Galling Home Losses Continue

November 4th, 2016
More losing at home.

More losing at home.

It is getting to the point that Bucs fans are ready to wing an empty whiskey bottle into moving traffic rolling down Dale Mabry Highway.

Why? Because that tomb of a stadium known as the Den of Depresion continues to torment Bucs fans. Specifically, the way the Bucs play at home.

After tonight’s loss, the Bucs are now 3-17 at home since former Bucs commander Greg Schiano was fired. That has to be the worst home record of any professional sports franchise in North America.

How bad has it gotten? Joe understands Team Glazer has offered to play its home games on the road next year. In China.

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter spoke about this and he feels the pain of Bucs fans.

“Trust me, whatever frustration anybody else has you can multiple that by 200,000-times for me,” Koetter said. “We have to do better. The crowd was ready to roll.”

A week from Sunday the Chicago Bears visit the Den of Depression with their expected sea of fans with a healthy bratty Jay Cutler at quarterback.

The way Cutler sliced up Minnesota recently, and with the memories of Derek Carr and Matty Ice going Dan Marino on the now-sieve of a Bucs defense, the next home win doesn’t appear to be anywhere in near sight.

As a season ticket holders. I am done, I am no longer going to spend my hard earned money on this piece of crap they call a team. I blame light for bring in the players and I blame the coaching get staff. Screw you bucs. I am putting my money with the lightning. At least they show that they want to win and not rob people blind with taking their.money and not even being competitive.

  2. Warthog Says:

I just wanna say this: I got ultimate respect for those of you who show up at Ray Jay and watch the bucs poop their pants over and over.

    That’s dedication.

I live 10,000 miles away so I can’t be there very often. For those of you who go to every home game – I tip my hat to you. It must be tough.

  3. DanTheBucsFan Says:

I, at least, appreciate the fans that do show up.

  4. I'm tired and 87 is right Says:

J I understand how you feel. If I told you why I suffer through this team it would make a drama. Alls I can say is traveling across the coast to represent this team meanwhile causing grief between my wife and I has made me madder n hell! Show me passion because I feel you fans!

  5. DanTheBucsFan Says:

Why are all of my posts “awaiting moderation” lately?

  6. PRBucFan Says:

    Pffft

    “Having trouble winning?”

“NO PROBLEMO! Come win in Tampa Bay.”

  7. mike10 Says:

    Joe,

Can you please have someone on your site, maybe an ex NFLer that can explain how a team can have so much trouble winning at home… does a team really ‘need to learn how to win @ home?’

  8. Hawaiian Buc Says:

This loss today had nothing to do with being home or away, but they were just beaten by a better team. We don’t have really good depth to begin with, but now we are relying on depth to our depth. We are now on our 5th string RB. Let that sink in. Jameis is throwing passes to freaking Freddy Martino!!!! Cameron Brate is a nice story, but he’s at best a backup TE for most teams (if he even makes the roster). Our OL is average. Nothing great, but nothing special. Defensively, we don’t have enough talent, and on top of that we don’t play together as a unit. No one player on defense can make a defense great. Not even 2 or 3 players can do that. We’ve got 3 above average players on defense that could start for any team. The rest are average at best. That’s not good enough. Our safety play is horrendous – particularly from Conte. He couldn’t cover me, and trust me that’s bad.

Everyone can play the blame game all they want. Blame GMC, blame Jameis, blame Koetter, blame Lavonte, but those guys aren’t the problem. The problem is the guys around them aren’t very good, and even some of our more talented players are injured. It’s just a recipe for 6 or 7 wins (maybe). I knew this was probably the case headed into the season, but it still hurts to see it unfold that way. I guess I was hoping with a little luck we would avoid injuries and some of our average players would play above average. I should have known better I guess.

