Joe Mixon Comes To Tampa

April 7th, 2017

Yes, the Bucs appear to have danced with the Oklahoma running back many consider to be the devil himself — in Tampa.

Oh, the horror of talking to the young man who sickeningly belted a young woman in the face a few years ago.

NFL Network insider Mike Garofolo says Joe Mixon visited the Bucs this week.

Joe doesn’t want to see the Bucs draft Mixon, as Joe has written, but Joe has no problem with the team deeply investigating. And if he his drafted, Joe will give Mixon a clean slate.

Remember, Joe asked Team Glazer last week about drafting players with controversial pasts.

Here was Joel Glazer’s verbatim response:

Joel Glazer: Every situation is different, and you gotta look at the situation. There’s not just one cookie-cutter situation on people. You gotta understand the circumstances, you gotta dig into the circumstances, you gotta really understand. Because a lot of times there’s just a headline. And there’s a lot more beneath the headline, and there are situations where you just may not want that coming into the team and being part of the organization. So there’s not one approach. We keep an open mind on everything, on every situation. But ultimately, it’s important to have a lot of work done, a lot of background work, and really understand the person, the situation. We’re big believers in forgiveness; you can’t just make one mistake and that’s it, you’re done for life. So we keep an open mind on these things, but a lot goes into the decision.

As for Mixon, Joe’s big question is why, if he’s so amazing, did he split carries with fellow Sooners running back Samaje Perine, Oklahoma’s all-time leading rusher, who also is in this month’s draft?

The Dolphins drafted Ronnie Brown ahead of Cadilac Williams, both who split carries at Auburn. Did you question the drafting of Williams so high in the first round because he split carries with Brown?

  2. Steven007 Says:

Not sure exactly where it’s mentioned that he is so amazing. He’s just a talent along with the other talents at running back this year. I think Perine establish himself during Nixon’s absence therefore the coaching staff probably thought it best to split carries which they did with great success. The Bucs brass just seems to be doing their due diligence here.

  3. DB55 Says:

Winston and Mixon in the same background? Somebody somewhere will have a heart attack.

  4. DB55 Says:

Oh just look at his highlight tape. Amazing doesn’t begin to cover it.

  5. Blake_bucsfan Says:

The reason he split carries with Perine is simple. In the year he was suspended, Perine established himself as a force, and was far too good of a player to just sit on the bench upon Mixon returning.

There is absolutely no question about who is the better all around player. Joe Mixon screams Le’veon Bell on tape. Both in his patient, explosive running style, and his ability to line up anywhere and be a playmaker.

This kid routinely makes defenders miss, he see’s the hole before its there, he runs with attitude and power, he makes spectacular catches down the field, and he can breal the long run.

He is the complete package. And would be an incredible addition to this team on the field.

  6. Guzzie Says:

Joe….why would Oklahoma choose to have Mixon split carries with a back that had two straight 1000 yard seasons, and had the most yards in a game in NCAA history, really dude? Perine is a really good back, projected as high as the 3rd round, do you even know who had the better season between Mixon and Perine? Mixon had over 200 yards more, much better YPC, on film looks like a beast, and only CMac is on par with Mixon in the passing game! Combine that with a 6’1 228 body and 4.43 speed, plus no injuries, find me one back in this draft that is a better prospect! Fournette has receiving questions, Cook has agility, size, injury concerns, ball security and questionable character, and CMac has size issues, Kamara (4.56) and Hunt (4.62) have speed concerns, Foreman has receiving and ball security concerns….Mixon is a top 10 talent, no question, of course the Bucs are going to get more information, Mixon could be our Leveon Bell/ Edgerrin James, final championship piece, if the Bucs are ok with his character then “Bring the Rings” baby

  7. Blake_bucsfan Says:

*break* the long run. If the only addition you make to the site in 2017 is a n edit button, I would be satisfied.

  8. Guzzie Says:

The Bucs meeting Mixon is the best news of the week, by far, it’s been crickets on whether the Bucs had any interest

  9. DBS Says:

    1. He is not the coach so it is not his offense to decide how it is run.
    2. Who cares what you or anyone else thinks. It’s not your team. You don’t own it.

