Dominik To The 49ers?
January 26th, 2017The 49ers have been searching for a general manager since they shoved Trent Baalke out the door a few weeks ag. Could their search end in Tampa?
Per the fingers of CBS Sports insider, heavy metal head-banging Jason La Canfora, it seems the 49ers may be looking at former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik.
@JasonLaCanfora: Lot of scuttlebutt among personnel guys at the Senior Bowl that ex-Tampa GM Mark Dominik could end up with the 49ers
Now it is important to note La Canfora did not specify any specific job title. Didn’t mention if it was as an advanced scout, pro personnel man or the general manager position.
Joe found it a bit interesting that Dominik was at the Senior Bowl yesterday but Joe did not notice him on BSPN when the outfit was broadcasting practices. Dominik did co-host a SiriusXM NFL Radio show from Mobile yesterday.
The Senior Bowl is thought to be sort of an informal job fair for NFL teams, so it is interesting that Dominik showed up there, and on the same day murmurs surface among NFL suits that Dominik is up for a gig.

I am not so sure Mark would leave a team on the rise for a dysfunctional mess.
January 26th, 2017 at 7:09 am
He may get the gig by default. Nobody seems to want the job.
January 26th, 2017 at 7:10 am
If the 49ers make this hire, it would bring their mean incompetency levels to startling new heights.
January 26th, 2017 at 7:16 am
He’s been at every Senior Bowl after being fired by the Bucs…Should not be a surprise that he’s there this week also
January 26th, 2017 at 7:43 am
Buc Beleiver……….. Where have you been? What are you talking about? Dominick was fired 3 years ago.
January 26th, 2017 at 7:43 am
A close friend of a friend of my cousin’s, cousin by a distant marriage said Mark is getting the GM job.
January 26th, 2017 at 7:44 am
@1Gr8Buc
Who knows, maybe BSPN will be the next expansion team lmao
January 26th, 2017 at 8:06 am
Hiring Dominick is a good way to make the worst team in the NFL even worse.
January 26th, 2017 at 8:07 am
Now that’s what I’d call desperate If the 49ers did indeed interview Dom for any sort of job working in the NFL again.
I’ll believe it when I see it – that Dom can get a job doing something other than spouting worthless opinions.
The Bucs are just now – 3 years later – starting to dig their way out of the monumental talent hole that Dominik left this franchise in….

” With the 34th overall pick in the 2017 draft, the 49ers trade the pick to the Buc’s for kicker Roberto Aguayno ….”
Dominick ” We see real potential in the kid” so we had to make the trade”

If he gets any job, I wish he would go in the NFC South team so he could torpedo them to the bottom!!!! I guess the next thing is a team in the NFC!!!!
January 26th, 2017 at 9:05 am
It’s weird to see the Niners so dysfunctional. They were in the Bowl not that long ago. Oh how the mighty have fallen! Good luck with Dom!

“Now it is important to note La Canfora did not specify any specific job title.”
It is also important to note that Jason La Canfora is a bona fide jackwagon.

Dom was a brand new GM, with a brand new coach (Rah), been in the league for a while but just learning how to make the big decisions. He was not even given the purse string the first two years. So a second opportunity may turn out to be great after what he should’ve learned, the only problem is the owner of the 49ers is the GM.
January 26th, 2017 at 9:42 am
Fanman that’s the result of running Harbaugh out the building. You talking about a dumb move.
January 26th, 2017 at 9:58 am
Ya know what, Mark Dominik would fit right in, out in San Francisco.
Plus, he is nice looking, in a Gay Bottom sort of way, and America’s most Gay City will love him.
Jefferson Starship said they built San Francisco on Rock and Roll, so why not a “Rockstar” for their next GM. ?

@Rrsrq
“He was not even given the purse string the first two years”
Your dead wrong my friend!!!!!! Check out all the failed free agents and wasted money of 2009!!!!!! and that does not even count of He barely missed out on albert haynesworth which would have secured his place as worst GM in NFL history!!!!!!!
examples,,, Micheal Clayton, luke mcCown, derrick ward, angelo crowell, bryon leftwich, mike nuggent, dirk johnson, Niko Koutouvides
January 26th, 2017 at 10:25 am
@Nole- Biggest mistake that franchise has ever made! You think they miss Harbaugh now?!!! Man please!
@Realist- What a list! Gives me a headache just thinking about it!
January 26th, 2017 at 10:27 am
Just wondering if that is the reason he was throwing the ( Not surprised about Doug Martin) maybe he blowing smoke so he can get him for cheap damaged goods!!
January 26th, 2017 at 10:59 am
The 49ers will sign Dominik if they’re interested in being ranked 37 in the league in something.
January 26th, 2017 at 11:00 am
LaCanfora is garbage. not much to see here.
January 26th, 2017 at 11:50 am
Who cares? If Dominik were anywhere close to a decent GM he wouldn’t have been on BSPN for the last few years. Stay with the BSers Mark. You’re better at that.
January 26th, 2017 at 12:49 pm
The 49ers had there 15 minutes of fame extended for hours in the past. Some solid bottom dwellers are in order for that storied franchise. Here’s looking down at you losers.
January 26th, 2017 at 3:46 pm
Mark Dominik hasn’t bad in his role until the Jersey Trash Schiano showed up and alphamaled him. If Schiano doesn’t drive Freeman to a life of drugs – then his drafting record is pretty solid. His free agent signings were mostly Licht level bad with a few hits like VJ.
You know if you have two GMs in a row that both draft fairly well and both miss huge when it comes to FA’s, maybe there’s other issues. Just saying.
January 27th, 2017 at 4:35 pm
the job 20 other candidates have turned down? good luck with that, Mark
