It’s Jacquizz!
March 9th, 2017UPDATED: 6:22 p.m. Dirk Koetter’s famous handshake meant something.
Various reports are claiming Jacquizz Rodgers is a done deal with the Bucs when the free agency rings at 4 p.m today.
No surprise. Rodgers was Tampa’s favorite bowling ball running back at just under 5-6, carrying the load when Doug Martin could not.
Great depth signing for the Bucs, and a versatile legit No. 1a back.
Weclome back, Jacquizz.
**Jason La Canfora of CBS reports Rodgers will command a two-year deal for $3.3 million with a shot to earn another $1 million in incentives.

No brainer. Koetter probably handled the paperwork personally

…just to make sure our glorified coffee runner didn’t screw anything up!

dallas showing the lIcht love…
I like this one. does not quit take the bad taste of the conte signing away though.

NFL Network reporting that Bucs are close to signing DE Chris Baker!

Glad to see you back Jacquizz

Love the signing if Jaquizz. Solid depth/insurance but I would still love to see one of the backs drafted in the 1st or second round com our way!

With Quizz being a hit on the small side, what about a guy like Foreman or Kamara in Round 2 of draft?
March 9th, 2017 at 3:51 pm
Dallas – Licht is the pilot of the Bucs plane that we are all on. You should root for the pilot.
March 9th, 2017 at 3:53 pm
IMO – solid signing, as is the Conte signing. At the end of the day – its open competition and nobody is guaranteed to make the 53. We’re a long way from camp and lots of additions can be made – so why not resign him and Conte?
March 9th, 2017 at 3:56 pm
@Jeagen- not a bad idea. I still would think cook/mcaffrey in 1st or mixon in 3rd is a better option. Quiz needs carries to be productive, I think Kamara and foreman are the same way. Wear on defenses.

Jeagan:
All in on the Forman pick. Guys a beast, May even break into the 1st Rd, by the time of the draft.

Amen 74Bucs..

Excellent signing. Jaquizz will get his carries this year regardless of what other RBs Bucs have on the roster.
March 9th, 2017 at 4:46 pm
Welcome back Quizz! Now that’s done – go find us a stud #1 RB Jason Licht.
There’s a bunch of good backs coming out in the draft this year – probably the best draft for RBs in quite some time. Find the right fit for us Licht.

Good for him getting some cash, he did really well last season. We need to keep Martin around since it’s an odd numbered year which means he’ll be one of the best backs in football before returning to being a pumpkin in 2018 since it’s an even numbered year. But the Bucs should draft someone too to have ready for not only Martin being a pumpkin in 2018 but also the very real idea of Charles Sims leaving too. Marlon Mack I still really like in the 3rd or maybe even the 4th round – worse case he’d be a 3rd down Sims replacement, but I think he has a chance to be an every down back and regardless of his 40, the guy is a homer in threat as he has breakaway speed. But for Martin, unless he’s out partying with Josh Freeman, you bring him back – I think he’s going to be motivated and embarrassed and will put up a huge year – and the last thing we need is for that huge year to be in Carolina.

Great call. Now just lock up Bradley.

Excellent move. Jacquizz played well last year.

“incentives”
I love incentives. Makes players play hard.
This seems like an amazing deal for the Bucs. It also leads me to believe Licht wants to draft a starting RB given the low amount he;s paying Quizz.
And lookie here…Martin not released yet?

Rod Munch Says
“We need to keep Martin around since it’s an odd numbered year”
LOL!!!!!

I gotta agree with rod. Keep Martin. Re sign him to a lower deal if possible. But definitely keep him around. You have to expect that he will come back with something to prove. Doug can be great when he wants to be. And i think he will want to be great this year.
March 9th, 2017 at 10:24 pm
Did Martin intentionally get pinched so that he could sign elsewhere? The Bucs can keep him, restructure or cut, right? If he doesn’t agree to restructure then he either gets cut or gets paid well to be a spectator. I’m sure there are multiple teams that would overlook a 4 game suspension for a potential pro bowler.
Just thinking out loud here. He didn’t seem overly enthused last year and there was that mystery injury that Koetter said it didn’t even look like he got hurt. Idk I’m sure I way off base.

I find it funny how people constantly would like to bring up how the bucs gave up Blount for nothing but now that he’s available the same fans aren’t really wishing for him

Good bridge for Dalvin no doubt.
