Bucs Too High On Themselves Again?
November 18th, 2016Joe is hypersensitive to everything said by every Buccaneer. It’s how Joe lives the Bucs life and what makes JoeBucsFan.com a Bucs blog you can rely on 365 days a year.
Therefore, Joe presents the words of starting safety Chris Conte on Wednesday night.
Buccaneers Radio Network host T.J. Rives asked Conte if the Bucs had extra pep in their step at Wednesday’s practice.
Chris Conte: Yeah, I think we have to get over the win and get back to work. I mean, there’s a lot of new stuff that we’re going to be doing this week. So just like a loss, you got to put last week behind you and start working forward to the next week. And this is a tough opponent that we got. They have a ton of offense. You know, Andy Reid, he’s an offensive guy and they run the West Coast offense, and it’s just a lot of stuff. So we have to be prepared and be on top of our game and knowing that it’s going to be a challenge for us.
Joe has to ask why Conte talking about the team needing to get over Sunday’s win on Wednesday evening? He wasn’t even asked about that. That’s a massive red flag at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.
Remember what Demar Dotson told Joe in Arizona about the Bucs being too high on their opening day win.
“I think we just put too much into a win,” Dotson said. “You know, we had a lot of people praising us over the Atlanta game, over one game. And I think maybe that maybe we just had too much praise over one win. It’s just one game. That’s the highs and lows in the NFL. We can get too high over a win, or get too low.
“And I think we got too high over a win. And we got humbled real quick.”
It’s possible Conte was just making conversation, but Joe doesn’t see it that way. Conte is a very intelligent guy.
Remember, it was newcomer Conte, a guy drafted by the Bears after they went to the NFC Championship game under Lovie Smith, who eloquently identified the losing culture of the Bucs in September 2015.
Man, Joe sure hopes the Bucs have their collective heads screwed on right for Arrowhead Stadium. They are legitimate underdogs to the Chiefs, but there’s no excuse to have the wrong mindset — again.

I think this is different Joe, After the Atlanta win, the bucs were doing a world wide media tour nationally!!!! There were discussions of JW3 as the MVP of the league on National sports talk shows!!!!
After the Beatdown of the bears, not so much media praise nationally!!!!!!
Go America!!!!!!!!!!
Go BUCS!!!!!!!

Buc Realist – it cannot be said any better. I tend to think/hope there have been lessons learned and Conte’s take is evidence of that. I still think the Bucs lose by a TD in this game. They just don’t have the horses they need, yet.
November 18th, 2016 at 9:54 am
Hopefully not . I listened to pawloskis podcast and one of the callers said guys were at soho celebrating the victory popping bottle like they won the ship after beating the bears. Im ok with some celebrating but lets not get full of ourselves…it was the crappy bears.b
November 18th, 2016 at 9:54 am
we’ll see….GO KAP…GO BUCS!!!!
November 18th, 2016 at 10:07 am
Off topic, but dang Drew Brees and the Saints players showed more concern for Luke Kechley than Scam Newton. Dude didn’t budge, not one show of emotion. I would like to think Jameis would have been over checking on his player
November 18th, 2016 at 10:24 am
It’s part of the culture change. We have to learn to be competitive, then we have to learn to win, then we have to learn how to expect to win. When we get to the point where we’re expecting a win then we won’t have players celebrating like we just won the Super Bowl when we beat a bad team. We won’t have people reading their own press clippings quite so much, because they’ll have their eyes set on bigger things. We’ll get there. I think this is a coaching staff that is much better equipped to handle this stuff than regimes in the past.
November 18th, 2016 at 10:30 am
Too me Conte’s comment is only acknowledgement that they didnt do it right after week one.
As a more mature team they now realize they have to put wins behind them.
Every team has to do this. His comment that they ARE putting it behind them is not evidence that they are NOT putting it behind them and are still too high on themselves. Silly correlation Joe
November 18th, 2016 at 10:31 am
It’s one thing to get high on an opening day victory on the road against a division team and then after getting bitch slapped by them at home to respond with a stomp of a bad team…..hell, we all got high high after the Atlanta win.
Now…..it may be the reverse for KC….they may be overlooking the Bucs who play pretty well on the road…..
If we lose in KC it will be because we got beat by a better team with stronger talent…..not our attitude.

