It Has Begun

Popular draft target with Bucs fans.

Popular draft target with Bucs fans.

Joe is not really into draft mode yet. Hell, we don’t even know who is coming out or not. The combine is still two months away.

That still doesn’t stop Bucs fans getting lathered up wondering who Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht will chose in the first round, No. 19 overall.

Joe just has a hunch it won’t be a punter or kicker.

Well, if there is a popular player for Licht to draft, or trade up for, it is a certain ACC running back. His name has floated into Joe’s timeline quite a bit of late. In fact, just recently, a Bucs fan sent Joe a graphic of said player wearing a Bucs uniform. Who is this player?

You see him in the photo above. It’s is Florida State running back Dalvin Cook, who holds the FSU record once held by former Bucs running back Warrick Dunn of yards rushing at the school. Cook also has the record for career rushing touchdowns at Florida State.

Joe isn’t sure the Bucs should draft Cook. Again, it is early. But if Licht believes he is the guy and trades up to get him, well, let’s just say Joe trusts Licht.

The same dude who made this fan art also made a john Ross one

  2. Nick Says:

Career-span of the position should be factored. CB, DE, OT, WR.. positions where you can move inside if you lose your speed are much smarter bets for the 1st than a RB that might only give you 4-5 quality years. Key factor should be what position would you want to give a 2nd contract to. AP and Marshawn are the only two that come to mind drafted in the 1st the last 10 years that merited a second big deal.

  3. Poor Glennon Says:

    Looks like a muscle hampster

  4. T in Orlando Says:

If the option is a top RB or top WR, and Licht has both graded evenly, you pick the WR. Easier to find good RBs later in the draft. If Licht has the RB graded higher, then by all means draft him. Shouldn’t reach for a Receiver just because there’s a need

  5. Syl Says:

You can draft more than players from Florida schools, and you can find a running back later in the draft.

  6. OrlandoBucs Says:

We can’t be this stupid. We need a WR or safety so much more. This is a deep RB draft and we would be idiots to do this.

  7. Mojiska Says:

I love dalvin cook, but I think there are much more pressing needs to fill. I would not be disappointed if he is the pick, but I will if they trade up. Take BPA of a few positions. WR, safety, cb, rb, d line. If that’s Cook then go for it.

  8. PRBucFan Says:

    Cook isn’t happening.

    Deal with it Nole Nation.

    1. WR, Line, Safety help across from Tandy, CB depth much greater holes to fill
    2. Cook will no way, no how, be available at 19
    3. Zero way we trade up for a RB.

  9. Pawel Says:

Im sorry but A-guy-yay-yo didnt play up to his par this year, so therfor we need to draft a kicker but in the first round! We need them points to win Rams and Oak games.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

trading up should be a no no….stay put…

draft dede westbrook(WR) or corey davis(WR) with the first pick….
    donte foreman(RB) with the 2nd….
    demarcus walker(DE) with the 3rd….
    bucky hodges(TE) in the 4th….
    oline 5th….
    dline 6th….

    FA-
    JPP
    R.LEARY
    D.POE
    P.GARCON/D.JACKSON
    M.BENNETT…….GO BUCS!!!!

  11. Joe Says:

You can draft more than players from Florida schools, and you can find a running back later in the draft.

Sure. But Joe is of the mind you pick the best player, who cares where he played in college?

As for Florida players, Joe remembers a nice little foundation the Bucs once had with Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks and Warrick Dunn.

Jameis, Hargreaves and Cook? Not bad (yes, Joe understands Jameis is from Alabama).

  12. OrlandoBucs Says:

Dede Westbrook needs to be our #1 target. He will be on the team for 10 years.

  13. Bucsince1976 Says:

Build an o-line: that will improve both your running game and passing game.

  14. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

“Jameis, Hargreaves and Cook? Not bad (yes, Joe understands Jameis is from Alabama).”

    and Dunn is from Louisiana.

  15. Pickgrin Says:

I would love to have Dalvin Cook – and so would Jameis. But its certainly not worth trading a 3rd round pick or worse, a 2nd to move up and get him. We would have to move up probably 8-10 spots to get Cook IMO and that will be expensive.

