Koetter: “I Don’t Know … And I Don’t Really Care”
December 11th, 2016Who does a national interview better than Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter?
The man stars as himself, “big mother f@#%’n stick” and all. No hint of BS.
Joe’s already quoted chunks of Koetter’s recent chat on SiriusXM NFL Radio with Tim Brown and Alex Marvez.
Among the many questions was one regarding facing the Saints twice in three games. The Bucs play them today and again on Christmas Eve in New Orleans.
Marvez: … What are the benefits and what are the negatives of having to face a team twice in three weeks?
Dirk Koetter: Well, I’m going to tell you an answer that you might not want to hear: I don’t know, and as I sit here today, I don’t really care. [Two games] from now means nothing to us.
On Wednesday, Joe asked Koetter if, as a playcaller, if he would have the next Saints game in the back of his mind today when it came to showing all his cards and possibly holding back some looks.
Koetter quickly started shaking his head and nearly cut Joe off. His answer was basically a big fat, “No.”
Joe hopes Bucs players will feed off that now-or-never mentality.
But it is an interesting scheduling quirk. Bucs tight end Cameron Brate said on Sirius last week that he loved the scheduling. Brate believes game-planning against the Saints defense will be much easier for Koetter in Game 2 (Christmas Eve), and Brate said he looks forward to reaping the benefits of that on the field.

As of right now, Koetter is a close 2nd to Chucky as my favorite Bucs coach ever; but, I think Koetter is quickly becoming my #1.
I love this guy.
He is the perfect coach at the perfect time for our organization.
Just like Jameis is the perfect QB to lead us to the promised land. Multiple times

No need to hold anything back just because we play N.O. again in 2 weeks. Just let the game unfold and call plays that give us the best chance to win. We can add a couple wrinkles in 2 weeks. The Bucs are a better team than the Saints so we just have to do what we do well and concentrate on limiting mistakes. That approach should win us both games.
Go Bucs!!

If we can sweep the Saints, we might just win the division.
A 9 win season? We sure could use a winning season, playoffs or not.
I’m hopeful.

Koetter Family History. German (Kötter): status name for a farm laborer who lived in a cottage or hovel with no land, from an agent derivative of Middle High German and Middle Low German kote ‘cottage’, ‘hovel’ (see Koth).
