Drafting Another Edge Rusher
January 22nd, 2017Perhaps the full-time draft guru NFL executives respect most is former NFL scout and college quarterback Daniel Jeremiah, who has labeled an April direction for the Bucs.
It’s all in Jeremiah’s first mock draft of the year at NFL.com.
Of course, mock drafts are slightly ridiculous before free agency blooms in March, but the bosses at NFL.com make Jeremiah pump out many of them.
With the 19th overall pick, he pegged Tampa Bay for an edge rusher in his first mock of the season.
Charles Harris – DE, Missouri: The Bucs hit a home run with the selection of Noah Spence in the 2016 draft. Harris would give them another fastball coming off the edge, taking their defense to another level.
Harris is in the Noah Spence mold, undersized, quick and polished at 6-3, 255 pounds — and in need of work against the run.
Jeremiah did a full film review of Harris in the fall. Here’s a snippet:
What I liked: Harris is a gifted pass rusher with outstanding instincts, technique and power. He primarily lines up at right defensive end, but he will occasionally stand up and rush from a two-point stance. He has a variety of pass-rush moves. He can spin both inside and outside. He has a nasty stutter/bull-rush move, and he also possesses a violent slap/rip move. He consistently generated pressure in every game I studied. Opponents adjust their pass protection schemes to focus on him (sliding protection his way, and chipping him with a back or tight end). However, he still manages to be disruptive. He doesn’t have an elite first step, but when he gets on the edge of an offensive tackle, he can power through their outside shoulder and flatten toward the quarterback. He is also a solid run defender. He can slash through gaps and make plays behind the line of scrimmage, or stack blocks and hold the point of attack. His effort is excellent and he plays a lot of snaps for the Tigers’ defense. His gas tank is never empty.
You won’t find Joe booing if the Bucs draft an edge rusher in the first round, assuming Jason Licht doesn’t jilt America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, in free agency again.
Robert Ayers doesn’t have many years left. Noah Spence is coming off surgery, as is Jacquies Smith. And Will Gholston is a poor pass rusher.
If Licht thinks Harris or another guy is a real-deal sackmaster, then it’s almost a no-brainer to grab him. The position is that important.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:34 am
If we can get another pass rusher wow
That would bee so good
We need a stud wideout though as well.
We need to go the free agent route at wideout.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:43 am
This team is still a few years away in drafts to be really deep…but getting there.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:46 am
Gotta be honest, I like Charles Harris a lot more than Taco Charleton. Appears much quicker, more fleet of foot. And based on a small sample size, has a more developed set of moves than charleton.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:49 am
I would love to grab another DE
We have to build the wall, as one of the more infamous posters on here says. Pain must be brought to the the league next year. Sign Poe to clog the middle.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:51 am
This is ridiculous. They’re not drafting a DE in the first. They take forever to develop and they just took Spence. They need FS SS WR(2) RB DT and RT worse than they need a DE.
0% chance they take an edge rusher in the first. These mockers just prove they don’t know jack about our team. SAD!
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:53 am
Got more money than draft picks. Save the pick. DE Mario Addison/Panthers is FA with 9.5 sacks in 2016. Mario was UDFA in 2011. Same measurements as Harris, 6-3, 255, 4.70/40. Bucs got 8 DEs on roster now. Like Mario, may want use novel idea and develop our own!
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:55 am
And we’ll score 16 points a game and still fall short to the Saints and Falcons. Let me say it again the Texans and they’re number 1 defense fell short against the Pats wit Brady playing poorly because they lack offense. 30 point offense the new defense in the NFL. Watch these games today to get an illustration of what I’m talking about.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:58 am
Walter Football has Harris ranked as the third best pass rusher in the draft. I like to hold all my opinions until after the Combine but anyone that knows me knows I am ALL ABOUT the Lines!!!
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:59 am
Nos the Texans lost because they had a fraud posing as a QB. If Jameis were playing in Osweilers spot the Texans would be on the way to the QB
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:02 am
That was supposed to read “SB” not QB. I wish the Joes could install and ‘edit’ button
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:07 am
Drafting another edge rusher is not a bad idea. Will Gholston should be a starting DT.
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:07 am
@SB Precisely my dude. In all honesty, were we to go the DE in round 1 route, we could still come away with a WR/RB in 2 and 3, and Maybe even get a really good tight end in round 4, since Jeremy Sprinkle/Jake Butt could still be there.
Everything that transpires on Draft night will be contingent upon what happens in March.
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:18 am
IMO there is no bigger need than a true Speed threat at WR. That said I don’t see one of those sitting there at 19.
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:21 am
lol I was only kind of kidding last year before the draft, when I said go DE, DE, DE until we land a stud.
Rounds 1, 2, and 3.
Maybe they keep drafting them high until they can find a stud?
or
I really like Noah Spence. Pair him with another monster. Maybe they go DE!
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:30 am
SB
Yes we need speed at WR. But if Davis or Howard are gone. Draft line as we have constantly stated lol
87
I second that motion
I really like Noah Spence. Pair him with another monster. Maybe they go DE!
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:41 am
Are there that few DE in the draft who do not know how to rush the Passer and stop the run. Why do we always appear to draft a player who needs to learn to stop the run. Is tackling the guy with the ball somehow different in the NFL? Why are those DE we draft only good at rushing the Passer and we have not hit on one who can do just that consistently in the NFL. Is it Bucs Luck?
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:42 am
That is Exactly how I feel Whatda. Davis and Williams will be gone and I am not for drafting up for ANYONE. Lines are the bread that holds the sandwich together. Our bread has been soggy lately
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:45 am
I HATE soggy bread
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:50 am
@Kalind
Never rule anything out. Very good chance they draft BPA, which very well could be an edge rusher since there are a bunch of studs in this draft
@Nosbos
They have more than 1 pick lol. They can still draft offense and sign offensive players in FA. Dont just think that if we go defense round 1 then our offense is still gonna struggle
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:50 am
I havent watched anything on Charles Harris next so I guess I know what I will be doing today lol
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:55 am
Now we’re talking! Despite what everyone says, we definitely need another rusher off the edge. Ayers is getting old, J Smith is always injured, we basically only have Noah Spence off the edge that. We need another pass rusher!
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:08 pm
That’s my point Big bro You can have all the defense in the world but if the O ain’t efficient you still lose. Pop my apologies bro but me personally I’m not passing up what will be a sure thing offensive talent in the first for defensive guy that clearly will need time to develop. Gotta these weapons on the field and start developing chemistry soon as possible bro.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:10 pm
The comments here are funny. Who is the premier edge rusher playing in either game today???
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:11 pm
Drafting a DE in round 1 doesn’t help us next year. A) they won’t start (prolly will play behind Spence, Ayers, Smith and Gholston) so they’d be 5th!! That’s not a lot of snaps for development… If the do go BPA, the chances that’s an End is not high. Esp if you look at who is likely to be there. DE just doesn’t hold the value in round 1. They NEVER produce in year 1. So you’re draftin a development project instead of a player that can help us win now AND in the future.
Again, sorry, but I do disagree. I truly think it’s likely to be close to 0% that they draft a DE. (This presupposes that we DON’T sign an end. If we do that it’s a less than 0% chance.)
