With The 19th Pick In The 2017 NFL Draft …

The Bucs are on the clock!

Not really, but their 2017 first-round draft pick has been set.

Luke Easterling of USA Today has been crunching tiebreaker data tonight and your 9-7 Buccaneers own the No. 19 overall pick, one ahead of the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos. A chunk of the draft order is below, and the rest is right here.

15. Indianapolis Colts
16. Baltimore Ravens
17. Washington Redskins
18. Tennessee Titans
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
20. Denver Broncos

In 2011, the Bucs selected defensive end Adrian Clayborn with the 21st overall pick. Since then, it’s been much earlier picks for Tampa Bay.

Joe can’t wait to deliver another fun offseason of draft coverage, aided big time this year by The Commish himself, Bucs Uncensored host Justin Pawlowski, a noted draft guru.

Of course, first comes the massive pile of Team Glazer loot available to general manager Jason Licht in free agency. Yes, the free agency dinner bell rings at 4 p.m. on Thurday, March 9.

It’s way too early in the process but as of right now I’d rather them have a chance to get Corey Davis and D’onta Foreman with their first 2 picks than trade up for Cook in Round1

  2. Tbbucs3 Says:

Weapons for Winston. Trade up for Dalvin Cook or Mike Williams.

  3. Rod Munch Says:

You can go here and do mock drafts where you make the pics, it’s a great way to kill some time drafting over and over again.

I have nothing to do with the site, someone here posted a couple of years ago and I bookmarked it and checked the other day and it was already up with 2017 info. The players available when you pick, their ranked list, tend to be in the general ballpark of players for the first couple of rounds so it’s a good way to know the players names at least. I had fun with it, even if it is completely meaningless in the scheme of things.

  4. LakeLandBuc Says:

WR Corey Davis Western Michigan. He have been taught by our best ever receiver coach ( P.J. Fleck)

  5. Rod Munch Says:

Tbbucs3 – In the 2005 draft seemingly everyone here locally wanted the Bucs to draft Mike Williams too… we know how that turned out.

  6. DallasBuc Says:

Joe is amazed you continue to spew this malicious-intent nonsense.–Joe

  7. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Ronald Leary must be a free agent PRIORITY. Bring some experience and NASTY to this line. I think the Chiefs can only keep Berry OR dontari Poe. So get the one they don’t keep. Brandon Williams DT from the Ravens would be AWESOME. We have the $ so I hope we spend it. But let’s spend it wisely this time. Don’t give back ups Starter $. I want the starters that other teams just can’t afford anymore. Lol

  8. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @ rod
Yeah the guy was GREAT. But I just don’t know what went wrong with the guy. Seems the he got the freeman bug.

  9. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

He was quite talented, he was just a head case

  10. Rod Munch Says:

Mike – It’s really not that easy, nearly everyone has money and you will have to massively overpay. The Bucs have a ton of room, but so will 27 other teams this time around. I just don’t see how the Bucs get FAs without vastly overpaying for them – unless Winston can personally recruit them to come here. I don’t know if Winston has that kind of clout quite yet, it might take another year or two as he’s still just a 22-year old kid – but the future is very very bright in any case, but that future might still be a couple of years away based on an early look at that 2017 schedule which is absolutely brutal. We shall see, I can see WRs wanting to sign in Tampa to play with Winston, and if that is the case the Bucs could bring in some guys – which would mean during the draft they can focus on other areas.

  11. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Plus Williams was drafted in 2010 not 2005

  12. ndog Says:

What is sad is that the FREAKING Lions are going to the playoffs this year and not one team they beat this year is going to the playoffs yet we beat 3 and have the same record. The NFL tie breakers are broken.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I guess it is time to talk draft now…wait…doesn’t free agency come first?

Coughlin should coach the Browns. At least he knows how to find a good quarterback. Otherwise, they’ll blow it again.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

@ndog Look at it this way….if we made the playoffs, we would be picking around 24 or later.

We got a winning season and we’re not picking in the 20s. Glass half full.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Mike – I don’t really know anything about the 2017 Mike Williams really as I don’t watch much college football until this time of year, but that name… it has good vibes, like with 2010 Mike Williams, and it’s got bad vibes, like 2005 Mike Williams. But not all Mike Williams are the same, but 2005 Mike Williams, everyone was very high on – the Bucs just had to take him 5th overall, but he had just sat out a year of football and had weight issues. The 2010 Bucs Mike Williams was a steal in the 4th round, then sort of just disappeared – might have been a Freeman like decline, just without the huge weight loss.