We need high end/starter level talent at WR, RT, C, TE, DL and Safety as well as RB (depending on their plans for DM22). So it shouldn’t be too hard to find a very good BPA player at one of those positions in the 1st round at #19.

  16. DB55 Says:

What if licht signs a WR, safety and a tackle in FA? Allowing for some flexibility in the draft. Would you draft Cook then even if you have to trade up?

  17. Joeypoppems Says:

as of right now imo it’d be a mistake to trade up and get him. If he is somehow, someway still available at 19 and they take him, then thats a different story

  18. 813bucboi Says:

@bucsince76…I hear you….I would love for cam robinson to fall to #19….plug him in at rt…get r.leary at guard…move marpet to center….let pamphile play guard….maybe sweezy becomes healthy again….if licht was smart he would draft a lineman and sign one in FA….GO BUCS!!!!

  19. PRBucFan Says:

    Exactly Pickgrin

  20. Kobe Faker Says:

    1ST ROUND – COREY DAVIS

    2ND ROUND – DEDE WESTBROOK

LICHT can do whatever he wants with the rest of the draft and FA

these 2 are playmakers that will make the top 5 offense in the NFL for the next decade

we are 30th in YAC team yards. we have no separating playmakers to mismatch ans exploit defenses

  21. NJBucsFan Says:

I wouldn’t mind teaming VHIII with a former teammate of his. Either Wilson (not likely) or Tabor (more likely). Will have a formidable secondary for years.

  22. THETRUTH Says:

COOK points points on board, He takes it to the house if he gets a opening. Some of those runs against panthers last week would have gone to the house. He is a difference, not going get caught and settle for FG.

SEND martin to Vikings for a early round pick

    WR -Free agency
    safety – free agency
    draft build

  23. Frank Pillow Says:

We’re in unusual territory Bucs fans…we’re a team on the rise and ready to legitimately compete for and win the Lombardi. Licht has an obligation to arm this team with weapons and depth (on both sides of the ball) right here/now. Sure, I want to be a “lasting contender,” but not at the expense of winning it all. That means we smartly use FA to bolster/supplement key areas, like OL, DL, WR, S and be willing to make a BOLD move in the draft to get THE guy- a real weapon- ready from day one to share the load with Evans and Winston. That very well may mean giving up picks. I don’t think ATL minds having Julio, right? That’s the kind of move I’m talking about.

  24. PRBucFan Says:

People see what has happened with Zeke and they falsely believe that happens often with early drafted RBs. That story is the exception.

The Red Sea parts for Zeke everytime he touches the ball because of the fact that Dallas spent time assembling a godly o-line.

Our o-line has some holes to fill, aging RT & C position come to mind. Depth. Possibly could upgrade the LT position.

  25. 813bucboi Says:

    dede westbrook- 74 catches 1,465 yards 16td’s…..4.38 speed….gotta get him….GO BUCS!!!!

  26. Guzzie Says:

Joe Mixon from Oklahoma looks like a stud, 6’1 227, has great, not good, great hands, he’s gonna run a low 4.4, Zeke ran a 4.47, he’s gonna last till the 3rd because his shady background, but all reports is he’s learned from his mistake, and it’s a very despicable action he did as an 18 year old, no doubt, but that talent in the backfield with JW and ME, that’ll be a formidable trio for years to come

  27. BuccaneEric75 Says:

813, I don’t think Walker will last until the 3rd. I’m thinking early to mid 2nd.