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:12 pm
Real talk
I’ll ride with the fantastic four
The Tandy Man
Sir Bradley
The Laughing Hyena
Grimes the Grinch
for another year. Our line needs to be addressed in a big way this year and we can via FA and the DRAFT. Need another SLB also. AGAIN with another DE I say lol
This offseason is so exciting already
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:15 pm
No player is guaranteed to be a sure thing in the draft on offense or defense. I know we need weapons but there is a very good chance that they just draft BPA and with all the defensive talent this year it is a really good chance that BPA will be on defense.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:16 pm
30 point a week offense is the new defense.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:17 pm
I tend to think Dalvin would come in And give us at least 16 or 1700 combined yards quicker than some DE could give us 6 or 7 sacks.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:18 pm
I would never mind getting an edge rusher. Again the DT position is not where teams are generally getting their sacks. The top twenty sackers were all either DE’s or LB’s/hybrids in a 3-4.
We already get 8 sacks a year from our DT position…that’s 3rd best in the entire league…at least for one player….it’s our outside rush that has been invisible since Simeon went back to whatever planet he came from. I loved that dude…not just great production but an out there entertaining personality.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:20 pm
I fully understand the theory you guys are running. Valid points I admit. BUT if those very few offensive choices come 19 are not around, why not draft highest rated lineman EVEN if it’s a DE. I’m talking BPA at that very moment and it’s a DE, you telling me your gonna be mad cuz we drafted him?
Please explain Nos Bos what say you Kalind
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:21 pm
And about that chart you put up lastnight. If you think some chart is deferred to come draft to close every deal you crazy bro. What is the purpose of building relationships thru out the league for then. And what chart are teams looking at when they trade down???
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:22 pm
If those weapons are gone fine Im all inn.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:25 pm
Nos Bos
How do we get Cook. From what EVERYONE says, hell be gone when we pick. So why breast that drum? Are you suggesting move up to get him? I’m asking as your constant banging as caught my attention
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:28 pm
I’d be good with that as long as they aren’t passing up one of the two top WRs.
Either way , between FA and draft they are going to get (in no particular order):
2 WR
2 OL
Another DB
Another DL
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:32 pm
@Kalind
A couple things. First not trying to convince you that its the right thing to do or that its for sure going to happen. Just saying its possible.
Second, no guarantee that Will Gholston will be back and even if he is he doesnt play on passing down because he is not a good pass rusher. So really he would only be competing with Jaq Smith and who knows how he will play coming off his surgery. And if he is good against the run, like Charles Harris seems to be, He will play instead of Spence.
“If the do go BPA, the chances that’s an End is not high. Esp if you look at who is likely to be there.”
Idk who is likely to be there so I cant really comment on it, but again. You cant rule out that it wont be a DE
“DE just doesn’t hold the value in round 1. They NEVER produce in year 1.”
Safe to say Joey Bosa disagrees with you
ANd honestly I dont think they will sign a DE in free agency. They signed Robert Ayers last year as a bridge player. I dont think they will bridge to another free agent. Its possible, but I definitely dont expect it to happen
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:34 pm
No such thing, As A sure thing.
And in todays games, You got Vic Beasly 15.5 sacks, Nick Perry 11 , Julius Peppers 7.5, Trey Flowers and Trey flowers with 7.
But here’s what you’re leaving out when it comes to these 4 conference championship participants, 30+ points a game offenses.
Each and every one of them has an elite Quarterback at the helm, and each of them has a stable of bonafide studs at receiver or tight end.
Packers: Aaron Rodgers – 5145 yds 64.8% Completion 46 TD’s
Wr’s and Tight ends accounted for 39 TD’s in Regular/ Postseason.
RB’s accounted for 14.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:41 pm
@Nosbos
When I posted a chart I clearly said that it wasnt official, just a fun way to get an idea of what it could cost to move up to a specific pick. Thats all. Now if that chart was official, as far as trading down goes you use the same chart. Add up to see if the value of their picks matches yours. Not that difficult to figure out. Im sure building relationships throughout the league has a lot of benefits. However if you think 1 of those benefits is to get a discount in a trade then you are the crazy one my friend
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:44 pm
We’ll see how dominant Vic is after he comes off the cycle. That dude got real thick real quick.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:46 pm
Falcons: Matt Ryan – 5,282 yds 70.1% Completion 41 TD’s
Wr’s and Tight ends accounted for 32 TD’s in the Regular/ Postseason
RB’s accounted for 25. Devonta Freeman 4th round pick – 1100+ Rushing yards 12 TD’s on ground w/ 542 receiving and 2 catches for scores. Tevin Coleman – 3rd round pick 577 yds rushing 8 TD’s on the ground w/ 445 receiving and 3 catches for a score.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:48 pm
WhataBuc how we get him. The trade partner will be Arizona. We will give our 2017 3rd to swap our first round 19 with they’re first round 13. That’d how bro. Jax is the only team in the top 10 that could sniff him bit wouldn’t make since considering they’re poor O line and already having two young RBs on the roster. Next is 14,15 and 16. Colts,Eagled and Ravens. Those are three we must jump for Dalvin’s services in my opinion.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:48 pm
Should I keep going? Because basically every team is the same situation. Not one running back in the pack that was selected in the 1st round. And Every team got more yards and scores out of Receivers and Tight ends than they did out of Running backs.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:49 pm
Dammit, just noticed trey flowers and trey flowers lol. Yeah joe when can we expect that edit button LOL
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:50 pm
Dude you post where a player as drafted until your neck bust. I bet won’t read Scott Reynold’s SR 5 report refuting all you are saying. I bet you won’t do that. Easy to pull up and fine it dude.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:52 pm
The title is “where do the Bucs go now at RB” I’ll dare you again to read it dude.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:53 pm
If need be I can load the link
Just let me know bro. Yo RB expert @$$.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:55 pm
And since you haven’t and won’t read it,I can’t respect ishh coming out yo mouth on the topic.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:56 pm
ok, you can post an article of someone saying that Rb is more important than supplying your Quarterback with ample receiving threats to stretch the field, and I can post an article of someone saying Just the opposite, and can also back it up with statistical facts.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:57 pm
but go ahead post it and I’ll give a it a look. ya pewter report supporter.
January 22nd, 2017 at 12:58 pm
Two Words to remember, Tanoh Kapassagnon, 6’7, 274, DE out of Villanova. Double digit sacks , 21 1/2 TFL’s and moved up CBS NFL Prospect board from 183 ranked to 93 in one week. Durable 5th yr SR. Should go late RD1 to High RD2 once scouts catch his combine performance.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:00 pm
If you got the cajones to pull it up you’ll notice a pic of Dalvin on the cover page.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:03 pm
It will be a DE or TE at 19 or lower (if we trade down). There IS NO Elite WR available in the bottom 3rd of the 1st Rd.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:03 pm
I ain pullin up s@$! you the master at that cutin and pastin. I gave you the name and title. Make it happen sport.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:04 pm
once scouts catch his combine performance.
Yeah Martini that’ going to shake up a lot of mocks and draft boards.
And of course the FA’s don’t hit till March. It’s not only us adjusting our draft depending on what we score in FA…it’s the other 31 teams as well.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:11 pm
@Nosbos
So it doesn’t make sense for the Jaguars to draft Dalvin Cook because of their “Poor O-Line and young RBs already on the roster”. A lot of fans think the Bucs O-Line is not very good and technically we also have young RBs on the roster. Simis is 26, Barber is 22, Quizz is also 26. So why does it make sense for us?
