Look Who Jameis Is Working Out With
March 29th, 2017It seems America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, has a new workout buddy.
And his name is Adrian Peterson.
One of the greatest running backs to wear shoulder pads in the NFL, who also happens to be a free agent, was pictured with Jameis and Jameis’ personal trainer Tim Grover and Jameis’ personal quarterback coach George Whitfield after a recent workout session.
The photo comes from Whitfield’s personal Instagram account. Below is the caption written by Whitfield.
Learned the extremes that Michael [Jordan] and Kobe [Bryant] were willing to go from arguably the greatest trainer of all time, Tim Grover. Watched a proud, high-powered All Star (Adrian Peterson) train like a rookie trying to make a team. Most of all, witnessed a young 22 yr old quarterback lead a group of NFL vets like a 5-star general. Today was a DAY!
It also appears DeSean Jackson is in the same workout clique. Whitfield posted a photo Monday on the same Instagram account from the same location posing with Flash. Intrigue!
Now Joe is fond of saying what Jameis wants Jameis gets, and feel free to speculate if Jameis was doing some crootin’ with Peterson. Odds are pretty good he was.
At the NFL combine, Joe spoke off the record with an NFL suit who is part of the Belicheat tree, of which Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht is a branch. This suit told Joe about Adrian Peterson, “When is the last time a 32-year old running back did anything in the NFL?”
Well, that would be last year with Frank Gore, but before that, you have to go all the way back to weed-friendly Ricky Williams. Point made.
So unless Jameis (and Flash?) does one helluva sales job on Licht, Joe would be quite surprised if Peterson is wearing pewter and red this fall.
Major hat tip to Gil Arcia.

Somebody will sign AP after the draft. Is not the best year for him to be a FA.
Bellicheat will probably sign him for half the price this summer.
March 29th, 2017 at 6:53 am
Training with Tim is having synthetic oil in your engine. If the opportunity comes, we will be ready for the long trip to Minnesota on February 4, 2018.
Pedal to the metal!!!!
Go Bucs!!!
March 29th, 2017 at 6:55 am
If we can get AP for the right price I’m all for it. But I still hope we draft Dalvin Cook.
March 29th, 2017 at 7:06 am
Joe, check this out https://www.instagram.com/p/BSNcar5Atxs/?taken-by=georgewhitfieldjr
Mike Evans, Jamies, AP, DeSean!
March 29th, 2017 at 7:28 am
This don’t mean a damn thing……….more hype and space filler news during the off season.
I don’t want AP here………
March 29th, 2017 at 7:32 am
Maybe Winston is the “guy” working AP out for the Bucs?
March 29th, 2017 at 7:46 am
Wow!! Looks like Jameis is bonding with the Wrs .
Adrian Peterson being there looks like more than coincidence. I didnt think there was a chance of us signing him
Now- It appears that AP may already think hes a Buc!!
March 29th, 2017 at 8:02 am
Well, it is definitely intriguing…
March 29th, 2017 at 8:10 am
It proves he wants to be the best and is working out with the best !!!!! Great job Winston!!!!
March 29th, 2017 at 8:34 am
But but Jameis is fat and lazy……..
March 29th, 2017 at 8:45 am
AP in the backfield is a game changing threat. Why not our backfield for couple of years?
March 29th, 2017 at 8:54 am
DallasBuc Im with you, the dude is a freak and would not sneeze that he comes back and puts up 1200 yards and opens it up for Jameis
March 29th, 2017 at 8:55 am
Just draft McCaffrey already like you know you are going to Licht.. Its the guy you want.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:02 am
I would pick McCaffrey too…….If he is not available I would go for Doug or AP at a low price……Remember we need to keep Kwon, JW and Evans, and that will not be cheap by any means!!!!