  10. ndog Says:

Blake I am just amazed that you like this guy so much more than Cook. I just wonder what tape you are watching. No need to respond as I know what you will say and that’s fine but I just don’t get it.

  11. Picaroon45 Says:

HoF Eric Dickerson split carries with Craig James (4th overall pick of the USFL) as part of SMU’s Pony Express. Splitting carries in college ruins a RB’s future.

  12. DallasBuc Says:

    Make Mixon a Buc
    Go Bucs!

  13. Blake_bucsfan Says:

It’s easy Ndog, I’m not a seminoles homer.

  14. PhillyBucsFan Says:

🤔 interesting…. Davis or Njoku in the 1st then Mixon in the 2nd?… not too shabby

  15. DallasBuc Says:

    1st DE
    2nd WR
    3rd Mixon
4th-7th Licht trades up for a short stop

  16. Doit Bucs Says:

I trust in the team investigation. If they believe in him I will too. I been blessed to get a second chance in life. I do not know of any body that has not gotten a second chance with something in there life.

  17. ndog Says:

I just watched his highlights and in a 8 minute reel he had exactly 1 broken tackle. You talk about running through open lanes yeah he ran through open holes the size a truck could run through. His balance when making cuts is great but when contacted he goes down easy, unless it’s a girl hitting him of course.

  18. uckinator Says:

Guzzie – Thank you for your analysis. Very enlightening. I’ve changed my mind on Mixon.

  19. macabee Says:

I carry no Mixon flag. I am proud of the Bucs FO for carrying out it’s mission without bias. They are doing what good teams do evaluate players to see if the player fits your criteria – nothing less, nothing more. They’re allowed 30 visits, there are 7 draft picks. The goal must be to pick the best 7 for them. Obviously most visits are just that – visits.

  20. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Blake you said it all with your first post. Just a stronger more solid all around rb we could really use. Anyone with a problem with us picking him. If we can elect our first Russian president who is an admitted sexual assaulter of women then you got no room to sit on your mighty high horse. I mean you must be high.

  21. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Im curious as to what highlight reel you watched Ndog. Because if you’ve seen this one…

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l1PkiOroeZE

And that’s what you came away with, then you must be very drunk. Or very blinded by fsu tinted lenses.

  22. LUVMYBUCS Says:

As for Mixon, Joe’s big question is why, if he’s so amazing, did he split carries with fellow Sooners running back Samaje Perine, Oklahoma’s all-time leading rusher, who also is in this month’s draft?

That’s a very Binary way of thinking Joe.

So with that logic the following running backs must be – hot garbage.

    • *Eric Dickerson > Craig James
    • *Marcus Allen >Charles White
    • *Barry Sanders >Thurman Thomas
    • *Jerome Bettis> Reggie Brooks
    • *Marshall Faulk >Wayne Pittman ← Michael Pittmans brother

Perine was the power back/great blocker in pass pro
Mixon was the scat back/home run threat.
Solid 1-2 punch, for a balanced offensive attack

  23. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

What a strange world ? Ray Rice punches a girl, who later becomes his wife, and loses his career.
But Joe Mixon hits a girl in the face, and only gets a suspension.

  24. DallasBuc Says:

    JoeAgendaFan

  25. Jason Says:

I don’t think he’ll be there in the third, I’d grab him in the second. This kid is special, and if he passes the vetting I’d love to have him.

  26. Buc Fan in NC Says:

Man this news made my day. If we could land this kid in 2nd rnd that would make our draft a success even if we drafted a punter in the 3rd and another kicker in the 4th

  27. DallasBuc Says:

Chris- what is the strange part again? Ray Rice was a pro whose crime was caught on video whereas had it only been police blotter he would still be in the league.
Mixon on the other hand was 18 in college and the coach/University decided not to turn their back on him.
He, just like Rice, are not all one thing. We are not simply the result of one bad decision

  28. Stu Says:

    NFW!!!!!!!!

  29. Steven007 Says:

I’m With You Blake. It’s his patience that separates him from cook. Obviously cook is talented. But I challenge anyone to Google Dalvin cook plus baggage and see what comes up. Yes there’s no video. But there’s plenty of other questionable activity. He’s definitely no saint. And Mixon is talented and much better value for where you would get him.