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:12 pm
*Sims
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:14 pm
I trust Jason Licht – period!
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:15 pm
Ok so 19 of the top 25 rushers all time were 1st round picks. That still doesn’t change my opinion, one supported by fact, that you don’t need a historic rusher to win a Superbowl. It helps yeah, but its not a requirement. All you need in this day and age really at the Running back position, is competency.
http://www.topendsports.com/events/super-bowl/winners-list.htm
Starting in the year 2001 one, there are 4-5 teams that won the super bowl with what you would call an elite running back. I think the most striking, demonstrative example’s I can give you for the modern day importance of a running back, is that the greatest running back of the past decade, Adrian Peterson, Has never reached a super bowl.
Here’s another, Of the 7 Nfl running backs to run for 2k, only Two of them won a SB.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:29 pm
Outside of the first two pucks after the Philly trade with Cleveland, these mockery were incredibly wrong last year. Good thing they’re not wagering on these mock drafts , they would all go poor.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:29 pm
Picks
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:30 pm
Mockers dang this Galaxy
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:42 pm
Bro when have you ever seen me post a 1st round RB is necessary to win a Superbowl???
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:44 pm
Exactly, it isn’t necessary.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:45 pm
And I was referencing you’re boys article.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:45 pm
Pop Quizz too small to be a 16 game feature guy. Sims dose way too much tippin for my liking. He’s nothing more than a 3rd down specialist at best.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:45 pm
Your* ……….
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:46 pm
With our first pick, I’m about 90% confident that Licht will pick either a WR or a RB or a TE or a C or a OT or a DE or a DT or a Safety. OK, perhaps a CB. Pretty sure that I can narrow down that prediction slightly once free agency ends. And before anyone asks, admittedly there is a 10% chance that Jason will grab a long-snapper, but only if he’s convinced that some other team will grab him first.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:46 pm
But doesn’t hurt your chances either now dose it.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:52 pm
I like this guy too. But if Barnett is still reachable (falls past the 10th pick) we should reasonably make the trade up. Not saying move some major picks, but try.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:57 pm
So let you tell it we should pass on a super talent because “its not necessary to winning a Superbowl”. Wow.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:57 pm
It does when you trade away valuable assets to get that player.
You see Everyone wants to dog on JL for trading away a 3rd and 4th rounder for Aguayo, which is still yet to be determined whether that pick is a total let down.
But what people fail to recall is that the 4th round pick was an extra one that we got from trading with the bears from 9 to 11. And that selecting Roberto as our 2nd second rounder effectively made him our 3rd round pick. Not that big of a gamble.
However Trading away say, a 2nd and a 5th to go up 4-9 spots For a position that can be acquired in basically every round of the 2017 draft class, would be detrimental.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:58 pm
Please open your eyes to the fact that there is special talent to be had everywhere in the first this year. On both sides of the ball.
January 22nd, 2017 at 1:59 pm
CONTINUE TO BUILD A WALL…….infamously yours!!!!
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:02 pm
@Bighoghaynes My dude! You have got to see Garret Bolles outta Utah. Look up his game vs Cal on youtube. Kid is gonna go off like an A-Bomb at the combine.
And his is one articulate guy, very well spoken, but he has that proverbial switch that flips on the field. In the same mold as our Very own Ali Marpet. He could be our new Mongo.
Look him up yo.
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:03 pm
He* is… jesus phone!
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:25 pm
I’ve heard coach K speak on a number of things since the end of the season “build the wall” hasn’t rang from his mouth. That’s y’all opinion I think he and Licht are comfortable with they have. But what have we heard??? “Get Jameis some better players to play with”(not gmc),”explosive plays” and how much we have a need for them. Need I continue??? I think you get the gist.
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:30 pm
Blake have you attended a meeting with Jason Licht??? How can you speak on what’s valued and not valued??? Yea the Falcons have a lot for Julio and not suggesting giving that much but they are about to compete for a chance to go to the show a few years later.
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:37 pm
Obviously FA is going to determine our needs and desires as the draft approaches but we definitely need a beast DE. I’m begging for it. I don’t care if we have 20 DE’s on this roster. We really have 1 maybe 2 that are serviceable. Noah is a no doubter but who else? An aging and mildly effective Robert Ayers? That’s our next best guy. I don’t necessarily think that’s a need with the 1st round pick though. It depends very much on who we get for RB and WR in FA.
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:39 pm
Have you? That most ridiculous question you can honestly ask someone?
When was the last time you have a private Convo with our Gm regarding his draft board?
It’s completely irrelevant, and you’re making a donkey of yourself when you try and use that as a point.
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:41 pm
Oh and I don’t recall Coach Koetter referencing his lust for a Rb in the first round either, the only things I recall him saying is that he wanted to Retain Jacquizz, and that he wanted to add to speed to the receiving corps for Jameis.
January 22nd, 2017 at 2:49 pm
Shut up bro. I’m not the one making claims of how certain picks are valued or not valued. And my belief that Dalvin is a major priority is based off the many talks they had with Daniel Lasco last combine. You know the dual threat runner from Cal.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:07 pm
I watched this guy and I came away less than impressed.
Solomon Thomas from Stanford, Derrick Barnett from UT, Taco Charlton from Michigan and DeMarcus Walker from Florida a state all were much more impressive defensive ends this past season
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:11 pm
Sorry guys I’m rooting for ATL today. I HATE the fudge packers
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:15 pm
See what a legit Wr2 can do for a web? Remember Matt Ryan was pretty bad last year.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:17 pm
That’s what a 30 point offense looks like. 30 point offense the new defense. Don’t feel bad GOAT I just admitted to being a huge Julio fan on the other thread.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:17 pm
I just saw that jay glazer reported that chip Kelly could replace Kyle Shanahan in ATL as OC. Thoughts?
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:20 pm
@defence rules
U realize that you just named half a team lol? I think ANYONE could comfortably say that
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:21 pm
Get Cook or a fast WR with great hands with the first pick!
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:33 pm
Exactly nosbos, this what good offensive ootball looks like. Both QB’s have legit #1, 2 and 3 receivers and have time to throw.
Oh look the pass rush just stalled out Arod…
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:33 pm
Any1 see about alarm gate this morning?
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:34 pm
Thats a number 2 receiver out there looking unstoppable.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:36 pm
Yea right there. But y’all want defenders. Boy them weapons look good.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:37 pm
They clowning they running the wild cat.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:39 pm
The Bucs need yo take ryan andersonn 1 then the best safety available #2 find a proven wr coming off his rookie contract..
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:39 pm
If they hire chip and force that BS offense on Julio they’re production going down. I couldn’t mad because that would be good for us.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:41 pm
That video game ishh don’t work in the pros.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:42 pm
From a competitive stand ponit Ihope they make that mistake GOAT. Right now Kyle got’em hummin.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:54 pm
Receivers wideo open on every play.