  16. LakeLandBuc Says:

1st: WR Corey Davis, Western Michigan. 2nd: DT Carlos Watkins, Clemson. 3rd: RB Wayne Gallman, Clemson. 4th: DE: Daeshon Hall, Texas A&M.

  17. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I’m so much less interested in the draft than years past, but I view that as a good thing. It’s going to be a long offseason, but we are undoubtedly going to start next year with some really high expectations. Go Bucs!!!

  18. Rod Munch Says:

ndog – Wow, I didn’t even realize that. So the entire season came down to the Lions beating the Rams in week 6 by 3 points. The Lions beat common teams, the Bears (1-1), Rams (1-0) and New Orleans (1-0), the Bucs meanwhile beat the Bears (1-0), spilt with New Orleans (1-1), which mean the only other common team was the Rams – and in week 3 when the Bucs played the Rams, Dirk hadn’t figured out how timeouts work and the game ended with Jameis at the Rams 4 yard line. That 4 yards keeps the Bucs out of the playoffs. Ugh, I just never bothered to look it up until now… wow.

  19. USFBUC Says:

Not saying the mock draft sites are right but the top WR are consistently gone when I run the mocks. Good news though Cook is always available. If these mock drafts are right we will need to draft a RB in the first round if we want one of the elite backs. In my mock drafts I have been able to grab Cook, Pocic, and Westbrook with the first three picks almost every time.

  20. LakeLandBuc Says:

It was the holding penalty on Jude against the Raiders that kept the Bucs out of the playoffs. If you want to single out one play, that play stood out because it was 4th and goal, and the Bucs held them to an incomplete pass.

  21. LakeLandBuc Says:

Chip Kelly has been fired by the 49ers, he have been fired by two separate teams in back to back seasons. This is the same guy that the Glazers were throwing big bucks at in 2012 to become their Head Coach.

  22. Mike Johnson Says:

To early yet guys. But I would not give away a 2nd and 3rd rder just to trade up. Be patient. And who says we won’t draft a lineman?

  23. Deminion Says:

Davis don’t be there 🙁 Cook looks amazing ! BPA I’d like Oline Help in FA I like Westbrook in the second or isiah ford in the third.. still need DL help

    —————-
And I told ya from the very beginning he didn’t belong on the field but I’m stupid ignorant.

  25. Biggun Says:

Here’s where Glennon’s value comes to play… A lot of teams in need of a QB time to start dealing… As much as I like Glennon to stay in a Bucs Uni… I really like to see him be a starter somewhere and Winston looks to be durable so let’s get some picks for Glennon.

  26. ElioT Says:

    Best player available.

There are front line needs at:
    WR
    OT/G
    RB
    S
    DE
    DT
    TE
    KR/PR

Then go ahead and add the depth needs into the equation.

This team isn’t one player away from anything.

Stand firm at 19 and take THE BEST player.

    Go Bucs!!!

  27. Born again Bucs fan Says:

    #draftJohnRoss

  28. ndog Says:

Big gun Glennon is a free agent so no one is going to trade for him when they can just sign him in 3 months.

  29. Rod Munch Says:

Biggun – The Bucs would only get a pick for Glennon IF he signs a huge big money deal like Brock did last offseason, which isn’t out of the question since Glennon is better than Brock, so that has to happen AND the Bucs can’t sign a bunch of FA’s.

With all the money the Bucs have it’s unlikely they won’t sign anyone in hopes of getting a mid-round pick in 2018.

If Glennon for some reason wanted to stay in Tampa then by all means keep him, but he’s got more than enough talent to start for somebody. Arizona, Buffalo (if they want a traditional passer instead of a QB like Taylor) and perhaps the Jets if they’re not sold on their young guys. The 49ers and Browns also need QBs but you figure they’ll draft one in the 1st round so doubtful they’d get Glenn him on a longterm deal. Maybe Chicago as well – depending on what happens with the coaching. Heck maybe even the Jags too if whoever comes in doesn’t want to deal with Bortles anymore, but I think that’s unlikely – although I’d rather have Glennon than Bortles.

Hopefully Mike does well for himself and gets that big deal – but it’s been a while since he played so I’m not sure if he will or not. To me Arizona seems like the perfect fit, they could sit him for a year if Carson sticks around and have someone ready to go, or they could play him right away as it looks like Carson’s arm just suddenly stopped working.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

….oh and Houston of course, that would be another team Glennon could step in on day one and start with – but I doubt they’ll want another 6′ 7″ QB that had limited success. But then again Houston passed on Derek Carr because his brother failed there.

  31. Buc1987 Says:

    OL or WR.

    Don’t care which one.

  32. DB55 Says:

Make a trade w Cincinnati. This will be the 10th of 10000000x I will post this.

