“Full-Go Is Full-Go”
November 11th, 2016Joe is just getting hammered on Twitter with questions from Bucs fans willing, wishing, hoping, praying Joe tells them Doug Martin will play Sunday.
Joe can’t say that.
Martin has been limited in practice all week. That fact alone means Martin’s status for the Chicago game as of this very moment is somewhere below 50 percent (you pick where).
Later today, the Bucs will declare who is out and who is not for Sunday’s game. Then, 90 minutes prior to kickoff, we will learn who will be active and who won’t be.
If Martin is still limited in practice later today, it seems dubious he will be available. Yesterday, Dirk Koetter shed light not specifically on Martin’s recovery, but on how he views players who are declared available to play after Friday practices.
“Like any player, when they come off the injury report as not restricted, as full-go, so, full-go is full-go,” Koetter said.
“And if you’re up for the game, if you’re up on the 46-[man roster], that might mean 64 plays. Well, what if you’re the only guy left? You can’t go in thinking you’re going to play a guy 10 snaps because he might end up being the only guy. You just can’t do it that way. That’s why the probable, doubtful [injury statuses], that stuff’s out the window on game day.”
So let’s start doing some math here. Martin has yet to fully participate in practice. If a guy cannot fully take part in a practice three days before gameday, it’s sort of a stretch to think he would be log every snap on offense come gameday.

Agree with you Joe. It’s “sort of a stretch to think he would be able to fully take part in logging every snap on offense come gameday.” At this point in the season, if Doug tweaks that hamstring again he’ll be pretty much out of it for the rest of 2016.

Not to sound negative, but I have my doubts about just how effective he will really be when he does come back.

Give the rock to Mike James and let Dougie heal another week.

Doug the Decoy this week is my guess…keep the Bears and everyone else guessing. Things would get awfully ugly with a 3rd straight home loss…

He will not play, Vegas thinks that which is why the bears will be a 3 point fave going into sunday! Do you know how much coin has to be bet against a team that opened as a 2 point fave to end up such a dog? Huge! Everyone expects the Bucs to lose and that tells me that the people in the know simply know that the Bucs will not have #22 thisw eekend. This team is bad at home anyways, chances are Aguayo misses an XP or a FG to win the game late…. Tough being a Buc fan right now, especially when they look like they will go 0-8 at home and 4-4 or 3-5 on the road. Pathetic!

Martin is unreliable and can’t be counted on… Sure he will play again this season but end up on ir within a couple of weeks… Bad signing should have been replaced good runner when healthy but that is rare… Bucs need to stop overpaying part time players like mccoy, McDonald’s and Martin

Should have franchised him like 33% of us insisted.

I dont think they will let Martin play this week. I expect him and Quiz back on the field next week with Mike James as well because they are gonna be running heavy again on the road folks. We could go on a run finish strong behind the run if Quiz and Doug come back fully healthy. I think James will play good enough for us on Sunday. Lets see what James has to offer before we rush Doug out there. I think we finally get that home win against the Bears this week because Winston and Evans are gonna ball out against their I promise those two will look like Pro Bowl talent after this game and so will Cameron Brate book it. GO TAMPA
