday — yes, Monday! — those losses will help craft the head coach’s early message.
“That just magnifies for our team, and what I’ll hit the team on when we get back is, they all matter. Whether it’s Week 1 or Week 15. They all matter. They all matter,” Koetter said.

Incidentally our oline got their teeth kicked in down that same closing stretch. They are as much to blame as anyone but coach K would never publicly admit that

That is a fact Dallas. I remember the Cowboys owning us in the trenches.
Another reason to BUILD this team and pass on the shiny toys.
I believe Licht will do just that.
Go Bucs!

Didn’t think before the Cowboys and that final Saints game were played that the Bucs were going to win. In the end both losses came to more pumped up teams.

I didn’t expect to beat Dallas either, but we got stomped in the trenches.
I’d watch it again if it wouldn’t make me sick. We looked scared.

Guys we all here you on the oline but use common sense. Licht drafted our left tackle and projected center in the 2nd round. Not going to replace them. He signed our projected right guard to big money in free agency. Not going to replace him. He signed our right tackle to a 3 year extension just a year ago. Not going to replace him. He drafted our left guard a few years ago and is proud of his growth and flexibility. Not going to replace him. He also signed our backup center twice. So why would Licht draft a o lineman in the first round when the entire line is made up of guys he already himself selected? On the d line he signed Ayers,

I was referring to DL as well.
I want a DE in the 1st round.

Is there an echo in here? in here?

We forget that it was gosder who was getting rag dolled against Dallas not Dotson
I’m not saying Dotson is the answer but he allows us another year or two before we need to stress. History proves you don’t need o line early in the draft and a gem can be found late. Almost more than any other position…except rb 😉 am I right nos
I’m just messing with you Sasquatch..but seriously

That Irvin kat single handedly….or almost singke handedly won that game by wooping up on cheruils or however its spelled. And that dude was picked up off KCs practice squad. Dotson was out that game and had he played it would have been record holding penalties on him. Needs fixing!

A Running game would have helped in those games
And yes, Rt is definitely the weak spot in the Line
But the overview of those games- was that we only had Evans and some no names at WR.
They doubled teamed Evans every play, and threw 8, sometimes 9 in the box.
You make a team one dimensional, and you will make them look helpless.
Thats why we added Desean, and better add a high pick WR in this draft!!
A couple 30 yard completions, and that strong safety will get his butt outta thebox- and will park it in midfield!
Gotta see the big picture

Couldnt agree more with Captain Tim, adding another early wr is a must. Once the defenses are forced to play back, our running game will improve drastically. As of now they are one injiry away from disaster. I think they will take a rb but mid to late rounds, but no way with the first pick. I think its going to be DE, WR,SAFTEY, RB in that order, then who knows after that

Jameis is running for his life and getting hit for a reason. The dancing bear is dancing for a reason. Martin is getting caught behind the line for a reason. Now most of us saw the reason. And the 2015 and 2016 line was not the same line.
But the defense needs a DE that can get to the QB or history is going to keep repeating itself. Easy 3 or 4 to 1st down conversions. And the offense will be kept off the field. So My 2 cents says DE in the first.

Despite the Dallas beat down we still had a reasonable opportunity to steal the win in the fourth quarter

The offensive play calling last year was horrendous – Dirk needs to figure out what the problem was and get it fixed. I suspect it might have been as simple as he was head coach and didn’t have the time to dedicate to the offense that he had the prior season – which was one of the reasons a lot of people were against getting rid of Lovie and not letting Dirk have another year solely focusing on Jameis and the offensive. The other issue could be that Dirk wasn’t seeing the game as well since he moved from the booth to the sideline. In either case Dirk needs to get him a trusted set of eyes and someone to scream in his ear when he calls the same plays over and over and over again in the same situation. If a fan at home can successfully predict what the Bucs are running – not just run pass but direction of the play, who the primary read is, etc – then just think what a highly paid defensive coordinator is doing.
I think, hope, Dirk has a major bounceback on his play calling but it is concerning when you look at his track record in Jacksonville and Atlanta – his early years in both were his best years as far as offensive ranking goes.

Munch- when the oline is getting savaged on every run play and Winston is running for his life to get a pass off it’s a little tough to call a good game from an Xs and Os standpoint. Plays are predicated on the oline holding up at the point of attack and instead they were getting knocked off the ball, knocked back and knocked up by opposing defenses. Word is that Donovan Smith is still going through with the pregnancy. So brave.

Last year is over people get over it. The Bucs were not a playoff team in anyway at all. And this year with the schedule doesn’t look any better. So get used to being a.500 team at best this year.

Rt in 3rd or forest in first i think florida state kidd will be there oline is needed

All you guys are crazy if you think Coach K is gonna draft a O Line or D Lineman in the first round
April 16th, 2017 at 3:08 pm
IMO the Bucs need to get bigger and stronger at O line and D line. As much as EVERYONE wants a RB first rd it would be wise to trade down and get one of the BEST O lineman in the draft! I was a RB in Collage and WHAT a difference it was to hit a bigger hole and get to the second level.

At least GMC had a career game vs Dallas. There is always a silver lining.