  30. ndog Says:

Blake you can say what you want but watching their highlights Cook breaks 2 to 3 times as many tackles as that guy and it isn’t even close. And Cook is doing it against Clemson, Florida and Michigan whereas you boy is doing it against Texas Tech, Houston, and Baylor. He did have one run against Ohio State so your right he must be unstoppable. Time will tell as always.

  31. BigHogHaynes Says:

I love MIXON and I don’t think he will be there in the 2nd round…take him with our first round pick…he is that damn good! Thanks to all posters on this blog…I see we have people who believe in 2nd chances! GO BUCS!!

  32. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Mixon reminds me of Curt Warner.

  33. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Yo, even though it “looks like” – he’s moving in slow motion
    This brotha could float.

  34. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

    @DallasBuc
I totally agree, and what happened between Ray Rice and his then girlfriend, who later became his wife, is none of our business, IMHO.
    Everyone deserves a second chance.
If the girl who Ray Rice punched has forgiven him, then why can’t we ?

I am all for Joe Mixon too, he is an amazing back!

  35. Buccaneer scotty Says:

    Peppers 19 Mixon 50

  36. Jim Says:

Heck yes…trade down a few spots in first..get a extra 3rd…draft peppers in first…Mixon in 2nd…maybe trade up in 2nd with the extra 3rd if needed.

  37. Jeagan1999 Says:

Had it not been for the incident in question, there’s no doubt that Mixon would be a first rounder. I would not be opposed to the Bucs grabbing him in round 2. Young kids sometimes make stupid decisions, hopefully he will learn from his.

  38. DB55 Says:

    Blake

Can’t ever get past the 1 minute mark when watching that tape. Stupit, that’s all I can say, absolutely stooopit! That stiff arm, the speed and them cuts. Smh. If he goes to vegas it’s over, destiny in the making.

  39. Lac22 Says:

I agree, trade back and grab peppers or Obi and pick up an extra 3rd. Pick up Mixon in the 3rd

  40. ndog Says:

What is so impressive by these numbers?

The only good defenses they played Ohio State and Auburn he had less than 100 yards I don’t get it. He had 48 yards vs Texas who lost to Kansas and fired their coach, man your right that’s impressive. You guys are crazy.

  41. Vico Says:

This certainly looks like trading down in the first, multiply your choices. My prediction: DE in the late first, S second RB and OL in the third. They are probably facing the possibility of McCaffrey and Cook gone at 19, which I find quite likely. I’m in as long as the decision doesn’t turn into a distraction for the rest of the team.

  42. Blake_bucsfan Says:

He had 90 yards recieving vs Auburn too. But here’s the thing when discussing draft prospects. It’s not always about the stats. How impressive were Le’veon Bell’s or Demarco Murray’s college stats?

It’s about traits and future potential. And at 6’0 228 with 4.5 speed, cat-like quickness, power, elusiveness, vision, and attitude, he is the complete package.

You can argue the morality of drafting him all day long, but his talent is undeniable.

  43. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

Many draft experts see us as trading down in the first round, and why not ?
If all the for sure studs are gone, why not get some extra picks.

  44. K3v Says:

Dude is a very good rb but may be a turd. That incident cost him from being a top 20 pick and now he will fall into somewhere in day two and lose millions in guaranteed cheddar. I have no issue with him landing in 2nd round if it turns out after teams look into him that it was an isolated incident. If that is the case, the juice will be worth the squeeze for some NFL team in 2nd round for sure. Perine is also a likely day two pick but on talent and upside alone Mixon is the better player hands down. If Mixon is a thug and this wasn’t a one time thing, I think NFL shuns him until 5-6th round range.

  45. ndog Says:

Compare those numbers to these and please tell me whos better!
You guys have been listening to Blakes crap for to long. In addition to the clear facts/numbers, one of these two guys punched a women in the face so hard her face had to be rebuilt! This could not be more clear!

  46. Blake_bucsfan Says:

And thats without even mentioning that he split carries with Perine, which undoubtedly effected his production.