  33. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @ rod
I’m pretty sure he was coached by Bill O Brian @ one point. So Houston could be a possibility

  34. ManzielMadness Says:

    @Lakeland

Agree about Corey Davis, haven’t looked too much at prospects but he looks like a stud who’s willing to work hard.

  35. SB with Jameis Says:

Holy COW!!!! Mike Johnson is Still pretending to be a Bucs fan. I hope Kobe, and Big Hug don’t follow your lead, Mike.

  36. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

With the 19th pick in the 2017 NFL draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Christian McCaffrey RB/WR from Stanford.

He is perfect for what we are missing right now. He is made to play the slot and also will be a good RB. He has a ton of talent and has the DNA to succeed. I would be stoked if we ended up with him.

Corey Davis won’t be there at #19 but McCaf could be. Davis is the real deal though. I personally hope Licht is aggressive in this draft and trades up to at least #12 with Cleveland’s 2nd pick to have a chance at a guy like Davis or a DB. There isn’t an OL worth a top pick, maybe at 19 but not before that.

  37. lurker Says:

i say trade down and pick up a second or future #1.

  38. Buc Fan in NC Says:

Best player available other than QB or LB. Don’t get stuck drafting only for need. After I think about it. All those positions are need

  39. SB with Jameis Says:

First Winning SEASON in a Decade guys!!!!!!!!

  40. Bucfaithful Says:

Bucs should sign a Pierre garcon to be our wr2. We should also add a veterans running back to throw into the mix. I’m the draft we should go defensively heavy and use our top 3 picks on defense. That would upgrade our defense to elite and make us big time players in the NFC

  41. SB with Jameis Says:

I sat through 26 straight losing game along with 14 losing seasons and I NEVER strayed the Course

  42. SB with Jameis Says:

I am not a very good Sailor though. Let that be known

  43. SB with Jameis Says:

Yeah………That is some Ish to think about.

  44. Shadow man Says:

  45. Logan Says:

    @SBwithJameis
the bucs had a winning season with Raheem and the youngry bucs in 2010. The year we thought josh Freeman might be the real deal.

We’ll have to trade up of course but we’ll not need to think about DE for at least 5 more years with him and Spawn.

  50. Shadow man Says:

The tight ones are gonna take our wr?! Dammit trump

  51. The bucfan 88 Says:

With the 19 pick in the 2017 draft the Tampa bay buccaneers select CAM ROBINSON, OT Alabama this guy is a maler he moves anything infront of him and can help our running game a lot and keep Jameis clean if we can’t get him find away to get Terron Armstead or Cordy Glenn in Tampa in that case I would want mike willams with the 19 pick

  52. Rojas Says:

IMO, Corey Davis or Quentin Nelson

  53. J$Mac Says:

With the 19th pick we drafting Cook for certain with the recent exposure of Doug Martin but in the second round I think we get DeMarcus Walker in here if not in the first. I like Elliot so no need to draft in the secondary and we need a young fresh body like Walker that can move around the front and provide relief. In the later rounds I like drafting more offensive line and linebackers. We need a few linebackers for the depth chart and we could use offensive line help still as well like a Center in the third and a Right Tackle or left in the fourth. Linebacker again in the fifth round and the seventh round

  54. Jersey Buc Says:

Use cap money to get free agent weapons for Winston, and that includes any left/right tackles on the market as well as WR. Use draft to build the defense…still need pass rushers, corners, free safety and a monster DT to help stop being gutted up the middle. Draft will be loaded with premium defensive talent. More so than offensive talent. Washington and Alabama alone, have several excellent prospects on defense. And will somebody please talk to Hayes and Smith (provided he’s still here) about standing Spence up on 3rd and long. Absolutely wasted the kid’s quickness by having him line up too wide, when his hand was in the dirt. He’s quick, not fast. Not strong enough to bull rush anybody. Needs to line up close enough to create a sense of urgency for left/right tackle. He’s at his best, when he lines up just off the tackles outside shoulder. Clearly didn’t take advantage of his “get off” on the snap.

  55. Oxycondoms Says:

    @jameis dungy

I wouldn’t minding scooping up their Kendall wright if they let him go in free agency

  56. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

@ Shadow man – I hate to say this but you sir are the idiot on this one. Nobody, and I do mean nobody, has Cook falling to the second round. Most of the mocks I have seen have him going in the first with the 9th or 10th pick. To come out and call guys idiots when you are obviously uninformed is foolish. All you have to do is google mock drafts 2017 and you will see Cook on every board going somewhere between 5th – 18th and the majority have him going around 9 or 10.