813bucboi..
Go Kap? Find another site jack ass. I’m tired of you moronic posts..
November 18th, 2016 at 10:35 am
They have a ton of offence? The Chiefs, i haven’t check there offencive stats. But the Chiefs have hardly been offencive the last few years. They are a running team. With a ding and dunk passing game.

AWWWW Poor RM doesnt agree with someone… He can’t cope poor baby. Go back to suckle at the safety of your mommy’s teet.
November 18th, 2016 at 10:50 am
I’m sure Dirk Koetter’s 1st words in the team meeting after the Bears game at One Buc Place was that they have to focus on Kansas City. The learning experience from the beat down in Arizona probably was something that has been understood. Here’s another thing, after the Bucs beat the 49ers, the next loss to the Raiders (a really good team) wasn’t anything like what happened against the Cardinals. I don’t believe the final score will be like what it was in Arizona (40-7). Go Bucs!
November 18th, 2016 at 10:53 am
Maybe Conte is lingering on this win a little longer than normal? This was a personal win for him, and he played lights out. This May Be MORE Of A personal statement for conte than a team deal.
November 18th, 2016 at 11:03 am
As I’m reading over the comments on JBF for a few years now, I’m convinced now that Donald Trump is probably a Bucs fan and frequent commenter on JBF. I’m not sure which one he is. There’s a chance he may be using a lot of different handles. But a lot of it has the same feel to it. If he’s not, then I can definitely see how he was elected. He’s the king of the internet trolls.
November 18th, 2016 at 11:07 am
It sounds all good……but this is why you play the game! GO BUCS NOT MY PRESIDENT GO COLIN PICK YOUR HEAD UP MIKE DOWN WITH BANNON THE BIGOT!
November 18th, 2016 at 11:08 am
For the record, No Bucs team was “HIGHER” on themselves than the 2010 and 2011 roster!!! They were very “HIGH” on themselves!!! But maybe it was those alleged left landed cigarettes filled with wacky tobacky!!!!
November 18th, 2016 at 11:24 am