  47. DoNUTS Says:

2 RBs have not been selected in round 1 in over 5 years. IN 2017, that wont change. This class is too deep for Bucs to be selecting RB in round 1.

  48. ndog Says:

A lot of guys have traits, I’ll take the guys that actually produce. Trent Richardson has traits, Ron Dayne had traits, Curtis Enis had traits, Lawrence Phillips had traits what did that get them? Traits can suck it I will take players who do it between the lines espically against the best competition.

  49. Buccaneer scotty Says:

3 or more Rbs will go in the first round Mark it!

  50. Blake_bucsfan Says:

You do realize that you are comaring meaningless college production of one guy who was the featured back/ focal point of his offense, to a guy that split carries with another extremely talented running back?

Dalvin Cook averaged 25 touches a game, Joe Mixon averaged 18.

    You do realize that?

  51. Rob Says:

I’m from Florida and the Seminoles are my second-favorite team. But I would rather have mixon then cook, no matter what Ne-Yo say as long as cook and mixon have no drama in their careers I put money on mixon having a better career in the NFL. And I bet the Bucs coaching staff likes Mixon more than they do cook

  52. ndog Says:

Yes I realize one guy proved he can carry a team the other has not proved that. You are 100% correct.

  53. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Lol. So what was he supposed to do, demand that perine be benched?

  54. Rrsrq Says:

I see Lev Bell with his patience, if you want him take him at 19, it’s simple as that. If you try to trade back and tea,s know he has visited your facility and your penchant for taking a risk in the draft, he may not be there when you draft. With him, I would have no problem trading up in the second to get the next player on your board and give up switching 2nd, a fourth this year and third next year, we will be picking so low (32nd) next year it won’t matter.

  55. ndog Says:

No be so good you can’t take him off the field or not knock a girl out and give someone else a chance to steal his spot. Facts are facts one proved he can carry a team one has not. I will take the proven one every time.

  56. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Pfft. What is, is what is. Anyway, i’m through with this rap session. We’ll see who’s right when it’s all said and done.

  58. LUVMYBUCS Says:

I’m down with the running back by committee approach.
Especially since that particular set-up – has won more Championships.
Then the much ballyhooed – bell cow set-up.

When I last checked – the running back by committe approach…
…has won 70-75% of “ALL” NFL Championships” in the Super Bowl Era.

You could probably count on one hand.
The number of running backs from a SB winning.
That averaged more than 18+ carries per game (for the season).
    Over the past 20yrs.

With being in the site. I’m confused by what and why and who are we drafting. Now I don’t care who we draft. Just draft a human.

  61. Blake_bucsfan Says:

One more thing Ndog, I already know what your rebuttal will be, but if you wanna draft a guy for his production, then Donnel Pumphrey is your guy. Guy had nearly 2 thousand more rushing yards than your beloved Cook. And is the all time Fbs leader in yards gained. Guess he should be the first running back off the board right?

  62. Doctor Stroud Says:

Draft both Perine and Mixon (but not in the lower rounds) and be done with it!

  63. Eric Says:

    Cook is miles better.

  71. Eric Says:

Hey Ndog, do yourself a favor and release Dalvin’s nut$, you sound pathetic praising this guy like he is Bo Jackson coming out of college. This guy is going to be a freaking bust, can’t run in between the tackles and I’m sorry but 4.5 speed isn’t fast. All those runs to the outside won’t exist for him because this is the NFL not the ACC. Linebackers run 4.5 in the NFL. I really think you should open your eyes when you look at that highlight reel of Mixon. Mixon has big runs right up the gut and creates those giant lanes with his vision and speed. When I watch Cook all I see is a guy who can bounce it outside and he does it well but you wont find many big runs of him running up the gut. As for him not breaking tackles, you can’t be serious, when he isn’t running through tackles, he is stiff arming the crap out of people and jumping over them….all in the same play.
BTW when you rack up a bunch of carries and didn’t split the load you get what’s called wear and tear. No I’m not talking about his shoulder tears either. I really don’t think you understand how biased and out of touch with reality you are….Seminole life!!

  72. Eric Says:

Great job Bucs this kid should not be sentence to death we all make mistakes as a real Season Pass Holder this would bother me at all you don’t kick or spit on a dog let alone another human being!!

