Why Are The Bucs So Much Better On The Road?
November 26th, 2016Linebackers coach Mark Duffner offered an answer to a great Bucs mystery.
While most Bucs have no interest in addressing the question of why the team is so much better on the road , the 41-year coaching veteran didn’t hesitate when asked about the great disparity on the Buccaneers Radio Network this week.
Tampa Bay is 4-1 on the road and 1-4 at home.
“I’ll tell ya. I think the fact that the team really enjoys itself; They care about each other. And I think that when they spend time together as they do in traveling and staying at the hotel and eating together and all that type of thing, I think the bonding that goes on at an away trip is a real key to teamness, if you will,” Duffner said. “Certainly, there was no better example of a team win than the effort put forth by the Bucs against the Chiefs.”
Maybe there’s a way to duplicate the road experience for home games? Perhaps the Bucs could fly to Atlanta on a Saturday morning, for example, have lunch, have their walk-through practice, and then fly back to Tampa and check-in to the team hotel for meetings?
Somebody has to figure something out. The Bucs have lost more home games than any other NFL team — by a mile — since Chucky was fired.
Joe sure hopes that win against the Bears two weeks ago was the start of respectability at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

That’s actually a pretty interesting point. When you get to sleep in your own bed, be with your family, have sexy time with your wife before a game, I think that can affect your focus. It shouldn’t but I think it might be a facto for this young team .

In my experience, a road game is a time for team togetherness without distractions. All football, all business.
And based on Tampa fan attendance, feel like home games anyway…;)

Maybe a team dinner Saturday night?

Speaking for Pablo
“Pablo has a great idea for Pablo’s Bucs….there is a quonset hut in Pablo’s neighborhood that would house all the Bucs (including Hason) the night before a home game….Pablo would provide free table dancs and Pablo’s many, many children could prepare some of Pablo’s famous butt-blow burritos…..the Bucs may have to do several ASJs gameday morning, but Pablo believes they will be clear by kickoff”

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t the home/away schedule go off of the previous years record. Since the bucs have been bad, they play harder teams at home and easier teams away. Like I said, I could be wrong.

I believe you’re wrong but I don’t have any evidence to back that up so maybe I’m wrong as well.

No Blue Martini anywhere else?

Wow. USF’s defense is humiliating. #36 dropped a pick thrown right to him. UCF scores a TD and we have a 1 score game. Disgusting.

951, the schedule alternates between home and road games every 4 years. We won’t play at arrowhead again for 8 years, regardless of record. In 4 years KC comes to Tampa.

The Bucs stay EVERY home game at a hotel. The renaissance at International Plaza. It’s not a secret, they have done this for years. They have a team meeting & meals there also. So it’s just he same schedule as a “road” trip except without the flight.
