Bad news on tight end Cameron Brate.

Tampa Bay fans saw Brate get drilled in the lower back Saturday and leave the Bucs-Saints game after catching his league-leading eighth touchdown (among tight ends) of the season.

It turns out Brate aggravated an existing injury unbeknownst to most.

Dirk Koetter spoke on the Buccaneers Radio Network today and said that Brate entered the game with “a sore lower back/upper hip area” and was “battling that for weeks.”

Saturday’s hit was just too much to an already wounded area.

“He really aggravated that to the point he couldn’t even sit down,” Koetter said. “He’s still very sore today as they come in for meetings.”

That sure didn’t sound like a good omen for Sunday. Joe wishes Brate well. The Bucs will need him desperately against the Panthers.

Battling this for weeks? TE TD leader? They better SIT his ass (if possible) next week.

    Rest him.

As long as it’s not a disc issue. Hopefully just a broken bone like Brad Johnson or Tony Romo.

  9. LakeLandBuc Says:

The season is over with, it don’t matter if he plays or not. If the Bucs win, they still will not go to the playoffs.

Tailbone injury, huh? Don’t really have to draw a picture.

What a bunch of cramping clamps in this thread. My God, what an embarrassment to Tampa Bay some of you are.

Play ’em if he’s good. Let’s go win a game here!

  12. Waterboy Says:

All depends on the Dallas/Detroit game tonight, if Dallas knocks off Detroit then they should play him this week if he can go. But if Detroit wins they’re pretty much eliminated from the playoffs so don’t even risk any further injury to him.

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Do NOT play him. Last thing we need is risking him to surgery.

LakeLandBuc, it doesn’t matter if we can make the playoffs. We can still get a MUCH DESERVED winning season.

Bucs had one of the three toughest schedules (again) in the NFL. Given the stage of their development, a winning season would be very, very encouraging going into next year…and it would sway actual decent free agents to come to tampa.

One huge diff between us and Dallas is they have 3 first round picks on the OL. The difference of a second and a half per snap can make the diff between Brady and Bortles.

I wouldn’t mind being the doctor on his tailbone..:)

    LMFAO on the last comment.

I agree with Bonzai. Season is toast. But for the first time in a long time I really enjoyed watching the games. I’m happy. Reload in the offseason and Hit the 17-18 season hard. Go Bucs