  73. Mo_Downs Says:

Joe Mixon = Madden 19 Cover

NFL scouts suggest Mixon is comparable to La’Veon Bell.

Would La’Veon Bell add anything to the Bucs?

I also wonder if we plan to run, much.

And I hope the Panthers do draft him. Kwon the king and Lavonte would shut the kid down with steeze. Not to mention all the easy turnovers we would get off his butterfinger fumbles.

  87. Trubucfan22 Says:

Heck, with the way cooks runs, Vernon Hargreaves would be the team leader in tackles. Cooks is too scared to run tough, he just bounces everything outside.

  88. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Man this kid is the ideal fit for the term RB in the later rounds. Him and them weak @$$ numbers. Blake how many top ten Ds did he face Blake???

  89. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

758 yards after contact. What was mixon’s???

  90. BigHogHaynes Says:

MIXON was splitting time with SP…so numbers don’t mean a damn thing…he I would not mind if they took both of them! Then they could split time pounding the rock right here in TAMPA BAY ! BUILD THAT DAMN WALL!!

  91. ndog Says:

Nosbos ignore them they are just poking the bear cause they don’t even believe the crap their spewing.

  92. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Well, off the top of my head D’onta Foreman had over 1000 yards after contact this past season.

And Dalvin prolly got half of those yac numbers between USF and Wake Forrest alone.

  93. BigHogHaynes Says:

Some like milk and cookies…some like peanut butter and jelly with their milk! But if you say MIXON is not a top RB in this DRAFT….you can’t see the Forrest for the trees!!

  94. Blake_bucsfan Says:

I’m dead a$$ serious when I say I hope the Panthers draft him. PLEASE let him go to the Panthers. Nothing would please me more.

  95. Eric Denman Says:

Cook to the Panthers would make me smile! Would rather have McCaffrey or Mixon

  96. Make America Brate Again Says:

This horrible piece of human debris does NOT belong on the team! He leveled that girl, we all saw the tape, but he has had other incidents that show this will be a recurring pattern.

I don’t care about how much talent he has, this a$$ clown will be suspended before you can say “Goodell”!!!!!!!!!!!!

  97. Blake_bucsfan Says:

the only other “incident” was him ripping up a parking ticket.

  98. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/donnel-pumphrey-player-stats

For those of you that cream your jeans over stats in College. Donnel Pumphrey is your man.

  99. NFLNut Says:

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Dalvin and would be happy with him at #19 … BUT … I have always maintained that if you can get Mixon in the later rounds that is better “value” so I am thrilled to see the team bring him in for a chat!

I mean seriously, would you guys rather have Cook and a DE that gets 4-5 sacks a year or Mixon and Taco Charlton in the first? How about Cook and a WR that is a”decent #3″ and averages 600-700 yards a year in his prime or Mixon and a potentially dominant wide receiver in Corey Davis in the first?

  100. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I know ndog I just be messing wit’em is all. My guy has almost as many yards as he does in total but after contact. This kid OV.R RATED. And would stop mentioning that twing pomphrey. He ain’t carrying the rock for no team in the nfl.

  101. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

If Mixon got those #s splitting carries the real question is what would he have put up if he hadn’t? Extrapolate that out for your facts Ndog. It stands to reason that if Mixon had the chance to carry the team, 1st of all he could and would’ve put up very good #s. For you guys to say he wouldn’t then it’s a waste of time talking to you. Cook has bad shoulders already and a fumbling issue all which will translate to even worst in the NFL. Cook is not a between the tackles runner. With our line we need a rb with power and strength, and a devastating stiff arm!

  102. Blake_bucsfan Says:

Whatchu tahm bout bruh? LOOK AT THEM THERE YARDS! Homeboy makes everybody’s numbers look pedestrian, right? Cause that’s the biggest determining factor in projecting NFL success, Right?

  103. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Barry Switzer Says DRAFT JOE MIXON
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTmJgcQiOyk

That’s from a man that’s scouted – some the best running backs in league history.

