Crumbs
November 25th, 2016Joe remembers reading about the famous national-championship drive America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, made as a freshman at Florida State.
As he was about to take the field of the Rose Bowl for that soon-to-be historic drive, his coach, Jimbo Fisher, instructed Jameis to take the “crumbs.” In other words, take what the defense gives him, even if it is five-yard passes.
It seems Jameis was echoing those words this week when he discussed facing the ferocious Seahawks defense.
“The biggest challenge for me is not playing out of the game plan,” Jameis said. “Their defense is a very tenacious defense and they’re going to do what they do. My job is just to not play above my head and just take what they give.”
This sounds very similar to when the Bucs beat the Stinking Panthers on Monday Night Football. Dirk Koetter basically took the ball out of Jameis’ hands and the Bucs went old school Woody Hayes and pounded the ball. Jameis was asked after the game about not being able to put the game on his shoulders and if he was frustrated. Jameis replied, “Do your job.”
It seems on Sunday, Jameis’ job may be more to hand the ball off — and keep the ball away from Richard Sherman — as much as possible.

No question that the Bucs will have their work cut out for them against Seattle. Seahawk’s defense is ranked #1 for least points allowed (average 17 per game). Very impressive, but their game against the Bills really opened my eyes. Bills had OVER 40 minutes time-of-possession, rushed for 162 yds and threw for another 289. Seattle had only 33 yds rushing and threw for 282 yds. Bills converted 12-of-17 third downs and had only 1 turnover. By every measure the Bills outplayed them big-time … yet the Bills lost 31-25. The reason? Wilson had a great game passing (20-of-27) and he mixed up the short passing game & deep passes very nicely. Seattle was ahead 28-17 by halftime and none of their 4 TD drives took over 7 plays (average was 5 plays … quick strike?). Scary. Even if the Bucs offense can control the clock (like Bills did), the Bucs defense will have its hands full. Still believe though that Seahawks can (and will) be beaten.

Defense
Good stuff. N any given sunday buddy. Thats why we watch the games, anyone can beat anyone. Go bucs
November 25th, 2016 at 7:54 am
Watch him throw for 350 yards and 3 touchdowns with zero picks. The mind games have begun.