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:57 pm
Yeah. All those weapons you’re talking about are receivers. And they are getting open non stop, and in a hurry. We need a group of speedy weapons like that for Jameis.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:00 pm
Blake we can finally agree on that. I rather us draft Corey Davis before we draft some DE man. I want some point on board man.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:02 pm
Matt Ryan just ran in untouched for a 15 yard td, yeah Oline aint important…
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:05 pm
In Nosbos defense, why do you think the middle of the field is open? Yeah the linebackers are worried about the runningbacks both running the ball and out of the backfield. The Atlanta runningbacks are sick and I think one of them came from a certain school in Florida. Look at that.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:06 pm
Addison would a horrible free agent signing. Very inconsistent mid level player.
I can get behind drafting Harris.
Nole, your comment about defense is way off base.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:08 pm
Green bay sucks, btw. They are playing awful.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:09 pm
Which, btw…is because of their defense.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:11 pm
Or maybe Atl’s receivers are just flat out beating Gb’s coverage.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:12 pm
Tevin Coleman 3rd round pick…
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:18 pm
Jamal Charles went in the 3rd was it because poor evaluations or he was 3rd round talent??? Not. He was the best in the league prior to the freak injury. Sorry for your disappointment dude. Licht on phone wit his old orhsnixation Arizona as we speak. Welcome to Tampa Mr. Dalvin.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:19 pm
@Mike Evans GOAT Says:
January 22nd, 2017 at 3:20 pm
@defence rules
U realize that you just named half a team lol? I think ANYONE could comfortably say that.
And here I thought that folks might overlook the obvious … BUCS HAVE TONS OF HOLES AND NO MATTER WHAT JASON DOES HE CAN’T MISS.
OK, unless he grabs a long-snapper in the 1st or 2nd rnd.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:20 pm
One team has a threat to run the other dose not. Funny the team 29th the run threat is winning.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:21 pm
Great ob dude. Yet another example of a team getting a great running back well outside of the first round. 😀
Also Pass rush is effecting Aaron Rodgers tremdously. But that one blind side hit shoulda been a roughness call. That ball was long gone.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:22 pm
Defense no roster in the league is perfect. How convient will it be to say every off season”this team has do many holes”. Been hearing that weak s@$! since I discovered this site.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:24 pm
The team that had the better run game is going to win. Early signs say Atl.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:24 pm
You don’t think the great AR wishes he had a healthy Eddie Lacy right now??? Please.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:25 pm
Watching Atlanta vs Green Bay, something scary dawned on me about our NFC South division.
In 2016 Falcons had the #1 offense and the Saints had the #2 offense.
In 2015 Panthers had the #1 offense.
We get to play those offenses six (6) times every year.
Might be a good idea to beef up our defense a bit more. OK, a LOT more.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:25 pm
See Freeman catch them dump offs dude.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:26 pm
D@$! Defense I’ve only been saying that for weeks while y’all talking bout defenders. 30point offense the new defense homie.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:28 pm
Another example my @$$ those GM’s drop the ball inn Jamal Charles home boy.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:28 pm
Freeman is NASTY
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:29 pm
Blake see’em GOAT. DALVIN 3x Freeman.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:30 pm
Yeah I see the 4th round running back doing good stuff. Lets get us one of them starting running backs in the 2nd round or later! Where they will be plentiful in this years draft. 😀 and while were at it lets get a group of game changing receivers!
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:32 pm
The falcons are literally running the SAME plays I run in madden. LOL
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:32 pm
Thank they concerned about what they gave up for him now??? Really!!!.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:33 pm
Nahh homeboy gotta go shoppin in the first for one those FSU RBs this year dude.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:35 pm
No cause he is a game changing receiver. But they did have a to wait a few years for the value to show up.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:35 pm
Like I’ve said the team with the running game is winning this affair dude.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:36 pm
Everybody gotta pay they’re dues just we gone have to.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:36 pm
Falcons are dominating this game because they have to tools to air it out. We need to acquire the same caliber tools.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:37 pm
I’m just not sold on drafting undersized pass rushers. Our defense is already to small. We need to get more size, especially up front.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:40 pm
Donta.Freeman☺
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:41 pm
Cascade sort of like JPP right??? Man the impact he could have.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:42 pm
I agree Blake but seem like this week you all inn on the DE position.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:47 pm
Nope, m just open minded to many different options. Pass rush is incredibly important. Just look at the impact Vonn Miller and Demarcus ware had on last years super bowl dude.
And like I said earlier, the direction we go with our 1st rounder will be hugely affected by how free agency plays out in march.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:48 pm
@Mike Evans GOAT … “Freeman is NASTY”. Totally agree.
Freeman was drafted by Atlanta in Rnd 4 in 2014 draft. Bucs picks that year BEFORE Devonta:
Rnd 1 – Mike Evans
Rnd 2 – Austin Seferian Jenkins
Rnd 3 – Charles Sims
Just sayin’ …
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:50 pm
@NosBos … “Like I’ve said the team with the running game is winning this affair dude.” Ya right. That’s why Matty Ice has 300 yds through the air in the first half.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:54 pm
Thank you defense rules. Finally some sense being spoken. The idea that the falcons are winning right now because of the ground game is laughable.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:56 pm
See when y’all point Donta was drafted in the 4th I scratch my head because if were the football player Dalvin is no wau in h3ll would he have lasted until then. Look at Julio, think they concern wit what they gave up. 30 point offense the new defense.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:57 pm
Yeah we need Corey Davis to make plays like that for us…
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:57 pm
Devonta*
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:59 pm
Okay smart guys do you think if threat of Freeman and Coleman wasn’t present he would have 300+ yards??? H3ll no, he would look AR the QB many consider the best in the game. Try again dude’s.
January 22nd, 2017 at 4:59 pm
Please, stop comparing Julio Jones, arguably the best receiver in the league, to a college running back yet to take an Nfl snap.
You’re doing way to much man.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:02 pm
NOSBOS
I’m with you bro…I’d love to see Chip Kelly become the Atl’s OC!
Can you see Matty Ice running the ball. That TD today was what…his first in three years or something like that. He’s a great QB! He’s not a spread QB.
Chipper needs to back to college ball. NFL defenders are too smart and athletic for his offense.
Mainly I’m just thrilled if Shanahan really is gone. I hear the rumors as well and I hope they’re correct. Might as well try and throw a wrench into that amazing ATL offense.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:02 pm
You can’t show up to tournament one dimensional. That’s why AR look garbage today.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:03 pm
@Nosbos
You keep using the argument of how Atlanta traded up to get Julio Jones and gave up a lot of picks. The 2011 draft was not a good WR class. Here are the next 15 receivers to go after AJ Green and Julio Jones
Jonathan Baldwin
Titus Young
Torrey Smith
Greg Little
Randall Cobb
Austin Pettis
Leonard Hankerson
Vincent Brown
Jerrel Jernigan
Kris Durham
Edmond Gates
Greg Salas
Cecil Shorts
Tandon Doss
Kealoha Pilares
So again If the RB class this year was as bad as the 2011 WR class where Cook and Fournette are the only 2 clear cut guys I would say yes, trade up. But they just arent the only 2 guys that are going to be great RBs this year
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:04 pm
Dude you sound stupid as f@$! dude I’m done addressing yo simpl@$$.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:06 pm
Pop I can talk to you I’m done rappin wit that other idiot.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:07 pm
Sound good we need one of everything except for a punter anyway! Best player available period!nobody knows what we will need till we see what happens in F/A
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:07 pm
That’s exactly what I’m thinking St.Pete.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:08 pm
I’m stupid for stating facts? Am I wrong? Is julio jones a college running back with a. Chronic shoulder injury? Funny, I thought he was a proven veteran Receiver…
Also, for every massive trade up that works out, 2 or 3 blow up in peoples face. Like the Rg3 trade, or the infamous Ricky williams trade.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:09 pm
Why do y’all come here say stuff like that scotty we everything but a punter??? How in the h3ll Did we win 9 games this season if that’s true???