  28. duthsty rhothdes Says:

Draft a legit LT to protect Jameis and move turnstile d smith to RT, then go get a WR and RB, get some safeties in FA

  29. Kobe Faker Says:

COACH KOBE- THE FALLACY JAMEIS CANT THROW DEEP

it seems alot of newbies here it or read it from a website and that is a fact

Open your eyes and common sense

Jameis threw the deep ball well at FSU and descent enough in his rookie year with speedy recievers

WHY CANT HE THROW DEEP TO EVANS CONSISTANTLY?

in EVERY GAME, not 1 deep route run by evans is the same.

what are you talking about coach?

for ex. a deep route run by desan jackson or ted ginn, the last physical contact from the db is 5 yards after the LOS. 90 % o the time they is no body battling until the final contact point. the QB sees jackson/ginn final break and he can estimate the yardage

however, EVANS does not cant not run the same deep route in the same game ever. Evans isnt fast enough and the dbs mug him non stop all thru the route. where does the contact start? where does it end? where do they push him? where does Evans change speed to get away from the contact down the field? sometimes evans can cover 30 yards quickly with less mugging and sometimes slower

throwing and completing consistently deep to evans is not highly probable

  30. theodore Says:

    ACC plays football?

  31. 813bucboi Says:

@DB55….NO!!!….we still would need a de,dt,te,c/guard and 1 more wr….now if he falls to #15-#18, then trading up wont cost a fortune….but I think he goes very high….#5-#11….GO BUCS!!!!

  32. QBKilla Says:

Hopefully the best player available is a DT or DE (from any school)

  33. shouldhavedraftedefiert Says:

at least tag the guy that made that image Joe, come on and keep it classy good sir.

  34. 813bucboi Says:

@74…from what ive heard they say 2nd or 3rd round pick…..last year players like kevin dobb, Andrew billings, a’shawn robinson were all expected to go in the first round but they fall…billings fell to the 4th…..jon bullard was expected to go in the second and went in the 3rd….it all depends on how deep this draft is for dlineman….but if he’s there in the second I would grad him and get a rb in the 3rd round….GO BUCS!!!!

  35. Lord Cornelius Says:

Damn you Kobe I actually agree with a lot of what you are saying. ME deep ball point is legit. Winston hit a lot of deep balls at FSU with faster WRs that could separate

Corey Davis might be my favorite pick for us right now at 19. Looks like he could be a true #1 type with size/speed/route running/ play making ability.

I’m not as high on John Ross in round 1. Too high a pick for a small speed guy and he really was unimpressive vs Alabama but maybe I’m wrong. I’d rather take that type of player in round 2 – although I doubt Dede Westbrook lasts to our pick there.

  36. Lord Cornelius Says:

    Dream scenario right now:

Sign best RT & best interior lineman in FA since there should be decent ones – at worst just a RT at least
    Sign Dontari Poe DT
    Sign JPP DE
Sign Stephon Gilmore or Trumaine Johnson CB
    Sign Pierre Garcon WR

Trade down and take Jordan Howard TE
Maneuver the 2nd round for Dede Westbrook WR
Take BPA – C/S/RB/DT/DE rest of draft

Imagine the offensive possibilities with OJ Howard & Cam Brate at TE, and Mike Evans, Pierre Garcon, Dede Westbrook, & Humphries at WR.

Howard can actually block at TE unlike Brate; and probably will run like a 4.6ish 40

    A man can dream

  37. Tampa Tony Says:

Need receivers, a center, dt, safety and cbs more than a RB

  38. Rojas Says:

I doubt we will spend that much in FA Cornelius, but I like your draft selection with Howard, and Westbrook.

  39. LakeLandBuc Says:

We have a need at every position. Just draft the BPA.

  40. Kevin Says:

Our line sucked this year….it sucked. This line is not ready for a top shelf back yet. Speed and fantastic hands on a receiver are what we need. Like a sammy watkins that never gets hurt.

Man thats a sigh of relief we took Evans over him looking back huh?

Please don’t waste a good RB like they are in LA. Build the team right and reinforce the o line and WR2 position before a new rb

  41. LakeLandBuc Says:

BPA or trade down, we shouldn’t be reaching this draft.

  42. BuccaneEric75 Says:

813, I can’t see him in the 3rd, but you never know. As much as I want to load up on offense, if we get a WR in the first I’d definitely grab Walker if he’s still there in the 2nd. We might find a good RB in the 3rd. I also wouldn’t mind 2 WR, depending on what we do in FA.

  43. PRBucFan Says:

    where’s 87 y’all?