  104. Guzzie Says:

Last year I really wanted Spence in the 1st, was super excited, and surprised he lasted to the 2nd. Hopefully lightning strikes twice, Mixon is my favorite player in this draft, just like Noah, I must like redemption type players. Seems like once notorious bad boy in college Jameis got here, the Stars started to align and if Mixon lands on the Bucs, #BRINGTHERINGS motto might take off lol

  105. Eric Says:

    Too funny!!
Talk about a man crush. I like Mixon more than Cook but I’m not sweating him like I’m his biAtch.Pull up your jeans Jr., men don’t ride another man’s jock….Homie!
I’d rather take Fournette, Mcafferey, Foreman, Samuel, Perine,
    and Mack. Cook=BUST!

  106. NFLNut Says:

Cook = bust? Seriously? Come on man … Dalvin is lightning in a bottle and is one bad boy.

  107. NFLNut Says:

    ********** QUESTION 4 EVERYONE ****************

I have a feeling BOTH Corey Davis AND Dalvin Cook are going to be available when the Bucs draft at #19 … my question is as follows:

    Would YOU rather:

Draft Corey Davis in the first and Joe Mixon in the 2nd

    or

Draft Dalvin Cook in the first and Chris Goodwin in the 2nd

As for me I’m torn but I’m leaning towards the Davis+Mixon duo as I believe Davis has Pro Bowl potential and am not sure Goodwin won’t be a bust …

  108. Blake_bucsfan Says:

@Guzzie 1000% Percent agree with you on that my friend. Noah Spence was my favorite pass rusher from last year (besides Bosa who I knew we had no shot at), and I was absolutely stoked when we got him in round 2. And Love the Idea of potentially getting Mixon in the 2nd round this year.

But yeah guys there are a ton of roads I think we could take, and nearly all of them could address our major needs.

    Round 1 – Obi Melifonwu/ Bishard “Budda” Baker/ David Njoku/ Evan Engram/ Jordan Willis/ Charles Harris/ Derek Barnett

    Round 2 – Joe Mixon/ D’onta Foreman/ Curtis Samuel/ Zay Jones/ Chris Godwin/ Marcus Maye

    Round 3 – Carlos Henderson/ Sameje Perine/ Kareem Hunt/ Brian Hill/ Eddie Jackson/ Bucky Hodges/ Adam Shaheen

    Round 4 – Trey Hendrickson/ Tanoh Kpassagnon/ Jamaal Williams/ Cooper Kupp/ Ryan Switzer/ Michael Roberts/ Jordan Legget/ Josh Reynolds

This draft is incredibly deep. Trading up in any capacity would be shortsighted and costly to the future of our team.

  109. USFBUC Says:

Well I made a long well thought out post and it got lost. Both guys are going to be great just depends on if we want another player in the first or not.

  110. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Joe Mixon Vs Texas Tech (2016)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQor_C1-5X0#t=521.614167336

  111. Buc 4ever Says:

WOW! I was a fan of Mixon hoping to get him in the 2ND round if Cook was gone by the 19th pick. After looking at his highlights I see a pure BEAST. He has speed, vision, quickness, balance, power and great hands. If he checks out, draft Njoku in the 1st and trade back up the grab Mixon. I am all in. Our offense would be unstoppable!

  112. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

I’ve been asking for this all off season. No first round RB. Snag Mixon later and reap the rewards. Mixon is being compared to both Le’Veon Bell and David Johnson due to his patience as a runner and his having the best receiving skills of any back coming out in the draft this year.

He’s got the size, speed, patience, and receiving ability. The best back in this year’s draft from a talent perspective.

  113. Bucballbaby84 Says:

Cook, for all of his toughness and willingness to fight for yards and take hits in the open field, is not very comfortable between the tackles. He is often criticized for being too quick to take the ball to the outside, which makes him less than ideal for an NFL team looking for a guy reliable in short-yardage situations.
His other big weakness is ball security, with 13 career fumbles, including two multi-fumble games Cook will have to work on keeping the ball safe at the next level where the level of competition on defense increases.

  114. Rod Munch Says:

Lets sign Greg Hardy as well and then we have a Bucs cheerleader of the month calendar, where every cheerleader has a black eye. How awesome is that!