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:10 pm
Wasn’t aware that difference in opinion was an indication of lesser intelligence…
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:12 pm
@Stpete
I think Shanahan is all but gone at this point. Since Josh McDaniels pulled his name out of the running I think Shanahan is the only guy left that they have interviewed. Then with the scouting season starting to really get going this past week, they wouldve hired someone already if they werent waiting for a coach in the playoffs. IMO anyway
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:16 pm
I called you an idiot because I’ve never stated a comparison between the two individuals. You reaching dude.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:21 pm
Bro everytime you reference the Julio trade as reason to trade up for the guy you want, you are implying that he’s gonna have the same kind of impact as Julio Jones.
Which is pure speculation, and not based on facts.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:25 pm
Also, its a little ridiculous, Considering that we are in a league dominated by Quarterbacks and Receivers. And the receiver position is far more impactful than Running back.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:28 pm
Boy you See that Seminole.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:30 pm
I see the MVP quarterback slinging the rock like a man possessed as well.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:30 pm
Oh make no mistake I Am Saying He Is Going To Have The Same Impact as Julio. Yes indeedy.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:31 pm
JBF I am saying that. And stand behind this statement 100%.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:31 pm
Ok Joe and his cronies! We don’t need wr,rb,ol,dl,Cb’s or safety you all keep sacking Joe and he’ll keep stroking you!
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:32 pm
So you called me an idiot for saying you compared them, when you are comparing them. Interesting…
And now i’m saying that’s ridiculous. And we’ll see.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:33 pm
And f you stand behind that statement 100 percent, then why did you just say that you never compared them 10 minutes ago?
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:34 pm
Guess thats just me reaching again…
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:36 pm
John Ross is the weapon we need, after that I’m down with DE or RB using the BPA mindset.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:36 pm
Rodgers look goofy today because he has no threat of a run game.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:37 pm
Oh I’m done talking to you I just wanted to specify that.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:37 pm
@Nosbos
They won what? 8 straight games without a run game at all. And when you are down 30 you dont rely on the run game anyway
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:38 pm
Or maybe he’s looking goofy because Atl’s pass rush is getting the Job done.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:39 pm
All I know is that not having a running game or a #2 receiver killed us this year we need the best we can get of both. Dalvin is a great great player and if we can get him and Dede Westbrook that could transform our offense along with a veteran wide out as well.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:40 pm
Could you change your policy to being done talking period? Honestly at the rate at which you’re contradicting yourself, you may want to, before you lose more credibility.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:40 pm
I wouldn’t touch Cook any sooner than the 3rd round. Shoulder issues never really go away in my experience, even after surgery my shoulder still gives me problems when doing physical activities. I could only imagine what type of punishment a RB has to endure.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:43 pm
Says the same guy who wants Ross who played scared and timid against Bama.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:51 pm
@ndog
A couple other potential Day 2 WR to keep an eye on are:
Taywan Taylor – 6′ 1″ 195 lbs Has great speed and explosiveness like Westbrook, but bigger size which is a plus
Malachi Dupree – 6′ 4″ 194 lbs Big target with a big catch radius. He has the ability to stretch the field, but does it in a similar way Mike Evans does it. Not blazing speed but has long strides to cover distance quickly. Could be a nice pick if we sign a speed receiver in FA
Cooper Kupp – 6′ 2″ 195 lbs Good route runner with reliable hands. Not a burner but could be a good slot receiver.
There are others but these are the 3 that I like the most. Especially Taywan Taylor
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:54 pm
30point offense the new defense.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:56 pm
Oh no d@$kweed I know enjoy reading my daily post. So I’ll keep’em for you. 19 out 25 went in the first round. Thanks dude. You so insightful.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:57 pm
ndog I ain’t even wanna say anything about his lil fella John ross.
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:59 pm
Blake how bout you give is some more details from that SR5 report. Stupid. You can’t Shut someone up online, would love to see you try in person.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:00 pm
I’m in the greater Orlando area.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:00 pm
HE11 NO to john Ross. The guy looks like a middle schooler. Think Tavon Austin. Would u spend a 1st round pick on tavon Austin right now? If the answer is yes then u might need mental help lol
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:01 pm
You might be the only one who does. 0 outta the 4, well 3 remaining playoff squads have a 1st round rusher.
Matt ryan played the game of his life, and played damn near perfect, receiver constantly open. And you think you youself ” it was the threat of the running game. ”
The nerve of some people…
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:04 pm
@Mike Evans GOAT
He could be like Tavon Austin, but on the flip side he can be like Brandin Cooks. And you cant really judge how he is going to turn out as a pro based on the Alabama game. Give him a little bit of a break lol
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:05 pm
Also, ive never once endorsed John ross, then homeboy was referring to Eric.
And thats some classic interent troll logic there, some one disagrees with you, and you talk yourself in circles; then when you see how dumb you sound, “bet you won’t fight me bro.”
How delightfully elementary.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:09 pm
@NosBos … “30point offense the new defense.” Go back and look at the previous 50 SB winners and tell me if that argument really holds water NosBos. (Hint: The answer’s NO). Might also mention that the Falcons’ run game works so well because they have an incredible passing game. And vice versa. If opposing defense focuses on Falcons’ run game they get clobbered by Atlanta’s awesome passing game. If they focus on stopping Atlanta’s passing game, Freeman and Coleman eat them alive.
But you want to know where it REALLY starts? With Atlanta’s OFFENSIVE LINE. They’ve got some incredible offensive weapons for Matty Ice, but it’s the OLine that makes it all possible. (Hint: Ryan has been under almost no pressure from the Green Bay DLine all game).
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:09 pm
Just told you where I can be found since you wish I would hush on this site. Again I’m in Orlando.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:10 pm
Think,*to yourself* stupid phone.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:10 pm
Defense the NFL like everything else in life is fluid. That old defense win’s chips ain’t about mean spit this season.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:12 pm
And im telling you bro, that the simple fact you are trying to instigate a fight on the internet, over a conversation on football, exemplifies how much of a troll you’re being.
Grow up dude. You’re making yourself look silly man.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:15 pm
There’s another troll-worthy statement.
#1 defense won the super bowl just last season, against the 15-1 panthers who had a top level offense.