  44. Rojas Says:

Solomon Thomas looks like a monster.

  45. M.Stevbobucfan Says:

Unless Cook is still there around 10th or 11th I don’t think the bucs would be able to come up with enough to move up that far. ….now around 11th or 12th we are only 7 picks back maybe we can package Glennon and a 4th rounder or something with maybe Cleveland who has 2 lst round picks and also need a QB..and from what iam hearing is that the QBS that are coming out this year are not that great..therefore Glennon would be great until they can develop a QB ..that is if they take a QB at the #1 pick this draft or maybe we have a defensive plAyer that might help a team like Cleveland

  46. Eric Says:

If all that happened is we added cook we would be tremendously improved IMO.

  47. Jay Smith Says:

    Corey davis

  48. NJBucsFan Says:

    @M.Stevbobicfan

We can’t package Glennon. He’s a free agent. We have no rights to him anymore and typically many contracts are designed to prohibit trading a freshly signed player. Might even be against NFL rules.

  49. salish_seamonster Says:

Draft him only if he’s a far better player than the best WR, S, or DE on the board at the time.

  50. salish_seamonster Says:

straight to the bit bucket for no apparent reason… the website filters are screwed up.

  51. ndog Says:

Guys did we not learn our lesson by taking Gaines Adams over AP or Cadillac over Aaron Rodgers about drafting for need. Take the Best Player that is there, the only exception is QB.

  52. Old Bill Says:

Drafting a RB early in a draft is moronic, other than AP most RB’s can be found all over the draft without wasting a 1st round pick.

  53. Defense Rules Says:

@Joe … “Joe is of the mind you pick the best player, who cares where he played in college?” Exactly Joe … pick the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE, but who fills one of our priority needs. We pick way too far down in the draft to really know who’ll be available at #19, plus we’ve got free agency starting well before the draft. With lots of cap space, Bucs sure-as-shootin better make some noise in FA.

  54. Cobraboy Says:

I wouldn’t worry too much about the draft until after Free Agency.

  55. PRBucFan Says:

“pick the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE, but who fills one of our priority needs”

EXACTLY, believe me players at those positions will be available and they won’t be reaches lol.

  56. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Boo.

  57. Doctor Stroud Says:

Defense Rules makes a good point, and that is why I would like to see an article or a series of articles about possible free agents available for positions of need.

  58. Buc'n a Says:

Dede Westbrook looks every bit like a tyrann Mathieu or Odell beckham. Makes catches in traffic, over the top and has the whole show stopping one handed craziness.
Before anyone points out that are two different positions or completely different players, I see so many similarities. Highly charismatic game changers.
Dude plays with a qb that probably won’t ever start in the NFL but makes him look like Eli manning.
    Highlight after highlight.
Would love to see him in a similar colored jersey in the pros.
Just please for all that is holy, do not trade up.

  59. PirateSeminole85 Says:

Dalvin is a beast. Like a cactus needs little water , Dalvin needs little OL. Man has the best balance and vision i have ever seen. Slide right though tackles like a wet bar of soap and then BAM … he gone. He might not be the smart choice in the first round, but he sure as hell ain’t the dumbest.

  60. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Keep an eye out for WR Cooper Kupp. This kid is tough and has some hands.

  61. orlbucfan Says:

No head cases in FA or the Draft, please. Plenty of talented young players out there, just make the scouts do their jobs. They’re paid. The uniforms are hideous, too. I’ll bet the merchandise sales are down. It’s not because of the team’s record, either.

  62. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I just want the two lines fixed.

Peferably defensive line first round, offensive line in second round.

As to WR, I’m hoping one pops up in free agency. There were several last year.

  63. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Give Jameis time and he will play near perfect.

  64. LakeLandBuc Says:

Buccaneer Bonzai: Teams are built in the Trenches. That’s why I wanted Aaron Donald and Laremy Tunsil so bad.

  65. Stpetebucsfan Says:

The draft is a huge crap shoot with roughly a 50-50 shot through the first three rounds and it gets worse after that.

FA’s are no sure deal. But I get it’s fun to speculate. I’m just amused at some guys do with such conviction.