March 29th, 2017 at 9:09 am
Ok guys why not pick up Adrian Peterson and still draft cook. We can all come to the agreement that Martin is done here. It would give cook the privledge to be mentored by the greatest back that has ever played the game. And to be honest, it would be one of the nastiest RB tandems of all times. Just imagine the nightmare this would cause defensive coordinators lmao. AP AND COOK IN THE BACKFIELD, with BRATE, EVANS, & JACKSON RUNNING ROUTES. OMG I THINK I JUST PEED A LITTLE LOL. NOT SINCE DUNN AND THE TRAIN HAVE WE HAD SUCH A DANGEROUS BACKFEILD. NOT TO FORGET WE HAD MCCARDELL, Galloway, and the baby catching passes from Brad Johnson. Come on people Brad johnson. Imagine if that was Winston making those passes then. King Kong wouldn’t have SH!t in us! Lmao
March 29th, 2017 at 9:21 am
would be great to see AP in a bucs uni…..Winston and AP will be determined to win it all now….draft donte foreman (6’1/235 4.45) and let him learn from AP….GO BUCS!!!!
March 29th, 2017 at 9:22 am
When that poll happened the other day I said the bucs would sign A.P. after the draft and ppl said I was crazy… I don’t believe I look so crazy now lol. Time will tell. Bucs organization are not stupid and they know Cook isn’t going to drop to them at #19 at the draft. Sorry FSU fans. They do get Marlon Mack though.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:26 am
Dalvin over a 1000 votes on that poll. Guess that’s whole lot of us that happen to be crazily out our minds then.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:29 am
Yeah pretty much. Lol
March 29th, 2017 at 9:32 am
Rather Peterson than little Mccaffery
March 29th, 2017 at 9:33 am
Funny thing is everytime someone sticks a mic in front of him they are asking about him reconnecting with Fameis and what it would be like. His response yesterday “that would be special, me Jameis would do special things together in the league”. I agree.. Ya see outside of jbf people don’t seem concern with our 19 selection why, they know better they know if an organization wants you they’ll figure out a way to get you. Stay tune draft night approaches.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:34 am
“Ok guys why not pick up Adrian Peterson and still draft cook.”
Because then you are using your 1st round pick on essentially what will be a 3rd down back. There are better ways a 1st round pick can be used.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:35 am
Looks like AP is half white. Never knew….
March 29th, 2017 at 9:35 am
Screw it, offer AP a $5mil one year deal and a Midnight Express 43 open ready to go at the marina and let’s do this thing.
The Bucs have a ton of money.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:37 am
If AP is fully healthy and willing to play for the $7M that we were going to pay Doug Martin – I think it would be a fairly easy decision to sign him to a 2 year, $14M deal with 1/2 of that guaranteed in 2017. Peterson is going to play somewhere this year – why not in Tampa Bay? Yea – he’s old for a RB – but AP is also one of the greatest RBs of all time – a sure fire 1st ballot hall of famer – and he’s shown amazing recuperative powers and will power to excel in the near past. Its a bit of a gamble considering his recent injury history – but if we get a player that resembles the guy who won the rushing title (again) just two years ago, the payoff would be HUUUUUUGE!
March 29th, 2017 at 9:40 am
I think this is how it’s gonna go down….
We’re going to go into the draft targeting Dalvin. If he drops and we scoop him then we’re good. If we don’t get him, well everyone needs to know that we probably won’t go after McCaffrey. He is too much like Sims.
So if we don’t get him, then we go with Mack or a late rounder. We then take the time to look at Doug and work him out or potentially bring in AP.
Ultimately I would like to draft a RB in the 4th, retain Doug and see what he can do. But I would not be upset if we took AP because I think he has one more elite season in the tank.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:42 am
Cause it’s the best story for the media to bring fuel too. That’s their job. A lot of ppl are buying into it like you which means they’re doing their job right.😒 No matter what they do draft night I will be happy with it and will be behind them 100 percent. Days are looking brighter bucs fans and so is the future! Clear skies with plenty of sun Tampa! Go Bucs!
March 29th, 2017 at 9:44 am
I’m wit you on that one 84..