  9. Defense Rules Says:

Good analysis Hawaiian. Think you’re being a bit generous though with our OLine. No way that it’s ‘average’. Our center & 2 Guards … yes (maybe even a bit above average). Our 2 tackles … they’re both playing horrible & will get Jameis killed if they keep this up. Not sure what’s happening to D. Smith but he looks much worse this year than last year. Dotson has never been anything but a backup in my opinion … slow to react and not strong enough (he is tall though). Beyond that, we need LOTS of help at all offensive positions other than QB.

Our defense has turned into a joke. A large part of that is obviously lack of talent, but also noticed last night that we’re leaving huge holes in pass coverage as each play unfolds … like monster holes (especially out on the flats). Don’t know whether that’s as a result of blown assignments or by design (I suspect both actually). In any event, it ain’t working. Our secondary (and LB pass coverage) has to rate as the worst in the NFL. They just don’t play well together.

Really hard to get excited about a team that plays this bad. Injuries have certainly made it look worse than it probably is, but good heavens, this is not a good product. And that comes back to ownership and management: they haven’t given these coaches much to work with.

Home win?? The next win doesn’t appear in sight. Period.

  11. softastissueMcCoy93 Says:

Over last 3 years I’ve paid a grand per home win. I am not renewing. My wife rubs it in may face after each home loss. I filled out a customer compliant card tonight, I told the young lady to screw Jason Light and this roster.

  12. Name Required Says:

Sadly, we dance the season-ticket dance to honor the memory of a dead close relative. The price hike combined with the putrid product makes me think we’ll just light a memorial candle on Sundays instead while watching a 70-inch TV in full air conditioning while guzzling store-bought six-packs and eating real Cuban sandwiches for the price of a single can and a fake Cuban (how dare you, Aramark) in the Den of Depression.

  13. FortMyersDave Says:

Name Required is right: the RJS Cubans sandwiches are as bad as those ones you can get at 7-11 for $4.49 though at 7-11 they at least serve it phot off the press! Doubt if Aramark will many of those next season, except to drunken fans of other teams.

  14. Joseph Mamma Says:

How many years did Koetter sign for? Anybody know or was it not announced?

  15. Tampa Tony Says:

If I lived in Tampa I’d never go to a game not even if it was free. Not even sure why I watch any longer

I guess it’s just dumb hope that this team will improve one day

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

@Tampa Tony- I suffer the same illness. It’s called masochism!

  17. University of Seffner Says:

The Propaganda in the offseason won’t be as effective as it was last offseason. Last year everyone expected an improved team, and of course the Bucs Media played the same tune. This upcoming offseason, the Bucs advertising Campaign will be as effective as bringing a knife to a gun fight. Unfortunate reality…☹️️

  18. America's Commenter Says:

Is it too early to revisit Jason Licht’s “Grand Slam” 2015 draft class? Donovan Smith has been downright awful, he looks more like Charles McRae than Paul Gruber. Kwon Alexander isn’t the same player without the PEDs, he plays more like Jamie Duncan than Hardy Nickerson. But most of all, Jameis Winston, the can’t-miss, NFL-ready, #1 overall pick, is more Trent Dilfer than Doug Williams.

When we take a step back and realize that Jason Licht also whiffed on 2014 second-rounder Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, we start to see a pattern. I know it’s early to project the 2016 draft, but Vernon Hargraeves is making Toast Jenkins look like Ronde Barber and Roberto Aguayo has fans longing for Bill Capece.

Then there are the crazy veteran personnel moves: Cutting Darrelle Revis and Donald Penn. Trading away Jeremy Zuttah, Mark Barron, and Johnthan Banks for peanuts. Signing Anthony Collins, Michael Johnson, Josh McCown, Alterraun Verner, Bruce Carter, and J.R. Sweezy to huge money contracts. Not trading away Mike Glennon at the height of his value.

If the Bucs had just kept Penn, Zuttah, Barron, Revis, and Barth, they wouldn’t have had to invest all of those 5 premium draft picks in replacements. Those picks should have been used on players to fill other gaps or provide depth on the lines.