I worry because of the old looks like Tarzan play like Jane phenomenon.

What I generally see in draft coverage is everybody drooling over the Tarzans.
That’s ok if they are actually players and not just stats.

Who would have picked Cameron Brate over ASJ in the draft. NOBODY.
Who would now trade Brate for ASJ? NOBODY

It’s funny…I root for all Florida teams now that I live here but I probably lean a little to the Gators…certainly USF being the local team. Yet you gotta give it up for the recruiting machine in Tallahassee. When I see the power and speed combo in Dalvin Cook….my imagination runs wild.

And so I agree with Lord C. Yeah we all know we’re just having fun and throwing darts up there against the board….but a guy can dream.

Remember last year…we lost track of the times Doug got hauled down from behind after getting behind a defense. That will NOT happen with Dalvin Cook.

  66. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

ndog they either slow or blinded by they’re hatred for FSU. We’ll see what’s good draft night tho. Welcome to Tampa Mr. Dalvin. Psss WR is a more pressing need than RB. I’m sorry do we currently have a starting RB for 2017??? FOH wit that thesis.

  67. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

And nice pic Joe. Color concept looks outstanding on my guy.

  68. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Leshean McCoy 5’11 207lbs.

  69. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Corey Davis in the 1st
    Solomon Thomas in the 2nd
    BPA 3rd – 7th

  70. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @ NOSBOS
I like the cook pick, but he just won’t be there when we pick. But please if u ever listen to anything I say please look up this Solomon Thomas kid. Tell me this isn’t the kind of guy we need on this team. Guy is gonna be a super star

  71. BucfanBF Says:

Dear lord NO on Cook. We would have to trade up and it will cost us draft picks, the same picks we need to fill other holes on this team. Let’s stop being stupid!! Geezus

  72. PRBucFan Says:

I’ll be here to say I told you so and hand you a tissue as dalvin dons another teams jersey.

  73. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

I’m on it GOAT. And let me be the first to tell you all “WE WON’T BE TRADING UP TO DRAFT COOK”he will be there at 19 when we pick. There’s more to the draft than meets the eye people. Carr gose to the Raiders,Bortles gose to the Jags,Fameis ends up in Tampa. Chris Johnson played his school ball geographically right next to the titans he was there at 24. In 1965 all league owners came together and decided Joe Nammoth was going to the Jets. We will not be moving up for him.

  74. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Lets bet PR.

  75. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

So y’all really believe its just coincidence we have RB issues the year Cook and founette are entering the draft??? Really?

  76. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Soloman Thomas I’ll checking him out my next lil break GOAT. Let you know I feel.

  77. LakeLandBuc Says:

We have a history of bad drafting, goes back to our 2nd draft in 1977. when we pick RB Ricky Bell over RB Tony Dorsett.

  78. Buc'n a Says:

    I. Really believe dede Westbrook is the wr we need to draft earlyish… if he went in round 1 or 2 i would be a little surprised but could probably be had mid to late 2nd or early 3rd. He just makes plays without the measurables. Replacing Daryl Smith or adding a safety seems most pressing early. I can’t see the draft this year with our position landing us a immediate impact OL in the 1st.
Jabrill Peppers maybe in the mid to late 1st? Dude come come in and play that heavy hitter safety role that we thought Mark Barron would be….
There was a linebacker for UF, kinda looked (appearance wise) like clay matthews. Long hair and alot of hustle. He caught my eye several times this year and I am a gators antagonist. Anyone know who he is? Is he draft eligible?
    I say
    1st* jabrill peppers
2nd* (possible trade down) dede Westbrook
    3rd* aguayos little brother

No better competition than kin right?

  79. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Buc n a
    UR HIGH!!!!!!
There will be no more special teams draft picks EVER.
And peppers is REALLY overhyped. He is a athletic LBer who has ZERO ball skills and can’t cover. No thanks

  80. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

GOAT he looks like truth like A.I, seems like he lives for that ishh. Motor appears o limitless. Put him against any of those boys from bama.