But that was a whole year ago guys, defensives dont matter anymore I guess…
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:15 pm
Defenses*
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:17 pm
Also, Im not trying to take anything away from Matt Ryan, but Green Bays secondary is terrible. They keep leaving Ladarius Gunter alone on the other teams #1 receiver and he is getting killed. Dez crushed him last week and Julio is eating him alive today.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:18 pm
Lets not forget the Pack are missing staters in they’re secondary. That in no run game they really didn’t stand a chance today.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:20 pm
Dude shut up. Anybody with eyes reading these post could understand why I’m saying what I’m saying. You stated you wish I would be quiet right. I responded with I would love to see you try to quiet me in person. I’m in Orlando.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:21 pm
Blake they are tearing it up on offense not because of the running game rather the balance that comes with a good running game. All we are saying is we need to improve the running game so why not do it with the best runningback in the draft in our opinion. Heck if we could improve the passing game with the best receiver, Mike Williams, I say do that as well.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:21 pm
30 point offense the new defense.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:22 pm
@Nosbos
Dude you gotta give up the run game argument with the Packers man lol. They havent had one all season and they made it to the NFC championship
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:22 pm
Thank you ndog not sure if he’s bright enough to understand you tho. He seems book geeky to me.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:23 pm
Pop recheck my list bro. I’ve stated just that all day.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:24 pm
Boy look at that killer running game? I bet those atlanta running backs averages a whole 4 yards per carry today. Definitely not the 400 plus passing yards generated by ryan and the recievers.
It was the threat of the run!
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:24 pm
But comec playoff time that inability to run the ball will rear its ugly head like it did for the Pack today.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:25 pm
Nosbos, recheck Pops statement. He’s saying that they were successful enough to get to the championship game with out a running game.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:27 pm
He don’t get it ndog key word “balance”.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:28 pm
Okay you baited me I gotta respond. With an all time great QB.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:28 pm
I “get” that you can find starting caliber runners in damn near every round of the draft.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:29 pm
But i thoyght he couldnt do it without the threat of the run dude? Which one is it?
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:32 pm
@ndog @Nosbos @Blake
Look this whole debate about draft Dalvin Cook or dont draft Dalvin Cook is all based on perspective. I think we all recognize that the running game has to improve for the Bucs, and nobody is disputing that. Ndog and Nosbos think why not get arguably the best RB available, which is 1 way to look at it. Myself and Blake seem to share the opinion of getting a starter in rounds 3-4 makes that pick more valuable then you can use that 1st round pick to get a key upgrade to another position. Either way the running game gets improved
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:41 pm
I can’t argue that Pop. I guess me and you both realize we need balance. Don’t care if we have a rookie Randy Moss and a10 year Jerry Rice don’t mean anything if we don’t have balance.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:43 pm
On the Packers got this far argument go look at who they played to get there. Lions, Bears Vikings and with an all time great QB. They are the exception not the rule.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:49 pm
@ndog
All I’m saying is with all the success they had during the season without a running game, the lack of a running game cant be blamed for that loss. Which is a fair statement
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:56 pm
And Don’t come at me saying that I don’t understand the importance of Balance on Offense, I’ve been saying that Rb is a need all offseason. Just not in the 1st round, and definitely not trading up for 1 in the 1st round.
D’onta Foreman, Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine, Curtis Samuel are all prospects that have game changing potential and should definitely be there in the 2nd round or later.
Trading away top level picks for a running back could have catastrophic repercussions in the future.
January 22nd, 2017 at 6:59 pm
However, when it comes to ranking the significance of the offensive skill positions in the modern day NFL, The wide receiver is king.
Any Football fans with their eyes open, and with an objective state of mind, should know the reason this game was a blow out, was because a great Qb had all day to throw to wide open receivers. Simple as that.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:00 pm
Imagine what Jameis could do with those clean pockets, Imagine what Jameis could do if on nearly every play he had at least one guy wide open down the field?
I can imagine it, and it’s scary boy.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:08 pm
So Blake where do you propose we get that great wide out cause Williams and Davis will probably be gone at 19 as well?
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:08 pm
@Blake
I watched tape on Wayne Gallman and I would include him in that list of names as well. The argument could be made that he is ahead of Foreman and Perine as a game changer because of his pass catching upside, but I would be happy with any of those true RBs. Admittedly I havent watched Curtis Samuel yet to form an opinion on him. I know he is a WR/RB hybrid I assume similar to Tyreek Hill.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:09 pm
That’s your perception bro. Can’t tell you how many HOF QBs I’ve heard say “a QBs best friends is strong run game”.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:10 pm
And for the record all the WR’s Atlanta has that your talking about besides Julio of course, we’re added via free agency.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:10 pm
@ndog
I named three day 2 WRs that can be potential #2/slot receiversearlier . Taywan Taylor (love him), Malachi Dupre, and Cooper Kupp
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:11 pm
How many great WRs has Brady won with??? You old enough to know John Elway right, he was great for years but didn’t win a chip until Terrel Davis came on strong.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:13 pm
But see Pop that’s my thing, people saying no to Dalvin in round one like a WR can’t be found in round two. I don’t get it.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:13 pm
sign a vet bridge #2 then 1 of those guys can be drafted and have an immediate impact as a #3 receiver and develop into the #2
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:14 pm
Pop I’m not talking to you wit that question you know I’m talking to blake.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:14 pm
@Nosbos
I agree with that. That is why I want to get one of the stud pass rushers round 1 before they are all off the board. Then there could still be valuable WRs and RBs in rounds 2 and 3
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:15 pm
Look at NE getting it done with small receivers. Wow.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:16 pm
Some teams need a stud WR, some need a stud RB. They all need pass rushers
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:18 pm
Well, To start I want us to try and address our #2 and #3 Recievers in Free agency. I was all for Pryor and Patterson until I learned of there desire to stay with their current teams.
So that leaves guys like Terrance Williams, Kenny Stills, Pierre Garcon, Desean Jackson, and I’ve heard Rumblings that Emmanuel Sanders could become a potential Cap casualty. In that case Sanders would become the big fish in the pond, I really don’t want Alshon Jeffery because of his injury history/ PED troubles + diminished production this year. But I would be satisfied with a combo of any of the guys I mentioned.
If we were able to address Wide Receiver sufficiently in Free Agency, and Cook was some how still available, then it would become much easier to stomach. Even though personally I still would be kinda disappointed. But I don’t claim to be any sort of prophet.
Personally I’d still prefer O.J. Howard, Derek Barnett, Soloman Thomas, Budda Baker, Garrett Bolles and few others to Dalvin Cook. Keep in mind that is mostly due to how deep this draft is at RB.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:23 pm
You mean Terrel Davis the Undrafted Free agent that came out of nowhere? Playing behind a physically dominant O-line that produced 4-5 different 1000 yard rushers? Including a one Clinton Portis?
And whats that argument you’re always using about all time great Quarterbacks?
But just to appease you, Tom Brady beat the brakes off of the Seahawks number 1 D with Julian Edellman, and Rob Gronkowski. Who are both great receivers.
Think about this for a sec, In Tommy B’s last 3 superbowls, there is a little foot note, With Gronk, 1 ring, without Gronk 2 losses.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:25 pm
Also, another foot note for you, In Tom Brady’s first 3 super bowl wins, he had a downright dominant defense.
Oh, and since you posed a similar question to me, It’s only appropriate for me to ask you, How many Elite Running backs has Brady needed to win a superbowl?
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:28 pm
I wouldnt be mad at an Alshon Jeffrey signing. I do think it would be unnecessary to pay the most expensive WR free agent to be a #2 receiver. And his injury history is a bit of a concern. The PED thing doesnt worry me since I think it was his first one? If not then thats a different story. Alshon and Mike Evans on the field together tho is fun to think about if u like to imagine fantasy football in real life lol
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:30 pm
Blake bro😊those guy might not have amounted to much in another system. Early on Brady relied on strong and run game. Once he mastered reading defenses the reliance on that became reduced. He’s all time bro. As for Davis well maybe if showed more in school he would’ve went higher. Maybe the dude didn’t realize what he was capable of until he made it to the pros.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:32 pm
I personally think Alshon and ME would nasty. Alshon and Marshall surely was.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:32 pm
Brady is not a good comparison for us as they play in a division with little to no offense whereas we are in a division, that after this year, has 3 MVP quality quarterbacks. So for us offense is a tad more important wouldn’t you say?