We’re talking Bucs here, when was the last time we won the division? Any win is a celebration for this team.
November 18th, 2016 at 12:00 pm
Can everyone please stop talking about politics on here? If politics becomes normal for us to read on here, this site is gonna end up on South Park (sarcasm).
November 18th, 2016 at 12:02 pm
I never said America step up so I don’t know who you are referring to….
KAP is continuing to fight for justice regardless of how he looks in the media….I wish mike would’ve done the same but he gave “them” exactly what they wanted, which was for a black man to shut up and stay in his place….and you all jumped for enjoy when he apologized which is a shame….you and people like you right part of the problem….you want a black man to shut up and just play football….when someone speaks out you bash them for it and say they just need to do what their paid to do….BS….
I work with churches and other local black owned businesses to help out homeless families, abused families and families in needs….many of whom are not even black….I tutor at Laretta Ingram Civic Center on Thursdays with other black men in the community…..I run a business and give out donations every other month of clothes, shoes and fragrances that I have plenty of….
so while your out throwing money around, I actually take time to connect with people and form a relationship with people less fortunate than me….
you need to step up and get out to a community that aint yours(white) and really make a difference…..ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS….AND PICKING UP TABS!!!!DIRK=JIM TOMSULA…GO KAP…GO ERIC REID….GO BUCS!!!!!
November 18th, 2016 at 12:18 pm
How do you find time to run a business and work with churches and the local businesses when you’re posting on Joe Bucs Fan all day, every day?
November 18th, 2016 at 12:21 pm
@813bucboi
Thats what I am talking about!!! And I stand up and applaud you for your work!!!!! And if you will listen and learn something about football you will be all right in my book!!!!! And believe me when I say that The Buc Realist gives his time in the community, town meetings and fund raisers in my community to make Saint Petersburg better each day!!!!!!!
November 18th, 2016 at 12:22 pm
Kap is a looser that’s why he need this to attract attention
November 18th, 2016 at 12:30 pm
This first win is the hardest to get. I predicted 7-9 this season and playoffs next year. If the defense can stay healthy we will see consistency the rest of the season.
November 18th, 2016 at 12:36 pm
There may be many JBF posters that don’t want Trump as President….but I bet they sure would prefer him to own the Bucs than the Glazers….
Just think MAKE THE BUCS GREAT AGAIN!!
November 18th, 2016 at 12:40 pm
@curse….its called multi tasking…..most people that own a business are pretty good at it….
run business from Tuesday-Saturday(8 employees…little work for me 🙂 )
church events on Saturday once a month
networking events twice a month
hoop on jbf on my phone, ipad, desk top….
I spend my time wisely….GO KAP!!!GO ERIC REID …GO BUCS!!!!
November 18th, 2016 at 12:48 pm
813bucboi, keep doing your thing, I enjoy your posts.
November 18th, 2016 at 12:49 pm
@REALIST….glad to see you work in your community….I know football…played in high school and college….attended a regional combine in new Orleans in 2010….scouts just don’t know talent when they see it…LOL…
all jokes aside, I love the bucs and want them to be successful….I bleed pewter and red….I just aint drinking the Kool-Aid any more….this staff was suppose to be an upgrade….we have better talent on defense….BUT we still have a losing record and have witnessed multiple blowouts….improvements come in the form of wins and loses….if we finish 6-10 or worse how can you say we’ve improved?…how is a 6-10 under lovie any different than 6-10 under dirk…..GO KAP…GO ERIC REID…DIRK=JIM TOMSULA!!!!GO BUCS!!!!

______________________________________________________________
This was exactly my take as well. I see this as a good thing, they realized how easy it is to lose to any team, and are focused on the week ahead instead of resting on their laurels from a win over a bad team.
November 18th, 2016 at 1:35 pm
Don’t want to sound like a homer, but if we handle the 1st 10min of the game stay away from turning the ball over etc…I think we can hang around and steal it late.
KC offense strength doesn’t exploit our safety play. Run, Run, Dink and Dunk…we need to tackle well.
KC D covers the TE very well and they have a corner to shut down Evans. (Marcus Peters – hasn’t practice this week – so good for us) Need to get the run game going so we can 1. stay out of 3rd and long, 2. get play action working.
Checking out the rest of the schedule – ouch!
Seahawks, Chargers, Saints 2x, Dallas

Aaron,
Great analysis. Concur and will be to see how this plays out.
November 18th, 2016 at 2:17 pm
Mentally, they should be fine. Beating Chicago doesn’t mean squat. If they lose, it will be because KC is just a better team.
November 18th, 2016 at 2:52 pm
813…
Muli-tasking from your mom’s basement.
November 18th, 2016 at 4:17 pm
The Bucs are gonna need a lot more than attitude to beat the Chiefs. If you even think..we are gonna walk into perhaps the loudest NFL stadium and steal one..you need your heads examined. They have more talent and are playing at home. The players have been told, you cannot lose this must win game at home. You can bet they will be ready. Jameis is going to have to have an almost perfect game for us to even get into position to win. And I;m not mentioning our Pass Rush. Unless I missed something..I got the Chiefs by 14 in my football pools.
November 18th, 2016 at 8:42 pm
I think this is different in that they are not just celebrating a win, but a home win. They know what’s at stake, especially considering the standings right now, a tie for 2nd – 4th in the division or win and continue to have ATL looking in their rear view. Up in ATL they are making songs already about the birds and praying for a Bucs loss