  81. Buc1987 Says:

    OL or WR.

  82. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Honestly think him in the 2nd would be a steal. Commentators making comments like best in the country whole highlight. You’re right tho we need that kinda meanness, that kinda tenacity, that kinda nasty. He ooozzes that ishh.

  83. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Give me a few names 87. I’m curious.

  84. Ocala Says:

Dalvin will be a star in the NFL but I doubt he makes it past the top 10 picks.
I’m not a fan of the thin frames JOHN Ross in the first round

    My realistic wishlist

    1) Corey Davis WR western Michigan
    2) DeMarcus Walker DE Florida State
    3) Evan Engram TE Ole Miss

  85. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

For all the John Ross supporters I wanna know did you watch him against bama??? So let me get this str8 you’ll rather have the wr that looked like a lil boy against bama but want no part of the RB that look Super against the wolverines. I’m lost.

  86. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

LeShean McCoy drafted 2nd rd 53 overall by Philly. Just so happen to play his college ball at Pitt.

  87. DB55 Says:

    Nole

I want the Alabama dline and RBs. All of them. Make it happen shun.

  88. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

And again he was born Eli Woodard not Eli Apple. You don’t really believe it was by chance he landed in New York. Do you.

  89. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    I hear you DB☺.

  90. VIEJO_SOMBRERO Says:

I am really tired of the Seminole obsession, you guys realize that Seminole fans watch every single moment of Cooks career, you know, when he dominates guys with 4.8 speed and poor tackling who are still growing as young men. After the 2015 draft I said on the BIG DOG EVANS started the drops last year early season post draft after 2015

  91. PRBucFan Says:

    Bet

And what new Handle does 87′ have?

  92. Pete Mitchell Says:

Team speed and wide receiver help…. no need to look outside the Bay Area! Rodney Adams at USF can take it to the house on just about any play! Use those early picks to sure up the defense and free agency to free agency to land a real no 2 WR (Pierre Garçon anyone) bring Rodney in with a third or fourth round pick and boom!!! Listen to them cannons fire!

  93. M.Stevbobucfan Says:

Thanks njbucsfan…didn’t realize Glennon was a free agent I am thinking 17 was his last year

  94. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

I’m sick of this Seminole obsession. During the beginning of last year when Mike Evans began to have the sports psychology issues and dropped every other pass thrown his way, I raised my concern about the 2016 DRAFT on the Big Dog show. I specifically said that after Taking #Famous in 15 and only getting Kwon on defense, my fear was that the 16 Draft would be for Defense and I SAW THE GLARING NEED FOR another WR! Evans IS THE GOAT yes he came back and owned it in ’16, but I knew that we needed someone else, at receiver. I was told no the Bucs do not need receiver we have ASJ and VJAX and the defense has more pressing needs. Well here we are going into draft ’17 and while VH3 is a nice player….we will see if the Kelvin Benjamins of the NFL continue to physically dominate his smaller frame. Why please tell me why now after the AGUAYOGATE and taking an undersized corner in the 1st rd. WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT DALVIN COOK!!!!! He is a RB!!!! Please Please PLZ DRAFT COREY DAVIS! Or some other Receiver in the 1st Rd….. TRADE UP LICHTENSTEIN!!!!! Don’t give me the crap about it’s now or never move JOE on the radio show, if it’s about urgency and the 3 yr window then let’s get the Best receiver.

  95. LakeLandBuc Says:

They said we were set at WR last season, and we needed help at DE. So Licht drafted Noah Spence over Michael Thomas. Then drafted a kicker in the 2nd round.

  96. LakeLandBuc Says:

He drafted Spence and Aguayo in the 2nd round.

  97. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    4 free agent targets
    Dontari Poe Dt KC
    Ronald Leary G Dallas
    Terrell Pryor Wr Cleveland
    Johnathan Cyprian S Jacksonville

    Draft
1st- Dalvin Cook (if he falls) /Corey Davis or trade back for Solomon Thomas
2nd- D Onte Forman (if no cook) Oj Howard
    3rd- BPA

  98. LakeLandBuc Says:

I really believe if we had drafted Michael Thomas with the 39 pick, we could have got Noah Spence with the 59th pick.