It was a good thing fsu played the 4th best team in the sec that game
Auburn had some many fluke wins to get in that game.
Lsu Bama and Uga were all better teams
November 25th, 2016 at 9:52 am
@ destin
If those team were better, then they would have played for the national championship. If those team were so much better, one fluke play would not have beaten them. Sounds to me those teams were even and a lucky bounce or fluke play as you called it tipped the scale. The giants beat the 16-0 patriots. Sorry but history does not remember the patriots as the best team. History does remember the giants as superbowl champs though.
November 25th, 2016 at 9:54 am
@destinjohnny, another in a long line of SEC cursed with myopia. Suck it up buttercup.
November 25th, 2016 at 9:56 am
Well lsu beat auburn by 24 points to start
Georgia dominated them had 5 turnovers and still should have won.
They lost on a fluke play when a ball bounced of the Georgia players helmet.
Then how many kick sixes have u seen ?
November 25th, 2016 at 10:25 am
@ destin
Auburn was ranked #7 and georgia was 25 going into that game. Also auburn was up by like 21 pts during that game. It took a fourth quarter rally by georgia to set up the miraculous play. So no, georgia did not dominate 5and there was only 1 turnover. As for the kick six, if alabama was so much better, then one fluke play would not have beaten them.
November 25th, 2016 at 10:51 am
And lsu?
November 25th, 2016 at 11:00 am
Even the texas a&am game was a fluke win that year
Was just one of those years for auburn.
But hey give em credit they beat 4 teams that had more talent then them
That year
November 25th, 2016 at 11:04 am
Huh? Lsu only won by 14. They did however lose 3 games. How is that better than auburn who lost only one game not including the national championship.
November 25th, 2016 at 11:12 am
Let me get this straight, Georgia was 8-5, Texas a & m 9-4, Lsu 10 – 3 and Alabama 11 – 2. All these teams had a worse record than Auburn and yet you are trying to convince me that they were the better teams that year just because auburn made plays when they had to? When does your comedy central hour stand up special come on? I would really love to see it.
November 25th, 2016 at 11:25 am
The only reason auburn was in that game was because their assistant coach and knew fsu signals. Once they figured that out and covered them up fsu moved the ball at will. Every starter on that team has played in the nfl. They would of beat any other team that year.
November 25th, 2016 at 11:36 am
Fsu was the best team that year period. Destin is trying to downplay fsu achievement by be-littling auburn writing nonsense like a 8-5 team was better. What happen during the 4 other non fluke loses georgia had?
November 25th, 2016 at 11:56 am
Not trying to downplay anything that year.
No way was auburn the best team in the sec that year.
Not even close.
Lsu
Bama
A@m
Uga
Then auburn.
November 25th, 2016 at 11:58 am
It was a funny year you almost have to throw out the records.
Bama or lsu would have smoked fsu that year
The other teams it would have been a toss up vs noles
November 25th, 2016 at 12:58 pm
Those teams were better yet they had more loses than auburn. That makes perfect sense. And when you say smoked, do you mean how bama was smoked in their bowl game?
November 25th, 2016 at 1:23 pm
Yep they didn’t show up no excuses from my squad
But when your noles win 16 national championships
4 out of the last 7 we can talk.
Let’s go ahead and talk trash on
Kelly slater
Micheal Jordan
Babe Ruth
Vince Lombardi
Bear Bryant
Nick Saban
While we are at it
November 25th, 2016 at 1:56 pm
Who’s talking trash? I see you are. Im talking truth and in 2013 the truth is auburn was the best team in the sec and florida state was the best team in the nation. Deal with it. I understand more clearly now. You did not tell me you were a bama fan ie roll tide. That makes sense why you are hating on auburn. You have peaked my interest. Please tell me why auburn was not deserving of the national championship with cam newton. Im dying to hear this.
November 25th, 2016 at 2:32 pm
No problems with au at all.
They played a great game against the noles and were in position to win.
They had more luck than I have ever seen a team have that year.
Ask anyone who follows the sec about that year and everyone agrees more flukey stuff happened that year then they had ever seen with au.
The sec that year was rugged.i feel like lsu was the best team in the nation that year and we beat them.
Acc has been really solid the last 2 years but that year it was a one team Confrence. So when U say a team had 3 or 4 loses I get it.
Go back and look at the players drafted that year from the league.
Also I feel like if bama and Clemson would have played 10 games last year they would have split 5/5. Dabo will be the next bama coach.
November 25th, 2016 at 2:47 pm
You did not answer my question bama fan. I asked you to tell me why was auburn and cam not deserving of the national championship they won. Obviously with you being a bama fan, you hate auburn which can skew your preseption of reality. Why was cam flucky in your opinion? Btw….you are wrong about 2013.
November 25th, 2016 at 3:01 pm
Ya cam was the man clearly.
He pulled of huge comeback against us.
He played his ass off. I feel like we would have beaten oregon that year.
But didn’t earn the right. It’s hArd a Confrence to win every year man
November 25th, 2016 at 3:10 pm
Don’t be surprised if auburn beats bama tomorrow.
Throw out the record. Bama has way more talent but that game..
Fsu should best gators as they left it on the field last week

Good debate with you destin without name calling. I wish all people could do that whether its sports, religion or politics. All that $h!t is irrelevant. Being amongst my family and friends during this thanksgiving season futher lets me know we can disagree without being hateful and dirty. Happy holidays to you and yours. Fyi….you are wrong about 2013. Lol
November 25th, 2016 at 4:37 pm
Haha
November 26th, 2016 at 8:54 am
Let’s all remind ourselves this is a Buc’s blog, not the SEC History today. And, FSU plays Bama the first game of the season next year.