March 29th, 2017 at 9:44 am
@Bucs_in_Spain
My boy Mike Evans standing next to my other boy James Harden. Tight.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:45 am
I’m not saying don’t draft Cook. I’m saying there is no way he drops to pick #19. It could happen cause anything could happen but that scenario is highly unlikely.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:50 am
Man what this shows me is just how big Jameis is. Man he makes AP look like a little kid in that picture.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:55 am
I feel you bro. But I’ve seen some top rated guys drop before. If it weren’t for the cannibus Sapp might not have ended up being a Buc. Also I wanna mention I slightly disagree with what you said about the media in relation to myself. If you check the archives bro You’ll see I’ve been sreaming DC since before the college season ended. To me maybe not others it just seems like a perfect match. We’ll see draft night tho.
March 29th, 2017 at 9:55 am
Unless Cook is drafted, the Bucs will not hand over the starting job to a rookie RB, especially a 3-4 round back, a 2nd round guy like Foreman or Mixon would probably win the job by mid season, but its platoon city if someone like Mack, Kamara, B Hill, K Hunt, then AP or Martin would make sense as a bridge player, much rather have AP we already know Martin is a bum
March 29th, 2017 at 10:03 am
I will say this, ppl who want Dalvin Cook with the bucs should make themselves a backup plan of who they want the bucs to take at #19 so that way their not as disappointed and heartbroken if the bucs can’t get him.
March 29th, 2017 at 10:11 am
MIXON is the new AP!! Build the damn wall!!
March 29th, 2017 at 10:19 am
Winston
Peterson
Evans
D-Jax
Signing Peterson allows us to go TE in the first preferably Howard but most likely Njoku from Miami grab a safety in the second Mack in the third best receiver available in the 4th AP would replace Martin’s cap number so we stil have same money we have now to grab another corner that gets released Mack or Sims could be 3rd down back keeping AP fresh our offense would lethal play action with two TEs and Evans, D-Jax, Hump underneath crazy potential
March 29th, 2017 at 10:25 am
I think if the bucs like what Mixon had to say about football they would take him. They aren’t shy about taking guys with troubled pasts as long as they can tell that the guy has a high football iq and he loves football and would love playing for the bucs and is truely sorry about his past immaturity. Wouldn’t be in the first round though.
March 29th, 2017 at 10:43 am
He would have to take a major pay cut
But I doubt they pass on drafting a RB 1st or 2nd
March 29th, 2017 at 11:14 am
Jameis would know how he looks if he is working out with him. If he says he still has it then we could do a lot worse. AP would have to take a major pay cut tho
The best part of this article is DJax training with Jameis under the greatest trainer of all time. That will have a bunch of benefits during the season if they are already building a rapport on a daily basis.
March 29th, 2017 at 11:15 am
Signing AP would give us more motivation to draft a good young RB and letting him learn from one of the best RBs ever.
Is it draft time yet?? I mean damn
March 29th, 2017 at 11:23 am
The quarterback coach says he looks like a rookie training to try and make a team and koetter said he looks forward to talking to Jameis about it with a grin on his face huh. Welcome to Tampa A.P. Lol
March 29th, 2017 at 11:49 am
Im hoping we can draft Dalvin Cook
March 29th, 2017 at 11:51 am
I love the 5 Star General line. As an Army vet, I have absolutely no problem with the reference. Quite the opposite actually.
March 29th, 2017 at 11:58 am
You guys need to stop about drafting a RB in round 1, just stop! You’re probably the same group that wanted us to draft Trent Richardson too. Dalvin Cook is a NICE back… he’s good… he’s not going to be a stud in the NFL though…. it’s not going to happen. His ceiling is Ryan Matthews. He’s not THAT explosive, he’s not THAT powerful, he’s just not a great RB… so if he isn’t great, he isn’t 1st round worthy. There are RBs that aren’t great that will be available well into round 4. Take Peterson on a one or two year deal, cut Martin’s salary and keep him, draft a RB in round 3 or 4… but don’t waste the 1st round pick on a freaking RB!