  99. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

If we can land Terrell Pryor we would be set @ #2 wr. So then we should trade back for a relentless DE that can rush the passer and play the run (solomon thomas) There are really no OTs worth taking. But that MASSIVE C from LSU may be worth a 2nd. Ronald Leary @ RG, draft pick @ C and Marpet @ LG would help our run game tremendously

  100. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

Spence has proven a lot as far as his season on only 1 arm for a rookie DE showed heart, and developing against the run as well. But Lichtenstein just makes me nervous, and I really hope he does the right thing and does whatever it takes to get a WR in the draft AND FA wideout signing. This is when Jason Lichtenstein NEEDS to earn his living. We are on the brink as a dangerous team. Everyone knows that if we would’ve drafted properly in 16′ we as fans would be getting ready for a WILDCARD PLAYOFF GAME, at least, instead of watching the other teams and worrying about the draft

  101. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

YOUR RIGHT TERRELL PRYOR I’m on board

  102. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

Prior is young enough to be more than a short term rental, or go big for best receiver in the draft 1st round and sign DE in free agency if anyone is even available. Glazers have been cheap so I don’t anticipate blue chip free agents I see them yr after yr going after second tier guys. Which I’m sick of. I mean really everybody saw the GIANTS spend $$$ on the defense Janoris Jenkins ETC ETC step up Joel Glazer doughnut

  103. Trubucfan22 Says:

Doesnt that idiot know that running backs cannot wear the number 4 in the NFL? No single digits for RBs.

  104. Trubucfan22 Says:

You think Eli Apple legally changed his name a long time ago because he wanted to or knew he would be drafted by the Giants? Take off the tin foil hat bro.

He decided to take the last name of his step father who raised him. You moron. Stop spreading some stupid misconceptions.

  105. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I really don’t care who we draft in the first round as long as it’s an offensive weapon. I don’t want to trade up in the draft for Cook (I’d take him if he falls to us), but I don’t really understand the hate of doing so. If it was Adrian Peterson instead of Cook in this draft, would people still not want to trade up for him? If Cook didn’t play for FSU, would people not want to trade up for him? If Cook becomes a top RB in the league we’ll wish we did. I’d like to see a WR and RB in some order in the first 3 rounds. Pass rush and O Line always helps too. As long as whoever we draft is a good player it’s a win for us.

  106. USFBUC Says:

The Bucs need a WR, RB, TE, S, OLB, DLine, and Oline. Guys not wanting Cook, he is going to be an amazing RB, I am not a fan of trading up to get him but if he is still available and we can trade future draft picks for him we should.

I actually think the Bucs should trade future picks if we can grab a S, DE/DT, T/G in FA. I think our best moves would be to grab JPP, Berry, Stills, and whichever Olinemen add depth or are upgrades for us.

Our draft should grab a RB (Cook, Foreman, Kamara, Perine), a WR (Westbrook, Williams, Davis, Samuel, Jones), a TE (Howard, Leggett), and then LB, OL, DL. We should seriously look at trading our 5,6, and 7 round picks this year and for the next two years along with our first round picks for the next two years to move back into the first round two times if we can. Our team would be set for years on offense if we landed Cook, Davis, and Howard.

  107. unbelievable Says:

Some of you guys are ridiculous. We don’t need to trade picks for a running back. We simply can’t afford that luxury.

Beef up the lines (OL & DL), and get a damn WR. Those are biggest priorities by far, which Licht should attack in free agency AND in the draft. Also need a Safety. Then you can worry about TE, LB, and RB depending on how / when those other needs are filled.

The best draft picks are where value and need align, always.

  108. USFBUC Says:

@unbelievable our best RB was picked up off the streets as a FA this year, our other RB should have never been re-signed because he is a part time RB at best, and Smith is not a lock to return for us at OLB. Our offense relies on the run to setup the pass so we need a solid RB. TE we need depth for the two TE sets that we use hence the reason some of us are saying we should target those. Both RB and TE have guys in this draft who look like future studs who would be locked into their rookie contracts for several years.