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:32 pm
Name me a running back that brady relied on. Please.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:33 pm
@Ndog I’m not the one who brought him up.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:33 pm
Okay Blake we get Prior or Jeffery in free agency you would still be opposed to doing a deal with Arizona to swap spots???
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:34 pm
And you can talk about maybes all you want NosBos.
I’m talking about what actually happened.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:35 pm
Brady is not the point Belichek emphasized the run game early in his career. H3ll its been many of them NE.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:37 pm
Okay I think I get you now. You feel we can do what Brady did with any ole RB in Fameis 3rd season. Right or wrong???
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:39 pm
I don’t. I think if given a special back that would make Fameis job a lot easier.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:41 pm
I for one am incredibly confident in Jameis, So i’m not gonna put anything past him.
And I firmly believe that the more Weapons he has to throw to, and the more time he has to throw, the better his chances of bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Tampa get.
You can try and construct any kind of straw-man argument you want out of that. But my opinion won’t change. Not my fault you don’t have as much faith in Jameis as I do.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:42 pm
Lots of Special running backs in this years draft that won’t require 3 picks to get.
Simple as that really.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:44 pm
@Nosbos
There is a lot of middle ground between Dalvin Cook and just any guy lol. Of course a special player would make it easier for him to have success, but he doesnt need a special player to have success. Plenty of names have been thrown out that can be an upgrade over what we currently have without having to trade multiple picks away.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:53 pm
Where were y’all in 2015 when he threw for 4000+??? Recall what he had that year??? The league best running game.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:54 pm
@Nosbos
He thre for 4,000+ this year with the 24th ranked rush offense
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:54 pm
Y’all not about to sale me on this notion of later round RBs. We did that wit Sims. Dude ain’t s@$! .
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:55 pm
And went where Pop??? OMG I’m glad we didn’t make the playoffs we ain’t ready.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:55 pm
Where you this year when he threw for more Yards, and more Touchdowns with no running.
Correlation does not equal Causality.
Imagine what he could do with more than 1 legit Receiver? And Another Stud Tight end?
I’m thinking 5,000 Yards and 40 TD’s personally.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:57 pm
I ain’t buying that later round RB ishh. They’re a special one in the first. And its a position of need. Go get him Mr.Licht. F@!# what y’all saying. Ain’t many special WRs if you ask me h3ll we have a talented #1 WR.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:59 pm
Yea have imagined. Someone in free agency or drafted in the second round. I imagine it All the time.
January 22nd, 2017 at 7:59 pm
@Nosbos
Charles Sims was just not a great pick. You cant expect that to happen to every 3rd round RB
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:00 pm
You know, Kinda how Matt Ryan did this year with a 3rd & 4th round RB by committee ground game?
Remember the Receiving Corps That Jameis Had to work with when he won the National Title? And how he lost in the Playoffs the year after with Dalvin Cook?
A guy who fumbled twice in the game.. But we won’t go there…
Jameis will Benefit infinitely more from a stable full of Weapons than he will from any RB.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:01 pm
WR in the first And you already have a#1 WR. That’s dumb. Not to mention you don’t have a feature back. Even dumber.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:02 pm
Yea don’t go there five fumbles buy one team tells me the game was fixed. So leave it.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:03 pm
No such thing as a sure thing dude.
Not one bit of a guarantee that DC is Successful in the pros. Don’t know why you assume that there is. Does a RB with Multiple surgeries and Lingering shoulder problems not worry you?
Because that worries me.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:03 pm
Dude you think you know more about the game than you actually do. A great run game is QB best friend not a top WR.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:04 pm
How many has he missed smart guy???
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:06 pm
How bout we get together draft night at one of those drsgt partys. I’d love to yo face when Goodell says with 13th pick the Tampa bay Buccaneers select Dalvin Cook. Florida State University.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:07 pm
So you’re saying that the Giants we’re dumb for drafting Odell Beckham when they already had Victor Cruz? or For Drafting Sterling Shepherd in the 2nd round when they already Had Obj?
How bout your favorite example, The falcons Traded away 3 1st rounders for Julio Jones, when they already had Roddy White.
And now you’re talking bout rigged games? Dude, get outta here with this silliness.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:07 pm
How many games has he missed smart guy???
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:07 pm
What if I put it like this as a different way to look at it instead of throwing random facts and statistics out there.
Lets say DE, RB, and WR are our 3 biggest needs and we were absolutely drafting those 3 positions in the first 3 picks.
Round 1: The top 3 remaining all have “A” grades
Round 2: The top 3 remaining all have “B” grades
Round 3: The top 3 remaining RB has a “B” grade, but WR and DE have “C” grades.
Is this for sure going to happen? No, nothing is guaranteed. However with how deep the RB class is compared to WR and the fact that pass rushers are so coveted in this league there is a realistic chance it can turn out like this.
Wouldnt it make more sense To get the A and B grade WR/DE in rounds 1 and 2 and get the B RB in round 3 than to get A RB round 1 and a C in round 3 at WR/DE?
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:08 pm
How many surgeries and hamstring injuries has he had smart guy?
How many touches did he have in the last 3 years smart guy?
These things add up smart guy.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:08 pm
You used Cruz as an example dude. The same Cruz who will be released this off season???
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:10 pm
Brightboy you never answered the question. Like coward I knew you wouldnt. Pop the only thing is I cant answer without seeing free agency first.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:11 pm
How many games has he missed bright boy???
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:12 pm
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2017012200/2016/POST20/packers@falcons#menu=gameinfo%7CcontentId%3A0ap3000000777861&tab=recap
So you’re telling me that with 190 yards and 2 td’s, and 50 yards and a touch down from Julio Jones and Muhammed Sanu were less valuable to Matt Ryan than 71 combined rushing yards from Freeman & Coleman.
Ryan & Receivers were responsible for 4 touchdowns, where the Rb’s got 1 score a piece, but the Running backs were more important?
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:12 pm
O.J Howard😂 now thats funny.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:13 pm
To be fair if they didnt have OBJ and Sheppard they wouldnt release him. The fact that they drafted 2 young stud receivers while having Cruz makes him more expendable
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:14 pm
Bright boy umm telling you if the threat in the backfield wasn’t present they put up those pasding yards. But then again the Pack secondary banged up sp who knows.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:15 pm
Y’all overeating OBJ. Jury still out on that stud title. A few splash plays don’t make him that. He came up really small this playoff.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:18 pm
He hasn’t missed any games during the season. But he missed several months worth of training this past offseason due to a shoulder surgery.
And in his 3 years of time with the Seminoles. He’s had 766 touches. Even if Dalvin had 50 plus plays were nobody touched him, thats still over 700 hits he’s had to take.
If his body is already starting to break down in college, What makes you think it will stop doing so in the far more violent NFL?
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:20 pm
Nosbos you have a “special” mind dude.