  115. grafikdetail Says:

who cares!! people felt the same way about Jameis LOL if the bucs feel he can help the team & stay out of trouble… draft him

  116. Brandon Says:

Anybody that wants Cook in the first round is clearly an FSU Homer. I wanted Winston a few years back at number one overall but not because I was a homer, because I was an objective observer knows football. Cook, is not worth a first-round pick.

How has Ahmad Black worked out for us? Aguayo? Draft the best player. Not the player that homer fans want because they’re too narrow minded to realize that sometimes there’s even better football players OUTSIDE the state of Florida.

  117. Buccaneer scotty Says:

If that dumb b****h wasn’t calling him a N****r hitting him and spitting on him she wouldn’t have got hit ! He could have and should have walked away and pressed charges on her,but don’t you dare act like she was some innocent girl doing nothing wrong.

  118. 1sparkybuc Says:

Mixon won’t be there for us in the second round. Grab him at 19 if he makes it that far. He made one mistake, was punished, and learned from it. Years have past without further incidents. Get over it. What he did was a reaction to an action. It wasn’t premeditated and he stopped immediately. He knew right away it was the wrong thing to do. He will bond with Jameis and make us all proud. Cook has too many and more recent issues. Mixon has one and it’s years in the past.

  119. Maze Says:

Mixon would look dope in a Bucs uni

  120. webster Says:

I am happy my bucs are doing their due dilligence. That lets me know they are serious about winning. Last time we had a 10 win season, we had plenty of players with character concerns ie talib, blount, stevens, winslow etc. Gone are the days of having 100% choir boys that lead to 4-12 seasons. You need football players first and mixon fits that mold just like winston did. Hats off to the bucs for doing there due diligence.

  121. Dubcity06 Says:

Hes a woman beater. Cant root for that guy.

  122. JimmyJack Says:

Rather cheer for a RB Im not embarassed about. I mean come on the dude beats women. Lowest form of life

  123. NFLNut Says:

^ “beats women” implies he continues to beat on women.

Did he knock out one woman that spit him and hit him first? Yes. Does that mean that he “beats women”? No. It means, he hit one woman one time.

Just as you wouldn’t call a man who got drunk one time in his entire life and that when he was 17 years old a “drunkard”, so to should you not say Joe Mixon “beats women”.

  124. Buccfan37 Says:

Like little kids in a candy store, hey I like Mixon too.

  125. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Either one of those RBs would make me happy…but Joe, you should know one is a bully back and hte other is a finesse back. Different situations call for each.

  126. Mo_Downs Says:

The morality of this situation is covered by the law. That’s why we have laws.

The problem comes when the law is not applied fairly because of reasons beyond the “letter of the law”.

So, any “RATIONAL” person (not raging drunk) might consider the possibility that you “Don’t Step on Superman’s Cape” (bit#$%ch-slap him) in front of his friends and fans and have any expectation of contrition on his part is clearly, using a clinical term, “Off Da Chain”

But, I still maintain that an old adage should be applied to this and similar situations. “It’s all fun and games until someone gets an eye poked out. And, loses a multi-million dollar contract because he didn’t defend/protect himself.

The woman committed ASSAULT & BATTERY in a public place and endangered everyone there with actions that could very well have incited a much more violent reaction from the crowd. So, why is she not in jail?

Whomever throws the first blow or, in this case, 2 blows, goes to JAIL, RIGHT?

When ANYONE resorts to a physical attack and decides to pursue such a irrational and aggressive tactic, the results usually carry the high potential for unintended (broken jaw?) consequences.

I have no desire to impune the character of either of the participants beyond this incident.

    Clearly, KIDS DO DUMB S%*T.

  127. Buc1987 Says:

    “Joe Mixon Comes To Tampa”

And probably 25 other NFL cities as well….

  128. BUC IT Says:

I don’t want a player who did what Joe Mixon did to that woman. I overlook a lot of things and people make mistakes but doing what he did just speaks about his character. I just can ever imagine doing something like that…. ever. Ill pass and I would be upset if the bucs selected him.

  129. MadMax Says:

    Nope!

  130. 1sparkybuc Says:

I really hope the Bucs have the balls to draft this young man.