  109. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

When did he change the name dumb@$$. Do you think it was just by chance that occurred the last season he was attending OU imbecile

  110. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

Idiot complaining about numbers like anyone had ever seen a WR wear 19 prior Keyshawn Johnson. Have you played a down in NFL stupid are aware of a word called exception. Do you have the inside scoop on what this young man’s choice of numbers will be??? No. So sit yo punk @$$ down wit that extra dumb@$$ gripe.

  111. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

People saying we can just find a RB in the later rounds I have a question. How has finding WRs in the later rounds worked out for us??? There comes a time when you must grab the most talented options possible. We gripe about the who’s we didn’t take last draft. I’m unconcerned with that why because I’m thinking of the potential associated with the many bad@$$ players entering this draft. Truduckfan22.

  112. USFBUC Says:

Just ran my dream draft. Traded late round picks, first round picks for the next two years, and traded back some to pick up additional picks. I ended up with:

1st Rd – Cook, Davis, Howard
    2nd Rd – A Jackson, Wormley, Orlosky
    3rd, 4th, and 5th Rds – SS, OLB, DE

Add in my dream team of FAs Berry, Pierre Paul, Stills, and Schrader and the Bucs are headed to the Super Bowl minus the OLB position which can hopefully be filled by someone already on the roster like

  113. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

“I’m sick of this Seminole obsession”. You folks really show your intelligence levels wit some of most asinine comments evers. So this organizations should disregard players because they come from a school yo bright @$$ don’t like??? We shouldn’t look at FSU as an option for players because many suckas in the fanbase aren’t fans of them. Never mind how greatly they will fist pump when said player performs well lets not look at that school because our super bright fanbase feels we shouldn’t be.

  114. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

I count three as it stands the QB,a kicker and 3rd string DB. But we shouldn’t look at One the nations best players to h3ll with the RB position because the idiot fanbase dosent approve. No wonder serve stuck for so long. Too much bafoon like karma floating around.

  115. PRBucFan Says:

Nole on Sat must be 87 lol

  116. PRBucFan Says:

Y’all can beat the drum till your blue in the face

RB will not be our 19th pick and there is zero way in hell we trade up.

You underestimate Koetter’s love for Rodgers, not to mention it’s not like Martin has been cut as of yet, and they love Sims as a 3rd down back. Other holes will get prioritized over RB with pick 1. Separate yourselves from the nole bias for 2 seconds and you’ll understand it’s just logic.

  117. USFBUC Says:

Never mind about Schraeder just saw that he signed a long term contract with Atl

  118. USFBUC Says:

To back up Nole on Sat- Cook is shooting up everyone’s draft boards after the game he had against Michigan and a defense that has several future NFL players in it. Cook is the most complete RB in the draft and already has some familiarity with our QB.

  119. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @ PR
Why u keep asking about 87? He clearly posted in this thread @ 9:39 pm? If Cook is the best player on the board AND just so happens to fill a HUGE need we should definitely take him. No matter what your Gator bias is.

  120. John Herb Says:

Didn’t even read most comments past the first 5. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. You don’t draft a running back in the first. Running backs are 1-3 year players that can be found in 3-5 rounds. # 1 needs to be receiver or bpa but no running back!

  121. Phil Says:

If he’s there when we pick we should draft him but I don’t he will still be there that late.

  122. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

John Herb thanks for making it simple, WR all the way. It’s stupid COOK will be long gone by the time the Bucs pick, this convo is pointless

  123. Eric Says:

There are four players in this draft that are worthy of trading up for. 1 Myles Garrett , DE. 2 Jonathan Allen, DT . 3.Derek Barnett, DE , 4. Malik Hooker , S…Only players to build around and the only ones Bucs should trade up for..

  124. josh Collins Says:

Fournette if he slips but Jamal Adams I next polamaulo. Take either. Best case besides cook

  125. PRBucFan Says:

Clearly I asked because I haven’t seen him comment?

lol, No… I am asking because I already know. rofl smh