Matt Ryan throws for 400 yards, and gets 5 touchdowns, one of them a 15 yard rushing touchdowns. You see all this and say ” it was the threat of the run that did all that you know. ”
Wow, interesting stuff.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:24 pm
Also, In 3 years time, OBJ has more Yards, more catches, and More Touchdowns than Mike Evans.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Mikey more than anybody, and think his career will eventually overshadow OBJ’s.
But if you’re saying that OBJ hasn’t been a stud for the Giants, then what are you really saying?
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:34 pm
Has anyone talked about the fact that Licht first draft pick for the Bucs was Mike Evans? Didn’t Vincent Jackson just have a good year the year before? I think a lot of people aren’t putting enough stock in how much the Bucs are missing a good #2 WR.
When V-JAX didn’t show up this year then got hurt Licht was trying everything to get WR help. Picking up Huff after a DUI got him cut from Philly. Don’t underestimate how desperate this team is to add a good WR. That could get filled in FA but I don’t see a reliable option. Alshon Jeffery I don’t think you can give that guy much guaranteed money, he was suspended for the same thing as Doug Martin PED. I think they will go Kenny Stills or Kamar Aiken someone like that and neither of those guys will prevent them from taking a guy they love at #19.
I think they might just be as desperate to upgrade the RB position but that is much easier to do than WR.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:41 pm
Blake if you see a stud that’s you I see a cry baby. He gets more targets than anyone in the league. Should have better numbers.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:43 pm
Say what you want about his Attitude. And I’ll pretty much agree. He’s a huge Diva, but he produces with the best of them, on the Pro level that is. And you can’t take that away from him.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:44 pm
Ability wise, he is a stud dude. And if you honestly don’t believe that, then I understand a lot more now about you then I did previously…
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:47 pm
Wanna tell me I don’t know football when You think a dude who’s early career numbers rival Randy Moss’, when he’s played less games at that, isn’t a stud…
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:49 pm
LOL! Blount showing out! Damn I wish we had kept him!
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:54 pm
Patriots defense is showing out as well
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:58 pm
Hey Blake, whats your thoughts on Jordan Leggett in the 3rd?
Im thinking DE/WR 1st, get the one who was missed 2nd, and TE 3rd.
January 22nd, 2017 at 8:59 pm
Maybe RB 3rd according to whose available…..dont hate me Nosbos lol.
January 22nd, 2017 at 9:00 pm
Well… It looks like Atlanta will be opening up the 2017 season on a Thursday night in Foxboro.
January 22nd, 2017 at 9:04 pm
When Tom Brady gets hit he is avg and trust me he is avg when this happens ,but his coach never allows him to get hit…………. Talent or scheme ? You guys figure it out : The best QB’s in the NFL are all here at the end and I assure you , protection is a very big part of their success . Licht is definitely taking 3 ‘s toughness and willingness into fools territory and he has since he was drafted , this is a huge huge mistake !!!
By the way , Brady knows when and how to sneak the ball and the Bucs have a qb with no one over center on a third and 1 that turns and hands off to shuffle Martin ? Koetter this is Coaching 101 but something you definitely are missing( your not alone) and this is the difference between playing and watching.YOU Are watching and Your old team to s performing better without you !!! Why??? Well I will tell ya ,they have had a better rushing attack and better qb protection than last year and three years ago!! Hey I think the Bucs grew and the coaches did a pretty good job but when you view the playoffs it is really really easy to understand why !!! BTW Someone came in and made Matt Ryan Way better than before , I bet he has been hit less , just saying !!! Best protection of his ( Ryan’s)career and btw it’s coming up on the 4 th quarter and Brady hasn’t been touched !!! BTW they are winning and have avg talent but the best, by far coaching !!! Licht and co has had # 3 getting killed for two years and I mean killed, if 3 went to New England i assure you he would be All Pro . I just thought I would put this up during this evident stretch of playoff football.
I Hope Ex Buc Coach Bryan Cox will hit the lil premadonna and the NFC South wins the Super Bowl !!! Congrats Rah !!!
January 22nd, 2017 at 9:10 pm
Im all for repping the NFC south, but I think NE takes this one. But I’ll pull for Ryan and our former kicker Bryant. It could actually come down to Bryant’s leg to win it. Thats how close it’ll be.
January 22nd, 2017 at 9:13 pm
I just cant wait for the inevitable confidence boost this young Bucs team gets from sweeping the NFC Champions 2 years in a row!!!
January 22nd, 2017 at 9:33 pm
The Patriots have a spell over this league I just don’t understand it. They just change players, coaches, and it doesn’t even matter. I don’t even think when Brady retires it will matter cause he has all day to throw and receivers are wide open. They bring guy after guy other teams cut and they dominate. I mean is just unreal what they are doing but I tell you what once Billy B is gone the league is going to want some payback.
January 22nd, 2017 at 9:46 pm
@Mad Max I think Leggit is solid, pretty good natural receiver at the Position. And Blocks fairly Well. Not as Fast, or as polished as a blocker as O.J. is, but I think 3rd round would be pretty good value for him.
January 22nd, 2017 at 9:56 pm
And Ndog, the patriots have both an Elite Qb, notorious for being clutch in the post season, and A genius level Defensive Coach, that also understands Offensive Football concepts.
As well as that same coach having an incredible eye for talent, and the ability to develop said talent. Until such time has come where one or both of them are no longer there, they will continue to win.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:02 pm
Also, There you go Nosbos, The last remaining team with a top Level Rusher drafted before the 3rd eliminated.
And due to injury.
Where the Pats backfield is full of Guys who went undrafted.
If that doesn’t speak volumes to you about the current state of the running back position in the NFL, then I don’t know what will.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:19 pm
MadMax…yep this one’s going to be a pick’em game for me.
Psss if Atl gets more than 4 grab it.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:45 pm
@ max
D u really want the failclowns to get a ring? I hate oils much rather continue to ring check them every time they get to talking smack. Plus I figure the quicker Brady wins another ring the quicker he might retire. Plus their OC wants to stick around and take over when belicheat retires. He might have some inside information that they both want to hang em up soon
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:48 pm
Oh Im all over that 87 if they’re given 4 or more. I seriously see it as a hard fought game coming to within a few points.
January 22nd, 2017 at 10:57 pm
@Mike, I getcha, but trying to stay local and loyal to the NFC. And all I had growing up as a kid was Atlanta near me, so they were the locals. Became a Bucs fan late 90’s, and never caught on to the Panthers and actually rooted against the NFC for the first time last year because of them. NFC South is on the map, thats for sure.
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:05 pm
@NoSBoS I would link the article I found but there is one out there talking about the same point you are making offense seems to be the new direction of the top teams. The article throws some stats out there about the top defensive teams and not playing in the playoffs etc. Look for it, I can’t remember the name of the article but I just read it today.
January 22nd, 2017 at 11:14 pm
@UsfBuc
no one here is saying that Offense is not important. All you hear about these days is #WeaponsForWinston
But as Joe and many others having pointed out, Sackmasters are still an excellent resource to have, see Last years Championship winning Broncos Defense.
Would you rather have a top level DE prospect? Or trade away Multiple top Picks for a Rb?
January 23rd, 2017 at 2:33 am
If Barnet is still available at 15, I say try to move up. Noah + barnet coming up together. I think that could be very nasty.