March 29th, 2017 at 12:21 pm
I want josh Gordon to get reinstated too so he can come be a buc. Would be cheap too on a prove it deal!! Been saying that since talk of him trying to get reinstated. Go Bucs!
March 29th, 2017 at 12:25 pm
Jameis Winston is a master at dropping hints as to who he wants on his team, lol.
Well, that’s it then. Does anyone here doubt that Adrian Peterson is going to be a Buccaneer? There was a time when I would have loved a move like that…sure will be a nice thing to see on the field…
And you can better Jason Licht and Dirk Koetter are seeing things like this and discussing the pros and cons of bringing Peterson in:
Pros
We would have the best runner in the NFL.
We would sell a bunch of tickets because of it.
We would have a backup who was once the second best runner in the NFL.
Peterson is showing he’d make a great teammate.
Peterson is showing that he is willing to put in extra work.
Cons
His age.
His health.
Price (which actually might not be too bad, so this might end up being a pro).
I was against bringing him in before. Now I’m rethinking my position. It occurs to me that he might last only 2 years here, but what a 2 years it would be.
I suspect Nole would freak out though.
March 29th, 2017 at 12:31 pm
I would add…paying AP $10 mill for 2 years and KEEPING Martin for $7 mill this year would not be outside the realm of possibility.
I mean…most of free agency is over and the Bucs still have a ton of space. The draft won’t take much of that at all.
Think about it.
1- Adrian Peterson
2- Doug Martin
3- Jacquizz Rodgers
4- Chris Sims
That is probably the best RB stable in the NFL.
March 29th, 2017 at 12:33 pm
Brandon…yet 4 other teams EASILY will draft a RB in the first….so I ask you.
Why should we stop talking about it?
March 29th, 2017 at 1:32 pm
If the Bucs draft Christian Mac I think there is a great chance they also sign AP … Mac isn’t a volume carry guy nor a goaline guy so he and AP together makes perfect sense!
March 29th, 2017 at 1:46 pm
Bonzai…I thought about it.
1- Adrian Peterson : Risky, but I’m comfortable with 2 years.
2- Doug Martin : No, don’t want him anymore, nor do I trust him.
3- Jacquizz Rodgers : Don’t really know yet.
4- Chris Sims : Dancing Machine.
After AP your stable drops off…
March 29th, 2017 at 1:49 pm
Btw…it’s Charles Sims…ya Silly Sally!
March 29th, 2017 at 3:19 pm
Bonzai – reagrdless of what happens – theres no way the Bucs are paying Doug Martin $7M this year. No chance. Martin will be cut at some point and it will be up to Doug whether or not he wants to come back at the price Licht offers to have him be part of this team for 13 games in 2017. (likely $2Mish) Or just test the market at that time and see what offers he gets. This is why the Bucs need to and probably will just let this play all the way out until a decision must be made after the 3rd week of the regular season. Gives them a chance to see how Martin looks on the field in TC and pre-season – how well he’s following the guidelines needed to get fully past the addiction he’s obviously been battling – and also to make sure we don’t lose a top RB to injury during the 1st 3 games.
March 29th, 2017 at 4:28 pm
Yea I don’t see how a stable of Peterson, Martin, Quizz and Sims would be one of the best in the league.
A 32 year old RB coming off a knee injury that cost him a majority of last season. An injury prone RB coming off of a suspension. Quizz is a solid #2 RB. Sims is a good 3rd down back when he is healthy…. but he can’t stay healthy.
March 29th, 2017 at 4:43 pm
Never mind AP, sign that Madden Giant hovering above him!!!
March 29th, 2017 at 5:12 pm
You mean, Gil “Trump and the Russians stole the election” Arcia don’t you Joe?
March 30th, 2017 at 2:06 pm
If Dalvin falls to no. 19, period. Let AP come in and mentor the next Generational back (hopefully). That way, if AP only plays half of the season, it is still a plus, and he can mentor for at least 1 season, on an incentive based deal. Win Win.
